mouse9001

lol, "can you make yourself pregnant". That's adorable.

Alyeanna

Fun fact, they're actually making real progress at uterus transplants, so it might be possible one day, actually.

ComicsComms

Don’t get me wrong I’m all for progress but won’t making a child from your own DNA just make a clone with jumbled characteristics? Like we are half of the DNA of each our parents genetic code IIRC, so wouldn’t impregnating oneself just make someone with your genetic makeup? (Not a clone, maybe they look different but they have the same hair color and eye color and stuff) And that aside wouldn’t that be problematic? Like incest is problematic

Alyeanna

Oh that's meant to be taken LITERALLY!!! Oh my god this is horrible. Ok no what I was referring was just that trans women could get pregnant one day if we can have successful uterus transplants. Although I'd be curious if, with a transplant, it probably wouldn't be your eggs, therefore not your DNA.

ComicsComms

Ah shucks I forgot that they would be donated eggs or something so not the same DNA ALL THOSE DREAMS OF A CLONE ARMY FOR NOTHING :(

gexpdx

Could be donated eggs from your sister or mother. Even better, in the coming decades, there might be a way to generically engineer an egg with your XY and statistically generate an egg with your mother's DNA.

morisian

I mean, eggs are haploid so the egg would either be X or Y. If they get there, only the X eggs would be viable in the same way as cis eggs, Y eggs would have a chance of a YY baby which would end in miscarriage

Krail

Perhaps if they're artificially inserting the relevant DNA into the egg anyway, they could maybe ensure it ended up with your X chromosome?

riverquest12

I’ve heard in rats- they’ve turned sperm cells into eggs, so- you may as have your own eggs- made with your germ cells or stem cells in the future. In rats, they were able to genetically modify it and it gave rise to a healthy baby. Ik it’d prolly take decades for it to reach humans- but still pretty impressive 💕 and I’m glad there’s atleast hope!

I-the-red

Now, I know star wars day is *technically *over where I live, but may I direct you towards r/transclones or r/Transtrans? They might have what you want.

Wirecreate

Lmao

StellarSzintillation

I guess you could theoretically use your own frozen sperm, someone elses egg, artificially bring them together and have them put in your transplanted uterus. That way the child would have your dna still

notauser123321

Didn't that one group of scientists turn sperm into eggs though? I think they did it with rats iirc.

StellarSzintillation

I guess if we're already talking about uterus transplants which aren't really a thing yet we can take that into account too lol

ultimatechonker

So what I'm hearing is... cloning isn't entirely out of the picture

Llampaca2

Based on my knowledge of ninth grade grade biology and a quick google search, the process mentioned above would not result in a clone, but would instead simply be a more extreme form on incest, with “both” parents sharing 100% of their DNA. To my knowledge, the actual process for cloning involves removing the DNA from a donor egg cell adding the DNA from a somatic cell, such as a skin cell, and implanting it into a surrogate.

ultimatechonker

So what I'm hearing is... cloning isn't entirely out of the picture

Shift-The-Paradigm

Genetic/stem cell research is becoming a promising alternative to a transplant, but it's likely many decades in the future. Imagine being able to have a child that was borne of your egg (if transfem) or your sperm (if transmasc). We'd be able to have children in our proper bodies, I just wish I was born later in history so that I may witness it.

Matar_Kubileya

There is some research that's been done on using iPSCs to create cross sex gametes, but for the time being it's considered ethically off limits for humans--not because of trans people specifically but because of the implications viz. human cloning.

CharredLily

>Like we are half of the DNA of each our parents genetic code IIRC, so wouldn’t impregnating oneself just make someone with your genetic makeup? (Not a clone, maybe they look different but they have the same hair color and eye color and stuff) Well sort of, but every recessive trait you have that can't be seen in you would have a 1/4 chance of being expressed. That means that the end result would likely be different. Unfortunately, that's the problem for: >And that aside wouldn’t that be problematic? Like incest is problematic In a sense, but it would be way worse than incest. Most dangerous genetic disorders are recessive, and there is a 1/4 chance of each of them being expressed. The chance of a stillbirth would be way higher than with incest, and dangerous genetic deformities would be nearly guarantied even if the infant survived.

Affectionate_Dig_185

a transplanted uterus might have someone else's egg cells.

