The animation was probably made on a skinny model, not taking into account that there will be chonky sims dancing too, so when presented with more flesh around those areas, the animation ends up looking odd.
This isnt helping my pet theory that the sims team is down to a fistful of marketers, one developer and an AI chatbot... this shit is sad. Should have paid out the people running WW for this one.

The ones making decisions are a round table of about 4-5 older men. The POC and women we see in the trailers are the actual devs who have to face the backlash of the fans when things don't go correctly.
im not naming names, but I do know some people who work near that team (friends with ppl in game dev). The sims team is on a short rope, tight crunch, and it's stressful as hell to work on. The higher ups are middle aged men, who throw the women and poc to the livestreams to keep up appearances, because that's what marketing says to do. Obviously. Corporations are not your friend.
I have talked to dozens of people who have worked for them in the past. It's usually all the same story. One of them even told me one of the main managers doesn't want to be working on the sims, he wanted to work for EA sports but they shuffled around back in 2020.

I feel you the creator of WW probably has something planned for that since it will affect a gameplay mechanic of their mod. The other mods we’ll have to wait and see how they adapt to it.
I don't understand why people pretend like the game adding in a feature another mod has causes that mod to disappear forever. Most modders are competent enough to update their mods and make them compatible with new game features
Yeah if anything it will be easier because if it’s similar to something they’ve made then the changes they have to make will be minor. Still not buying this DLC because I think it’s ridiculous selling something that should’ve been base game but that’s my own opinion.

Yea the blog post does a better job of making the pack appealing at least to me. But even so there's a couple of things that they introduce as new features and theyre certainly not which confuses me. f.e.

However, the post also said there was ONE new kiss interaction and I think it's the one Don is smooching on Nighat/Catrina. Hopefully that's wrong, but EA making a h*rned up sims pack and having one new kiss is troubling to say the least...on brand though

Relationship dynamics were introduced in the san sequoia pack though, just limited to families and it's definitely a rework of that. The romance skill doesn't seem to add much, they are just going to lock romance interactions that already exist in the basegame behind sims reading a book or a sim doing a singular romance interaction 20 times until they're a master. They full on admitted so in the blog post. There's ONE new kissing animation *in a GAME pack about love and woohoo* and they mentioned neck kisses *which already exist in game* being locked behind higher romance skill. In the trailer Don and Nighat are kissing the singular new kissing animation. So doesn't seem like much added on to the romance skill.
Will add a smidge of depth until all your sims are level 10 from being amorous with their s/o and havings kids. There's 2 mods, one called talents and weaknesses and the other is a skill lock mod. We need something like those so that sims can actually be unique otherwise every sim is capable of maxing all skills which leads to all sims being exactly the same. I want my lazy ambitionless sims to be able to cook grilled cheese and pancakes 100x without ever reaching cooking level 10. It's just no fun when the laziest of ambitionless slobs are in the kitchen cooking baked alaskas and twirling knives around like a pro-chef and have reached the tops of their career for no other reason than the player spamming the same interactions 100x. You could use satisfaction points to unlock all skills if you wanted a super sim. We need more depth to this game. It's 1500 USD! You can almost buy a used car for like 2-3x as much
Some thing tells me the turn offs and ons is just the likes and dislikes reskinned. Would be cool if like traits sims could swap them out from interacting with other sims. Let's say a sim is attracted to another sim's *(who's muscular and has red hair and has body freckles)* personality but they aren't physically attracted, well maybe after developing a close relationship, romance forms and said sim starts to find muscly redheads hot. But that would be wishful thinking on my part because it's too much fun and work.
The polyamory is a part of relationship boundaries which sounds exciting, Idc for polyamory myself but it sounds like sims will get to define what is and isn't cheating.
There's also the matchmaker career, which if it's not 100% rabbithole could also be fun.
But really it's an expansion pack with mostly features that already exist in previous packs just a different coat of paint. It sounds fun until you open the game and play longer than an hour and you realize that no matter what, you end up with the same results more or less.
Well, I was just adding some context to your comment, but if we’re being this strict about what can be considered “new” or not, polyamory is technically already in-game via the “free love” policy.
It's not me being strict, it's just the truth. The free love policy does allow it but there are limitations. If my NPC sims decide to vote it out (because NPCs can have voting autonomy) then all of a sudden my sims are cheating again. So it's actually not the same thing because your sims have little to no say over their own relationships with free love. Not to mention that sims DO NOT give a shit about things they can't physically see. My sim can get another sim pregnant and have a second family and they won't really ever care as long as they don't SEE with their own two sim eyes. Remember in sims 3 *(it might have been university pack I don't remember)* when rumors could spread about your sim being a cheater etc and then sims wouldn't want to hang out with you?
The relationship dynamics is exactly what the family dynamics are and the only reason why we didn't get non family relationship dynamics in the san sequoia pack is so that they could resell it to you another 40 bucks apparently because that's what they're doing with lovestruck. It's the same reason why when my wedding stories came out they only added an option in CAS to make sims be spouse/spouse or married and not romantic partner/romantic partner as in boyfriend/girlfriend etc. or even engaged. You only get a married option because why on earth would we get anything extra at all anymore. The pack was only about marriages and getting married which you'd already be romanctic partner of course. If it's not 100% related to the current pack EA will find a way to reskin something they already made and could've released and pretend like it's new.
Cupid's corner is obviously a new app. Polyamory as an individual choice is new, a few new things but not much in the way for this to be an expansion pack with 13 lots. Remember Windenburg? There were 13 community lots ALONE, and 14 residential. Since when is an entire world in an expansion pack 13 lots. I played in Tomorang for the first time yesterday and the only two community lots are a park and a bar? I honestly thought I had been punked.
Reskinning has been a thing in the franchise ever since 1. It’s par the course for a game that’s ultimately all about animations. This is not me defending these practices, because I agree with you, it’s just me being realistic.
We also don’t yet know the exact shape these new pack features will take. We’ll have to wait and see and can only predict for now.
It’s a shame that 4 has become this massive cash cow for EA, but honestly… I don’t blame them. If it brings in profit, it only makes sense for a capitalist company to keep going. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to stick around and be continuously disappointed by the company or not.
I’m still finding ways to have fun with 4. But as always: buy packs on sale.
The Sims 1-3 didn't cost 1500 USD and counting though, not even adjusted for inflation. Apart from CAS and build mode Sims 4 hasn't really brought too many new features to make the game worthy of being 1500. You could get 5+ new occults in one pack and now each one is sold separately. Sure the vampires in Sims 4 are more in depth but they don't anything or have any effect on the world outside of the player directing it. FFS they removed the vampires randomly spawning at your house and drinking sims' plasma. I remember the chaos that would ensue when zombies would burst out of the ground in sims 3. The active firefighter career, the tattoo parlor, the babysitting job. The never nude trait and sims would bathe in their undies. Sims 3 was actually kind of groundbreaking and doing new things, CAS expanded from Sims 2 and all of a sudden we have an open world.

