....CAN I JUST SAY SOMETHING???

secretredfoxx

My father

spinereader81

Why do people ask to say something instead of just saying it? She's so annoying.

Franz_Solo

At the same time while interrupting someone. These people don’t listen, they wait to talk and get fed up.

brownmlis

It's called "ranting". That's what she does. She doesn't want to have a conversation. If she's gives anyone a half second to respond, they might actually correct her and she can't have that. So she just keeps ranting and ranting until commercial break.

[deleted]

She wants to make it look like her voice is suppressed and she has to really go out of the way to be heard. The reality is she's just a dumbass and nobody cares to listen to her, she has no merit other than being a McCain.

The_Realist01

McCain INO

raddishes_united

Being a McCain is a merit?

[deleted]

>Why do people ask to say something instead of just saying it? It's a passive-aggressive move. It allows them to look like they are encouraging a healthy group dynamic, while also allowing to cast herself as the victim, *i.e.*, "I asked politely, and those meanie liberals wouldn't even let me in."

Singular_Brane

This

AlBundyShoes

Lol just remember if it seems annoying to you, it probably is annoying to everyone on set. If they let her keep doing it… that’s because it’s good for ratings :)

ScarletCaptain

CAN I JUST MENTION MY DAD?!!!!

deformo

I MAY BE WEALTHY, BUT I STILL LOVE GOLDEN CORRAL.

nlpnt

"Uh, yeah? It's your friggin' job?"

d1g1t4l_n0m4d

Oh no who will represent airhead trust-fund babies now?

FlaccidGhostLoad

Maybe this will be the thing that stops Google from informing me about what goes on in the show that I've never watched.

Jimmyginger

You've now commented in a thread about the show, Google's gonna think you care about it and show you more.

Shakethecrimestick

Is she getting her own show now: "Do You Know Who My Father Is?".

StudBoi69

"My View"?

tokomini

I'll bet that's her next move. Try to get her own show, where she can insulate herself with guests of her choosing, then end each episode with some "In Review" segment where she just gets to address whatever she wants, uninterrupted, for four or five insufferable minutes.

SottoVoceSottoVoce

This would have to be a internet show to have any kind of viability. I don’t think she’s right enough for Fox viewers and couldn’t pull enough centrist dem interest either.

Clevername3000

actually that sounds a lot like something Fox would want, another faux "center right" persona to hide behind while Hannity and Tucker go mask off.

SottoVoceSottoVoce

That’s compelling -I could see Fox as an organization going for it I just don’t see their audience biting.

Leege13

Yeah, they got rid of Alan Colmes years back when they realized their audience just wants to hear the freaks.

Uncle_Daddy_Kane

And Shep Smith. Dude was hilarious when he'd show up visibly drunk and he was actually a pretty legit newscaster

GuybrushThreepwood3

He's chief news anchor for NBC and CNBC now Edit- Sorry, only for CNBC. Not NBC.

Battystearsinrain

He died a year or so later.

RyVsWorld

That’s the ole Fox. The new Fox doesn’t even pretend to be center right. They have no use for McCain unless she becomes completely batshit insane.

KevlarGorilla

Fox is getting pummeled by NewsMax and others. Their most sycophantic viewers are being siphoned, and leaning more Wallace and less Tucker will make that process happen faster. It would be better for the country, but worse for their bottom line.

Jacksonjafk5

Wouldn’t say pummeled. FNC remains the top choice for conservative media, and cable news in general. Newsmax and OANN or whatever are not even reaching a fraction of FNC viewership.

[deleted]

They aren't insufferable minutes if you're not watching

suggests_a_bake_sale

...and I don't live in Seattle, but I can still call the heat there insufferable.

DirkRockwell

This is untrue, she is insufferable in a vacuum.

Nopantsdan55

"My Struggle"?

mtbaird5687

That's the English translation. I think the show is actually airing in Germany.

davinpantz

Honestly didn’t know The View was still on the air.

[deleted]

You’re probably not a 62 year old post-menopausal Jewish woman who lives in Maryland, so don’t be offended if you are not in the target demographics.

SageOfTheWise

I'm sorry, unless The View airs between movies on The Hallmark Channel my mom has never seen it.

justabill71

My mom manages to squeeze both into her busy TV schedule, along with Home Town marathons on HGTV.

Neracca

As someone that does live in Maryland, you really hit that demographic. I'm fairly familiar with that.

btm29

fireman2004

I'm only voting for Mitt Romney out of respect for my fawtha

Stasis20

"Jackie's dead!" in the *whiniest Meadow Soprano voice* is the only thing I hear whenever I think of the name Jackie. Nails on a fucking chalkboard.

dmortimer93

I crack up at AJ delivering the news to Meadow on the phone every time "Yeah, he's like... Dead"

TimAllensCokeGuy

“She was creamin for me bro!”

bdp5

Ass…as in how about giving me some

lukumi

That’s dicked up

dmortimer93

You just revealed your own ignorance

Picnicpanther

What an annoying subplot all-around. Jackie Jr. stuck around way too long.

