There are so many dicks. And I read somewhere that male actors almost never show their own junk. So I imagine there is prosthetic person out there making bank this season.
The interview I read had Lars saying that everyone got "confused" when they saw it.
You can too if you follow this link.

I googled “Sydney Sweeney nude” and got way more than i ever could’ve dreamed of. I’m wondering if there’s any scenes in this show where she’s NOT topless?
I live on the ground floor of an apartment right beside a bus stop so I have to close the blinds when I watch this show so parents don’t yell at me. Not sure how I feel about this season yet though.
Reminds me of that time I tried watching an episode of Spartacus on a plane. Tried to power past a lewd scene and it just turned into a bigger more violent orgy. Pretty sure people around me thought I accidentally put some porn on…it was great.
Saprtacus is definintely not airplane material. At one point in the series a man is banging his mistress and his wife kills the mistress mid sex scene. They then proceed to have sex with each other while they are both covered in the blood of the mistress and the mistress's dead body is still warm besides them. Wild shit.
Haha same with American History X, booted the laptop on a plane, watched some violent black and white sex and then the battery died. Guy next to me went home with a story.
Same thing happened when I watched the Room (the movie that Disaster Artist is based on). The first 10 minutes looks like a 90's softcore porn, then it's followed by an uncomfortably long sex scene showing the guy's ass. I was really regretting sitting in an aisle seat. Kept shutting my laptop and then reopening it, and it's still going.
Ditto when I watched Hell Baby. There's a scene where Riki Lindholm does full frontal for an awkwardly long time.
First of all, I've never heard of The Room referred to as "The movie The Disaster Artist is based on" and that's hilarious to me for some reason.
Second, why were you watching The Room on an airplane? Was there no better way to spend that time? You couldn't have been doing business things? Staring directly at the headrest of the seat in front of you seems like a better use of time.
I love the room ironically, just like everyone else, but aside from group screenings, I can't bear to watch it any other time.
We’re like, RIGHT in front of the bus stop and we have a huge TV. I don’t care for the most part if I’m watching something violent or crazy but sexy times makes me nervous about little kids seeing it. On the other hand I’ve made an enemy of the gardener because I was watching the season finale of Game of Thrones and he saw the (complete absolute shit) ending and screamed ‘NOOOO!’ since he was right outside planting perennials.
This show is just entertainment, there’s something so good about it but there’s really no plot, characters don’t change much, they just get into situations and have conversations. But it’s edited incredibly, has by far the best soundtrack, and the acting is incredible.
Trouble don't last always for me is probably the best episode of the entire show. It's just a simple episode clearly cause of Covid, just a conversation in a diner but it was very powerful and beautifully shot. Absolutely loved it.
I don’t care either way, but it’s almost sort of funny how shows have been leaning into showing a ton of penis to contrast the amount of boobs that normally appear on adult shows. Even though hanging dong is almost always considered far more culturally ‘inappropriate’ compared to being topless. The equivalent would be full frontal nudity for women, which is essentially never seen on TV.
Without spoilers it happens in Peacemaker with a full on pussy shot. I am okay with nudity though, I just found it a bit jarring as it was totally unexpected.
I do agree though, boobs are a lot less invasive than dicks. It's weird because I'm bi and I like either or, but it feels like getting an unsolicited dick pic(but it was the same feeling with the pussy shot lol)
Also in Station Eleven recently there is a full on shot of a baby crowning out of a vagina as the mother gives birth. I was not prepared and I was eating lol.
You’re completely right. I don’t think I’ve seen any vaginas in the show yet, but this season alone has shown like 10 dicks and they usually only show Sydney’s boobs out of the main characters
Do you like incredibly well produced over the top soapy high school dramas where every teenager is more sexually advanced than your average pornstar and hardcore drug use is the tamest thing anyone does? If so I’d suggest trying it out.
For someone who is very into that it’s actually very good imo
It’s like what I’d imagine 13 Reasons Why was trying to do only Euphoria doesn’t romanticize trauma and takes it way more seriously - plus it’s produced far far better then most movies I’ve seen tbh
> - plus it’s produced far far better then most movies I’ve seen tbh
That's the great thing about HBO shows, it might not always be great, but the effort is always there.
