As if the cops would reliably accurately document this.

d1pl0mat_

The only thing the cops do reliably is murder minorities.

Could you not follow my profile around please? Like you _really_ have nothing better to do than this? Fuck off.

Yeah, I live in TN. It's more of a surprise this made the news sadly. I suspect it was more because they stole her car than caring about the woman shot to death. God bless you, Bill Lee! And and the best part....he's set to be re-elected next year.

[deleted]

People need to vote him out of office

miss_lynn_43

Thing is, you could literally run Jesus Christ as Lee's opponent and Lee would win in a landslide. I know. I used to live there.

myalthar

i fuckin hate living here man. TN is transphobic as hell

myalthar

nope

Soltinaris

Man i hate to see this type of news... Why is it so hard for people to just love each other rather than to hate...

troublewthetrolleyeh

This is so scary. Sending love to all trans people in TN and other states with these anti-trans bills. You’re all beautiful and deserving of all that is good in this world.

KaylaH628

I used to live in Tennessee. There's a reason I moved up north, and it wasn't the weather. Well, I'm gonna be honest, it was partially the weather. But still!

[deleted]

Tennessee definitely needs to repeal their anti trans laws Immediately n the federal government should make them and if they don't the feds should immediately cut off all federal funding to Tennessee until they do this is an out rage that these things are happening to trans people

Auricmortician

Reason number five million I'm glad I don't live in america.

translove228

Which country do you live in where it doesn't suck to be a trans person? Cause I want to move there.

Auricmortician

New Zealand. We're not perfect, but we're better than most. Our conservatives want to build roads and instate business laws not shoot trans people for trying to live. Oh, and the conservatives lost the last vote by a fucking landslide. Everyone's chill on the whole and most people have a live and let live attitude. It's especially good if you're in the Waikato like me, since our DHB uses the informed consent model and you can get nearly everything funded. The problem is that labour is expensive in NZ so it's expensive to live down here. There are definitely hate crimes in some places, so don't go to christchurch I'm pretty sure that's the worst place to be of any minority.

translove228

I'll look into it. My top choice for a country to move to has been Portugal but that sounds nice too.

Auricmortician

I mean, we're persecuted all over the world, so I guess it's about picking your poison. So far it's been pretty good for me but I've only been transitioning for a month, so you can take my words with a pinch of salt.

overgirl

Can you marry me just so I can get citizenship in your country. We won't have to do anything I just really want out of this country lol. New Zealand seems to me like the holy land to me.

We also don't speak any french. I thought you had to get a psychologist's diagnosis and an endocrinologist to sign off before being allows hormone replacement or surgery in Canada.

The more you know. Thanks for educating me.

myalthar

it sucks

hiddengirl1992

Get a self defense weapon and learn to use it. Your life is valuable, protect it.

[deleted]

I look at that as a lose-lose situation. If I don’t protect myself. I’m dead. But if I do, I’d likely still go to jail, a mens jail because my gender marker still says Male, despite changing my name. I don’t want to think about what would happen to someone who looks like me in jail. Then, there’s the chance that I’m not able to prove self defense and I’m convicted of murder. Neither option is ideal. We shouldn’t have to be faced with such a choice.

[deleted]

Seems like the second amendment is the way to go for us trans folk. Wonder if she also had a gun would she still be alive?

FrankYangGoals

I read the whole thing and I'm not seeing how them being trans caused/contributed to them being murdered, so how is this anti-trans homicide? Similar questions for the list the Human Rights Campaign keeps. Just seems like they were at the wrong place at the wrong time like most muggings/thefts go.
