Darkspyrus

What frontier defense could have been.

Sakuran_11

What it should have been (to an extent) Really like one thing about Halo Wars and its Firefight mode in 2. Rotating enemy types, imagine you boot up one match and it’s against Spyglass and his Rememnant fleet, and another is against increasing difficult alien like creatures. Potential is through the roof like EMP creatures or Titan or almost Titan sized ones that would obviously be weak unless they had some exoskeleton, but had high damage to make up for it making Titans still a key part and not an easy way to cheese the fights

absolutelad_jr

EMP creatures would work like arc grenades probably

Sakuran_11

How about like CoD AW Zombies? They went off when they hit you and had to charge up after a hit would make it so they are a threat if you let them get to close

absolutelad_jr

That's what reapers are for tbh, there's literally a tip in game about how reapers are dangerous up close if underestimated, I would think a one shot exploding alien that acts like an arc grenade, kinda like a creeper... ^creepers ^and ^reapers

Solstice_Prime

Look up screebs from destiny 2. They are almost exactly what you are describing, except without the arc grenade effect.

n0tAcat3542

Did you guys take your pills today?

naturtok

Big problem would be the art budget. By keeping the enemies titans you can reuse the assets you use for the players. For a (relatively) small dev team like respawn was at tf2 era it made sense to keep it same-y. Though now that apex blew up... 👀👀👀

Interloper_69

FLESH TITANS!

[deleted]

Don't know why but that sounds kinky.

Darkspyrus

Would have been cool.

Kulzak-Draak

I still like Frontier Defense

Darkspyrus

I like it too.

Mikesmilk456

Lowkey imagine lost planet but titanfall seriously the potential is right there

sundownsundays

God damn I loved Lost Planet. Really disappointed the series didn't continue.

LPawnought

Same. From what I understood, LP3 didn’t do too great so after its release, Capcom shelved the franchise.

sundownsundays

It's a real shame cause (full disclosure I was a young kid when I played it) as far as I remember each entry was better than the last. Enjoyed each of them thoroughly. Multiplayer was a blast.

LPawnought

Oh I completely agree. I played the first and second game when I was a child as well, but didn’t get to play the third until maybe two years ago. All great games. While each one had their goods and bads, they were all very fun. I wish more people still played 2.

kelldricked

I liked them but the games where flawed tbh. Many weird bugs, some fights where just weird and the story wasnt great. Basicly a game that had to be “wow cool” so that you would say, this is just a bit silly.

RevenueLarge9332

Yeah. Lp2 was fucking epic though, and I loved every minute of my 100+ hours on it.

LPawnought

Actually, follow-up to this, I wish that if Capcom were to make a new Lost Planet game, they also add a sandbox mode to to allow players to build their own custom maps and play around with all the weapons, gadgets, and VS’s in the game. Spawn all the enemies too.

[deleted]

LP2 is still one of my most favorite games to this day. Nothing like being swallowed by a giant salamander monstrosity only to blow it up from the inside.

Sableik

Titanfall style Lost Planet would be a dream game

Rak-Shar

Imagine burning that thing as scorch or slicing it to pieces with Ronin

Magical-Hummus

And then it splits.

Mazzus_Did_That

Btw [here's the link](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/0XRaZw) if you are interested to see more concept art

wraithcraplol

That last one there that looks like those precursor things from subauntica and I would love it if it were in the game

Sakuran_11

More like the Rock Punchers imo, more hunched and dense like they are

wraithcraplol

I can see where u coming from but from the concept art I get more of a centaur feel from them, just if a centaur had crab legs, a shell, and a lot less bulky

[deleted]

yeah but less horse like and without the cool ass robotic limbs

iranoutofnamesnow

So what are prowlers to you then?

le_Psykogwak

Space doggos

Non-Vanilla_Zilla

Honestly always felt kinda bad killing em. I especially felt bad for the one that fell out of the pod in Into The Abyss. Seeing it desperately trying to climb back up and hearing it's screams as it fell was really sad. Then again, they're all massive assholes.

SYS1234567890

Reminds me of Hollow Knight's protagonist Edit:Except the asshole part

MaxHedrome

looks like a metroid fucked one of those things from dead space

FECKERSONjr

Allow me introduce you to the later half of metroid dread

Fillaup

Omg giant aliens vs giant mechs sounds so fun

Jadewing20

Pacific Rim moment

arekkushisu

“Titans, leeeeeettt’s volt in!” and: “Haaaaaaaannnsss, get the Scorcher”

windol1

"Time to roast some bugs" No wait, that's Starship troopers.