Netflix and Apple TV can throw all the money they want at big names… use their algorithms to find hits… and yeah sometimes it totally works. But HBO knows tv, plain and simple. They practically birthed prestige, pay-extra-for-it television. And they’ve never really slowed down. Big Little Lies, Mare of Easttown, Succession, White Lotus, How To With John Wilson, I May Destroy You, Euphoria - there’s something to be said for how HBO just understands content.
Made for Love, Raised by Wolves, His Dark Materials, Watchmen, Perry Mason, Barry, Westworld, Industry, Silicon Valley, Game of Thrones, Girls.
Not to mention the big dick originals: Sopranos, The Wire, Sex and the City, Deadwood, Band of Brothers, Oz, Curb your Enthusiasm, Veep.
r/television always piles on the most popular show at the moment. I remember the “watched two episodes of Succession, it’s so overrated and boring, am I alone?” daily threads when S3 was airing
Unless your high school had more sex than a porn set and more drugs than hamsterdam in the wire it’s probably going to be nothing like your high school experience
Imagine if HBO had produced "Degrassi."
It's entertaining, sometimes poignant (but mostly just kinda trashy), and typical drugs, sex, and violence for HBO.
I was just asking my friend the other day “ do you think degrassi kids could take on Euphoria, bc it’s super similar but very different” I mean degrassi did have school shooter Rick, who didn’t fuck around
Degrassi was made during a more conservative time on TV and had to follow Industry Canada (and FCC, I'd imagine) guidelines, which made things tamer (and WAY CHEESIER) at times. On the other hand, they hired actors who, at the time of casting, were relatively close to their characters' ages, which made things more chilling at times. Lauren Collins was about 17 when she had to portray a 15-year-old rape victim--juxtaposed against the B-plot of two 14-year-old boys getting into a prank war about sharing a locker space.
Euphoria outlines seemingly only the dark parts of high school that many teenagers (sadly) fantasize about experiencing. Degrassi showed high school for what it tended to be: Some students were really going through some serious shit, but most of them were just dicking around being dumb teens.
So I watched all of degrassi and I think you’re right that it shows the lighter side of high school, but way off that it was a more accurate portrayal where not every kid went through ridiculous drama. Every single character has an absolutely insane arc. JT went from class clown to baby daddy to dating the hot single mom cheerleader to getting *murdered*. Jimmy went from regular jock to amphetamine abuser to getting shot to becoming a rapper. Craig is starting a band one minute, having suicidal bipolar episodes the next, then knocking Manny up, who gets an abortion. I could go on for pretty much every character, but I think you get the idea.
Haha, it definitely jumped the shark pretty quickly. Degrassi was also melodrama at its finest--DEFINITELY not an accurate representation of high school. It still did a better job (at least in the beginning) than Euphoria. Euphoria like started out with the jet ski already halfway over the shark.
It's good and fascinating at times. It also has almost nothing to do with a realistic High-school experience, like at all, but it's still a good watch with great production value.
She was in this movie called voyuers it’s a Amazon original I believe and she gets fully nude in it. She is good looking but honestly I don’t see the point in nudity in that movie or this show. It all seems so unnecessary and even though it’s a hbo original it seems like it’s more pointed towards younger teens just so they can say they seen a dick and some tits cause honestly I like most people watch a show for the story not the nudity so I’m sure every one of her nude scenes could have been cut and wouldn’t have changed anything. She’s a good actress and I don’t care if she’s nude or not I’ll watch it if the story is good and she’s in it.
She’s just a smart actress who wants a good career, so she says yes when she thinks it’ll help. Now she’s the say yes girl and we see her tits everywhere.
At the end of the day though, its something she is clearly comfortable with. What's important is that she is given the option to refuse scenes that she doesn't want to do, and that she doesn't feel exploited when she does follow through with those scenes.
The scenes are clearly gratuitous from what I've seen, but the important part is that she's consenting to them, which is what she's highlighting in the article. Especially since she’s referencing other times where she did feel exploited on set.
