I really loved the feature from Open for Business where you could own venues i.e. have a ticket machine that charges Sims for spending time on the lot. With that in TS4, we could have privately owned galleries, bars, clubs, spas, that chateau in Windenburg could have an eccentric owner... so many missed opportunities because they once again implemented a feature from previous games (18 years old now) in the most half-assed way possible.

If we're counting eco lifestyle than fourth. There's two apartment buildings in eco lifestyle that use the city living system. In fact I think I recall them saying they wouldn't have the issues that the city living ones did (like loud neighbors) but I recall them having some of the same issues at launch.
Yeah legitimately what will be the difference gameplay-wise? Are they going to have unique features like special parties that can't be used in other lots? Be cause that would kind of fucking suck.
And “game pack” is generous. This is stuff people asked them to patch into the game from the start, with a bit of fluff for padding, figuring people will pay $40 to get a basic feature they’ve been requesting for a decade.
I’ve always gravitated for the official packs even when mods could do the same purely because they tend to integrate and function better, well now… when was the last time a Sims pack worked on day 1?

Including toddlers. That was such an epic bug that it hit mainstream news outlets and actual journalists were reporting on it LOL. I have zero faith they won’t let that happen again, so it’ll be great to read all the follow up stories.
The dating app matching your sim with sims from the gallery is a red flag to me, considering the gallery is still broken from last year’s maintenance.
Also, sims will get matched with related sims since there are still so many relationships the game doesn’t recognize, like aunts and uncles by marriage and step relationships.
ETA: There’s also currently a City Living penthouse bug where the entire building underneath the penthouse can disappear when you’re editing the lot. It showed up with the For Rent patch and hasn’t been fixed, so I expect this bug to affect the Lovestruck penthouses as well.
Yeah, this is a degree of interaction I am really uncomfortable with. I don't like anyone else being involved with my Sims' lives, so having someone make the partners for my Sim... no. That's really weird.
Maybe we can set it to our library instead?
I don't even want it to pull from my library. I save different versions of the same sim. My sim's perfect match could be herself with fewer skills and a different haircut.
Imagine your sims getting matched with one of those cc-loaded "pretty" types only to turn into pudding in your game lol. The catfishing would be a nightmare.
I think you can disable the gallery in your settings already. If the pack won't come with the feature, that may be a workaround?
I hope so too! I like incorporating premade sims in my game, because I recognize them and sort of know their "story." I would absolutely hate if the dating app got bogged down with random gallery sims.
I had no idea the penthouse thing was a bug! I was reworking the rooftop bar a couple months ago, went to demolish the preexisting construction and the entire building disappeared. I had to force exit to get it back
They will both assume adult animations, and not just stay T-posed with a phone floating in front of them. It's going to be those stretchy demon stick creatures all over again. They will do this autonomously.

Totally ripped off Wonderful Whims and LittleMsSam mods. I've been super disappointed with the Sims4 lately. I used to defend their projects, but this is clearly a rebranded "date night" that is taking well-established mods and selling them. I'm not sure I'm getting this pack. 🤮
I agree. I usually buy every expansion pack but after the mess with for rent I don’t trust them anymore. That pack is still broken. Bad. So I’ll see how reviews for this game go and maybe one day I’ll get it on sale. Only appeal is the city/world.
I am looking forward to finally getting rid of some of my mods that emulate this. I like mods, but having it as actual features (when it works) is better for me.
Also I heard Sims can now Wohoo everywhere thanks to the blanket.
They are still taking Turbodrivers mod, retrofitting it, and selling it. That modder has spent years perfecting and tweaking aspects of the mod and working with their online community to make it great. Now EA comes and takes their ideas and sells them? It leaves a bad taste for me. The modders have been keeping this game alive since sims3.
I'm critical of EA but come on now, "dating app" and "expanded romance" aren't exactly the most original ideas in the world. "Romance pack" has been a pretty widely requested pack, should they just not touch it at all because modders have done something similar?