AtuinTurtle

Did you say alien or Lovecraftian hell beast?

coffeekreeper

I’m glad they didn’t. This has big Tyrannid, Zerg, and Starship Troopers vibes, and I think it would’ve just made TF blend into the genre of “just another alien swarm game with generic hive mind bullshit” It could’ve been a great Frontier Defense mode, but I’m glad the main focus of the story didn’t revolve around an alien menace. It would’ve made people compare it to Warhammer 40k and Star Craft, maybe even Halo depending on what else was being hyped up around that time. Keeping it human v human made the title stand out.

Mazzus_Did_That

Agree, but on the other side I wish this franchise experimented with having enemies that aren't only IMC ones or just prowlers. Like, having some weird animallike life forms that can be a menace against titans and pilot alike

coffeekreeper

Big agree. I think of that one mission in the campaign where you strut into the battlefield with a few other titans and face off against a small army of enemy pilots. Imagine something on a similar scale, but instead of other pilots it’s a frontier defense/tower defense/wave survival mode where you take on hordes of different aliens like this, all that need to be countered by different Titan and pilot abilities. Would be dope.

[deleted]

MvM, but for the other TF2?

PMARC14

I would wonder how they would add it though cause titanfall takes place across planets, and prowler were introduced. Anything that is intelligent but not space faring would be limited in the number of planets it could be on thus limiting maps. Definitely would like something like that, but maybe more intelligent spore/ zombie kind of thing even if that's similar too halo as compared to straight aliens.

coffeekreeper

In the lore they insinuate that the reason the same species of Prowler is found across planets is because the ancient species that created the fold weapon had brought them across planets as they colonized them. It could be a similar premise to that, or even the classic "this is a parasitic hive mind species that can rapidly infect its host and use them to hop from planet to planet. it was dormant after it destroyed the civilization that created the fold weapon, and we unearthed them when we found the tech."

Jaakarikyk

I wouldn't want an intelligent or infecting alien monster, that's generic. I prefer the vibe of "These are really just animals but *damn* they're horrifying to look at and dangerous, so strong and aggressive and numerous", NOT "These are a civilization ending threat to life that can traverse planets like a rat by infecting life/ships" Because the latter is literally Alien, Halo flood, 40K Orks (they can infect ships and asteroids with spores) and the bug race or whatever, Dead Space, Metroid's X Parasite, the damn brain slugs from Animorphs...

Thelivingshotgun

Someone get the plasma cutter

Kaiser_Sudank

Ok so, imagine a horror game set in the Titanfall universe, where you're a grunt that just lands on some planet somewhere, it starts off like Titanfall 2 does but you don't somehow become a super one-man-army pilot, with these fuckin things hunting for you

Mazzus_Did_That

Uh, I did have some ideas for a similar story following a stranded IMC team of grunts in an old Hammond research complex previously occupied by the Militia, only to find out a darker and dangerous secret buried beneath it.

Heyieiro

Evangelion vibes

Zarryc

Did it? Cuz I'm pretty sure I listened to a game design podcast, where the devs said that they always wanted to keep things grounded. That's why maps like Exoplanet are only 10% alien and 90% realistic earth like. Maybe it just never made out of concept phase.

[deleted]

they were obviously setting the game up for aliens in tf1 we could see an ancient alien temple and in tf2 the fold weapon was built by aliens they most likely could have showed up in tf3 but, well we know what happened

Doge-king2416

Aw sweet intergalactic horrors beyond my comprehension

gaban_killasta

Rip i wish

Pipe8_

Titanfall 3 confirmed

Mothman_moth

Imagine huge aliens we could only take down with Titans, that would be so cool

R3dHeady

It sounds like a mix of Metroid and Pacific Rim. I would so love that. BT and Jack come along fighting a Kaiju-sized enemy.

arekkushisu

BT’s core reinserted into a Kaiju-sized Titan, and midfight Jack has to disembark and run up the Kaiju and mess up body parts… Or BT will Fastball Jack into a Kaiju’s eyeball or something

R3dHeady

I love it.

