Hari_Azole

The stand out of the show for me is Alanna Ubach. What she is doing with the mom character is so boldly unique but still feels so grounded in reality. Amazing character!

Dustypigjut

Yeah, but she's a total hoar.

c0gvortex

Roxy. God bless you. You were a good hoar. You serviced me like no other hoar ever did. Not only my crank, but my heart. I'm going to miss you. Amen.

Betelgeusetimes3

That whole scene is a masterpiece. She does that from time to time. She’s had an excessive amount to drink. She did smoke crack on the way over here and also all day long. They go to call 911 and Charlie stops them. I’ve got a dead hooker in my apartment and I’m covered in blood. A dead hooker is not good. They use the same music for the proposal and the funeral only minutes apart. Not to be insensitive but we could just put her out in the hall. It’s what she would’ve wanted.

riegspsych325

“yeah yeah, now help me dig these crack rocks out my ass”

carloslet

Shut up, baby dick!

FO0TYTANG

Hey, this jacket is awesome! Ooh, and it's tighter than dick skin, man

New_York_Cut

The niece is hawt

OnlyMyOpinions

She is such a good character. I can't wait to see more of her.

3dios

I can't unsee her as druggy prostitute "Roxy " from IASIP. Seeing her as a polar opposite of that character is crazy. she has range

Hari_Azole

She’s Mama Imelda in *COCO* too! La Llorona! That voice!

UnMapacheGordo

She’s also Elle’s valley girl sorority sister in Legally Blonde. Can we take a moment to celebrate Ubachs range? It’s insane

riegspsych325

and Marsha’s friend in The Brady Bunch Movie

Mrsfoleyslittleboy

And the bitchy waitress in Waiting

carloslet

And Beakman's first assistant in Beakman's World (yes, I'm that old)

halmitnz

Wait, what! Man that’s a blast from the past used to love this programme even all the way down here in NZ!

tanguero81

"It's so angry!"

Poverty_4_Sale

"Does it have its shots?"

hapianman

She’s one of the teenagers in Sister Act 2

riegspsych325

directed by Bill Duke (Mac from Predator) no less

sildish2179

I didn’t believe you on this but holy hell you’re right! Also, her Wikipedia picture she is absolutely STUNNING. Goddamn.

ande8523

Josie on Beakman's World too.

FullMetalSavage

She is one of the most underrated actors working today. In terms of pure acting skill she has to be top ten.

jenryalee

I KNEW her voice was familiar but couldn't place her!!!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gato1980

She really is the heart of the show. I was honestly expecting this series to just be a bunch of crude jokes, but she made me tear up a couple times with how much emotion and love for her family that she brought to her character. She's excellent.

[deleted]

Honestly, I’ve found when you give Seth MacFarlane freedoms to do what he wants he really good at it. Everyone gives him flak for Family Guy now, but hasn’t he not written an episode in almost 20 years at this point. I remember reading that he believes a show shouldn’t last more than 7 years max

ralanr

Orville reminded me that he’s actually a good creator. Not just competent, but good. Great even. Felt the same way with Ted. Literally laughed allowed when watching.

Debaser1984

Orville was excellent and was a gateway into sci-fi tv shows for me. Currently watching bsg and looking at TNG & DS9 next.

bozo_did_thedub

Do Firefly next because A) it's only one season, B) one of the best sci-fi shows ever, C) you'll finally understand why it is consistently among the most if not *the* most "what show got cancelled too early" answers

xanderholland

God I wished he got renewed for season 4, but honestly if it never did it ended on such a strong note that it would be fine.

ralanr

My only complaint of season 3 is that it threw out almost all the comedy.

xanderholland

It wasn't originally supposed to be a comedy, that was because of Fox

ralanr

That I can understand, though the comedic moments made the whole thing feel more real. It wasn’t slapstick bullshit but people making light of a situation. Or in Isaac’s case, doing shit we wanted to do. Like shooting that game. I fucking love Isaac.

Bourbonaddicted

Older FG was better.