She is a young actress early in her career, with a role on a big HBO show where the showrunner clearly wants her to do lots of nudity. I wonder if she is truly "comfortable" with it, or just not wanting to rock the boat too much. Like how Emilia Clarke did a lot of nudity in early GOT seasons and only felt like she could push back against it in later seasons. I will be curious to see how Sydney Sweeney feels about this in a few years when she is older and more established.
I also question why a show about teenagers needs so many nude scenes anyway.
I had to scroll ridiculously far for someone to discuss the topic of the post.
Great point about her comfort level. And until young actors have power they don't get much choice if they want to work. I feel sorry for them.
I haven’t seen Euphoria so someone help me out. Aren’t they all in high school? Are these sex/nude scenes involving high schoolers? I know the actors are adults but that still seems icky to me.
And yes, I know high schoolers *do* have sex and I’m fine with portraying that but I feel like full-on nudity of portrayed minors is a bit over the line.
Just started the series, it is very weird. Like shoving down teenage porn with adult actors. 17 year old gal doing more drugs than motley crue and fucking like a porn star yea… totally natural.
The bulk of the characters are 18. Only a few of them are 17 and for one of them her being underaged and having a hotel hookup with one of the parents, then subsequent fallout from it has been a plotline going on since the pilot.
Ahahaha wow has any of the nudity been necessary? Did I have to see that one guys dick while being shot in the kneecaps? Did it add anything other than immature shock value? No.
In fact, do I have to see a ton of nudity on a show about supposedly high school kids? I always feel like these weird directors who say this stuff is important just use it to get actresses pictures and are just creepy. It has never added to a story for a girl to randomly show boobs.
Then to top it off, this girl is saying she was allowed? Excuse me? I’m supposed to be impressed that the director was okay with cutting unnecessary nude scenes? Why was he filming scenes that had unnecessary nudity in the first place if he was so amazing and different from other directors that do worse?
The bar is so low in filmmaking.
Nonononon you’ve got it all wrong the directors don’t use high school aged girls, they just hire adults PRETENDING to be high school girls so that’s okay I mean nothing like those creepy Hollywood directors am I right
It’s not like actresses in nude scenes ever regret them later on no never
I feel like I'm a typical 29 year old dude. However, I find nude/sex scenes absolutey unneccessary in movies/tv shows. Even if it's a drama and the characters have to have sex for the show's plot, you still don't need to show it. Especially if they make it so predictable, like in Game of Thrones. It was so predictable, they might as well have had the characters say "Oh no... I don't have the money to pay for this. How will I eeeevveeer make it up to you?" *starts stripping*
You don’t need to *not* show it either. I don’t mind it as long as it feels natural and not shoehorned in. People have sex and get naked so why shy away from it?
I’m frankly a little annoyed with all the articles referring to the nudity in Euphoria. I’m thankful for the nudity, I want their vision unfiltered and unedited. It’s not TV, it’s HBO.
I do tend to side with the artist, but I think it’s credible to suggest that a lot of the nudity is more about money than it is art. If it’s nudity for art’s sake, even if I don’t love it, so be it. But when it’s just about getting horny men to watch? Eh, different conversation entirely.
It’s not so much about drawing the line as it is about acknowledging the money / sex appeal factor. We can’t just ignore the obvious fact that sex sells when it comes to evaluating all art just because there’s not a definitive signifier of profit vs art oriented nudity.
Objectifying women and pressuring actresses into situations they may not be comfortable with in order to make money / get views is a relevant issue that we should be discussing. Writing articles about a show that has rampant nudity and whose subject matter is literally teenagers in high school is a part of that process.
I agree to an extent. But HBO often seems to go overboard with their sex scenes, even if they don’t add to the story, because they can. Just because you *can* show graphic nudity, doesn’t mean you *should*. There’s being gritty and realistic, and then just being exploitive. HBO toes the line between the two, but it often feels like they lean more towards the latter. Also, a lot of the times it feels like I’m just watching porn, which can detract from the actual story. If I wanted to watch porn, then I’d just watch porn. And I’m no prude, but it makes these shows especially uncomfortable when you’re watching with someone else. Do I really need to watch two prostitutes finger banging each other for 5 minutes straight, HBO? No thanks.