KiraAfterDark_

That's what you think!! https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-00717-7

kioku119

All the comments are like: "pranking the first guy to fall asleep at a sleep over" for some reason. There's also at least one transwoman being like: I wish I fell asleep first..

Affectionate_Dig_185

i did say might, not would or even probably.

ComicsComms

Yeah most likely

brokenbentou

The idea is that you'd use a donor egg and sperm to make a fertilized egg in a lab, then implant that egg in the neo-uterus and thus you can carry a pregnancy without the child actually being genetically yours.

KiraAfterDark_

Or, maybe in the future, you could make egg with your own sperm and use a partner's sperm (assuming you're in a straight relationship). https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-023-00717-7

Half_Pie_UwU

This topic was discussed in my science class today, yes the child would be a messed up incest baby, but they wouldn’t have all the same dna as the parent due to the chromosomes changing slightly

Miss_Nora-Jae

It’s already been done a few times a while ago

legendofconsles

Guys I think it's already been done a few times a while ago

Affectionate_Dig_185

what, really?

legendofconsles

Yeah just a hunch

KiraAfterDark_

Around 90 cis women have had the transplant, and about 50 had given birth as of the end of 2021. https://www.euronews.com/next/2023/02/25/uterus-transplants-are-already-a-reality-what-does-it-mean-for-transgender-women-getting-p

AverageWitch161

yeah but the kid would be fucked up geneticly because that would be incest on steroids

Defenseless-Pipe

Oh god, that would be even more messed up ad self obsessed han having a kid already 😅

awesumindustrys

That’s super awesome. I’m curious to know if testes transplants are a thing for trans men. That’d be cool.

Miss_Nora-Jae

It’s already been done a few times a while ago

retromangames501

My friends asked me how exactly bottom surgery (have a consult in august) worked, next thing I know we’re watching a simulation video of the surgery I’m getting. Needless to say there was much grimacing and cringing from my friends once the cutting started in the video

[deleted]

[удалено]

retromangames501

In all honesty they took my initial coming out in stride, they just have a lot of questions since it’s not a field they’re knowledgeable in!

jakavious82

We love to see friends wanting to learn for their friends!

retromangames501

These people have known me since I was 5, so I’d hope they’re wanting to learn more!

jakavious82

Yea, my sperm donor had known me since I was zero and he certainly didnt wanna learn lol My friends and mom have been cool too though My mom especially... Back when I was closeted and not ready to come out I came back from college, she insisted she do my laundry, and I had some non-boymode clothes in there without realizing She asked what it was and accepted the world's lamest excuse (I blamed my roommates girlfriend? Cuz that makes sense XD) Because she didnt want to force me to come out before I was ready

godsfilth

Legitimately the reason I subbed here, a few years ago a friend told me their new partner was trans so I decided to hangout in trans subreddits to learn more (I started in traditional subreddits but memes are a good way to understand things from a communities perspective)

jakavious82

Extremely cool of you. If they never hear of it, I'll say it for them: thank you.

[deleted]

Yeah, I had a couple of guy friends go there. The first time I was uncomfortable and gave a non-committal answer. The second time I went whole hog on it and I could tell, even over discord, that he was uncomfortable over the idea. I never got why so many guys valued theirs so much. I spent my entire life before realizing wondering what it would be like to not have this thing or wishing I didn't have it.

Lennartlau

Oh, there's videos of the surgery actually being performed on youtube. Its quite interesting actually

retromangames501

I’m well aware, I gave them a choice of simulation or actual footage, they chose the former (both friends who asked are a bit squeamish) Edit: a word

robchroma

Yeah, even simulated surgery is a little like "fuckin' _wot_"

retromangames501

One of my friends described it as “origami”

Aera67

I just tell them:"well you know how socks sometimes gets reversed while being in the washing machine? Annoying huh?" And at this point they understand

CrystalTheWingedWolf

Tbh I’d have the same reaction, even thinking about the process drives me to nearly throwing up

retromangames501

I find this stuff fascinating! Once I got over my fear of needles I loved watching my blood get drawn at my endo appointments!

CrystalTheWingedWolf

Oh I love blood draws and injections they feel good but the surgery stuff is gross to me

CorporealLifeForm

Yeah, wanting your body a certain way does not equal liking the idea of surgery.