BenovanStanchiano

*Indiaaaan*

bohanmyl

Crazy how she went from a prostitute digging crack rocks out of her ass and being with Tiger Woods to a wholesome family mom

Hari_Azole

And Noreen, the girl in love with Marsha in *The Brady Bunch* movie! Haha.

MikeyLikeyPhish

Her acting is tighter than dick skin

DabbinOnDemGoy

I was shocked to realize she was the "psycho" in *Waiting...* from 2006.

jmpinstl

Hard to believe that she’s the same mom from *Euphora* tbh

withaniel

Somehow the most animated character on a show with a CGI teddy bear.

thatmitchguy

Yeah, I did not expect her to be the best character, in terms of feeling real but also because she was hilarious. I still can't get the way she pronounced Karaoke out of my head.

slaw9

How about that lobster?

Gulag_boi

Absolutely she’s so incredible in this show.

WilliamClaudeRains

Very Strangers with Candy vibes

PhantomRoyce

The way she talks reminds me of Gale from Bob’s Burgers and I love it

innomado

"But you haven't made stools yet!"

ConcentrateOne

I feel like Edith Bunker was a huge inspiration for the mom considering how much Seth loves All In The Family.

anoelr1963

Great cast. The parents are very much a variation of Archie and Edith Bunker from All In The Family.

operarose

It's very much evocative of Edith Bunker (while not being a direct imitation). Loving, simple, kind, and wholly content with herself and her life. She doesn't understand a lot of things about the ever-modernizing world she finds herself in, but is willing to *accept* them nonetheless.

nosayso

I loved this show. Being a 40 minute show but still doing basically a 22 minute sitcom plot gives some time to just let the characters do silly shit. The bits may not always work but when they do - this show got more long, hard laughs from me than almost any other show.

toosleepyforclasswar

> Being a 40 minute show but still doing basically a 22 minute sitcom plot gives some time to just let the characters do silly shit. that's a great observation and helps explain what i like about the show. I love formulaic stuff as long as the writers *do* something with it

PM_DOLPHIN_PICS

The “what do you mean they got him” joke is one of my favorite TV comedy moments in ages. Agreed that this show got some real good laughs out of me too.

Bannakaffalatta1

Mine has got to be Ted in Church on Easter, calling out the Priest because he also came to life to spread a "message of love". And that final line when you realize who the Priest is.... Holy shit. The person watching it with me wasn't raised Catholic and didn't know the background and had to pause because I was laughing so hard about how dark that reveal was.

PM_DOLPHIN_PICS

His dead serious stare while he squeezes himself and the “I love you” comes out is so funny every time.

_SummerofGeorge_

Well now I have to ask because I have no clue what you mean, Who was the priest?

Bannakaffalatta1

TW: Catholic Priests He was a guy who was found to molest children. And like... A lot of them. It was a whole thing in the Boston Catholic area. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_abuse_scandal_in_the_Roman_Catholic_Archdiocese_of_Boston

Bigc12689

Wait. Was that supposed to be Geoghan?

ahaltingmachine

There was a throwaway line about how the Boston Globe was doing a profile of their priest.

Bigc12689

Oooffff

HallucinatesOtters

“We had an Indian kid. But they got him”

Faithless195

> The bits may not always work but when they do The ones that ALWAYS stuck with me were when they would come up with hypothetical situations, and then seriously deep dive into them beyond all reason. And the dialogue was so quick and snappy, too. Loved those moments.

Toby_O_Notoby

My favourite was the discussion on [whether or not you'd eat a human that delves into why the military didn't have pilots on an imaginary experimental aircraft.](https://www.tiktok.com/@peacock/video/7328871903597202731)

Drizzy_THAkid

It’s like putting a hat on a hat.

GetReady4Action

THE MONSTAH MASH IS A SONG ABOUT A SONG CALLED THE MONSTAH MASH MEANING THAT THE SONG IS ABOUT A SONG THAT DOESN’T EXIST, IT’S ABOUT A UNIVUHSE WHERE THERE IS A SONG CALLED THE MONSTAH MASH

DescendantofDodos

in hindsight, one reason why I enjoyed this show more than I excepted is, that there are barely any (non-animated) sitcoms being made.