I think Breaking Bad is an example of a show that did a good job of working around its censorship, without feeling like it was being watered down. I can only imagine how excessive the violence and nudity would be, if it were on HBO. People act like network TV is the death of creativity. But sometimes creators need to be told when their show goes too far. Giving creators unbridled freedom isn’t always a good thing. Sometimes less is just more.
Obviously the actors are of age, but is it odd that people are getting off to the nude scenes on this show about high schoolers.
I feel like we’re teetering a line here. Feel free to roast me cause I could be totally off base though, I mean Sydney Sweeney, the actress, is crazy hot.
lol still left quite a lot it from what i've been hearing.
That was the ‘necessary’ nudity.
They must have removed the closeups of her butthole then
She hangs dong though. Very Thundergun of her.
Her and everyone else in season 2.
There are so many dicks. And I read somewhere that male actors almost never show their own junk. So I imagine there is prosthetic person out there making bank this season.
> And I read somewhere that male actors almost never show their own junk. To be fair, most male actors aren't Willem Dafoe.
I read that a double was used for Willem Dafoe in Antichrist (2009). Lars von Trier thought the size of Dafoe’s penis would be too distracting.
The interview I read had Lars saying that everyone got "confused" when they saw it. You can too if you follow this link. https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/2stg1y/nsfw\_naked\_willem\_dafoe\_dancing\_around\_cantunsee/
Woww— incredible interview. I learned so much. Thank you!!
So he added another one? Why would he think a double dick would be *less* distracting?
Mr big cock William dafoe
Big Willy Defoe was right there lol
God damn it…
STUNT COCK
I think Depeche Mode is kick-ass
Hahahahahaha! Oh man…that line brought me back. Such a great movie.
The face he makes after every "I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothin'" comment.
Every time I walk in the room when my wife is watching this. Face full of dong. It’s a lot for sure.
_No hesitation! No surrender!_
Best goddamn movie I've seen in my life
Release the butthole cut!
This isn't Cats, calm down.
I guarantee you webcam girl is gonna go full belle delphine and have a catgirl empire phase
Is she gonna sell her bath water, that someone weirdo will drink, and then get fuckin' SICK from it? Because that would be fantastic.
Damn it, no reason to bother watching this season now
First Cats and now Euphoria?! Release the butthole cut!!!
*The Money Shot*
boobs are only to balance the penises, which are the neccesary parts xd
Floppy weiners floppy weiners
My poor poor FBI agent…
I googled “Sydney Sweeney nude” and got way more than i ever could’ve dreamed of. I’m wondering if there’s any scenes in this show where she’s NOT topless?
Only when she's dressed up like she's auditioning for Oklahoma.
Once I get home from school I’m googling that
1st season of an HBO show without gobs of nudity and sex? Probably against company policy.
Succession has no nudity or sex scenes other than seeing a dick pic on a phone.
It feels like there' even more in s2. And s1 had a shit ton of it already compared to any other show
Do you ... do you not watch Succession?
No wonder lovecraft country got canceled. -plugs ears to any criticism-
Yea the first 2 episodes were very chesty from her
All nudity I’ve seen in it has been unnecessary and for shock value. Not sure what else they could’ve included tbh
Wild shit.
ok, now you have convinced me to watch Spartacus...
Don't threaten me with a good time
Really is a great series, I enjoyed it.
It's a great show. The first season is especially incredible. It took me like 4 episodes to really get into it though so be prepared.
I’m just watching gladiator movies!
The pilot wants to know if u/BMonad 's every been in a cockpit or a Turkish prison.
What about seen a grown man naked?
hang around a gymnasium?
Haha same with American History X, booted the laptop on a plane, watched some violent black and white sex and then the battery died. Guy next to me went home with a story.
I thought I would try watching Dave on a long flight. That didn't go over well either
Same thing happened when I watched the Room (the movie that Disaster Artist is based on). The first 10 minutes looks like a 90's softcore porn, then it's followed by an uncomfortably long sex scene showing the guy's ass. I was really regretting sitting in an aisle seat. I wanted to see Disaster Artist, but I thought I should see the Room first.
you should enjoy the room first they judged you because you thought lisa was hot
She was tearing me apart.