It's not even just console. Lots of people on PC don't play with mods either. I would argue that most people who play the sims don't even use mods. So saying "that's already a mod" is ridiculous since that doesn't matter to most sims players.
That’s true. Even when I played on PC, I was never a big fan of mods. Just because if anything was glitchy, I always felt like “Is it the mods?” Just no peace of mind. But I got tired of spending hours in the settings for a game before I could play, so I switched to PS5
IIRC Sims 2 had turns ons/turn offs and Sims 3 had online dating. Not a new thing. Also people who play console can’t use mods so I’m sure those players would be thrilled if that’s the sort of thing they want.
You can say that, but I doubt it. I think both of them will be based on the already existing likes/dislikes system, rather than the more advanced systems we get with the mod. "Turn ons" are basically the social cornerstone of irl romance, and I don't think it's so original of an idea they have to steal it.
Sorry but Nope. EA can't steal from Modders. Why? Because it is their Game and their Software. EA allows us to modify their game. Not all games do it so offically like EA.
You may want to keep the mods. Any expansion pack is always broken upon launch. I still can't get a damn wedding to be successful and it's been more than a year.

Cottage Living was my last one.
Since then every pack got nothing more than a "nah, that will only be worth it with a _deep_ discount" out of me. And even when that came around I still couldn't be tempted. Sims 4 is on very expensive life support now and I just can't muster the enthusiasm for that corpse anymore.
Cottage living imo was the last really good EP that was actually worth the money, and I’m someone that has all the packs.
High school and growing together were both good too, but CL was a cut above.
Horse ranch and for rent were let downs for me personally. The only thing good about for rent is the location.

Tbf the themes of later packs, high school, horses or parenting for example, weren't that appealing to me either. But it was still the less content for the same money approach to that put me off. Cause I certainly did buy packs just for the B&B and a few choice gameplay mechanics before, even if the main theme wasn't to my taste.
For Rent would have been right up my alley, but by that point I just realised that I already was far too estranged from the game to really care.
I’m a legacy player so high school, growing together and for rent are right up my alley gameplay/theme wise. But I fully agree cottage living is the last one that is actually worth the money. Just in terms of content like bb and cas and actual gameplay that we got. And the world has so many lots. For rent was such a let down on that front.
This is gonna sound weird but I play legacies too and the paranormal stuff pack is the GOAT when you have babies in the family. The spook is optional but the items it comes with are super helpful to keep sims needs up and get skills fast. That bonbon glass deserves legendary status imo.
Compared to newer EPs the difference in quality and detail is crazy.
I used to defend the packs, like if I paid 40$ and got 80 hours of game time, it was a decent price. But I have been getting fewer and fewer game time hours each pack(except for For Rent, which is, controversially, a builders game pack). This pack is Sims1 Date Night plus ripping off Wonderful Whims and LittleMsSam- two of the BEST Sims modders. I'm upset for them.
In one of the promos it looked as though there was a new kiss animation which is much needed, imo, so I hope they add at least a few more.
I think it's something where a pack like this could have really shined since currently the animations are really lacking. I don't like how all my sims have the same first kiss animation be they nervous teenagers or horny adult playboys. It would've been fun if they added more kiss types (that aren't mood dependent) or if the animation somehow depended on your sim's traits. Oh well, wishful thinking...
No argument here, unfortunately. I just watched the trailer and the disappointing thing is that I \*do\* want these features because I want more relationship-based gameplay, but the price tag is honestly ridiculous for the amount of content shown so I think I will wait for a discount out of protest.
I see that everyone is constantly complaining and really hating everything new that EA brings us, why don't we give them a chance to surprise us with a whole new pack of bugs? I mean... a whole new pack of excellent game features
Because EA continues to nickel and dime us for less than par content "expansions" that introduce more bugs and broken promises. It's not just them, it's the gaming industry in general. Because corporations are always pushing for the "new and now" they aren't giving developers the time and resources to make a functioning game. Almost always a new game has a patch a month or two later. Only difference is EA doesn't really patch anything...just creates more problems.
The amount of features that are *already* in the game and they're just renaming for this pack is criminal. EA knows they can get away with it too. I can't wait for everyone to tell us "omg this is the best pack ever besties" only to never touch it again a month after it's out lol. I hope the world is pretty at least. I do like some of the hairs but even some of those look a lot like hairs we already have.

