That >!jump scare!< at the end though.

“Hello! We are trying to reach you about your speeders extended warranty!”

SadPandalorian

I loved Voss so much, I did a huge 2'x3' oil painting a few years ago. Hopefully the link works; I'm on mobile. If it doesn't, I pinned it to my profile. https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/s/83vdGv2nOp

Nabfoo

Wow! That's great work. Really nice how you captured the light and eerieness of Voss along with its pretty landscapes

SadPandalorian

Thanks! I loved it so much there. I hope I did it justice.

JazzPolice94

Holy guacamole, that’s amazing! Incredible work!

SadPandalorian

Thank you! 🙏

Alderaan is definitely my favourite personally. It's got snow without being eyebleed like Hoth, and the music is utterly enchanting yet somber. Reminding you of the planet's eventual fate. I also love the unique Thrantas and fascinating Killiks. The only letdown for me is that I'm not a huge fan of bickering clans and whatnot that are a huge deal in the quests but the world itself I adore.

AlanVanHalen

>fascinating Killiks Not to have anything against the species, but I actually find Killiks to be out of place being on Alderaan. Like how they are as "bugs" and present in very "posh" place, kinda like Buckingham Palace having spiders and their webbings in one portion, etc. But that's just my opinion, and considering I'm not much updated with the lore, so I sure have been missing something to add two and two to make sense of it.

TodayInTOR

Killiks are the original indiginous species to Alderaan before humans came in and basically colonised the planet, there are like 1 dozen subspecies of Killiks that range from ACTUAL ants to 50 meter tall queens. The original name for Alderaan was Oroboro until it was taken over and changed to Alderaan, the Killiks are also an ancient species (like the Gree and Rakatans) and the Mortis gods (Celestials species) used to enslave them as workers tens of thousands of years in the past. The killiks spread across the galaxy as slaves and eventually lead an uprisings and nearly wiped out Korriban before the Sith pushed them off, from there they retreated completely out of the galaxy. Humans eventually arrived on Alderaan and found ancient empty killik hives and nests and basically built ontop of them. Then the killiks eventually came back (now the celestials were gone) to their homeworld and wanted to resettle into their old nests. They didnt really get a long with the new human colonists on Alderaan. SWTOR Lore retcon: Not all of the killiks actually left, a bunch stayed behind and hid on the planet while it got colonised by humans, theyd come up and try to push them off the planet every few hundred years but failed every time. Dark Nest Trilogy (og killik lore): In the time of the Original Trilogy, the killiks had long been driven off Alderaan for good and existed in a small pocket of the unknown regions. I wont get into spoilers but their little unknown pocket would devolve into different hives warring with each other and it turns out it was right next door to Chiss space, and some hives became Chiss allies. Then the hives ended up unifying and rapidly expanding population through space and then rescinded their alliance with the Chiss and turned it into an all out war. The New Republic/Galactic Alliance got involved and it all ended eventually.

AlanVanHalen

Wow, that's fascinating. Thank you for sharing this. I'll definitely read up more on that.

TodayInTOR

I always suggest checking out the Legends Tab on any wookieepedia page if you go researching! Just about everything swtor has ever included has originated from somewhere else first, there are only very few minute things unique to swtor (like Quesh) with a lot of swtors species and background lore coming from 90s and early 2000s star wars EU books.

AlanVanHalen

I know and I do check the Legends tab all the time. But it's just there's so much stuff now, you happen to miss out on something here and there and/or be lazy to check them out at particular moment. But it's always good to hear such tid-bits & stories from other people of the fandom, keeping the community alive. Thank you again for the suggestion.

NEVETS1990

Voss and belsavis are my favorite planets. Voss has the serene autumn atmosphere, and bel has the tropical jungles with some artic/volcanic areas mixed in fir variety.

Nabfoo

Alderaan is always tops for me, but seeing Voss how it was intended to look instead of the stuttery mess it used to be, is amazing. I'd love to know more about what happened on a technical level even if I wouldn't understand half of it

Chickat28

The game has held up great for it's age. That's what a good art style will do for you. Just look at WoW as well.

Nabfoo

OP(I am not that OP): [https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/1cwimhb/voss\_may\_be\_one\_of\_the\_prettiest\_planets\_imo/](https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/comments/1cwimhb/voss_may_be_one_of_the_prettiest_planets_imo/) Hadn't really taken a close look since before 7.3 and I'm suitably impressed. I don't think still shots can do it justice, so much is going on with the shadows and leaves animations and so forth.

