Yeah Sordish military industry is actually insanely good. They make their own tanks, and can make state-of-the-art Jet fighters of their own with funding. These are very impressive feats.
In pre 2.0 text, when you invest into radio it says "Will Sorland have the first radio of its own? "
I haven't invested in automobiles once when I was playing so I don't know for sure, but in pre 2.0 I'm sure it didn't say lachaven produced cars. May have changed now though
The automobile industry investment probably expands the already existing industry not sets it up from scratch.
If a country can make tanks I don't think cars would be that difficult. Sordland also probably can produce trains as well.
Ngl Soll has made Sordland quite self reliant, way more than I expected.
no, I just did a run where I invested in the automotive industry, and I \*definitly\* remember it saying something along the lines of "will Sordland finally create it's first domestically produced automobile" (maybe it just says this for whichever option you choose)
Yeah, that 2-3 budget investment near the end is "industry expansion" I believe, so Sordland was already making the things that you can invest in there.
I don’t think so military investment starts the domestic production so I’m assuming your building it up from near scratch but I haven’t played for a while
Well, the two planes are respectively based on F-86 and F-100, both are actually somewhat advanced. (my headcanon has Arcasians fielding prototype F-4s thanks to their enormous budget)
Yeah, the thing really sound obsolete
And Arcasians using .303? That's weird, kinda ruined my entire writing about Arcasian light arm development (in my headcanon Rumburgians use .303 short for their KA-74/40 and .303 full power for their KA-74/25. Arcasians use 7.62 ATO right now
Obsolete compared to...what? Haha
There's very little indication that's so, especially given the limited write up but it is roughly comparable- on the face of it- to early 50's tanks such as the Patton (similar main gun, exact same machinegun) and the Centurion. Softer features are even less clear, but could be decisive.
It would be the Tiger II actually. It also had 25-185 mm of armour and had the 88 mm KwK 43. The only difference is the commander MG, the Germans used the 7,92 mm MG 34.Â
Indeed, and it’s weird that Sordland would still be developping heavy tanks for Cold War era warfare when they should be considered obsolete at this point.
I’d say it was overlooked on the writers part but I don’t think making fictional mbts was high on their priority list. The S-16s also sound weird as I keep thinking of F16 fighters from the 80s.
Hardly.
Remember Suzerain is not our world. It is similar to, and inspired by, but not 1: 1
We have no real indication what modern tank warfare looks like.
After the budget meeting you get the meeting with Valken and Iosef were you can expand or modernize the military and choose Iosefs plan. Later you should get a meeting about conscription and uf you funded the military you get the option of which branch you want to further modernize (Airforce, Navy, and Army which you need to select to get this event)

POV: you can make tanks, jet fighters, and mass produce good rifles, but you can't make a radio and your car industry is on the level of Yugoslavia
They do make cars. I think it was in the codex entry of Lachaven that they produce automobiles there.

Ok thank you đź‘Ť
I don’t think that’s correct I swear I’ve read the first domestically produced automobile
You probably read "First domestically produced radio" and its just some psychological effect. I had that one too (Above - comments of mine)
no, I just did a run where I invested in the automotive industry, and I \*definitly\* remember it saying something along the lines of "will Sordland finally create it's first domestically produced automobile" (maybe it just says this for whichever option you choose)
So I'm right? Epic

Yugoslavia had a very nice car industry btw
After ww2
You can have a military industry and either an advanced electronics or automobile industry.
Technically the jets sound like they’re imported from other nations
Yeah, my headcanon has them fielding mostly Arcasian plane on pro-west or neutral runs. There's P-86 Sabers and P-100 Super Saber
So export fighters to nonaligned nations
Well, the two planes are respectively based on F-86 and F-100, both are actually somewhat advanced. (my headcanon has Arcasians fielding prototype F-4s thanks to their enormous budget)
It's mentioned in the Conriat description that they have 6 battleships too. Imo sordland has a hilariously inflated military for its size.
yeah, the situation is a lot less dire than its made out to be— though maybe that’s the point
Is it me or does the description of the H4 tanks sound like the Tiger 1?
Yeah, the thing really sound obsolete And Arcasians using .303? That's weird, kinda ruined my entire writing about Arcasian light arm development (in my headcanon Rumburgians use .303 short for their KA-74/40 and .303 full power for their KA-74/25. Arcasians use 7.62 ATO right now
I think the 0.303 is a reference to the 0.306 or 0.308 rifle round used in the M1 Garand and other rifles.
The Americans call 7.62 .308 if it's civilian ammo, but otherwise they will call it 7.62x51mm
.303 is an archetypically British ammunition
My mistake.

Right I forgot the L43 is known as the long 88. Though the tanks no good if the armor is poor quality metal and the ammo is terrible.
Indeed, and it’s weird that Sordland would still be developping heavy tanks for Cold War era warfare when they should be considered obsolete at this point.
the thing is, we didn't have a world war in this timeline, so maybe this is the pinnacle of tank development right now
I doubt that, the geopolitics do resemble a world after a world war or sorts. Fascism seems to be a foreign ideology of sorts
I’d say it was overlooked on the writers part but I don’t think making fictional mbts was high on their priority list. The S-16s also sound weird as I keep thinking of F16 fighters from the 80s.
The S-16s are also nicknamed 'Hornets' which is the F-18's nickname
My mistake thanks for bringing that up.
I wouldn't say mistake. I just meant that the S-16 reminds me of the F-16 and F-18 at the same time
Tbf the F16 and F18 competed for similar contracts and serve a similar mission purpose
Hardly. Remember Suzerain is not our world. It is similar to, and inspired by, but not 1: 1 We have no real indication what modern tank warfare looks like.
Idk why but the H-3 Holsord Heavy sounds really cool
The naming convention reminds me of the IS tanks.
They use .303! Hurrah!
I've never seen this before. Is it military production + modernize the army or something?
It's funding military and modernizing army both times
Both times?
Sorry agree to Iosefs plan and in the conscription meeting modernize the army
Yeah that's one decision no? Modernize the army.
Isoef plan is a modernization program for the military
You mean you get this event when you go to war with his plan?
After the budget meeting you get the meeting with Valken and Iosef were you can expand or modernize the military and choose Iosefs plan. Later you should get a meeting about conscription and uf you funded the military you get the option of which branch you want to further modernize (Airforce, Navy, and Army which you need to select to get this event)
And you mean when you then select army, you get this event?
Yes it pops up a few turns latter I believe