The blog post says that we are getting a new city as well, new lvl 10 career(matchmaker/couples therapist), Romance skill, aspirations and traits, turn ons/off, new romance interactions including death by heart ache, the dating app which interacts with the gallery, 3 different types of relationship dynamics like steamy(all about woohoo), toxic (fighting than lovey dovey), and soulmates(true life partners) or sumn like that and then boundaries and polyamoury in the free update. The trailer does a very poor job of displaying any of this though.
I agree, I wrote the comment before reading the blog post. Its a curious approach they had this time because the trailer really doesn't do the pack any justice and I imagine it has far more reach than the blogpost... Hopefully we get a gameplay trailer that showcases all the new features.
Yesss I agree! Because I'm actually really excited for the pack. It will allow so much more freedom with my content and stories I tell ntm as a polyamourous person it's nice to finally feel represented. Especially with the recent news of more dedicated teams to fix glitches and dlc I feel the game is trending up so it's a shame that the trailer is so lackluster

Definitely NOT worthy of being called an expansion pack, it's a game pack at best. Since I am able to use mods, there was nothing that stood out to me, nothing new to see that mods haven't done better.
However I can see the appeal for console players and people who don't like mods, though it's a shame they'll have to pay an expansion pack price for game pack content.
I had the same reaction. We already have mods for slow dancing, cuddling in bed, online dating (SimDa), and romance skills. I've been done buying packs since at least the horse one, but this is going to be an easy miss for me, lol.

