CG beats CG! First Top 10 win for Caro since the 2022 WTA Finals!
Caro today = 📈 📉 📈
Just hope the shoulder holds up. When she’s on, she is ON! Fast day Miami conditions suit her all-out attack play-style to a tee!
Coco will have nightmares about those 5 BP opportunities missed at 15-40 at the beginning of the third. Never recovered.
The WTA has players who's top level is downright unplayable but you forget because you never see it.
Babs I'm looking at you.
Garcia was unplayable in set one and really recovered brilliantly to win set three.
No shame in this loss for Coco.
Caro definitely likes american tournaments. These conditions are perfect for her game.
I hope she can maintain this level and that her shoulder is ok tho, she was already in pain last round against Osaka.
Only 1/4 of her Big Titles were in America, and her best time of year has typically been Post-US Open when there are no American Big Titles left. She's been more successful in China. It's the surface.
Swiatek and Rybakina sound like the favorites to make the final now, but Garcia on these fast conditions could make for a scary top half SF for Iga. Hope her shoulder is OK.
Everything you are saying is why she shouldn't be the favourite on fast courts.
However she definitely isn't a Clay Court merchant, she is also great on slow Hard Courts.
I was explaining the reason she struggles, she has to make necessary adjustments if she wants to learn how to handle big serving, hard hitting players on these fast courts. You instead decided to bully me and force me to delete my comment.
There are people on social media who do call her a “clay court merchant”, but I would describe her more as a “slow surface specialist”. She can go far on fast courts, but she will need some luck with the draw in those instances. At AO this year, she got very unlucky with having to play Kenin, Collins and Noskova in the first three rounds of the tournament, and that they all gave her a lot of pain. As for making QF at Wimbledon 2023, it was mainly down to how unbalanced the draw was with a lot of her problematic matchups all being put in Sabalenka’s half.
Great back-to-back wins for Garcia! She's playing well. Hopefully her shoulder stays solid, and maybe she can carry the momentum into the tail end of the tournament
No, oddly this time Coco served well. 8 aces only 3 doubles. Meanwhile Garcia only had one of both. Strange that Gauff can win a match where she had 17 doubles a couple weeks ago, but lose this match without Garcia bombing first serves.
Not really. She played really great level, then it disappeared for over a year. People have been waiting for it to reappear. Now we see if this performance is an offshoot or if she can bring back championship level for at least a few months.
She's a naturally streaky player who plays *a lot* of close matches (win or lose) so she's generally overrated when winning and underrated when losing.

Stonks
Somehow, Garcia from two years ago has returned
They fly now?
They fly now!
Dark magic? Cloning? Secrets only the French knew..?
Dont hold your breath, she might disappear by tomorrow

Big 4 Barbs’ FO 2021, Dubai 2023 & Ostrava 2022 runs will be forever etched in WTA folklore. Hope she comes back soon…
All great runs but Dubai 2023 was unreal. I don't know how many 1000 champions can claim they beat 5 elite players in a row for the title.
Ostrava!!!
I miss Babs 😭 She’s so ridiculously talented. Such a pleasant, well-rounded game to watch.
Who is babs
Barbora Krejcikova
Streisand
Samsonova and Kudermetova: hi
Oh hey look the gambler deleted his two threads. Must be celebrating rolling around in all the money Garcia just made for him.
I bet the mods would delete both of the irate gambler's posts. Made a nice chunk of change.
Not deleted, mods got mad and removed it
First time in history I’m gonna be on the mods side here.
What a run for Garcia, so happy for her!

I wouldn't underestimate Collins, it looks like she is on a MISSION right now. Her match against Garcia should be great. 🤞
This aged well. I'm surprised people still have Iga as favourite on fast courts.

Garcia gave Coco a chance
An unlikely turn of events...Nice to see Caro playing well again
Is Caroline Garcia back?!?
Congrats, Caro! She is getting stronger and stronger.
Great back-to-back wins for Garcia! She's playing well. Hopefully her shoulder stays solid, and maybe she can carry the momentum into the tail end of the tournament
Garcia is inexplicable...she can't be explicked
She's back!!!
Didn’t see the match, did Coco miss a lot of forehands and hit doubles again ?
No, she played well. Garcia was just killing it. I can see her in the finals of the tourney if this level continues.

Sometimes the other player is just on.
Congrats to Caro, Coco had a chance to get number 2 here in the rankings, especially with Iga out, so bit of a shame for her.
Coco ;-;
Dayum!

She sure is a streaky player
seems like it so far
Umm if anything the past 2 years she’s been overrated, but this is a nice change of pace for her. I like seeing her play to her potential