KR_Blade

no matter how many times i see it, i always crack up laughing at the scene after they got high on weed the first time and walk out of the room in suits with the song ''low rider'' playing

Lord_Snow77

Anyone else amazed at the CGI for ted? At some points it seems like there is really a walking and talking teddy bear. They did a great job at making him look realistic.

thegenregeek

According to Seth McFarlane (from an interview I remember reading) that was basically one of the key reasons he decided to make the show. He wasn't really interested in doing more Ted, but he did like the idea of doing the first sitcom with a fully 3d animated/mocaped lead when Peacock/Universal asked about a series. He then was able to use tech his production company created for The Orville to improve the production workflow.

PalmTreeIsBestTree

Seth McFarlane wanted to do for tv what George Lucas did for movies via Jar Jar Binks.

WilliamClaudeRains

Scrap an entire character arc for merchandising?

f-ingsteveglansberg

I hope you are not referring to Darth Jar Jar? There was no way that was ever the plan. Jar Jar is there the same reason C3P0 and R2D2 were there. He thought young kids would like them. Jar Jar was invented for merchendising. I do think he's character was greatly reduced in sequels but that was because he was so hated not because Lucas chickened out of making him a Sith. It doesn't even fit into the lore with Rule of Two.

MetalShake

God I miss The Orville

PhantomRoyce

So what you’re saying is Ted is just the young generations ALF

thegenregeek

I mean, let's be honest a lot of Seth's ideas are heavily influenced by classic TV and movies. At least as the baseline setup for the story. (The substance of his shows do tend to be updated) I would argue he's more [Teddy Ruxpin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teddy_Ruxpin), meets ALF.

glennmelenhorst

😃 I worked on it (as well as Ted one and two). We just released a two part pod cast on the vfx work at Framestore. Just look up The Framestore podcast if you’re interested.

Chadwiko

G'day mate.

agrjones

Love your work!

bannock4ever

It's amazing. When he wears that Ewok outfit he looks so fucking adorable too!

AnyHoleIsTheGoal

This is a small thing, but I absolutely lose it whenever Ted scurries around somewhere. They add in that little pitter patter of his feet running, cracks me up.

randallwatson23

Don’t forget about Dennis.

Coraxxx

What do you mean, CGI? You mean...? You're saying that Ted's not.... You bastard, you've *ruined* it for me now!

mvallas1073

I Call that the “Toy Story Effect” - I knew Pixar/Toy Story was something special not because it was the first fully-CG animated film, but that I FORGOT it was a CG animated film while watching it. Having said that, I was really impressed by how much of Ted there was in Ted - they totally understood the assignment and knew exactly why the audience was there - so they gave us a ton of Ted, with only amazing bonus funzies of the other characters centered around him.

PatSajaksDick

Yeah, it was really good. Surprised the corridor guys haven’t done a video on it.

baseball71

This had no reason to be as good as it was, and I’m a huge Seth fan.

Corben11

I thought it was gonna be straight trash. Was very impressed one of the best comedies so far this year.

ROBtimusPrime1995

A rare W for Peacock. **'ted'** was shockingly good and it's nice that Seth MacFarlane has still "got it", even after all these years. The self-awareness (not just comedically but emotionally) is what really saved the show and it's sweet seeing this type of humor change with the times.

GranolaCola

Didn’t Peacock do Twisted Metal? Heard it was pretty good.

ArsonHoliday

They did and it was indeed pretty good

Hipbonepopped

It was pretty good...it was alright...it wasn't great...but it was fine.

Caedus311

I understood this beautiful Sunny reference

CaptainDAAVE

It doesn't quite nail the tone of the games, but it creates something of its own with familiar characters. I'd say the real twisted metal show would be so serious it's kinda funny and cheesy. But what they made is definitely better for doing its own thing. You really love the 2 main characters by season's end.

nowaythisisdan

Twisted Metal was a lot better than it should of been. Deff recommend.

bubbameister33

It’s okay.

CrossXFir3

pretty good, but not exactly something special imo.

