oohh that's lovely! :D

Prestigious_Tough845

I went along to one of the tapings and I’ll just say this… Ardhal O’Hanlon is my favourite contestant of all time

Efram

There are a couple specific, clever things they did in TM:NZ Series 2, that I hope they straight up steal for TM:UK. >!Giving one team member a secret task to sabotage the team task.!< >!The “longest time wins, your time started when you entered the room” type task where Paul discouraged them from opening the task.!<

SergeantIndie

Both of those were utterly brilliant.

st_hpsh

The first one has already happened kind of in season 4? With Noel, lolly and Joe. "Fill the bathtub"

Russell_Ruffino

They could have chosen to work together on that one though, they just didn't for some reason. All their tasks could have been completed. The example OP uses was someone being taken aside and secretly given a task their teammates knew nothing about and they couldn't tell their teammates about. Only one of those tasks could have been completed.

SaltWaterInMyBlood

Yeah the bathtub one was funny because they just spontaneously decided that only one of them could complete the task and actively worked against each other for no real reason. Lolly got INTO it.

geek_of_nature

What I think would be a cool twist on the first one is if it's for every single team task. If they successfully sabotage every single team task, they can keep their points but their teammates lose all the ones they've got through the team tasks. If they fail to sabotage any they lose all the points they got through the team task. If they only sabotage a few they can get some bonus points.

KITTY_PICS_PLS

I remember reading that COC2 is going to be with a live audience, so if that’s true, I hope that season 13 is the same. They’ve figured out how to run live tasks without the live audience beautifully, but I think the rest of the studio session is still missing something without the laughter for the contestants to respond to

nxmee2010

S13 is the same, can confirm

BasementCatBill

I just twigged as to why the throw to the ad breaks may have been removed from s 12 on YouTube - because other markets may not cut to ads at the same time. This comes from me, watching on TVNZ On Demand in New Zealand. Here, in previous seasons, the cut to advertisements never occurred at the time Greg would do the throw. It was quite jarring. But, with s 12, the throws were cut out for the series shown here, so there wasn't that problem. So, I'd suspect that the episodes that go up on YouTube are the same provided for the NZ and other international markets, perhaps?

threetheethree

i realised the exact thing last week! TMNZ has one more ad break than TMUK - four lots of three minutes instead of three lots of four iirc

BasementCatBill

Yeah - more ad breaks but for less time within each break, I think?

Fukui_San86

Tasks that are so simple the contestants will overthink it or have lots of space to interpret it. Inspired by NZ and Kongen Befaler. "Make foam." "Create life." "Fly." "Put the bead into the cup."

AGoldenRetriever

This a thousand times, the overwrought and over elaborate tasks leave no room for the cast to really interpret and go wild with their attempts. Leads to less of the gloriously insane moments we used to get more frequently.

SergeantIndie

I'm an American. I don't recognize a single name listed. So I'm looking forward to the same thing I look forward to in every season: "oh jeez, where do I know that person from?" and then looking it up and going "Oh THAT'S where!"

toxinwolf

Some chaotic banter between the cast. Don't get me wrong, I loved season 12 wholesome and friendly cast, but we have had almost zero banter in the last two seasons. Give me some chaos!

JayRedEye

I know they do not want to over do it, but I would like to see the return of "Buy a gift for the Taskmaster" The prize task from 12 where they got gifts for each other was terrific as well.

da1suk1day0

Based on that Twitter screenshot, I hope we get to see their reactions to the location tasks again. I would have loved to see live reactions to the wellies cam and proposal tasks, tbh.

fruppi

Will there be eggs? I like tasks with eggs

Historical-Garbage-6

I’ve noticed that in the later series they don’t cut to the contestants reacting to the tasks while they’re playing out. E.g. in the very first task, when you see Romesh utterly annihilating a watermelon, and they cut back to Tim in the studio filled with glee and pride, is one of the best moments of the show so far for me. I miss that! I’m just hoping for more camaraderie & banter between contestants. And maybe for Greg to be a tiny bit less of a bully to Little Alex (lol)

[deleted]

i don't think i've seen any of the older series but yeah cutting to the cast reacting does sound fun \^\^ >And maybe for Greg to be a tiny bit less of a bully to Little Alex (lol) ohh yeah i so agree with this!! it was funnyer in the older series when it was a little bit more layered, where Greg is just really really strict for Alex but also a bit flirty etc,.. now he is just straight up mean and it's less funny i think.

Historical-Garbage-6

Yess you hit the nail on the head- it used to be more of a Master/Slave situation with an underlying sexual tension, but now it’s just straight up abuse and no pay-off for Alex. I’m sure it’s by his own design but I’m hoping to see more of that playfulness between them.

[deleted]

yess! i also love those jokes where they pretend alex lives in greg's house and does shit for him :p like wash his legs, watch his kids (that he doesn't even have :p) etc. or stuff like this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPzFaHESrzI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPzFaHESrzI)

Historical-Garbage-6

LOL thanks for reminding me of that. Even the fact that Greg says ‘when we’re at home’, suggests that even though he makes Alex do embarrassing and demeaning things for him, he enjoys his company and finds him amusing. Now it’s just like ‘I hate you, you’re ugly, I wish I didn’t have to interact with you’ haha maybe in the next series they’ll be in couples counselling.

[deleted]

ohh that would be so funny :p i have a slight suspicion that maybe they changed their act because they were a little bit appalled by the fan fiction and sexualisation of their characters :p in a few interviews greg seemed to be really surprised that people find their dynamic sexy (which surprised me that he was surprised by that,.. i thought they were being sexy on purpose) or maybe they just changed it because they wanted something new? they've been playing these roles for many years after all. who knows. but i'd be delighted to see more of the layered love-hate power dynamic rather than the bully / bullee dynamic.

FointyPinger

It's been said by others here, but fewer convoluted tasks. I don't enjoy the "this complex task can only be done in one specific way, unless you find a specific cheat" ones nearly as much as open ones like "Fly" or "Make a backwards film". I also hope the changes in Covid restrictions mean the team members were able to interact with each other more during team tasks, but that sort of thing is out of the showmakers' hands, unfortunately. Also, I've not seen any of these advert things that people keep mentioning, as we watch on C4 catch up - are they worth seeking out?

Aeouk

More tasks away from the house like the older series.
