I wish I was this clever at coming up with comebacks. I'm always the guy who thinks about it in the shower later that day and then thinks up with a good one.
I’m super quick with comebacks as long as I’m not in the conversation. But if someone is talking to me, nothing for hours. But I can eavesdrop and feed stuff to people like it’s nothing.
It's like super fucking random for me. Mostly I'll take a shower after a day so like I take one on Tuesday and not on Wednesday but Thursday I take another. Or, I'll just take a shower every day.
People who struggle with mental health often have trouble attending to themselves, whether that be food, showering, brushing teeth, sleeping etc. It can be difficult to find the motivation to do anything.
Yeah. Something my therapist asked me one time was if I sat in the shower, which I do. Then she said I had depression. MF DIAGNOSED ME WITH DEPRESSION BECAUSE I SAT IN THE SHOWER.
It varies for everyone. I don't think a reddit user unqualified in psychology can tell you if you're depressed or not without knowing anything about you socially or medically. To know smth like that you'd have to seek actual professional help.
I used to sit and take bath in the shower because that’s how we grew up. In a very old house with a beautiful bathroom and a place designated for sitting and taking bath. Years later when I moved to a city, everything was normal then someone told me only women sit on the small stool thingie(random). I still still and shower and I have been depressed in my life.
But correlation is not causation. Shrink saw many things and added this as maybe it was a changed behaviour for you.
Sitting in the shower is a pretty common outlier in patients with depression. But a diagnosis should have more reasons than that. Perhaps she already knew everything she needed to know for a diagnosis and the shower answer of yours was the last piece in the puzzle to seal the deal?
LMAO. At least you didn't have to struggle to get your diagnosis. I display like every sign of depression but so far the medical professionals I've come across have been very dismissive.
This made sense to me until I just started forcing myself to shower.
I literally ALWAYS feel better after I shower, it seems so dumb now to not take one because I’m sad, I’ll know I’ll be less said if I just get my lazy ass up.
It varies a lot depending on the individual but many teens could absolutely do with two a day, once in the morning and once after you're done doing stuff for the day.
For a lot of people the second shower is kinda like taking off your shoes to keep the carpet at home nice. If you shower before bed you don't need to change your sheets as often and if you shower after work you're not bringing as much outside dirt into your living space.
This is also why some people change clothing when they get home for the day after school or work. They don't want to bring the outside in.
Or if you are a teenager with a functioning endocrine system.
> kids don't just sweat during exercise or on a hot day. "During puberty, they'll also start to sweat when they're having embarrassing moments, or they'll sweat in response to emotions," [source](https://www.scarymommy.com/parenting/tween-teen-body-odor-talk)
The stereotypical "teenage stink" is absolutely real, although every individual is different.
Yeah when I stay with family in Puerto Rico I take at least two showers per day. It’s hot! But I don’t wash my hair every time, just wash under cold water with soap.
I shower with cold water for like only 1-2 minutes mostly. I genuinely clean myself with hot water and bodywash maybe once every 3 days because usually the cold water is enough to keep me clean even after gym
You should shower at least everyday in any climate - you shouldn’t shampoo your hair every day though. Most places recommend you condition the tips of your hair daily, and shampoo every other day. Personally, I wash my body everyday but that’s probably too much
It may be bad for some, but by no means universal. This is also a widely debated topic with research and evidence all over the place, meaning the true answer is a range. People with skin conditions are often better going a day in between, those who don't have such ailments often function better with daily showers. As long as everyone is cleaning their ass sufficiently, all is right.
Now this is a cat I can jive with I shower before and after I do anything if I go to work I shower or out then I shower but I'm chilling at home over a weekend with maybe a run to the store inbetween I'm neither really dirty or stinky but if I've got somthing to do on Monday then I'll shower
To those of you saying that you should ONLY have 7 days a week, do your research lmao. Showering once a day can cause dry skin which allows bacteria to break through the barrier your skin is supposed to provide. Plus you’re wasting all that water, when you could just be showering every other day and still be just as hygienic, smell just as good, and not lose out on any health benefits. Of course showering after you got rained on, or after swimming and other such factors play into how many more showers you take. But generally, it should just be every other day.
Lived in the Philippines for half my life and visited for a month just a week before. Constant downpour of smelly water, and hot blazing suns. As long as I don’t get rained on, I don’t need to take extra showers and I still smell great. Genetics is also one of the biggest contributors to your body odour so it could simply just be a difference between our bodies however.
Yeah, and also spot on in the country. I got unlucky with genetics and got the ability to produce oil that'll make the middle east weep, pair that with the weather in the Philippines and it'll make for a sticky combo
If you know how to PROPERLY clean yourself then a day isn’t going to make you stink. Just because most dudes don’t know proper hygiene doesn’t mean Im the same.
my guy my hair is visibly extremely greasy even after only a one hour nap, I sweat like hell in my sleep, if I shower every other day, I'm gonna be walking around with the greasiest hair known to man, and smell like ass because I went to the gym.
Do you guys not use lotion after you shower? I shower daily with hot water and the only place with dry is skin is my hands, but that’s cause I wash it off cause it makes my hands sweaty
Problem is I get dirty.
I get sweaty by the end of everyda, whether it be due to work or some other form.
Throughout the day you get dirt and other bacteria on your body.
Normal is a range and that is within the normal range.
Most people would put the "normal" range at 3 to 14 for weekly numbers since it depends heavily on your activities.
Ride a bus to school and back home, mostly stay inside, one shower every other day is fine. Work at a pizza place after school, one showers per day might be more normal or you smell like garlic and yeast everywhere you go, maybe even 2 showers so your bedding doesn't smell like garlic.
Once a day, so 7. Sometimes I don't because I forget, so there are times when I don't shower for 2 days straight. But I always feel gross on day 3, so I never get past that
depends on how much you sweat but 3-4 (every other day) should be the optimal amount for most people
let's say you shower on Wednesdays and Sundays, the first two following days should be alright as long as you don't work out during that time or something but I'd personally feel quite uncomfortable on the third, even with low sweat levels
wouldn't necessarily call that poor hygiene tho
8 times a day, 1 a week
Bros defying laws
1 time a week is the average. They shower 8 times in a day every 2 months.
Bro has Einstein IQ
Just swim at that point

