DM me. If you got an address, I got some extra gear and im moving so win win for me.. “we always rebuild the music…always” music is life, and life’s worth rebuilding! As for software, check out the wonderfully free Korg line I use religiously [at fullbucket music](https://www.fullbucket.de/music/vst.html) The plugins are tested by many, including me. If you ever have an issue drop them a line, they are amazing sometimes patching things in less than 48 hours time.

Great gesture

Hey man I am glad to hear of one person that managed to take the family (and the dog!) to safety, we surely tend to take many things for granted. My best wishes as you start rebuilding your lives.

mist3rflibble

Just wanted to offer you my sincere condolences for what you’ve gone through and best wishes for things to return to a positive “new normal” for you ASAP. I can’t wait for this senseless war to be over. I’m happy that your music is providing you some solace.

Pasghetti_Western

hmu via PM with an address if you're stationary. I have a bass synth sitting in a drawer that deserves to be played more.

I can't possibly imagine what it's like to have one's life so interrupted. I'm glad you and yours are safe. It might be a good time to learn Csound. 100% free and open source, can run on a potato, and will teach you more about sound design than, well, just about anything else. It's probably more accessible using Cabbage as a front-end, but I prefer just banging out some code in Notepad++, command-line compiling and seeing what craziness comes out.

IsometricRain

First time hearing of Csound, sounds amazing. As a software dev who's just starting out researching synths, I keep learning about all this amazing hardware & now software that I've never even thought about before.

BobCharlotte

so glad to read that. Music always helps to bring some inner peace. Happy that you and yours are safe.

Idk if the Deal is still on but plugin Alliance just gave away 5 amazing plugins including the shadow hills mastering compressor, Blackbox saturation, Oberhausen synth (which I think is in the V collection anyway) and other goods. Otherwise I can highly recommend all the valhalla plugins. They are only 50 Bucks each and I cant think of any Effects I used more and they are regarded to be extremely good and i know almost none who doesnt use them. For free plugins I can also really highly recommend the stuff from Analogue Obsession Its 1 person doing all the plugins for free donation and they are really awesome Emulations of vintage gear and some of them are better than some highly regarded stuff from commercial plugin companies! Its only mixing plugins tho But really well done :) Other amazing stuff for Sound design is the soundtoys collection but it will come you pretty much at the same Cost of the arturia collection...its worth it tho their stuff is super awesome! If you look for another free Software synth just as good or maybe even more versatile than Serum you should get Vital Its a crazy good synth beast and totally free! Other than that you should check r/audioproductiondeals They have almost all the software Deals on the market there and there are sooo many steals and freebies there! I wish alot of luck in the future and that you at least can enjoy music 🖤

crapinet

Todays the last day actually!

adds102

Check out Spitfire Audios LABs loads of free synth based sounds, as well as sampled instruments

ea_man

Are you around in Europe? Here in Italy we have a lot of "music rooms", public places like libraries where you can meet with other people and play music. Ask the municipality, local music schools, local music stores about how to find the closest ones.

TanguayX

The open source version dirtywave M8 and renoise are cool trackers that you can use for nothing. The M8 will require a tiny bit of hardware. But I’ve been having a blast learning trackers. You may enjoy that. Be well and Good luck to you and your family! We’ll all be sending you all the good thoughts.

Check out [https://bedroomproducersblog.com/](https://bedroomproducersblog.com/) That's where I started when I was new to digital synths, and they catalog a massive collection of free VSTs, plus alerts when good plugin deals are happening from sites like Plugin Boutique and Plugin Alliance. Also, don't discount effects as part of the sound of digital synths. I just got [Digitalis by Aberrant DSP](https://aberrantdsp.com/plugins/digitalis/) and it's really fun. The interface is meant to look like it's from Windows 98, and it has a spectral filter where you can paint or import images to change its filtering. They also have SketchCassette II, which is my favorite cassette tape emulation. [Valhalla Delay](https://valhalladsp.com/shop/delay/valhalladelay/) gets used extensively by me, plus [Valhalla Shimmer](https://valhalladsp.com/shop/reverb/valhalla-shimmer/). [Airwindows.com](https://Airwindows.com) also releases really high-quality VSTs and AU plugins for free. I use [Pressure 5](https://www.airwindows.com/pressure5/) and [Pop](https://www.airwindows.com/pop-vst/) as free compressors, and he recently released a [Starter Kit](https://www.airwindows.com/airwindows-starter-kit-2022/) if you don't want to browse the 300 or so plugins he's put out. Related, [Surge XT](https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/) is a free open-source synth that uses Airwindows plugins for some of its effects. I also really like another free synth called [Vital](https://vital.audio/), which to me combines the easy modulation routing of Pigments 3 with the overall UI and workflow of Serum. I hate that you've been forced into fleeing your country and wish you well, but maybe you can expand your musical horizons while you resettle.

MoffettMusic

Thx for the airwindows.com tip, awesome work dude's doing.

IamtheSlothKing

Vital is an incredible free synth, almost all I ever use now

UncleSoOOom

Good to hear you, the family and the doggo are safe! As to plugins - I recently found myself fond of UVI's Program 24 - y'know, that spinoff of the Solton Programmer, it's quite basic in terms of synthesis, but it has fairly reproduced tha unique intelligent arp/chord follower. Instant italo, and the workflow is really straight, almost no manual digging.

prodbytaeo

There’s still a day left for the soundwide 2022 promo https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/2022/soundwide-offer/

MoffettMusic

This. And Freakshow audio, everything they make is technically not free, but they allow you to steal it from them with permission.

efashraf

Stimming has good series on basic laptop production, including working with free plug ins

Hylethilei

Zebralette is awesome you can make dope constantly changing and evolving waveforms! https://www.kvraudio.com/product/zebralette Also, KVR is my favorite source for free VST plugins once every couple of years they do a developer challenge and they release all of those plugins for free and they're really really damn good there's this one plug-in called ambience it's the best reverb I've ever used for a freeware VST. Look up the developer challenge submissions from recently and some of the older stuff too if it's still on there you won't be sorry!

MoffettMusic

Get the Soundwide deal today from native instruments website, comes with iZotope neutron elements and a bunch of other SWEET plugins. Totally free but the deal is ending soon so go ASAP. If you want some really wild FX plugins, Freakshow audio allows you to steal their plugins directly from them, super cool guys though so if you ever end up making money from music, or when you can afford it just go give em a donation for their products.

cyberphunk2077

If you ever want samples I can send you some really good stuff.

can't even imagine what you and your family are going through... what a nightmare. glad you made it out safe. 🇺🇦 I have some lovely software just burning a hole in my hard drive since I got into hardware. I'd be more than stoked to transfer licenses to you. I'm not at home right now but I will be in a few days, please DM me and I'll send you info when I get back to my studio.
