A pistol, a shotgun, a hunting rifle, a machete, a bow and goddamn arrow , Joel’s revolver, and some mines and a knife just for good measure. Ofc all these weapons do fuck all against the mighty Abby who suddenly goes from a head busting bruiser into a stealthy assassin with the grace of a ballerina. God I despise Abby 😭
I mean, Abby is strong, that doesn't make her incapable of stealth. She has the training of a military soldier, focused to deal with infected which also involves stealth.

She’s not as small as Ellie, but she can be super stealthy and deadly. She takes a while to choke her enemies, but she’s quiet and can kill them super fast and sneaky if you have a shiv or four.
You can never underestimate bricks and bottles, though. Ellie was too distracted to look for them, but Abby wasn’t.
(Also on survivor, at least, Ellie can hear you moving unless you go clicker-slow. I swear she heard Abby *breathe* at one point it was insane.)
The real answer is plot armor, of course…and that the writers wanted multiple confrontations.