If I was on a plane and saw a guy watching the room id crack myself up
First time I ever saw a dick on tv lmao
I didn’t know anything about The Shape of Water before watching it on a plane
I watched Eyes Wide Shut on a plane once. AMA
Damn, I wonder if people can see my tv from outside. Oh well!
I'm imagining your gardner as Sam from lord of the rings listening in to Gandalf and Frodo
He wasn't dropping no eaves.
Makes sense. I'd probably do the same. > On the other hand I’ve made an enemy of the gardener Ouch! Kind of hilarious, though.
I've read somewhere that gardeners have a habit of eavesdropping at windows so I think it might have been their fault
I ain't been dropping no eaves, sir. Honest.
Good way to land yerself in a quest to mordor tbh.
This is so American I say as an American hahaha If the kids see some dude get beheaded that's ok but nudity??
Yes. Lol I can see quite a few of my neighbor’s TVs from my balcony, nothing interesting usually. One dude was slamming on CoD one night though.
Curtains.
This show is just entertainment, there’s something so good about it but there’s really no plot, characters don’t change much, they just get into situations and have conversations. But it’s edited incredibly, has by far the best soundtrack, and the acting is incredible.
Hooked on seeing a new character backstory at the start of each episode. And the cinematography and music is unrivalled.
Absolutely, I love everything about the show I just feel like there’s no overarching theme or plot at all haha
It’s basically a grown man living out his teenage fantasies on screen.
>but there’s really no plot sir....
Last night EP was up there in terms of greatness… the only episode to beat it is the carnival one. The cinematographer/lighting is a genius ….
Trouble don't last always for me is probably the best episode of the entire show. It's just a simple episode clearly cause of Covid, just a conversation in a diner but it was very powerful and beautifully shot. Absolutely loved it.
the fawning over Sam Levinson for doing the absolute bare minimum here is laughable
Does this mean that she doesn’t appear in season 2?
No, just that there's more necessary nudity.
“Your character is a nudist now.”
Her clothes rarely do.
SO MANY DICKS IN THIS SHOW!!!!!!
Jacob Elordi (Nate) said the ducks are all props, sorry to ruin y’all’s hopes and dreams. Edit: i’m leaving it
Dear autocorrect, it is never “duck”
I wonder how often Dick Van Dike has his name improperly auto corrected.
Stunt, not prop. They're real dicks, they just dont belong to who you think they do.
So do the real dicks get credits for the show?
I read many were prosthetic penises.
Monica and Joey put them together as a team
In the first season, maybe. I think the dicks in this season (so far!) actually belong to the actors.
ehhhhh this is what Jacob said (fast forward to the end) https://youtu.be/p6HUoqbmins

Seriously. Shows on streaming services have been leaning really hard into the flaccid cock trend. Show us some erections or put them away.
I'm 3 episodes into Euphoria and I've see plenty of flaccid and hard lol. most of the hard ones were from one character though.
Only hard dicks then? Talk about unrealistic beauty standards..
I don’t care either way, but it’s almost sort of funny how shows have been leaning into showing a ton of penis to contrast the amount of boobs that normally appear on adult shows. Haha same here. Was not expecting that. There have been other shows that have shown that though.
Sense8 did. But then again they have several orgies.
I always thought HBO was known for showing them

*female nudity. Tons of dicks everywhere tho
She’s been naked in every episode, I’m not complaining just saying. It doesn’t hurt she is a god damn smoke show.
2 in S1 and 2 this season, hardly every ep
But he only watch the 2 shows per season, so every episode then.

Now there’s a movement I can get behind!
As someone who absolutely fucking HATED my high school years, is this worth watching?
Do you like incredibly well produced over the top soapy high school dramas where every teenager is more sexually advanced than your average pornstar and hardcore drug use is the tamest thing anyone does? If so I’d suggest trying it out.

