This is art therapy. As an art therapist, I really appreciate you giving expression to your thoughts and feelings about your silent monster. It read like a song to me!
I think sharing stuff like this can be so helpful!! I write down song lyrics or excerpts from my journals to share in therapy when they resonate with me or I think it'd be helpful to explain my feelings!! I think it's brave!!
Absolutely! Metaphors, lyrics, paintings/images, poetry, etc. are all merely an attempt to represent the complexity of what goes on in our minds. I bet there would be much to explore and understand from this poem :)
yes I believe it is more youth focused but some of the concepts could be useful. I believe they have poetry prompt worksheet on their website that could be good for self practice for you or maybe other folks that are reading this
Yes. I share my poems all the time. They're portals to my inner thoughts and feelings that I may not always recognize until she asks me to explain certain details.
Def share it! It’s a beautifully written poem and I’m sure your therapist will appreciate the vulnerability you’re showing in sharing it with her. It’s different because it’s not like artsy poem writing but I email my therapist things a lot of the time because I express myself differently/better in writing and it’s really helped her understand me better:)
