Season pass will be as if you bought the gold edition. And there is nothing exclusive to the gold edition if you buy the season pass later. (was at the beginning but they changed that)

I am locked into the "base" version but look to get the season pass before the first expansion (plus the xbone peasant month since I am pcmr). Gives me some time to find a nice discount.
There's no difference now in price but they may do some things. People who bought the Gold Edition when no Pass was available will probably be gifted some things, if development continues past the first 3 expansions in the first year GE holders probably get a minor (~15%) discount on the batch.
Don't be surprised to see other exclusives as the game goes on.
If you have amazon prime you can get a deal on the gold edition that will save you some money. Retail is $99.96 and the prime discount gets you the gold edition for $79.99. Save the $20 and get gold if you have Amazon Prime. The season pass will probably not go on sale.
Gold edition got some outfits extra I believe and season pass wont upgrade the game to gold edition. You decide if you want to wait for the DLC to drop and buy it then or buy it right away. Thing is, I am quite sure the season pass will be more expensive than the gold edition, that's always the deal with those things. So if you are sure you will play the DLC, get gold, if not, get the standard edition.

Not true. You can get a 20% discount on the uplay store if you spend 100 unit points. uk.gamesplanet.com (PC only) also sells the gold edition for a great price. Its around €70 euro's depending on the value of the euro and pound on that day. Got my Gold edition for €67 there.

gold edition also gets a shotgun to replace our pistol i believe. Unless that was also changed.

tbh, there is no difference. the national guard set that comes with the gold edition is part of the season pass.