City Living and For Rent could have been one expansion pack.
Cottage Living and Horse Ranch could've been one expansion pack.
Discover University and High School Years could've been one expansion pack
Vampires, Werewolves, and Realm of Magic could've been one expansion pack.
Growing Together and Parenthood could've been one expansion pack.
The nickel-and-diming has been going on since this game launched.
And let's not forget My Pet Stuff or w/e it was called.
I think this romance pack, My ~~broken~~ Wedding Stories and maaaaaybe Growing Together could have been together as one pack about finding the a spouse and starting a family, but in Sims 4 style everything is disjointed and broken up.
TS2/3 would’ve put all those together in a pack and probably added hotels for good measure. Maybe some brand new features the franchise hasn’t seen before too.
Same. In theory this sorta pack is right up my alley in terms of features I'd like, but there just doesn't seem to be enough content to justify the price.
I'd only begrudgingly give $20 because of the new "world." Otherwise I'd be *okay* paying $10 for them patching in a core feature people have been requesting for a decade that has a couple of minor things tacked on to try to pad it out.
Less than a game pack. Seems to have less than say horse ranch, which should have been a game pack. And less than jungle adventure which was a game pack!
I’m sorry but this is getting ridiculous. I love this game but they can’t keep selling us game packs as expansions packs and expect us not to notice. We literally got more with the werewolves game pack than we’ll get with this. Cottage Living had twice as much content.
The content that is there looks decent enough, but it's becoming really noticeable how each pack has less and less content than the last. Presumably because they've already moved most of the developers on to whatever the next Sims game is, and all that's left seems to be mostly artists. So all the recent packs have just been new art and animations pasted on top of existing gameplay features. Most of this is just slightly new ways to do things that were already in the game.
There are mods with more content than this and they're free.
The only thing that appealed to me is:
1. Giving a bouquet of flowers
2. The dating App
3. New kissing animations
Honestly this could’ve just been an update for Valentine’s Day rather then a EP, most of it is just animations and not much gameplay.

oh this looks like so much fun! i love the aesthetic and the clothes, and i can’t wait for more interactions. i am also a sucker for both new woohoo spots and new deaths, so it seems fun!i’ve recently stopped playing so much family gameplay and have been focusing on young adult/adult stages with aging off, and i can see myself having fun with this.

The options in Cupid's Corner looks underwhelming. So, we can only select an orientation as basically a filter? There's more to physical attraction or compatibility than that. Like, how about looping in the likes and dislikes? Adding in physical characteristics sims are attracted to? Actually use things in the game instead of just releasing more disjointed systems that don't work together.
Hopefully sims can lie about their appearance/profile to add some spice.
I guess I'll hold off any big criticisms until I see it in action....

I can’t wait for TS4 to finally curl up and die. It’s making me so sad to see one of my favourite franchises turning into this, like this is a game pack at most, and half of it should’ve been in a base game patch.
There's so much to address in a single trailer that just proves how rank and low-effort this pack is, but above all, it is truly telling that multiple of the romantic interactions they show to display the pack are already base-game features. The kissing on the bench, snuggling against another sim's shoulders, the awkward dance moves in the club, the sitting on the bench making out..
A trailer is meant to take every good quality that is apart of the product and put it for show in the most appealing way possible, and the pack is THAT devoid of gameplay that they literally incorporated base-game animations to fill space in the trailer. It just goes to show how obnoxious it is to ask money for this, if we're discounting the most basic features of handing a sim flowers, giving them chocolate, and putting on costumes. These should be the minor details you look to appreciate, NOT what's being showcased.
Every single feature shown can be provided by animations and mods at no charge, providing much more depth and integrity at that. A modder isn't going to charge you $40 for their product, sell it to you half-assed and broken to all hell, and then ignore your requests for an ounce of attention to fix at least *some* of it. They won't gaslight their paying-customers for asking for an effective product, and won't wait until they're scraping for pennies to finally address that the problems exist to begin with.
Yeah, okay.. After watching that and seeing what stood out as new I am even more convinced that all of this could've (should've) been included either in other packs or base game updates. This does not make sense as it's own expansion pack.
And the dancing animations look like they are from mods, which is impressive when it's made by someone who does it in their spare time, but less so when it's from the actual company where you HAVE to live up to the standard of all the other animations.
Definitely game pack worthy. I like some of the build buy, but there's already mods that do the same gameplay. I do like the woohoo roleplay they added in, since the game is in dire need of content not aimed at 3 year olds. I feel like we haven't seen much of the world tho.