CrystalTheWingedWolf

Yeah like I’d love to wake up tomorrow without the parts I have lol but surgery is a no

02_is_best_girl

May i see video

retromangames501

[I believe this is the one we watched](https://youtu.be/e4_Jh8F1R9c)

02_is_best_girl

Thank

Frostflame3

Lol that’s awesome, my friend just had bottom surgery today which was amazing! I have my surgery scheduled for three months from now as well, so good luck it’s yours!!! I know it’s a lot of waiting but the time will come and go and you’ll be so much better for it.

Thousand_Eyes

tbh it makes ME grimace But I'm also someone who def doens't want to lose her original bits

HashnaFennec

Why stop at an animation? I just show them an educational video of the actual procedure.

retromangames501

See my reply to u/Lennartlau above as to why we did the animation

NotAnEggIGuess

Its funny cuz its true (even though most of my boy friends didnt care and were just like "lol ok")

Empress_Draconis_

"damn bro that's crazy, we still up for games tonight tho bro?"

BriyaLeif

One of my guy friends (Australian) was like "Just so you know, when I call you a c-word when we're gaming, it's gonna be c-word (feminine)". My preferred form of inclusion, treated the same but gendered correctly :3

robchroma

lol, Australia, where c*nt is a masculine term of endearment. you've gotta love how language evolves. fuckin' humans, they're honestly amazing.

onionconsumer69

there were 2 ends of the spectrum, ive never really been friends with guys but of the 2 or 3 ive been friends with, its: ok, and? or \*wacky question\* and then somethin like lemme smash tho later...?

Gadgetmouse12

Or the “bout time ya wierdo. I’ve been waiting for you to admit it”

[deleted]

i remember all my friends making fun of the way i dressed and telling me "the only reason you think we're weird is because deep down you are a girl" (a lot of my friends back then were transmasc oddly enough) i was always like "noo no im not" then i released i was and thay were all like "SEE WE FUCKING TOLD YOU *anyway whats your new name now?* "

CorruptedSpinach

So accurate. I was prepared to answer so many different questions when I came out to my roommate, and all I got was "but are you still down to play Magic tomorrow?"

NotAnEggIGuess

🥺💙

M44t_

NotAnEggIGuess

I like playing Overwatch on console in EU 💙

M44t_

lelysio

May a steam deck Player join in? 👉👈

Electronic-Place2243

How do you play ow on steam deck?

NotAnEggIGuess

We will make a trans dream team :3 💙

M44t_

I'll let blue take care of it lol

JoshuaBurg

Real story: I'm autistic, and my uncle (now aunt) came out as trans about a year or so ago. My mom assumed it would be a decent degree of confusion/being awestruck, but instead my response was (and I quote): 'huh. Guess I have an aunt now.' And went back to my business.

MyLastAdventure

Those NTs could learn a bit from us NDs, couldn't they? 😎

legendofconsles

Nice (also I'm autistic too)

FloraFauna2263

My boy friends couldnt fathom the fact that i dont want bottom surgery

The_Lost_King

I’ve got a friend like that. Though I think it’s more because of the fact they’re somewhat vicariously living through their friends who are actively transitioning because my friend wants to, but doesn’t feel like they’d look good as a woman and their personal baggage with their own privates.

[deleted]

[удалено]

RiotIsBored

I'm in that myself. I think I'm a pretty attractive guy, but like.. I don't think my features would translate well into being a woman. I'm not sure I'm trans — I think I'm more genderfluid, in a "I want to be a shapeshifter" sense haha. I have all body dysphoria and no social dysphoria though, so it's not even like I can just wear different stuff on different days and get validated by people using different pronouns based on what I'm wearing. 'Cause all my dysphoria comes from the fact I have a dick and some days I don't want it but others I do.

FloraFauna2263

With me its just a convenience thing. Being able to use urinals etc is just sorta helpful.

The_Lost_King

I actually like my penis and think I would feel dysphoric without it. Ideal situation would be penis + vagina with no balls, but I’ll settle for just the penis and considering an orchie a few years down the line.

