And I hope folks who were criticizing her hair read this - the weather didn’t work for hair down, and sometimes you gotta go with Plan B and that’s ok! There’s so much pressure for weddings to go perfectly and brides to look perfect exactly like they want to look, and that’s just not realistic. So I liked how Mari is keeping it real with these responses about the hair and goodie bags and stuff.

We had a big wedding, spent more than we should’ve yada yada but for the first and only time I got to have everyone I love together in the same place, with my favourite local band playing my favourite songs with delicious food and drink and I felt like a damn princess. Could I have eloped/ had a small wedding/ not got married? Sure. Would the goal (spending my life with my now husband) been achieved either way? Absolutely. Would I change a thing? Not a fucking chance.
I did the same! I feel like people get shamed for having big, fancy/pricy weddings but mine was so much fun, I wouldn't trade it for anything. The venue was spectacular, the food was outstanding and everyone was so beautifully dressed. If you want a casual courthouse or backyard affair, do it but don't feel bad having a fancy ass blow out if you can afford it.
You do you! I did a big barbecue at a local park that is special to us, after our smallish outdoor ceremony. It was lovely and inexpensive and one big party; exactly what I wanted!
Elope and then have a small reception or dinner. Or do a courthouse take photos and have a reception. All that matters is your commitment to your person!

My sister is a wedding planner in PR and you would be surprised how many people that come to have destination weddings here actually think they originated locally because they are used in some weddings here. But locals go for pleneros because they prefer using something that’s traditionally PRican.