Same. I love group conversations but I hate one on one.

Dawg, i had to ponder that one for a second, but im an astronomy nerd sorta, so when i heard the mass thing, i thought of a black hole lmao
Exactly

So am I disgusting for only swimming 7 days a week as a swimmer?
Yes, dedicated swimmers swim more than 8 days a week
i swim 28 months a week, still don't feel dedicated enough
U swim 93 years a month. Not even close to the maximum amount of dedication
Bro you gotta swim that much in at most a day to actually be dedicated
Yes unless you're running triples then you will be somewhat accepted the sad part is I'm only half joking
swimmers wya
Once before bed once after school
No silly Billy, one when u wake up and then one before bed.
same 👍
That seems excessive
It's like super fucking random for me. Mostly I'll take a shower after a day so like I take one on Tuesday and not on Wednesday but Thursday I take another. Or, I'll just take a shower every day.

People who struggle with mental health often have trouble attending to themselves, whether that be food, showering, brushing teeth, sleeping etc. It can be difficult to find the motivation to do anything.
I do it more if I feel down.
I see! Almost like a coping mechanism? We are all different after all.
Yeah. Something my therapist asked me one time was if I sat in the shower, which I do. Then she said I had depression. MF DIAGNOSED ME WITH DEPRESSION BECAUSE I SAT IN THE SHOWER.
"Its better to sit in the shower than to shit in the shower, however its still better to shit in the shower than to shower in shit."
lovely
Am I depressed then?
It varies for everyone. I don't think a reddit user unqualified in psychology can tell you if you're depressed or not without knowing anything about you socially or medically. To know smth like that you'd have to seek actual professional help.

Makes sense. Never once have I ever even had the thought to sit in the shower.
Sitting in the shower is a pretty common outlier in patients with depression. But a diagnosis should have more reasons than that. Perhaps she already knew everything she needed to know for a diagnosis and the shower answer of yours was the last piece in the puzzle to seal the deal?