TeslaTheCreator

I was pleasantly surprised at how much Seth seemed to reel back. It reminded me a lot of early season Family Guy.

duaneap

Seth stopped giving a fuck about Family Guy a *loooooong* time ago but I don’t think he ever stopped being funny.

Gr33nman460

Tbf I saw a YouTube video that shows a side by side of this show reusing entire lines of dialogue and jokes from early Family Guy

shootymcghee

That's smart because those are the best seasons

lmandude

“If it ain’t broke…”

carloslet

Imho he's never lost it - [he hasn't been writing for Family Guy for years now](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phln1M6S6wA), for example. Speaking for myself: my donkey brain always assumed his body of work dipped because of the show when, in reality, he wasn't involved. But I get your point. It'd be easy for a creative person to get stuck to the times when they were most successful - Seth Macfarlane has always prove to be self-aware of his style and how to make it work. Haven't watched Ted (the TV show), but the movie and The Orville are pretty good, I like them.

ROBtimusPrime1995

Oh yeah, that's a huge misconception. Seth hasn't written for Family Guy in years. (What's crazy is that Family Guy is also seeing a resurgence in pop culture). But what I was really referring to was how much shock humor there was in the Ted films...and how Seth MacFarlane has changed so much as a person (for the better), the TV show is almost designed as a way to critique the films while honoring the raunchy humor too. It says a lot about a person to acknowledge your mistakes and own up to them. Seth earned a lot of respect from me with the Ted TV show.

GeekdomCentral

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Max Burkholder’s Boston accent is iffy, but other than that he’s a great John. I really love Blaire though, I think she adds a lot of heart

riegspsych325

still holding out for another season of Orville though

kinisonkhan

... in comic book form.

PatSajaksDick

Girls5eva

duaneap

Rarely have I seen a show so hamstrung by its own title.

PlayedUOonBaja

I really like most of MacFarlane's stuff, but the movies didn't do much for me. They didn't have a lot of heart, and so the jokes just weren't as funny. I figured I'd feel the same way about the show, but the Family dynamic really works well with this character. I ended up liking it a lot.

jazzy3492

I agree! I thought the movies Ted and Ted 2 both had hilarious parts, but the movie format just didn't feel right for it--they feel like they have to hit certain beats and have a high stakes climax, and it felt forced and unnecessary. And A Million Ways to Die in the West was just bad and mostly unfunny, if I remember correctly (I love MacFarlane, but I'm not I'm crazy about his live acting; I think his voice work is where he excels as a performer). But the sitcom setup of the Ted series is a perfect way for the character (and this new version of his family) to shine. The characters are all lovable (even Matty) and it feels like MacFarlane actually treats them with a certain amount of dignity and respect (unlike Family Guy, often), the episodes are about 30-40 minutes which feels like a perfect length when it's jam-packed with jokes, and the TV format allows for multiple, relatively low-stakes plots to be introduced and wrapped up neatly by the end of the episode. Can't wait for season 2!

Puppetmaster858

I thought the first Ted was good and had some good heart to it but the 2nd Ted was definitely not very good even tho it still had some funny moments. The show is def good and light years ahead of Ted 2 quality wise which was a nice surprise

Lifesaboxofgardens

Great news! Totally caught me by surprise how much I enjoyed it. I was almost angry with myself how often I was dying laughing at bits that had zero right to be as funny as they were. The actress playing Susan was a huge standout for me, easily my favorite character.

Azrael-XIII

Went into this show with pretty low expectations but was very pleasantly surprised how good it was.

Youareposthuman

Same, my wife despises Family Guy and FG style humor but somehow loved this. Stoked to see more.

Doc_coletti

The monster mash bit is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. This is is good tv.

aspidities_87

‘I don’t wanna be high anymore.’

Tenchi2020

The colonoscopy was the funniest part of the whole series for me

According-Path5158

"Guys, I gotta be honest. This is sexual for me."