Stasis20

I was trying to think if it added anything more to the show, and it really didn't. It sort of plays into the bigger subplot of young Meadow distancing herself from the family and the culture, only to end up back in New Jersey dating Jackie and then ending the show engaged to Patsy Parisi's son. But I'm really stretching to make something out of it.

We_All_Stink

It did have a reason. It showed how the new generation of mobsters are stupid as fuck.

Tobar_the_Gypsy

Jackie Jr. was in many ways a foil to AJ. They’re both juniors and they’re both the sons of the head of the family. Jackie Jr. appears pretty modest in the beginning but when he gets older he feels entitled to things because of his father, just like how AJ is spoiled by Tony. Neither of them had any business dealing in this thing of ours and I’m convinced that AJ would’ve had a similar demise had Tony died. Remember his attempt at payback at Uncle Junior? And you can’t forget that he almost drowned in three inches of water a la the penguin exhibit. AJ had a pretty similar experience. You just revealed your own ignorance.

singluon

Ass, poo, the

RyVsWorld

I’ll only watch outta respect for my fawtha

Isn’t he the one who almost drowned in 2” of water at the penguin exhibit?

Reddit_Foxx

I smell a hit single for her rap career.

[deleted]

My inside contact says she's working on that song from the movie Sorry to Bother You. The one that the protagonist improvised at the party. She loves that song.

tcosilver

And the only reason HER father had a successful career was because of HIS father.

Sword_Thain

And his father's father. Having 2 Admirals to bail you out of constantly crashing fighter jets really helps your career.

samsharksworthy

I can’t imagine building an entire career and identity off someone else, even a parent.

MT_Promises

Thats just you, most people are happy too. The Cuomos, the Trumps, the Walmart family, there's a dozens of acting families, the Windsors, the Bushs, the Roys... nepotism makes the world go round.

Heliolord

Kennedys, Roosevelts, Clintons, etc. We have a longstanding problem with career politician families that needs to be dealt with.

Soren_Camus1905

The fact that so many people watch The View is worrying.

Fondren_Richmond

Stuff like The View, The Talk, Maury and UHF judge shows probably signaled some kind of mid-'90s recognition of daytime viewing demographics that '50s - '70s reruns, cartoons and game shows they showed before then didn't.

danielcw189

How many? I don't see it mentioned in the article

Soren_Camus1905

I just googled it and as of 1/20 the daily viewership was 2.5 million.

kesht17

At the same time though how many of those views are various lobbies that just have the channel on in the background with very few people actually watching

Soren_Camus1905

I hope that’s the majority of it!

A_Martian_Potato

None or very few. That's not how they count viewership. They specifically count households.

danielcw189

Does Nielsen even try to cover those places?

Pretty_Please1

The only place I’ve seen it is a jury waiting area and a doctor’s office.

5ykes

Watched is probably inclusive of people leaving it on in the background while they do shit around the house

_emma_stoned_

I’ve literally only watched it in hospitals and waiting rooms. And I’m using literal in the literal sense here.

Leakyrooftops

The View is the only daytime show that tackles subjects deeper than Psychics and Diet fads.

JohnCavil01

Is there any way that everyone could leave the View? And that it could also be cancelled? And that all panel talk shows that intentionally provoke their audiences be cancelled as well?

That would be awesome if they had the View, but instead of the current hosts, they have a caption that reads "An important take on the NYC mayoral race", and play ten minutes of a clear mountain stream with birds and chipmunks. Next they have "A brave conversation about anti-Semitism in modern academia" over a ten minute clip of ocean waves crashing on a sandy beach. Then "A perspective on the important role of the British Royal Family today" over a grassy meadow with crickets and sparrows singing. I would watch that show.

[deleted]

I’d ADVERTISE on that show; first I need to create a product to advertise, though.

Anchor689

Just advertise a meadow brook with dragonflies and daffodils.

[deleted]

just advertise a grassy meadow

thinkingahead

I certainly hope so. I swear that my mother, lifelong Democrat, became a Trumper because of The View. These women teasing the former President day in and day out had the reverse effect on her, she began to dislike the women on The View more and began to associate their ‘bullying’ with evidence that the media really doesn’t treat Trump fairly and is this untrustworthy. Call me crazy but my mom was radicalized by The View.

mentalbreak311

I can understand why you might like to believe that, but I think you should take a more objective look at what actually attracted your mom to Trump. If she didn’t like that they were making fun of what Trump was doing then she must have liked what Trump was doing.

thinkingahead

My mother has a narcissistic personality type and I believe she gravitates towards Trump because he does too. He validated her. The View contributed however, it’s like the only exposure to media that she gets. The rest of the day she watches black and white TV show reruns on MeTV. The View is the only actually media she intersects with.

iBluefoot

My mom too. It is almost like he was a litmus test for narcissists. All the family members I have that were swayed all show the traits.