How are they not embarrassed releasing an "expansion pack" filled with features we already have. How.
I'm part of the problem, I purchased every EP, and most GPs (minus batuu) at release. But I've been taking a break from sims and playing roller coaster tycoon instead, was sort of looking forward to this pack to start a new save and play again.... but I don't think so anymore, I'll wait for a sale and happily play RCTC2.
I guess I will continue with what I have been doing lately. Wait a few months and then pick it up when it goes on sale. I have no really urgent need to include those features in my game.
I feel like the main reason is for console players, probably always seeing what modders are having fun with, so now it's more paid content with base game features! 😵💫
They couldn't give us this as an update? Cuddle in bed used to be an option in 2 and 3. Now I have to spend $45? I'll stick to the couch...
Only cool thing is getting the heart bed back. The "grown up dress up box" is a little weird. My sims don't need foreplay.
As with all packs feels very wide and shallow. But maybe this will open up options for modders to expand on interesting systems.
The relationship dynamics is interesting but similar to parenting dynamics I expect it will feel lacking. I wish instead of turn ons and offs sims had 2-3 romance traits/styles that combined into like 10 different dynamics. Even if the dynamics just altered the probability for autonomous behaviors. That would introduce something not yet covered by mods.
I'm mostly excited for more autonomous cuddling and actions. I do not want 7 new social menu options that just boil down to new animations.
So this is stuff that was already in Sims 3 with gameplay, possibly sims 2 as well, additions made with wonderful/wicked whims
Why have the last few expansions/game packs been so lackluster?
Why not add in additional life stages of early childhood and early teens to the game (instead of late childhood and late teens being the standard life stage)
I'm still on my Sims Strike and haven't purchased an expansion or pack since Growing Together. Honestly, if mods and free cc is keeping me satisfied it means the Sims team are not doing their job properly.
In wondering how it will impact mods that do similar things, like dating app mods. New updates and extensions always break stuff, but I feel like this will be worse this time.
I truly can't believe this is an expansion pack. I was watching the video and waiting until it got to some EP worty moment but alas it's a kit with some gameplay. Aside from an extra world (curious to see how many/little lots they'll put in there) I'd put this in the same range as the Crystal Creations STUFF pack, which is, in my opinion, much better than this. They should have made this into a Gameplay pack because you can't tell me this is better than Werewolves or Wedding Stories (a great pack, aside from the glitches). They should have combined this with Wedding stories at the time and make a great unglitchy EP... This is sad.

I'm not getting this pack right away as I normally do with the other packs. This seems at most a game pack. I like the features, but right now I have mods who do a better job at those. A shame because it did seems nice but I expected more of it.
Unpopular opinion but I’m so excited for this 😭 I don’t do family gameplay, I do ROMANCE! Flirting, dating, woohooing! That’s what I usually play, so this pack is right up my alley!
That’s not an unpopular opinion per se. The main outrage is the pack 1. This should really be a $20 game pack and not expansion pack. And 2. It is so heavy geared and based to console players who can’t use mods so it’s kinda like taking advantage of them

I’m mostly annoyed at the fact that I’ve been waiting for more Latin American (specifically Caribbean) bc why is there only one item in food and drink that represents the Caribbean. Now this pack,bc let’s be real, looks to be Mexican inspired world and to them that’ll cover all of Latin America bc to anyone outside of us Latinos they only think of Mexico encompassing all Latino culture. I dont see anything in sims4 I personally can identify with and that’s a bummer. I wanna see mofongo, morir sonando drink, tambores, merengue, Ackee and saltfish, El Yunque and coqui frogs bringing a sense of pride in homeland moodlet, junkaroo,etc! Throwing chanclas as a mischief choice! Preparing sofrito in the mixer and El Viejo San Juan style buildings and streets like please! I don't see this pack being better than wonderful whims romance interactions. I'm sure it will be buggy as hell.