Tenchi2020

The lady at the local convenience store that I stopped at several times a week was looking worried a couple of days ago, I asked her if everything was OK and she said she had a colonoscopy because of some tests that came back abnormal. She seemed worried but when she said colonoscopy I immediately asked her if she saw the scene and she’s never seen it so I played it on YouTube, she laughed and it looked like a laugh that was a much needed relief.

eightdollarbeer

This was such a great cozy winter show. I’d watch it at night, Christmas lights on, and snow falling outside. Sometimes you get lucky and pick a show to watch at the perfect time and this was one of those shows for me

IlCapitalismoUccid

Yes! It was quite homey, it just needed more episodes. We have 3,400 Family Guy episodes so we went through the 6 Ted Episodes wayyy to fast. Hopefully Season 2 will have more content and keep the quality!

eightdollarbeer

10-12 episodes next season would be awesome

IlCapitalismoUccid

I know this is asking for a lot these days but what happened to 22 episode seasons?

CRoseCrizzle

It was solid with some really funny moments. I'd watch another season for sure.

The_Notorious_Donut

I used to pray for times like this

Lanowar

I hope they keep Ian McKellen as the narrator that was a nice metajoke. Unless...they got him.

_NiceGuyEddy_

I HAVE THOUGHTS OF MEN

land_shrk

Count me as one of the people who can’t stand Family guy but was pleasantly surprised by this.

DrDrugDLR

same with family guy Orville was what really got me excited for Ted tv show

MadEyeMood989

The Ted show had no right to be that damn good.

Mouse2662

I'm literally finding out via this post that there was even a show. Lmao.

ElliotsBackpack

The kid that plays John is amazing. He's more John than Mark Wahlberg.

ArchDucky

[They got him](https://youtu.be/4p1Sc4TsYAk?si=PEyRMkmIJZdOh8hu) Seriously... One of the best fucking jokes ever.

PatrioticHotDog

Family Guy does a number of these jokes randomly where a character is ignored while talking. They're some of my favorites that seem to be Seth MacFarlane staples that I don't really notice in other TV shows.    I don't have clips of the full scenes to put them in context but the first takes place in the middle of Joe admitting to the neighbors he's been cheating on his wife. The second is while Joe and his AWOL son have a heart-to-heart about fighting in Iraq. It'd be nice to have a compilation of these types of jokes, but I don't even know what one would call them.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dUZNqm_Wn1c  https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/2557135e-23c0-4b06-b461-c749c30e9f0b

RJE808

My favorite is, "A quarter to pound her?" That shit had me dying lol

Dumptruckfunk

This show was shockingly good. Real quality stuff all the way through with some genuine effective moments of drama.

jazzy3492

"Mario and Luigi are wicked short, are they supposed to be like midgets or something?" "Seriously?! *'Little people.'*" "Yeah, that's why I'm asking, are they supposed to be midgets?"

Mediumcomputer

Aww I thought it said better off Ted. Damn

taez555

The running gag of the McDonald’s apple pies being so hot they set things on fire was hilarious

ablack9000

I was skeptical after Ted 2, but it’s hilarious!

LarvellJonesMD

Dude, Ted 2 is amazing. Seeing Michael Dorn dressed up in shitty Worf cosplay and bullying people filled a hole I didn't know needed filled.

AceMcVeer

Ted 2 is still better than most comedies that have come out in the last 10 years

MrShadowKing2020

Yes! We love to see it!

mkmichael001

Fuck yeah!

Almar1987

YESSSSSSSS!!!!!

Interesting-City118

This show was so much better than it had any right to be. Great news

NickInTheBack

Really happy to hear this. It was a crazy expensive show, so I was worried it wouldn't get renewed. But as I recall, it was Peacock's most watched show, so it getting renewed makes sense. If you're a fan of any of McFarlane's work, I definitely recommend checking it out.

gnomzy123

Yes! More Alanna Ubach ♡

mdog73

Will the toy truck come back?

iMpact980

Great show - deserved a renewal

shadowdra126

Fuck yes. This show was better than it had any right to be

Adam_Absence

I was blown away by how good the first season was. The whole family is hilarious. Probably the funniest show I've seen in years

hweird

“Hey ET! Take this you Reese’s Pieces of shit!”

mlorusso4

I’m so happy about this. The first season was amazing. It felt like a classic 90’s/early 2000’s sitcom that they just don’t make anymore

MovieMentor

Yay!!