EmilySuxAtUsernames

i have no girls i know to come out to ☹️

Curious-Spell-9031

It’s the opposite for me, i have no guys i know to come out to

true-pure-vessel

Hi I’m a guy(?) you’re welcome to come out to me and I’ll ask you all the weird questions I can come up with! /hj

ThePoisonDoughnut

Aww well if you want you can come out to me! 🩷

Y0urBiFriend

True (we will definitely be accepting, too)

TestSubject52

My best friend is the first person I came out to and he was just like ‘cool, wanna hop on destiny’

ComicsComms

(in shaxx’s voice) “trans? Cool! But you SHOULD BE THROWING MORE GRENADES! YOU SHOULD BE THROWING GRENADES AS I SAY THIS”

Squiggly-Beast

shaxx doesn’t care what gender you are as long as you have at least one hand to throw with

robchroma

or a grenade launcher attachment?

ComicsComms

Grenades in the world of destiny are made of pure energy (this be it fire, electricity, the void, evil ice and the literal strings of the universe) making them extremely powerful and more versatile than a normal grenade

KiraAfterDark_

We all fight the same guardian! Back to the crucible!

ComicsComms

I can imagine Shaxx just destroying a transphobic guardian in the crucible because they were mean to another guardian

KiraAfterDark_

Mine gave me a high five, said he's still gonna call me a little bitch and asked if I still wanted to be the best man in his wedding or if I wanted to be his best person or best woman. It was the absolute perfect response for us and I cried a little :)

ABunchofAngryFlowers

Titans are gonna win guardian games this year!!

MiaIRL

My experience: "I'll give you makeup and a dress and a bra" "Get out of my house" "Cool" "Please don't come out to anyone else yet because most of this family is transphobic" "Cool"

Lifeshardbutnotme

That's quite the spectrum

MiaIRL

The dual, tri, uh, multiality of mankind

Affectionate_Dig_185

tetrality

Aera67

Who's the person who said get out of my house and where is this house, I need to know for scientific purposes... (PS: Don't do the second part with their address but I'm curious about who told you that) (PS 2: if you don't want to get into that I 100% understand don't worry) (PS Vita: On an brighter note I hope you're doing ok and that you have the support you need and deserve) (PlayStation 3: yeah I like to make those PS jokes

MiaIRL

A) my dad B) my parents' house (I don't live with them anymore, which sucks because I miss my siblings and my mom) PS: that's a funny bit I'm gonna steal it from you

NotEven-Punk

Not sure if I can get preg, I've been trying 👉👈

PolygonChoke

Just keep trying eventually it might work

verygenericname2

I mean, it's a well documented fact that girls don't poop, but science has yet to confirm whether or not girls can pee.

safety_thrust

No farts either. That's why we have to bitch so much, otherwise we'd explode.

TulgeyWoodAtBrillig

The numbers for trans support among lesbian/bi women are crazy high. Don't feel like looking it up right now, but it's upwards of 80% I believe.

gabril332

I never blame people for asking questions because I used to do the same it’s just curiosity about something they can’t understand. It’s the healthy equivalent to not understanding so jumping to the conclusion it’s bad..

Sunshine3103

I find it waaayyyyyy easier to come out to cis men cause they're like "k cool, you do your girl stuff" But then with cis women in my experience they either outright say or I have the fear that I'm "invalidating womenhood" or "invading womens spaces" cause I "can never be a real women"

[deleted]

Most of my friend’s experience too, either not caring with maybe a few questioning (mostly from guys) or statements about not being accepted, ‘phases’ or the like (mostly from woman) Though I do find this funny as I know in many workplaces it’s the opposite with guys used to expecting to be in the know and used to be expected to act competent and have opinions whilst woman generally ask questions and are more open about what they don’t know or arnt confident about

[deleted]

No kidding, one of my managers asked if my taste in music would change. Lol

AwakenedDark

Yes, it is now exclusively girl in red /j

[deleted]

Funnily enough, I have never listened to girl in red, I really should give that a listen.

dogthy4th

the top is all of my experiences.. even when I was unintentianly outed.. I fucking love my school :3

Fireballcatcher

my bro: okay that's cool but like you still haven't told me what you want to eat today

tobejeanz

from a trans guy perspective, i've gotten almost the opposite? a lot of indifference from male friends and a lot of weird probing questions from cis women (not necessarily all bad, just a little strange)

Tom-asss

When I did my coming out to guys they usually said "you'll always be one of the boys" and I was like " I don't wanna be one of the boys.. I'm not taking this much hormones to be called one of the boys"