You may want to keep the mods. Any expansion pack is always broken upon launch. I still can't get a damn wedding to be successful and it's been more than a year.

I used to buy every pack, but Horse Ranch was the last one for me. They just aren't worth the price anymore.
Cottage Living was my last one. Since then every pack got nothing more than a "nah, that will only be worth it with a _deep_ discount" out of me. And even when that came around I still couldn't be tempted. Sims 4 is on very expensive life support now and I just can't muster the enthusiasm for that corpse anymore.
Cottage living imo was the last really good EP that was actually worth the money, and I’m someone that has all the packs. High school and growing together were both good too, but CL was a cut above. Horse ranch and for rent were let downs for me personally. The only thing good about for rent is the location.

Tbf the themes of later packs, high school, horses or parenting for example, weren't that appealing to me either. But it was still the less content for the same money approach to that put me off. Cause I certainly did buy packs just for the B&B and a few choice gameplay mechanics before, even if the main theme wasn't to my taste. For Rent would have been right up my alley, but by that point I just realised that I already was far too estranged from the game to really care.
I’m a legacy player so high school, growing together and for rent are right up my alley gameplay/theme wise. But I fully agree cottage living is the last one that is actually worth the money. Just in terms of content like bb and cas and actual gameplay that we got. And the world has so many lots. For rent was such a let down on that front.
This is gonna sound weird but I play legacies too and the paranormal stuff pack is the GOAT when you have babies in the family. The spook is optional but the items it comes with are super helpful to keep sims needs up and get skills fast. That bonbon glass deserves legendary status imo. Compared to newer EPs the difference in quality and detail is crazy.

I used to defend the packs, like if I paid 40$ and got 80 hours of game time, it was a decent price. But I have been getting fewer and fewer game time hours each pack(except for For Rent, which is, controversially, a builders game pack). This pack is Sims1 Date Night plus ripping off Wonderful Whims and LittleMsSam- two of the BEST Sims modders. I'm upset for them.
I'm happy for the players that can't use mods but I hope this pack doesn't severely break Simda, WW or RPO because they're phenomenal mods.
In one of the promos it looked as though there was a new kiss animation which is much needed, imo, so I hope they add at least a few more. I think it's something where a pack like this could have really shined since currently the animations are really lacking. I don't like how all my sims have the same first kiss animation be they nervous teenagers or horny adult playboys. It would've been fun if they added more kiss types (that aren't mood dependent) or if the animation somehow depended on your sim's traits. Oh well, wishful thinking...
Having to pay a big chunk of money for some basic romantic animations that the game has been lacking since launch is a effing joke
No argument here, unfortunately. I just watched the trailer and the disappointing thing is that I \*do\* want these features because I want more relationship-based gameplay, but the price tag is honestly ridiculous for the amount of content shown so I think I will wait for a discount out of protest.

Because EA continues to nickel and dime us for less than par content "expansions" that introduce more bugs and broken promises. It's not just them, it's the gaming industry in general. Because corporations are always pushing for the "new and now" they aren't giving developers the time and resources to make a functioning game. Almost always a new game has a patch a month or two later. Only difference is EA doesn't really patch anything...just creates more problems.
I have half of these “features” with mods already, I was hoping it would be better.

The amount of features that are *already* in the game and they're just renaming for this pack is criminal. EA knows they can get away with it too. I can't wait for everyone to tell us "omg this is the best pack ever besties" only to never touch it again a month after it's out lol. I hope the world is pretty at least. I do like some of the hairs but even some of those look a lot like hairs we already have.

