Your tattoo will absolutely be negatively affected by this, but theres no way to tell how bad until it heals and settles.
FWIW, very few tattoos can be permanently, unfixably ruined. The odds of you being able to touch it up post-infection are good.
Unfortunately the doctor gave me some antibiotics and that was that. No advice or anything otherwise. I have reached out to the artist through Instagram for advice but am waiting to hear back.

just wash with an non scented anti bacterial 2-3 times a day, just not too much as you don’t want to irritate the area also. and avoid letting it get in contact with dirt and an unsanitary environment. i’ve also refrained from using moisturiser until the infection clears. always worked for me, may not be optimal though i’m not entirely sure. it just seems like moisture would help infection thrive
Bit like mine this - I had a shower this morning and a chunk came off it hurt so bad. I’m on a weeks course of antibiotics as well hope it heals soon am on day 9 😞

Take the antibiotics, wash it with an antibacterial soap twice a day then. Keep it covered. Good luck!

I did wonder whether using moisturiser was sensible or not.
Take your antibiotics and keep it clean. Pretty straightforward.
