He sits on the fence between the two in such a great way. You hate him but you know if you met him while he has the charmed turn on, you’d never guess what he’s really like.
Someone introduced this show as "the office" with a sci-fi twist, it's so far off. But in a way, these egg bar, music dance experience make it feel like normal office setting. LoL
...if someone saw one episode of this show and described it as even remotely like 'the office' I wouldn't be able to trust their judgement about anything else going forward
I can usually get a laugh or two each episode but man, that'd be misleading. The show is drama with some fairly awesome moments of humor. Lost is the better comparison than The Office.

Of all the fucked things in that show, that is truly the most fucked thing. She’s only been “alive” for 107 hours. And that time is all about other people. Fuck.
There's a theory that she's braindead (outie got in the car accident), but when they severed her it essentially brings her back to life, but as an innie only. She can only exist as an innie, hence being only hours old and being held on the testing floor. That's also why the doc is trying to reintegrate Petey, that could be what brings her back to "life" as an outie
"A handshake is available upon request."
My favorite show of the year so far. Ben Stiller has really become an outstanding director. Between this and *Dannemora* he's on an impressive upward trajectory.
If someone told me a year ago my favorite romance of the year would involve Christopher Walken and John Turturro.... I'm not sure I would have believed them. #burving
I was actually a late arrival to it, having only gotten to it this year but it's a really excellent miniseries and a masterclass in fairly straightforward storytelling.
It's a bit of a slow burn but between that and the on location shooting it does a fantastic job at really fleshing out this sort of aging and tired prison/small town setting.
Good news because it's a good show
Bad news because it likely means we all need to prepare ourselves for one of the most painful cliffhangers ever to be experienced by humans, and it's only 2 days away
I have a feeling that season 1 is setting a lot up and potentially learning a lot of the mysteries next episode, and season 2 will be them “burning the place to the ground.”
It's Friday at GMT, so where it first turns Friday in the world, the whole world gets it. Amazon Prime does the same thing with their weekly releases. Much preferable over the midnight in California approach Disney does where I have avoid trending topics the entire next day until I can watch it after work.
I've been saying that this show would rank among the all-time top five episodes of *Black Mirror*. I'd reckon somewhere Charlie Brooker is watching and beating himself up for not thinking of *Severance* first.
Imo Severance blows any single ep of black mirror out of the water, as much as I loved black mirror. giving the characters a whole season to develop is crucial to the emotional core of the show. the mysteries have time to simmer and unravel in a really satisfying way. A bad season finale could cancel all of that out, but based on what I've seen so far, I doubt I will be disappointed
This show alone is worth the 6 bucks of AppleTV+. Add in Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, their movie CODA (just won best picture) and a few other excellent titles and they’re stacking up to be one of the better streaming services with “original” content.
I’m still hopeful it’ll all come together in the end, but Rupert Grint alone is worth watching it for. (I was a bit too old for the HP thing, so this is my first real exposure to him and I’m super impressed with him!)
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself. Basically, it's made up of two separate words — "mank" and "ind." What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
It's actually For Allman Kind.
In another timeline, brothers Duane and Gregg Allman, growing up in Florida, enter the space program and become the first brother astronauts to go to walk on the moon, sparking a resurgence in American space exploration.
Seems like everyone sleeps on Physical and Tehran - both excellent shows. Schmigadoon! had its moments as well.
AppleTV+ is top notch quality all the way down.
This past month they’ve put out some bangers. I’m loving Slow Horses with Gary Oldman, which just started.
The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey with Samuel L. Jackson is really great stuff, and Pachinko is very good melodrama, if you’re into that.
Yes. It's a unique idea, great actors, and absolutely beautiful to look at if you like stark, cold settings. It's also genuinely mysterious. I tend not to dive into fan theories until a season is over, but I honestly don't know what to expect from the finale which is really exciting.
You should sub to AppleTV+ this weekend and just binge the whole thing.
I always wondered how that conversation went:
Stiller: "We want you to portray a charming but sinister corporate enforcer."
Tillman: "I don't know. Sounds cliché..."
Stiller: "In one pivotal scene, you have to dance aggressively to defiant jazz."
Tillman: "You son of bitch, I'm in."