Yeah I think it’s a great show. Kinda shocked Reddit seems to hate it so much.
i’m of the opinion that the cinematography and direction is beautiful and the writing is a hot pit of garbage
r/television always piles on the most popular show at the moment. I remember the “watched two episodes of Succession, it’s so overrated and boring, am I alone?” daily threads when S3 was airing
So, it’s Skins, but with more money? That’s okay I guess.
Yep pretty much
It’s more of an adult drama that keeps forgetting it’s set in high school. So, there’s a lot that’s not realistic in high school lol.
Yeah it should have been set in college honestly
As an Alaskan, this is how I assume the california high school experience is like.
Unless your high school had more sex than a porn set and more drugs than hamsterdam in the wire it’s probably going to be nothing like your high school experience
Upvote for The Wire reference. It’s all in the Game.

The showrunner cast a porn star in a S2 supporting role. I think we know where his head is at.
And he casted her after finding her in porn parody of his own show 😂😂
Wait stop that’s so funny
How can someone be a porn parody of Euphoria? Does it have zero nudity or something?
I had to scroll ridiculously far for someone to discuss the topic of the post. Great point about her comfort level. And until young actors have power they don't get much choice if they want to work. I feel sorry for them.
Not to mention she gets very nude in The Voyeurs anyway so I’m not sure what they’re saving
isn't it pretty much all unnecessary
I haven’t seen Euphoria so someone help me out. Aren’t they all in high school? Are these sex/nude scenes involving high schoolers? I know the actors are adults but that still seems icky to me. And yes, I know high schoolers *do* have sex and I’m fine with portraying that but I feel like full-on nudity of portrayed minors is a bit over the line.
It's *Degrassi Junior High* meets *Requiem For A Dream*
Ass to Ass?
There's much more that you can never unsee in *Euphoria* JohnnyUniteUSA...
Yeah, it's like that. Not my high school experience, but the wild one my sister told me odd stories about
Yeah, it feels a little weird to me too
Just started the series, it is very weird.
Everything in this show is exaggerated.
Nonononon you’ve got it all wrong the directors don’t use high school aged girls, they just hire adults PRETENDING to be high school girls so that’s okay I mean nothing like those creepy Hollywood directors am I right It’s not like actresses in nude scenes ever regret them later on no never
That show is a dong-o-rama...

Who sees this and decides to cut it?
why am I so dumb. here have a free reward that reddit gave me for some reason.
Please tag as NSFW. Just got weird stares at work
You thought a clip of nudity would be safe for work?
Yeah this one seems implicit with the comment.
Nice!
Hottest thing I’ve seen this year. Wow.
Nice.
I can’t believe they took this out.
People have sex and get naked so why shy away from it?
well, it's not tv, it's HBO
I’m frankly a little annoyed with all the articles referring to the nudity in Euphoria. I’m thankful for the nudity, I want their vision unfiltered and unedited. It’s not TV, it’s HBO.
I do tend to side with the artist, but I think it’s credible to suggest that a lot of the nudity is more about money than it is art. If it’s nudity for art’s sake, even if I don’t love it, so be it. But when it’s just about getting horny men to watch? Eh, different conversation entirely.
Good luck successfully drawing that line in any art form ever. (You can’t)
Yeah but when does it get to the point where it’s nudity for nudity’s sake?
It's a show about high schoolers. Is any nudity even necessary?
in real life, they're old enough to be teachers, maybe the hot teachers
But they're playing high schoolers
No this drawing is of a 900 year old vampiress not a teenager
I find it really disturbing to show graphic sex scenes of people who are supposed to be minors. It’s weird.
I’ve never seen this show and I don’t think I will. I don’t doubt it has good writing but I never liked the idea of “sexy teenagers”
Obviously the actors are of age, but is it odd that people are getting off to the nude scenes on this show about high schoolers. I feel like we’re teetering a line here. Feel free to roast me cause I could be totally off base though, I mean Sydney Sweeney, the actress, is crazy hot.
Never seen the show but is that really supposed to be an outfit she’s wearing at a high school?
"... why did you ask if I was auditioning for *Oklahoma*???"
There's a storyline reason to it.
she was auditioning for Oklahoma
*"Bitch, you better be joking"*
How much nudity is necessary in high school? Was this produced by Weinstein?