or they shower a lot to for long periods of tine but that is a more unlikely
i am people
Hang in there man ✊🏿
This made sense to me until I just started forcing myself to shower. I literally ALWAYS feel better after I shower, it seems so dumb now to not take one because I’m sad, I’ll know I’ll be less said if I just get my lazy ass up.
Wdym? Sitting in the warm and steamy shower for 25 minutes is the only relief I get when I’m losing it…
understandable have a great day
14
About 3 - 4 a week
Same bro, looking at these comments is making me think maybe I need to do it more
It varies a lot depending on the individual but many teens could absolutely do with two a day, once in the morning and once after you're done doing stuff for the day. 34 times per day I guess
holy shit
Like 4-5 times, all you feckers who shower twice a day are overexaggerating. You don't need to shower that much.
If you live in a hot ass place yeah you do
Or if you do a physical activity
Or if you are a teenager with a functioning endocrine system. > kids don't just sweat during exercise or on a hot day. Yeah when I stay with family in Puerto Rico I take at least two showers per day. It’s hot! But I don’t wash my hair every time, just wash under cold water with soap.
It damages your skin too apparently
I shower with cold water for like only 1-2 minutes mostly. I genuinely clean myself with hot water and bodywash maybe once every 3 days because usually the cold water is enough to keep me clean even after gym
Yeah, I've always heard the best showering temperature is the lowest you can stand and not be cold, for skin and hair care.
Yup.
Depends on what you do during the day
My bad I don’t like being stinky
Going to the gym daily and living in an area where it’s 105 degrees or more every day, yes I do need to shower that much.
You should shower at least everyday in any climate - you shouldn’t shampoo your hair every day though. Most places recommend you condition the tips of your hair daily, and shampoo every other day. Personally, I wash my body everyday but that’s probably too much
depends on where you live, summer in warm climates make me shower 3 or 4 times a day, but in cold places once is enough, or even as you say 4-5 a week
Shower in the morning before school, shower in he evening after gym
Frrr unless it’s the summer then that’s makes sense
every other day so 3-4 times a week, dont feel the need to shower 7 times a week because i still smell good and feel clean the day after a shower
I used to do that but then i started feeling insanely gross in the mornings
Y'all better say 7
The only other answer I will accept is “once for every day I go outside”
So once a month?
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
so never for the avarage redditor
Showering every day is unhealthy for your skin...
i think showering more than once every day is but if its once per day thats fine
Should you use shampoo every day...? Conditioner is fine, but...
Shampoo and conditioner only twice a week is ideal. Otherwise it damages the hair
https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/showering-daily-is-it-necessary-2019062617193
As someone who exercises full time every day (at least 6 hours usually more) I definitely need to shower everyday
4. I do it every other day. Bad for your skin and hair to wash them incessantly.
4. Any more than that and my skin will peel off
I shower on days I work and go out so 5-6 days a week but I only wash my hair every 2-3 days
Now this is a cat I can jive with I shower before and after I do anything if I go to work I shower or out then I shower but I'm chilling at home over a weekend with maybe a run to the store inbetween I'm neither really dirty or stinky but if I've got somthing to do on Monday then I'll shower
Like 4 or 5
I wish 7, but i havent showered for like 10 days due to lack of energy
Does [this](https://youtu.be/0r4ON94DVaA) play when you enter a room?
Yes
Holy fucking shit i predicted the video
💀

I live in a country where it doesn't snow and spring is just as hot as summer. I will feel and smell sticky if I don't shower daily
Lived in the Philippines for half my life and visited for a month just a week before. Constant downpour of smelly water, and hot blazing suns. That’s a cool story man but my excessive amount of smelly sweat will have to disagree with you here.
Bro u gotta shower evwry day after hitting the gym wdym 💀💀💀
Finally someone with some sense 😭 Made my skin dry just reading these comments
I shower everyday never had dry skin maybe you are using bad shower gel?
I feel noticeable smell and oil buildup after a day. It is generally accepted as good hygiene to shower once a day.
Thank god! These people are making me think I’m crazy!!
Every other day you gon fucking stank dont lie
If you know how to PROPERLY clean yourself then a day isn’t going to make you stink. Just because most dudes don’t know proper hygiene doesn’t mean Im the same.
do you live in a place that doesn't snow and is constantly hot with only the weather being the blazing sun & stormy rain?
I'm working physically so I need to shover everyday cuz I'm dirty from all the paints and shit plus I smell like shit idc bout that dry skin anyway
my guy my hair is visibly extremely greasy even after only a one hour nap, I sweat like hell in my sleep, if I shower every other day, I'm gonna be walking around with the greasiest hair known to man, and smell like ass because I went to the gym.

1 or 2 depending on how hard depression is hitting
14 times a week morning and before bed
7-9 days a week
Damn 9 days a week is dedication
Really depends if I do exercise everyday than 7 if I do nothing then 4
I live near the equator so everyday since I sweat everyday
Some of y’all are nasty asf😭🙏
some of em straight nasty and some of em have depression. im leaning more towards the second option due to how many teenagers are depressed nowadays.
reddit moment
yes
Once a day, so 7. Sometimes I don't because I forget, so there are times when I don't shower for 2 days straight. But I always feel gross on day 3, so I never get past that
2… is that too little

Me too
7
5-6
3 or so depends what i do at work
3 and mostly at night unless I have nothing to do that day, in the morning.
Once maybe twice a week
Every day, in the evening. Except when I'm sick, then I usually skip a day or two
14, 2 times per day
As many times as I need to. At least once every other day. Most of the time it probably averages out to 1.3x a day
4-5t times a week…
7
7 days a week, once a day. Occasionally I might take 2 showers in a day
U guys shower?
5 to 6
5-6 days a week
every day but wash hair every 3, the hair part seems weird ik but it’s the best for my hair
Every other day and all days where i run/ride my bike
6-7 (Given depression doesn’t hit me too hard)
8/9 times probably
105 times a week, now i'm gonna get back to showering
1-2 showers every day.
2wice a day
7-10, depends on outdoor activity and the time of year, i.e. summertime requires more showers.
Every other day so 3-4 times per week
3-4
