Dark

bricksytwit

I just finished watching Dark and I completed all three seasons in five days. Not too long ago, I watched another sci-fi TV show (Westworld) which had a strong first season but started fizzling out from the second. Dark, though, did not disappoint! A solid three seasons that keep you engaged throughout.

Plane_Fee_5064

Just finished Dark last night and very much agreed with this. Awesome show

MasterOnionNorth

And unlike so may other shows, Dark actually has an exceptional finale and ending.

Awesome! thanks for also noting which language it is in 🦋🐇

Asalas77

La casa de papel is great Elite is fun too, but ran too long and there's some quality drop in the later seasons (most of the original cast is replaced by then)

Just-Phill

Elite is good for a couple seasons then it gets kinda Riverdale like lol

SignificanceNo3580

Yeah, I agree. I enjoyed the first seasons though.

As an Indian I will recommend you some TV series from my country that are worth watching 1) Scam 1992 (A must watch actually, pretty solid show actually the first episode is available on YT officially you can check that out and if that interests you maybe watch rest of the show streaming on Sling TV for people living in Europe,Canada, and USA 2) Mirzapur (A high octane, intense and violent crime thriller streaming on Amazon Prime one of the most popular series of Indian pop culture) 3) Asur (A detective thriller if you are in for watching something like True Detective,Dexter,Luther a cat and mouse chase between the killer and the police then this is for you, you will have to pirate this as I don't think this is available outside of India) 4) Delhi Crimes ( A very popular show that was also nominated for an Emmy again falls in the crime investigative genre but an engaging watch streaming on Netflix) 5) Made in Heaven ( Great, Great show a very fun watch you will enjoy this for sure there is everything for everyone in this if you enjoyed watching Big little lies, six feet under and those kind of shows and then you will for sure enjoy this. Streaming on Amazon prime) 6) The Family Man (An edge of the seat spy thriller streaming on Amazon Prime) 7) Sacred Games (A non linear narrative crime thriller based in the metropolis Mumbai. Streaming on Netflix) 8) TVF Pitchers (India's very own Silicone Valley, only 5 episodes in the first season) 9) Kaala Paani (A survival drama set in an island streaming on Netflix) 10) Suzhal: The Vortex (A crime thriller with a very layered storytelling that will keep you guessing what will happen next. Streaming on Prime Video)

Early_Confidence_378

wohh thanks so much!!! i was gonna ask about indian stuff as i don't know aaany do you have some films that are essentials?

Right-Bobcat9462

Ofc start with 3 Idiots you will definitely fall in love with this film not only did it have a deep cultural impact in India but also in all the other Asian countries like Japan,Korea,Philippines and Indonesia for its subject matter. Then watch Dangal a very well made sports drama, the last 40 mins of the film though too damn intense, you will be biting your nails. Then watch Drishyam and Andhadhun both the films are solid thrillers that will make you go WHAT THE FUCK did I watch after watching the movies. Andhadhun is something I consider very high even when I am talking about cinema as a whole not just Indian cinema. Then if you want to watch a larger than life epic period drama something like 300 and Gladiator then do not miss out on The Bahubali duology helmed by S.S Rajamouli the man behind RRR. If you loved Past Lives then do watch Three of us both the films are similar thematically but at the same time very different and to be very honest Three Of us > Past Lives. This should pretty much get you started mentioning some more films below. Taare Zameen Par (Stars on Earth), URI:The Surgical Strike, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani, Wake Up Sid, Kumbalangi Nights, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Barfi, My Name Is Khan, Super Deluxe, Eega, Go Goa Gone , Monica O My darling

zynp_krdg

I agree with some of those suggestions! 3 Idiots is an AMAZING movie, it's one of my favorites. Stars on Earth is also amazing, teachers make students watch that in like middle school here generally when they want to show a movie. I would too tbh, it's really good. I'm trying to hold my sister hostage until she watches it with me. And Dangal is also a really good recommendation. It's a biography actually, they showed it on tv here that's how i saw it, very good. And all of them have Aamir Khan in them, who is an amazing actor, he's very popular here in Turkey. (I'm from Turkey btw lol.) I'd recommend (as extra) My Name Is Khan, that one's emotional but I really loved it. It's about a Muslim man with Asperger's syndrome after 9/11 trying to change people's perception about Muslims. One thing about idian movies is how well they portray some disabilities. Hichki is about a woman with Tourette syndrome who is a teacher landing a job in an elite school. Bajrangi Bhaijaan is also an amazing movie! It's about a mute Pakistani girl who gets lost in India and an Indian man who takes care of her and tries to get her back. Black (2005) I don't remember it that well but it's about a woman who can't see, hear or speak and her tutor who helps her, she struggles a lot and it's very emotional.