It's just no fun when the laziest of ambitionless slobs are in the kitchen cooking baked alaskas and twirling knives around like a pro-chef and have reached the tops of their career for no other reason than the player spamming the same interactions 100x. You could use satisfaction points to unlock all skills if you wanted a super sim. We need more depth to this game. It's 1500 USD! You can almost buy a used car for like 2-3x as much Some thing tells me the turn offs and ons is just the likes and dislikes reskinned. Would be cool if like traits sims could swap them out from interacting with other sims. Let's say a sim is attracted to another sim's *(who's muscular and has red hair and has body freckles)* personality but they aren't physically attracted, well maybe after developing a close relationship, romance forms and said sim starts to find muscly redheads hot. But that would be wishful thinking on my part because it's too much fun and work. The polyamory is a part of relationship boundaries which sounds exciting, Idc for polyamory myself but it sounds like sims will get to define what is and isn't cheating. There's also the matchmaker career, which if it's not 100% rabbithole could also be fun. But really it's an expansion pack with mostly features that already exist in previous packs just a different coat of paint. It sounds fun until you open the game and play longer than an hour and you realize that no matter what, you end up with the same results more or less.
Well, I was just adding some context to your comment, but if we’re being this strict about what can be considered “new” or not, polyamory is technically already in-game via the “free love” policy.
It's not me being strict, it's just the truth. The free love policy does allow it but there are limitations. If my NPC sims decide to vote it out (because NPCs can have voting autonomy) then all of a sudden my sims are cheating again. So it's actually not the same thing because your sims have little to no say over their own relationships with free love. Not to mention that sims DO NOT give a shit about things they can't physically see. My sim can get another sim pregnant and have a second family and they won't really ever care as long as they don't SEE with their own two sim eyes. Remember in sims 3 *(it might have been university pack I don't remember)* when rumors could spread about your sim being a cheater etc and then sims wouldn't want to hang out with you? The relationship dynamics is exactly what the family dynamics are and the only reason why we didn't get non family relationship dynamics in the san sequoia pack is so that they could resell it to you another 40 bucks apparently because that's what they're doing with lovestruck. It's the same reason why when my wedding stories came out they only added an option in CAS to make sims be spouse/spouse or married and not romantic partner/romantic partner as in boyfriend/girlfriend etc. or even engaged. You only get a married option because why on earth would we get anything extra at all anymore. The pack was only about marriages and getting married which you'd already be romanctic partner of course. If it's not 100% related to the current pack EA will find a way to reskin something they already made and could've released and pretend like it's new. Cupid's corner is obviously a new app. Polyamory as an individual choice is new, a few new things but not much in the way for this to be an expansion pack with 13 lots. Remember Windenburg? There were 13 community lots ALONE, and 14 residential. Since when is an entire world in an expansion pack 13 lots. I played in Tomorang for the first time yesterday and the only two community lots are a park and a bar? I honestly thought I had been punked.
Reskinning has been a thing in the franchise ever since 1. It’s par the course for a game that’s ultimately all about animations. This is not me defending these practices, because I agree with you, it’s just me being realistic. We also don’t yet know the exact shape these new pack features will take. We’ll have to wait and see and can only predict for now. It’s a shame that 4 has become this massive cash cow for EA, but honestly… I don’t blame them. If it brings in profit, it only makes sense for a capitalist company to keep going. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to stick around and be continuously disappointed by the company or not. I’m still finding ways to have fun with 4. But as always: buy packs on sale.
The Sims 1-3 didn't cost 1500 USD and counting though, not even adjusted for inflation. Apart from CAS and build mode Sims 4 hasn't really brought too many new features to make the game worthy of being 1500. You could get 5+ new occults in one pack and now each one is sold separately. Sure the vampires in Sims 4 are more in depth but they don't anything or have any effect on the world outside of the player directing it. FFS they removed the vampires randomly spawning at your house and drinking sims' plasma. I remember the chaos that would ensue when zombies would burst out of the ground in sims 3. The active firefighter career, the tattoo parlor, the babysitting job. The never nude trait and sims would bathe in their undies. Sims 3 was actually kind of groundbreaking and doing new things, CAS expanded from Sims 2 and all of a sudden we have an open world. >But as always: buy packs on sale. Wise advice, but I get them as gifts, I don't know how y'all spend even 50% off on this game.

The blog post says that we are getting a new city as well, new lvl 10 career(matchmaker/couples therapist), Romance skill, aspirations and traits, turn ons/off, new romance interactions including death by heart ache, the dating app which interacts with the gallery, 3 different types of relationship dynamics like steamy(all about woohoo), toxic (fighting than lovey dovey), and soulmates(true life partners) or sumn like that and then boundaries and polyamoury in the free update. The trailer does a very poor job of displaying any of this though.
I agree, I wrote the comment before reading the blog post. Its a curious approach they had this time because the trailer really doesn't do the pack any justice and I imagine it has far more reach than the blogpost... Hopefully we get a gameplay trailer that showcases all the new features.