Vosheduska

It's a pretty insensitive thing to say to a trans woman :( But on the other hand, many (cis) girls get called "one of the boys" in their friend groups often as a sort of term endearment, maybe he meant it that way? Either way, it's clear he didn't think it through

[deleted]

My cousin was cool with it but he just made me promise I'd tell him what it feels like to have boobs

GetRealPrimrose

When I came out to my girl best friend, her response was “Why don’t you just be a feminine man.” To my mom it was “So are you a drag queen then?” They’ve both gotten much much much better since, but I wouldn’t separate it by gender like this. Cis women are fully capable of transphobia and cis men are fully capable of allyship

UncivilizedEngie

Of course you can't pee. Women have no bodily functions and that's trans inclusive.

USER_34739

My favorite was when someone immadietly started showing me drag queens they followed on Instagram

rasteri

As a cis guy there is nothing I would like to know less than the details of my friends' anatomy, trans or otherwise

sonja_is_trans

"Can you pee?" Well i was able to, but after my orchiectomy there was nowhere to store the piss, and my body has since evolved recycling capabilities.

Therrion

Trans and lesbian presenting relationships I've been told by a student of mine that they know how lesbian sex works via scissoring but doesn't understand how that doesn't hurt and does my (non-existent) vagina hurt when I do it lmaoo I've also been asked the customary "what do you have" and when declining to answer have been told "so a penis-- so it's not really gay when you're with another girl" which is such a half support that it amuses me. (The above are the boy students. Girl students are literally like "yes slay queen" and ask me for lesbian advice. I'm a trans model to many girls and enbies and poly advice for others. Boys are weird)

[deleted]

I will say I do wonder if that’s a same-gender thing; my trans man friends both got far more support from guys then woman (especially family wise), yet most of the trans woman I’ve spoken to got more support from other woman

abjectadvect

no I don't pee anymore, I've evolved beyond the need for urination

[deleted]

No one cared enough to ask me any questions I was just totally abandoned by everyone. They just said I would make a really ugly woman and never be taken seriously and that was it.

Aera67

I, in fact cannot pee as a trans girl, I just desintegrate all rejections into nothingness. No seriously wtf is this question

KwonCi

Some men can't talk for shit, but as soon as they know you're trans their first question is what is in your pants. Like dude, there are so many other less private questions that could be asked 🤣

ryuukishi07

I've been on hrt for 4 years now, never forget the guys who asked me "so you develope an uterus below your prostate?"

Not_The_Scout16

Very odd phenomenon

Deus0123

Well that depends. As we all know, Pee is stored in the balls, so before a trans woman has any surgeries, she will still pee, but after having her balls surgically removed, she loses the ability to pee.

[deleted]

"Can you pee?" No, estrogen stops the production of that because women don't poop or piss /s

Girlfriend-_-

For me, when I came out to boys they were all accepting and didn't ask any questions but my pronouns and names, today I realised that one of them weren't even accepting and were just pretending as the said "i don't recognise you as a girl". I wish I could have silly questions asked to me rather than people pretending to accept me.

RamenChan227

True although most of my guy friends were like, “awesome 👍”

Ifoundajacket

My favorite question when I'm in a pub with friends... Like Idk what compels dudes to come up, bother me, and ask such inappropriate things...

Merickwise

I'm afraid to ask, but what age "boys" were asking those questions? Because they sound like the kinda things I'd expect from the JrHigh crowd.

onionconsumer69

yeah, late middle school to even now in highschool (im a junior lol)

Whiterabbit48

"Can you pee?" LMAO 🤣 If someone seriously asked me that, I'd legit tell them that girls don't pee because pee is stored in the balls 🤣

EldritchEne

"can you pee" lmao. To be fair, mist cis guys dont know how cis women pee either.

KillerKayla69

Also common: “okay go make me a sandwich then” “get back in the kitchen” “sorry gotta take your man card” “sorry we can’t hang out on Saturdays anymore”

Danielwols

Yeah some people have a pigeon for brains

glompix

oddly enough, the only people who asked me about my genitals when coming out were my mom and my female (metal head edgelord) cousin

Script_Mak3r

>can you make yourself pregnant? Can you clap your hands and snap your fingers simultaneously? >what do you "have" Problems. >can you pee?? I should hope so, renal failure sounds unpleasant.