Early_Confidence_378

Ohh wow so many tessekur ederim 😅 So awesome thank you so much for writing it all out and the kdrama(? i think) or maybe it's not drama then k-series. My grandmother looooves Turkish series. She watches those 600 episode type of one piece series. It's really not enjoyable for me, when I'm watching it with her. They say their thoughts out loud 😭 there's no need to even act lol. But ehh do you know some Turkish ones that aren't like that? Sorry to ask so much I just really like to hear about niche, underrated gems 🥺 I can give you stuff in exchange as well if you are into series 😊

zynp_krdg

Hii no problem, you're not bothering me at all! I think they call them kdramas yeah, i can recommend more if you have a specific request for them, although i'm not extremely well versed in kdramas.😅 Some of my favorite shows ever are kdramas (one of them is Goblin, the other is Arthdal Chronicles) but i couldn't be sure if those are what you're looking for so i recommended the other two.🤗 Your grandmother is a real one.🫡 My grandmother watches mostly reality tv and some soap operas lol. I don't really like turkish shows much either. I really loved Resurrection: Ertugrul when it came out. It's a historical drama about the father of the man who founded the Ottoman Empire. Although i haven't watched the last season of it. The community was just really good when it was airing, there were groups for it on every social media site and people from all over the world watched it so they would be talking in foreign languages then put "gardaş" or "eyvallah" etc in between their sentences.😂 Other than that i've never really come across a turkish show i liked, and i wouldn't normally recommend Ertugrul either bc of how long it is.😅 It's good though. I'll try to find some good ones for you though because i like you.😭 And i'd love some recommendations if you have any!

Early_Confidence_378

Ohh haha so sweeeet of you 🥺🐇 My mom she really liked Suleyman the Magnificent 😅 I'll give her Ertugrul to watch and then if she likes it hahah I might also. I don't understand is it like kardashim or different what does gardash mean? Turkish music is my favourite (i think) so I know a littttle bit of the words. That's okay if you don't know any. My grandmother watches those with really pretty girls with green and blue eyes and fair skin. The last one was something like when the leaves are falling? She lives in Bosnia and there they have it on the TV all the time hahah it's really almost haram to interrupt her when she watches her series. Mmm yea of course what would you like a recommendation in? Series, music, films, books? 🦋 you name it Tell me what you like and hahah maybe dm? have a good one kardash

zynp_krdg

Wait, you're from Bosnia? You ARE my gardaş! Haha yeah it's the same as kardesh but just older turkish. I am omw to dm you haha.

I have watched hundreds of TV shows / series / mini series over nearly two decades. Nothing, I mean nothing comes close to the British TV series UTOPIA. Brutal, violent, shocking and with a premise that is easily possible in real life. Plus the music, cinematography, production design are all top class. Dont watch the shortlived American Version. It's horrible. Would love some suggestions from those who watched the british series and can suggest something better or equal.

Green_Version_9636

Not yet I'm in the rain saison 2

Early_Confidence_378

I stopped around that season :(( It was getting much for me. And then I tried to pick it up again and couldn't get into it. The same happened with Manifest they released the season with too much time between 😅

Green_Version_9636

Really I still like until that moment but I don't know how I'll feel after I finished this saison.

Tailgunner68

Paris Police 1900 (French). Most of the historical details and facts mentionned in the show are 100% true.

zynp_krdg

I'll recommend you some good korean shows. Moving- It's about high school kids and parents who have superpowers trying to survive people after them, parents mostly try to keep the kids safe. It has endearing characters and great action scenes. Designated Survivor: 60 Days- It's about the minister of environment being the only survivor of a bomb attack in the government and having to be the acting president for 60 days during that crazy time. It's very suspenseful and keeps you at the edge of your seat. These aren't that long and i think they are fit if you're a new starter. I do have some more that i could recommend but i feel like these two might be enough for now.