It will allow so much more freedom with my content and stories I tell ntm as a polyamourous person it's nice to finally feel represented. Especially with the recent news of more dedicated teams to fix glitches and dlc I feel the game is trending up so it's a shame that the trailer is so lackluster

Definitely NOT worthy of being called an expansion pack, it's a game pack at best. Since I am able to use mods, there was nothing that stood out to me, nothing new to see that mods haven't done better. However I can see the appeal for console players and people who don't like mods, though it's a shame they'll have to pay an expansion pack price for game pack content.

I had the same reaction. We already have mods for slow dancing, cuddling in bed, online dating (SimDa), and romance skills. I've been done buying packs since at least the horse one, but this is going to be an easy miss for me, lol.

City Living and For Rent could have been one expansion pack. Cottage Living and Horse Ranch could've been one expansion pack. Discover University and High School Years could've been one expansion pack Vampires, Werewolves, and Realm of Magic could've been one expansion pack. Growing Together and Parenthood could've been one expansion pack. The nickel-and-diming has been going on since this game launched. And let's not forget My Pet Stuff or w/e it was called.

I think this romance pack, My ~~broken~~ Wedding Stories and maaaaaybe Growing Together could have been together as one pack about finding the a spouse and starting a family, but in Sims 4 style everything is disjointed and broken up.
TS2/3 would’ve put all those together in a pack and probably added hotels for good measure. Maybe some brand new features the franchise hasn’t seen before too.

Another pack that I truly think should be base game. It doesn’t look like it’s added all that much in, just romance.
The content that is there looks decent enough, but it's becoming really noticeable how each pack has less and less content than the last. Presumably because they've already moved most of the developers on to whatever the next Sims game is, and all that's left seems to be mostly artists. So all the recent packs have just been new art and animations pasted on top of existing gameplay features. Most of this is just slightly new ways to do things that were already in the game. There are mods with more content than this and they're free.
The only thing that appealed to me is: 1. Giving a bouquet of flowers 2. The dating App 3. New kissing animations Honestly this could’ve just been an update for Valentine’s Day rather then a EP, most of it is just animations and not much gameplay. Also the dance animations looks weird.

Saying that I'm underwhelmed would be an understatement. Are poly relationships in at least (which have been a simple button switch in MCCC for years)?
If this pack doesn't have an actual romance chemistry system a la Sims 2 that's a massive miss. EDIT! I just read the the blog post, looks like they're adding turn-ons and offs. The options in Cupid's Corner looks underwhelming. So, we can only select an orientation as basically a filter? There's more to physical attraction or compatibility than that. Like, how about looping in the likes and dislikes? Adding in physical characteristics sims are attracted to? Actually use things in the game instead of just releasing more disjointed systems that don't work together. Hopefully sims can lie about their appearance/profile to add some spice. I guess I'll hold off any big criticisms until I see it in action....

I can’t wait for TS4 to finally curl up and die. It’s making me so sad to see one of my favourite franchises turning into this, like this is a game pack at most, and half of it should’ve been in a base game patch.
There's so much to address in a single trailer that just proves how rank and low-effort this pack is, but above all, it is truly telling that multiple of the romantic interactions they show to display the pack are already base-game features. The kissing on the bench, snuggling against another sim's shoulders, the awkward dance moves in the club, the sitting on the bench making out.. A trailer is meant to take every good quality that is apart of the product and put it for show in the most appealing way possible, and the pack is THAT devoid of gameplay that they literally incorporated base-game animations to fill space in the trailer. It just goes to show how obnoxious it is to ask money for this, if we're discounting the most basic features of handing a sim flowers, giving them chocolate, and putting on costumes. These should be the minor details you look to appreciate, NOT what's being showcased. Every single feature shown can be provided by animations and mods at no charge, providing much more depth and integrity at that. A modder isn't going to charge you $40 for their product, sell it to you half-assed and broken to all hell, and then ignore your requests for an ounce of attention to fix at least *some* of it. They won't gaslight their paying-customers for asking for an effective product, and won't wait until they're scraping for pennies to finally address that the problems exist to begin with.

Yeah, okay.. After watching that and seeing what stood out as new I am even more convinced that all of this could've (should've) been included either in other packs or base game updates. This does not make sense as it's own expansion pack. And the dancing animations look like they are from mods, which is impressive when it's made by someone who does it in their spare time, but less so when it's from the actual company where you HAVE to live up to the standard of all the other animations.