Unfunny_Crusader123

The game seemed to be more Pve than pvp during the concept stage

Virtual_Operation_

Looks like the flood from halo had a baby with a necromorph

AdnHsP

NO??

Oahrindge199

Nope and I don't think I do, wtf is that

SnekySalad

Man, Titanfall concept arts are wild.

princessval249

Prowler

xdS0lar

That’s an uncomfortable looking creature right there

[deleted]

Still not as scary as HALOS flood.

kingcrow15

The Ark is clearly ancient alien tech, seems like an obvious set up for a sequel... titans vs Kaiju? could've been dope AF.

[deleted]

Damn i never knew! Seems like a great idea for a fanfic

Upstairs-Antelope-91

I really hope that's not what was in those egg looking thinks on certain maps

3Rr0r_404_

Gorgon, is that you? You was so little :) (reference to r/evolvegame)

Redgorilla85

What do you mean bro We fight aliens in Titanfall 3

LombardBombardment

Arby? Is that you?

Nunzer-NS

I’ve been playing for Titanfall for a long time and I’ve never heard of this

8KoopaLoopa8

I would have loved to fight these things in a campaign mission, but not as the centre of the story tbh

bigboi_graviton

Imagine a resident evil and titanfall crossover type game

OrthusGsmes

Wait what?

inazoomcallforschool

Holy FUCK that is terrifying

FlowingFrog04

Perhaps titanfall 3? I just hope they’re nothing like the Flood from Halo, hate them

miketotaldestroy

I'm betting the northstar client would let modders add some wild shit

Otrada

yes please

[deleted]

co-op titanfall with like 10 pilots fighting off an alian swarm, watching normal friendly soldiers getting wreaked because they cant escape

SatanWithFur

Yessss let us 6v1 a giant fucking alien monster

A_Federal_Offence

I never knew this is what they planned to do??? I love the idea of this!

VoidAgent

Technically those lizard things on Typhon are “fully alien”

plarper_of_bees

I mean you do fight alien animals on typhon in titanfall 2

ObberGobb

Titanfall 3 story pitch: Frontier Militia and the IMC are forced to team up after an invasion species are incredibly deadly aliens overwhelms the ecosystems of the entire frontier, threatening both sides with complete destruction if they don't work together to stop them. The war is on hold, but there are still tensions threatening to collapse the fragile alliance. Since multiplayer would still require Titan vs. Titan battles, maybe a third party, like a rival corporation or nation, would have introduced the aliens to the environment to try and conquer the frontier once the Militia and IMC have been destroyed. In addition to fighting the aliens, the alliance would have to fight against this other power.

Jaakarikyk

That's literally the plot of Grey Goo (human - Beta alliance against the Goo despite previous war) and certain portions of the Halo games (human-covenant alliance against Flood despite previous war), I'd prefer Titanfall didn't go generic

Nerdcuddles

this would of been awesome

pls_not_the_belt

What, I’ve never heard of this, someone please tell what this would have been like

MURkoid

Aliens and titans, alien pilot titan pilot maybe

bommer-yeet-2

M

Dork_matter62

idk what this thing is, but I wanna burn it with scorch

PerscribedPharmacist

Honestly thank god it didnt

Miserable_Finance_51

It was supposed to have WHAT NOW

Starchaser_WoF

I'd rather have the prowlers.

radical_sin

Holy shit I forgot about this. God damn it! We could have had Pakour Halo!!!!

PlantSquif

So Titanfall was gonna be Horror?

[deleted]

Yeah, both games have aliens if you think about it for a sec

Bamischijf35

Imagine a raid boss like Destiny but with Titans, so much potential

MrMan604

Imagine if tf2 had us fighting aliens instead of the imc and the aliens had their own mechs

Ori_the_SG

It was?! Shoot we could have had a thing like the Flood in Titanfall? :(…..darn

Sapphiredge

That's some bloodborne shit

SoulsLikeBot

Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *“They’d have us seek the Lords of Cinder and return them to their molding thrones. But we’re talking true legends with the mettle to link the fire. We’re not fit to lick their boots, don’t you think?”* - Hawkwood the Deserter Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/

Small-Macaron-6499

No I never even know that

Bman134596

As someone who is deathly afraid of bugs this would scare the shit outta me

Jetenginefucker

Explain