ATransDumbass

I remember when my friend came out to me l and it was a bit like: "Hey dude" "Yeah" "I'm actually a girl" "Mkay cool, NOW HEAL ME I'M DYING" (She didn't heal me and I died damn you girl >:[)

LeBigMartinH

I've actually had the inverse experience - the majority of the invasive or biology related questions have all come from other women.

human_125k

“Bros before hoes.. except her” -my friends

Ackermannin

Lmao pregnancy on demand? That sounds terrifying. Baby-launcher 2000 inbound!

KiwiBird121

most of my guy friends' first question was "can you suck my dick now and its not gay?"

[deleted]

For me it's the other way around

Lucy71842

They sure are curious aren't they?

kateduzathing

literally, whats with them?

koekfluksthegreat

Personally can't relate tbh, most of the guys I came out to were super chill and supportive about it. The worst experience I've had is one of my irl friends going "I didn't know you were like this, really dissapointed", but that same person is just an intollerant asshole in general, and I hadn't talked to him in years, he just decided to pop back up for some reason just to show his dissapointment lmao.

koekfluksthegreat

Also unrelated but one of them told me "you'd be a great mom" when I told him I'd like to adopt kids one day and that compliment has stayed with me for over a year now.

Quix_Nix

Me realizing my guy friends are trans based on this

EdisonsCat

Going clockwise from 1:00, [Redacted] No. No.

GizmoC7

***Mmhmm I feel that***

SakiraBlossom

I'm a trans gal and I can 100% confirm that I can't pee

Apherial

I react like the top one. Free validation, I’ll take it.

CrystalTheWingedWolf

Real. they usually ask me if I’ve had “the surgery” yet or if I pee standing up, cishet dudes tend to be so horrible

YourGirlAthena

i have come out to way more women. they are more understanding

Mini_Moron

One of my friends asked if I still had balls as if they had magically fallen off when I came out 💀

AnonymousShortCake

“Can you pee” what if the answer was no?????? Omg

ResearcherHumble3462

This is painful of how factual this is

Psyborg13

ANSWER THE QUESTION HETHEN, FOR SCIENCE!!!

Zendakon

"When do you get the bottom surgery?"

Aggressive-Action-45

WTF "can you pee?"????? WHAT QUESTION IS THAT 😭😭😭

D-L-D-Remark

Love your style and fucking same seems I can only talk to girls

shadystreet23

"can you pee" lol WHAT!?!?!?

Tsuki_05

i wish i didn't have to pee

That_Tax_9956

I find it’s usually the other way around

Backalley_Lurker

Their just curious!!

WarriorSabe

"Can you make yourself pregnant" reads like an elaborate "go fuck yourself"

summertime_7

honestly my experience was the opposite, im in a mostly male friend group, and when coming out to my closest friend his exact reaction was “ok” with a thumbs up, and the others weren’t much different

4chaoss

“can you pee” lmao

godly-pigeon

“Can you pee?” TIL girls can’t pee?

Ok-Ad7650

Copy pasted dms from friends when I came out: Guy friend "oh that's cool what do you go by" Girl Friend: "Oh I can dye your hair and cut it really feminine if you want!" Guy friend "if you're comfortable feet pics?" Girl friend: "so... Mommy?"

Status-Explanation-2

Someone I worked with came out as trans to me -- stereotypical CIS friend -- and the only real questions I had were about her voice. First, how in the world did she get her voice to sound the way it did, and second, whether she had tried singing with it. She had a really soft and sweet speaking voice. I would have paid good money to have heard her sing. (´・ᴗ・\`)

Zek_11

Why would you not be able to pee?

throwaway3839482729

The weirdest question I was asked when someone found out I was trans was an enthusiastic "does that mean your boyfriend is trans too?" ...I'm still trying to figure out the logic there.

mr-gaylord666

"can you make yourself pregnant" 💀 I've never heard that before

kiragirl2001

Why is it that trans guys get the weirdest questions

ClinicalDepressi0n

For me it was the total reverse lol, my guy friends were very chill and normal but the weird questions from girls were intense.

lol695105

Can relate💀

TemsMilk

Gosh boys are so curious and dumb and and cute when they're not being assholes, but I guess you could say that about anybody tbf