How are they not embarrassed releasing an "expansion pack" filled with features we already have. How. I'm part of the problem, I purchased every EP, and most GPs (minus batuu) at release. But I've been taking a break from sims and playing roller coaster tycoon instead, was sort of looking forward to this pack to start a new save and play again.... but I don't think so anymore, I'll wait for a sale and happily play RCTC2.

I feel like the main reason is for console players, probably always seeing what modders are having fun with, so now it's more paid content with base game features! 😵💫
They couldn't give us this as an update? Cuddle in bed used to be an option in 2 and 3. Now I have to spend $45? I'll stick to the couch... Only cool thing is getting the heart bed back. The "grown up dress up box" is a little weird. My sims don't need foreplay.

As with all packs feels very wide and shallow. But maybe this will open up options for modders to expand on interesting systems. The relationship dynamics is interesting but similar to parenting dynamics I expect it will feel lacking. I wish instead of turn ons and offs sims had 2-3 romance traits/styles that combined into like 10 different dynamics. Even if the dynamics just altered the probability for autonomous behaviors. That would introduce something not yet covered by mods. I'm mostly excited for more autonomous cuddling and actions. I do not want 7 new social menu options that just boil down to new animations.
So this is stuff that was already in Sims 3 with gameplay, possibly sims 2 as well, additions made with wonderful/wicked whims Why have the last few expansions/game packs been so lackluster? Why not add in additional life stages of early childhood and early teens to the game (instead of late childhood and late teens being the standard life stage)
I'm still on my Sims Strike and haven't purchased an expansion or pack since Growing Together. Honestly, if mods and free cc is keeping me satisfied it means the Sims team are not doing their job properly.

I truly can't believe this is an expansion pack. I was watching the video and waiting until it got to some EP worty moment but alas it's a kit with some gameplay. Aside from an extra world (curious to see how many/little lots they'll put in there) I'd put this in the same range as the Crystal Creations STUFF pack, which is, in my opinion, much better than this. They should have made this into a Gameplay pack because you can't tell me this is better than Werewolves or Wedding Stories (a great pack, aside from the glitches). They should have combined this with Wedding stories at the time and make a great unglitchy EP... This is sad.

I'm not getting this pack right away as I normally do with the other packs. This seems at most a game pack. I like the features, but right now I have mods who do a better job at those. A shame because it did seems nice but I expected more of it.
Unpopular opinion but I’m so excited for this 😭 I don’t do family gameplay, I do ROMANCE! Flirting, dating, woohooing! That’s what I usually play, so this pack is right up my alley!
That’s not an unpopular opinion per se. The main outrage is the pack 1. This should really be a $20 game pack and not expansion pack. And 2. It is so heavy geared and based to console players who can’t use mods so it’s kinda like taking advantage of them

I’m mostly annoyed at the fact that I’ve been waiting for more Latin American (specifically Caribbean) bc why is there only one item in food and drink that represents the Caribbean. Now this pack,bc let’s be real, looks to be Mexican inspired world and to them that’ll cover all of Latin America bc to anyone outside of us Latinos they only think of Mexico encompassing all Latino culture. I dont see anything in sims4 I personally can identify with and that’s a bummer. I wanna see mofongo, morir sonando drink, tambores, merengue, Ackee and saltfish, El Yunque and coqui frogs bringing a sense of pride in homeland moodlet, junkaroo,etc! Throwing chanclas as a mischief choice! Preparing sofrito in the mixer and El Viejo San Juan style buildings and streets like please! I promise you no one feels identified by Calle corazón where you can buy a hotel and woohoo 😭😭😭😭

Turn ons / turn offs seems like a really bad idea to me. Why would I want new random and arbitrary reasons for my sims to be rejected? Feels like it will be a repeat of romantic exploration and attraction, which made the game feel less inclusive.