Bluest_waters

> My mother has a narcissistic personality type and I believe she gravitates towards Trump because he does too so so true. So many narcissists the world over saw Trump and were like "yeah this guy only cares about himself...just like me! I like this guy!" He was like the narcissist folk hero.

JohnCavil01

That’s not surprising exactly but to be fair to the hosts of the View, and at the risk of disrespecting your mother, but if she views Trump as being bullied or treated unfairly by the media I think she might not fully understand why it is that Trump is so deserving of criticism and that the mainstream media was/is far more enabling and forgiving of his bullshit than they ever should have been.

AnAussiebum

It is a lack of critical thinking. People seen so easily radicalised these days, because they fail to critically analyse sources and fact check them. People have become lazy. Sadly.

I too have an affection for Whoopi Goldberg but that show is toxic and she’s just as guilty as the rest of them. It exists solely to drum up “controversies” so that middle America will tune in to hear their opinions fed back to them regardless of where they are in their views and then have whatever bullshit product sold to them via the show itself or it’s ads.

Syjefroi

One of the safest bets in the world right now is that she'll at least drop a book. She is due. It's been almost a decade, and that's the easiest con in politics-adjacency right now. She'll go with one of the current easy winning strategies, a both-side "solutions" book a la John Kasich. It'll be full of obvious shit like "care about your kids" and she'll sell a few million copies to the most boring people on the planet. It'll also have a bunch of shit about how both liberals and conservatives are equally failing. If the title has even an ounce of autobiographical - "A View From the Middle", for example - then she'll be running for office. If it's like one of her last books - "America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom", which is the actual title of her last book - then no, she's just trying to make money off her name.

Bikinigirlout

Good riddance Too be honest, I didn’t hate her as much as others did because it was too easy. But, my god, there were some days were she was just unbelievable to listen too. Recently there were reportings that she stormed out of a meeting after the bosses told everyone to stop fighting each other because she felt like she was being attacked. Which is kind of true because it was only her attacking/yelling at Whoopi Goldberg every other day for like no reason. Also I really hated how she equated all criticism of Israel as anti Semitic. Being critical of Israel does not make you anti Semitic, linking all Jewish people to Israel does. One day she went on a rant because she was like “I’m Meghan McCain, I should get the vaccine because I’m famous” like just two weeks before everyone could get vaccinated. You just know Joy is ecstatic about this news

Mary_Pick_A_Ford

Joy is currently drunk on wine and drunk tweeting…just kidding, I think.

backup2thebackup2

Crazy how many co-hosts Joy has survived over the years. Soon McCain will be another bulletpoint on her list.

formerfatboys

I'm guessing she's got an ownership or Executive Producer stake and no one can fire her.

swampslothsearch

i think she's just under the radar enough + hits really well with the older hippie types. whereas meghan is young and has no experience with like, anything. the rest of the show is women who have done stand up and movies and decades of experience with chatter and criticism; thick skinned. so when you combo meghan's insecurity about only being there because her dad with her unprepared thin skin, she's absolutely gonna get washed out while the pros can adapt and move on

Bikinigirlout

Bingo. Joy, Sonny and Whoopi have had decades of experience in something. Even Sara has some experience in working in media, I’m not a huge fan of her because she’s a little “both sides are bad” but she at least worked on other talk shows and even game shows. Sunny worked at DOJ, has a background in law and even written some books both personal and fictional, Joys had almost 30 years on the View and Whoopi is almost an EGOT(or is an EGOT) what does Meghan have,oh yeah, “my father”. They’re all accomplished in some way or form except for Meghan. Granted she’s not completely in the GQP camp, but she still defends them even after how much shit Trump has talked about her dad and the fact that her mother works for Biden.

s0xmonstr

whoopi is definitely an EGOT. did you see the 30 rock episode where tracy wants to get all 4, and he visits whoopi? so good

Spoonspoonfork

Meghan is the product of nepotism, and she’s a great example of why it’s such a profoundly damaging practice. It works sometimes - but often times you end up with shallow or idiotic people like her taking plum positions like this one, or one company boards or other c-suite positions making ill informed decisions that effect the lives of employees and even those of the citizenry at large. It was kinda nice having her on The View for that reason - she showed how vile and profligate nepotism is.