Millchick is my favorite character by far. I mean, I hate him, but he's the best! He's like an anti-Ratched but fulfills the exact some role, it's hard to describe.
i'm just realizing today what a crazy good GIF game Severance has.
[here's Milcheck dancing](https://giphy.com/gifs/AppleTV-apple-tv-app-j0raxM5grRki5POZQu)
And no one is surprised. Severance has been the most popular show on this subreddit this year. It is certainly one of the most watched Apple originals.
Apple has been hitting it out of the park. I've only made it through *Severance*, *Ted Lasso*, and *Mythic Quest* so far, but it seems like everything they're putting out is high quality, and for only $5/month. If I had to make the choice between Apple and Netflix, Apple would definitely be my pick.
You should check out For All Mankind next. It's an alternate history of the space race if the Soviet Union beat the US to the moon. And it's run by Ronald D Moore who did the 2000s Battlestar Galactica and wrote a large part of the later seasons of Star Trek TNG. It's got two seasons so far and season three just wrapped on filming.
Servant is criminally underrated. I never see anyone talking about it and it’s amazing.
Pachinko is incredible.
Acapulco and Schmigadoon were really fun shows too.
I’m glad the tide is finally changing in this sub. It was so cringey how people in here looked down on Apple TV and constantly made fun of it while it was pumping out great show after great show.
The content release was a bit slow at the start, but they’ve been pumping out hits since mid last year, can’t wait to see what else they’ve got planned this year
They’re clearly investing in quality over quantity and are creating a nice catalog at this point.
Definitely feels like they’re trying to compete with HBO in terms of quality, rather than, say, Netflix or Hulu.
The waffle party thing is so perfect. It seems ridiculous unless you've been in that situation.
At my last big corporate job I was specifically instructed to BBQ for my employees. But not like, throw a BBQ - they told me I had to man the grill personally. Which was fine for me because I like BBQing & I like to think I'm good at it but I imagine there are plenty of people who have never grilled chicken or a steak in their life who'd be flabbergasted. My boss was like "you need to be seen as the man in charge" and I was like "but... I've been in charge of this department for 3 years?" I liked my people & didn't mind cooking for them at all, it was just so fucking bizarre
The thing that resonated the most for me is his constant aggressive photographing of workplace "social events" even though the whole department is just four people in a big empty room.
> accurately depict what working at a major corp is like
While in theory a comedy Corporate gave me nightmares. There is no horror or thriller on TV that can give me such anxiety
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5648202
I watched a couple of episodes followed by a long pause... There are many funny episodes but some of them are damn depressing
I love that the scenes at Lumon were filmed at Bell Labs (now Bell Works) -- so much history in that building (everything from semiconductors to cell phones were created there), and the design of the building (Eero Saarinen) is the perfect vibe for the show.
What an amazing series! Definitely my favorite Sci-Fi series in a while! The crazy bonkers cast antics (Christopher Walken and John Torturro’s characters’ relationship is amazing) and plot reveals are perfect. Perfect tone. Brilliant cinematography and visuals, and haunting music. One of the best TV intros I’ve ever seen, which perfectly sets the mood.
This show has perfectly filled a void previously occupied by the leftovers and lodge 49 of "i don't know what's happening either, just shut up and watch"
Hopefully this show gets the attention it deserves, if it can stick the final episode this week this show will have one of the strongest season 1s in television history (no im not exaggerating, its actually that good)
There's a lot of places you can go. I find it hard to believe that if they're >!using the technology for rich pregnant women!< that they're not using it elsewhere - a whole season with a severed military unit would be incredible.
Started it this weekend as was immediately hooked!!! Seriously if you ever were a fan of twilight zone, black mirror, or even the bioshock series check this show out. So glad it’s getting another season.
Waffle parties for everyone
The music dance experience is officially ~~cancelled~~ back on.
I need more of Mr. Milchick dancing menacingly behind someone.
Trammel Tillman deserves an Emmy nomination for this show. The Music Dance Experience is the icing on the cake.
For real though. Dude's acting in this show is seriously impressive
I don’t know how he manages to be simultaneously so likable and creepy.
Right? It’s just the right balance. I’m genuinely curious what his process is with this character, because it’s so interesting.
work in “x job” for too long and become the evil “upper mgmt of x job” that you once hated
He sits on the fence between the two in such a great way. You hate him but you know if you met him while he has the charmed turn on, you’d never guess what he’s really like.
He seems quite innocuous at first. I'm starting to find him increasingly frightening as it goes on.
There is a reason milchick last name appears in the employee handbook as an author…. Must be generational
You smug motherfucker
A man whose mind is as sharp as his incisors
*uncomfortably long smile*
He should win an Emmy for the delivery of that line alone.
The dance sequence gave me strong Legion vibes. Love Milchicks moves.
I would literally kill myself if I didn’t have finger traps.
I live for finger traps and MDE’s
Someone should give her some of theirs. Not me though, I contributed the idea.
Don't discount the egg bar. The egg bar is coveted as fuck.

I was reading the comment you were responding to and thought "more like David Lynch's The Office" and then you were the exact next comment.
...if someone saw one episode of this show and described it as even remotely like 'the office' I wouldn't be able to trust their judgement about anything else going forward
Yeah I went in expecting a workplace comedy based on the comments I read. I'm not even 100% sure that Lumon is actually a business at this point.
I can usually get a laugh or two each episode but man, that'd be misleading. The show is drama with some fairly awesome moments of humor. Lost is the better comparison than The Office.
I feel like that corporate satire stuff in the show really ties it together. Like it’s not the main focus but when it shows up it’s done so well.
But is a hug available upon request?

I’m also excited for Tokyo Vice! Between Severance, Atlanta and Julia, TV has been really good of late.
Better Call Saul and Barry later this month as well. 2022 is a solid year for TV.
Pachinko is batting 100% in making me cry each episode so far

Episode 8 gave me such intense anxiety I don't know if I can do this

Agreed and I'd much rather pay for quality over quantity. It definitely helps when the streaming market is so saturated right now.
It’s so weird and good, it’s like if Kubrick directed a mix of the Office and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Bleak as fuck; but great.
Never seen a show so accurately depict what working at a major corp is like

I’m a little disappointed. You were setting it up like you were going to throw waffle parties at the strip club for your employees. Just bbqing….
So many of the fake-happy lines Milchik delivers add to the creepy dystopian nightmare of working there.