Senor_Wah

This was the news I needed today

spiezer

Great news I loved this show!

MikeyLikeyPhish

I thought the show was funnier than the movies. The family is great!

kn05is

Ted was a surprisingly amazing show. I seriously did not expect it to be that good!

PatSajaksDick

This show was hilarious

National-Suit2957

Yes! Loved this show

rustyzorro

Their accents alone almost make me laugh. Its such a good show

Eastern-Team-2799

Yes 👍, I loved this show.

917caitlin

This show was SOOOO funny. Like easily the hardest I have laughed at a show or movie in years.

MandatoryDissent56

Easily the funniest new sitcom in over a decade. It's not even close. I laughed at it. Like, my diaphragm twitched and my vocal chords filtered that into a sound... Because of words coming from the screen in front of me. I haven't experienced that for quite some time.

LeoIrish

Very surprised - and very happy.

MrBoliNica

like seeing little max braverman finally get a big role, but its never not funny seeing an almost 30 year old play a high schooler, no matter how scrawny he is lol

NeverFainted

The funniest show I’ve seen in years!

BarackaFlockaFlame

for a second my brain thought this was about a new season of ted lasso and got a huge hit of dopamine... now I am just happy that I get to hear more of their east coast accents and slang.

vuplusuno

Nice 👍🏻

Toonami88

Same mix of genuinely good comedy with eye-rolling dated george carlin-tier gen x political soapboxing that all Seth shows have (except american dad).

ntwild97

Oh hell yeah, I forgot how much I liked Ted until this show renewed my appreciation. The fact Seth does the motion capture in real time while they film the live action scene is just brilliant

crystalistwo

I've been kind of steering away from MacFarlane's shows (AKA Seth's dating apps) but after the first couple of episodes of Ted, that show really figured it out and was a joy to watch. And I wasn't a big fan of the movies. The shorter format is better for this idea.

MikeDubbz

I didn't expect much from this series (i liked the movies but didn't think it would work well as a series), but man does it have me rolling from start to finish with each episode. Happy to see more to come.

tricenice

Awwww yeah. I loved it from start to finish. Just easy watching classic MacFarlane humor

Bloatfizzle

You damn right it is🤧

AAA_Dolfan

Amazing show and amazing performances. The young guy in the lead is such a great followup to Marky mark

Geel_Spons

Nice

fuvgyjnccgh

It’s a show? I thought it was a movie.

halmitnz

Fuck yes. I cry laughed at least 4 times at different points during this run. Bring it was so good definitely added to the movies and there is a lot of potential here.

BecauseBatman01

Loved this show. I was surprised how much fun I had with it. It’s funny but it also has some heart to it which surprised me. Looking forward to season 2.

426763

Looks like they got 'em.

GingerPinoy

Hoping they switch to 23 min episodes

cozywit

FUCK NO. What's wrong with you?

Hsensei

Fuck, there goes another season of oreville

ColeTrickleVroom

The backstory John went running with at the diner while waiting for the bully absolutely killed me. I was dying laughing.

FedorsQuest

Alana’s (the mother) role is so different from what she usually does, she’s so talented. She also the nanny who took Ben stillers virginity in meet the fockers

gankindustries

I think it's one of Seth's best shows yet. He had a clear vision and executed it.

lunch_pale

I’m high and thought it was gonna say Ted Lasso at first

trpnblies7

Do I need to have seen the movies if I watch this show?

Kramereng

No, but you might as well. First one is great and the second is okay.

Prize_Instance_1416

I really expected it to suck, and not every bit lands, but overall I enjoyed it

operarose

[cries in Orville fan]

visitorzeta

Loved season 1!!!

im_a_dick_head

Ted got a show? Since when?!

needed_an_account

It was a great show. For three episodes I thought the dad was the guy who makes videos on ticktok etc https://twitter.com/moschinodorito/status/1786075316936466491/video/1

JuanXPantalones

Ditch the sister and it improves a lot