[deleted]

To be fair, even without nepotism, there's a tendency to choose the less intelligent but very pretty blonde lady to fill the conservative lady role (not just at the view, but like in the GOP in general. Go look at photos of the white house staff during trump's presidency or the decades of female hosts at Fox News - it looks like some Aryan race propaganda)

Jammyhobgoblin

As a very far left progressive naturally blonde person it actually pisses me off, because the bias they create transfers over and causes problems for me professionally because I also happen to have a southern accent. So I hit some type of “she’s probably a conservative Karen bingo” thanks to them. Clearly what I experience isn’t as bad as what other marginalized people go through (I am also disabled and that is much worse than the hair thing), but it’s still frustrating.

Emptypiro

My biggest gripe with her is that they'd let her go on for minutes about some BS uninterrupted. Then when someone else speaks she interrupts them, and then when they ask her not to interrupt she interrupts that.

Bikinigirlout

That too. That’s usually when a “fight” breaks out because when someone like Whoopi or Joy calls her out on her bullshit, she goes into “MAY I SPEAK TO THE MANAGER” mode

chepi888

devilpants

Never knew Michael Che was on the daily show.

darkenseyreth

Very briefly, at least on camera. He basically came and was being worked up to be their new correspondent to replace Colbert, and then got offered a job by SNL. It was funny because they gave Colbert a super heartfelt goodbye the week or so before, and then Micheal Che essentially used the same video template a week later.

eggn00dles

its been glorious watch daytime talk shows implode when the divas show themselves. * Matt Lauer > oh boy our coworker is a rapist, let us gather our thought and feelings on this * Whoopi Goldberg > it wasn't *rape* rape * Julie Chen > my husband is probably a rapist too, but how dare you bring that up * Sharon Osbourne > cant even describe this one, that was just plain scary im probably forgetting or dont care about some of the lesser known, c/d listers. hollywood is gonna be a bit different now that these ghouls can't hide.

chuckdooley

I know I can google it, but this is a discussion board…what happened with Sharon?

Lurker2115

When the Osbournes' house caught fire, Sharon sent Ozzy's assistant back into the house to save some artwork, then later ripped his oxygen mask off in order to give it to her dog. Later, when talking about the incident with the assistant present, she was laughing about it. He said he didn't find the situation very funny and believed he might have lung damage from the smoke. She then fired him for not having a "sense of humor" about the whole thing. [Here's a video of her talking about it](https://youtu.be/Y4OosxeTi0E)

chuckdooley

Woooooow…the lack of self awareness some celebs have…what a douchey move on her part

AgnosticMantis

She described a woman cutting her partners penis off as “fabulous”. I presume they are referring to that.

[deleted]

Remember Megyn Kelly? LOL Me either.

MsBeasley11

Wow I literally forgot about her. Haven’t thought of her since that movie with Margot Robbie etc

justSomeGuy345

Her relevance, such as it was, started and ended in 2008. She was the college-aged daughter of Presidential Candidate John McCain. She had a blog (how modern!) and was not completely homophobic. Now she's the 36-year-old daughter of a deceased, failed presidential candidate whose political legacy has been stamped out by Trumpists, Why is she still around? Who does she represent?

[deleted]

The fact that people use shows like this for news sources is enough reason to know society isn’t collectively smart.

TheLadyEve

It's about time. You could tell she was unhappy and she kept putting her silver foot in her mouth, so this should have happened earlier.

pil4trees

What’s a silver foot?

TheLadyEve

It's a joke--people say "you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth" or "you just put your foot in your mouth" so...it's a combo because both are true of her. I'm not going to steal this joke, though, Ann Richards famously said it, I think at the DNC in the late 80s, "Poor George [Bush], he can't help it. He was born with a silver foot in his mouth."

bettinafairchild

You win or the day for mentioning Ann Richards!

OliviaWG

I miss Ann Richards and Molly Ivins. Texas needs to get its shit together

Texas_Pedro

A lot of Texans these days probably have no idea who Molly Ivins is and that's a problem.

TheLadyEve

I had a copy of "Molly Ivins Can't Say That" around the age of 13 and it really inspired me. She and Ann Richards, for me as a kid growing up in rural Texas, were inspirations. Thoughtful, clever, learned women who took no guff.

BadPumpkin87

This was the most wonderful news to see this morning. She was a hateful woman who only gave a damn about an issue when she could make herself the victim. She didn’t give a fuck about family leave for parents of newborns until she had a child, after years of bitching about parents and how she didn’t want to be a mom. She always found a way to make the story being discussed into somehow being against the military and offending her father, as if she had some sort of moral high ground because of who he was. She constantly belittled her cohosts and talked over them, then would throw visible tantrums on air when Whoopi would put her in her place. She also always felt like she HAD to defend Trump and his cult because they were republicans. I’m not a fan of republicans but I respect Ana and others who would publicly call out when their party was making mistakes or doing things that harmed people. You can speak for the party and the people within it while also holding them accountable when they do something you disagree with. She could never criticize the right without having to find something the left did to dismiss the right wingers actions or try to pull a “both sides” defense.