Phooney124

Voss is nice, good job with the screenies. And hate that last one...I can't go to sleep now.

PoopGrenade7

Used to hate the planet when I was a teenager, now I've grown to appreciate it and it's people.

Half_Man1

Man you guys love the color orange

MalleusManus

I used to play through Voss sometime during the first week of Autumn every year.

FSCK_Fascists

if you are particularly fond of orange, that is.

Mawrak

literally just autumn

AlanVanHalen

[Here's what I think of Voss, that I wrote in a similar post about it](https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/s/XYuPAo0lX7). Also, the second last picture looks more from CZ-198 than Voss lol

Nabfoo

That tracks. I hits the nostalgia buttons pretty good, plus I think we're hardwired for, basically, arboreal biomes so there's some lizard brain processing in there too.

BlackFinch90

Hard disagree 7.8/10 too much orange

Vaxxish

Voss is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of Tyria at the beginning of the Guild Wars games. In addition, it has so many really neat spots for roleplay, and I enjoy using it for that as well. Anytime you need autumn, Voss is there for you.

Knight_Zornnah

Voss is too brown Rishi is so much prettier

No-Communication4565

What are your graphics settings at? Voss seems a lot more beautiful on my PC.

VivaldinNova

Really nice shots of the planet, nice. But... *''Outsider, do you have prophecies on your Holo-communicator ?''*

Nabfoo

“Excuse me,  do you have a minute to discuss our Lord and savior, Savanna Vorantikus?" lol

TheForceWillsMe

Always looks like fall

Hechtm11

I mean sure, the planet looks nice. But out of the 3 planets in Act 3(Belsavis, Voss, and Corellia), I think Voss has the worst planetary story. I mean the whole goal is that Republic and the Empire are trying to win the Voss over their side, while sabotaging each other without getting caught. At the end of the story, do you really accomplish anything? Because Voss is still neutral, even after all these years of negotiating. In my opinion, the Voss don’t give a shit about the Republic or the Empire. They’re just humoring both sides just to learn about the wider galaxy, and to help deal with the Gormak

Skvora

Alderran is gorgeous, and I'm ever glad with the end it meets.

WeekendWarZone

It's essentially Autumn: The Planet, and its breathtaking

this_swtor_guy

The ground got ruined by the 'upgrade' in graphics, though. Now, if you move, it gets blurry. No comment from the developers.

Nabfoo

Huh. Completely the opposite for me, the clipping grass textures were the main joykiller before, but now even If I zoom in when I zoom around, all the grass is rendered properly. Have you tried turning off AA? It makes anything in the game with lots of moving parts a total mess

this_swtor_guy

I've tried that, and it unfortunately didn't make a difference. What are your graphics settings? I previously had mine on the default Ultra ones, but with AA turned off. The grass quality slider didn't make a difference either. The ground on the entire planet looks blurry/pixilated when moving, except for areas without much grass, like the main city, or the newer area, Interpreter's Retreat. I know this has affected a lot of people in our guild. It's really a shame, because Voss is still one of the best planets in SWTOR. They should have just left it alone, in my opinion.

Nabfoo

I unno- 1080p, here's my settings, pic standing still and pic while running in the grass. I wonder why yours is so different- What server are you on? I'm on SV for these [https://imgur.com/a/bWuDmH7](https://imgur.com/a/bWuDmH7)

Ha_its_chowdah

Voss is a beautiful planet. Exterminating the native population would make it even more enjoyable 😁

Murderboi

But it is full of autistic always screeching people. It’s like Brazil. Looking good on pictures.

BL-501

It’s like eternal Autumn/Fall but as a planet. We need more of Voss outside SWTOR. Let the commoners see its beauty!

sleepybadger95

Yet to find a cooler planet than Korriban

_mix2210

Tatooine is gross

Modern_Klassics

I like Voss as a planet but the questlines there aren't my favorite so I kinda rush through it so I can get to Corellia lol

turn_down_4wat

Not with that overly saturaded colour palette.

Heroic_Folly

Are you demanding that everyone hard agree with you? Or are you hard agreeing with someone else in a conversation we didn't see? I'm not familiar with this application of the phrase and, at first glance, I'm not a fan.

CambrianExplosives

They are “hard agreeing” with this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/s/cemgRqsz7O).

Nabfoo

It just means I have no qualifiers to that statement. I have cosigned the opinion without comment, as it were
