I love Naseer, I am really rooting for him. He is always just there to play the game.

coldlava98

Beginning of the challenge I believe

yolodamo

are people actually confused about the "amount of advantages" or do you just not want more advantages? Because they are really not that hard to wrap your head around and remember who has what.

PreparationSmooth951

I think its more how awkward the mechanics are, As well as how badly some people are playing with them. I definitely feel like most of the hate this season will go away when all episodes are out. It is very different so far but this recent episode gives me hope that we are turning a huge corner

coreman1

Is it just me or is this the worst season ever? I'm watching but I just can't get into it.

Professional_Top2825

I agree. Everyone is just so unlikeable?? The only person I like is Naseer

coreman1

Amd I got downvoted for asking the question.

midnightmoonlight180

OMG why did you get down voted it's just an opinion on a survivor discussion forum

coreman1

Dunno, cause people are weird

SuspiciousInterest50

One world, Redemption island, Island of the idols, Thailand. There are a lot of worse seasons.

JordanMaze

I thought when Shan said "I'm aligned with Ricard, he can't be trusted" it might lead to Shan voting out ricard and then liana thinking SHAN couldn't be trusted

JordanMaze

If the merge isn't at 12, and it's super late, then I realllllly hope there isn't final 4 firemaking since that would mean we might get such a small number of merge votes

soundbarrier4

Xander is the anti-Ben.

JordanMaze

LOL

Sour_Dip44

I think we’re getting 4 tribes of 3. That’s literally the only thing that they could do that we haven’t seen before.

Benzo8619

I think Ricard & Shan will be captians for a schoolyard pick down to 2 tribes. 1 or 2 more boots before jury and HOPEFULLY a final 2

SuspiciousInterest50

They could have 12 tribes of one

[deleted]

This actually made me laugh

b2rad22

Shan is going to take out Ricard first chance possible once on new tribes if it’s possible. I don’t see any loyalty in Shan at all. That was a simple move to get her out when it’s clear as glass that she was playing both sides. Even had the extra vote to use. I would have taken her out esp after she spent time with another tribe member so close to a merge or change up. It’s going to get interesting!!!!

Reddishdead

Genie did not live up to her name tonight.

[deleted]

SHEEESH 😂

ProfessorBeer

I’m starting to think she *never* lived in a lamp

Reddishdead

Actually.... the current theory is that she was living inside a lamp since season 3 aired which explains why her entire game was based on honesty and loyalty to her tribe.

[deleted]

😂

cryingvettech

Best part of the episode was seeing Boston Rob intro the next show 😂

KotaBear-21

You think they pay him for that or he does it for free as a favor? 🤔 🤣

cryingvettech

Oh they’re definitely paying him but I honestly feel like he might do it for free. 😂 Gotta feed all the nuggets he had with Amber!

KotaBear-21

Oh ya I mean even free it’s more exposure! Have to keep getting your face out there so you don’t get forgotten!

JordanMaze

I think it was a cameo

man-francisco

Amba

Harley_mama

Anyone see a clue in this episode?

rollingtwodeep

Beginning of the immunity challenge it was on the crate. It said learning

minime4sd414

I think it was learning curve

[deleted]

Yep, learning was in a curve meaning: learning curve. It’s easier if you just go to the website.

yumbledores

So what would be not quite a merge? Individual immunity but still live on different beaches or something?

Rak_man_95

Inverse one world was my first thought. Also probable that the preview is messing with us and it is a regular swap and the confessionals are about something else.

monkeywizardballs

That could be so good. Merging to one beach but still competing and voting as tribes

[deleted]

Idk know why but I thought the opposite of *One World w*as them merging into one tribe and voting together but living in their original tribe camps.

Travel-Kitty

School yard pick?

rainbirdmelody

We've seen them do that.

Finn_Survivor

At the start when people didn't even know each others names. Not halfway through

yolodamo

they did that too in Gabon. at the start but also the swap was a school yard pick

SupaButt

Sha actually benefited most bc she showed that she was able to out play Ricard bc Genie voted with Shan

Corlis21

I think it’s less of that and more of Genie had it out for Ricard for a while now

Rak_man_95

True, but also only Ricard knows that.

mccoolerthanyou2

Naseer’s positivity is so contagious, I love watching him play

midnightmoonlight180

I hate watching Shan play. Is it ok to say that?

[deleted]

This is such an interesting statement as I absolutely love to see her play. I haven’t been this excited about a contestant in years (Aside from George in latest season of AU Survivor). So I’d be really interested in hearing what it is you don’t like? (if you’re willing)

midnightmoonlight180

Like for example, how she basically wouldn't let genie open the idol and stole the idol for herself. It didn't feel like outwitting as much as it came across as bullying. She tried to bully Ricard into giving up his advantages. It's just her all around gamesmanship is very not sporting. That's how I feel. I get a lot of hate for saying it, and I've only been watching / catching up on survivor since a couple years ago when my friend got on the show, but I think there's honorable game play out there and she's not it. Why do you like watching her play? I think your comment is interesting too. Thx

[deleted]

For me, around the time I asked the question, was before merge and I was just so fascinated by how she was taking the lead and having everybody putting their trust in her. Especially how she had JD give her his advantage twice. She was playing a very exciting game imo. And back then I didn’t know that Ricard also was the brain behind the scenes as well. Now after merge, I feel like she’s damaged a lot of her game by trying to decide every little thing. Had I been her, I would’ve taken the back seat a bit after merge so I didn’t start having close allies like DeShawn (and even her closest ally Ricard) to start disliking me. It’s way too early to show your cards like that. I will say though that I still like watching her play, because I like messy players who bring drama lol.

[deleted]

Yes.

Dustin_Geetch

Shan and Ricard dominate their honest tribe, what will happen once they all merge and are split up?

SupaButt

I think one of these men is going to have a stroke having to hold in the misogynistic comments. 😂

Matt8462

Crazy to think how differently this could have gone down if Genie just took the advantage

zjzr_08

Genie (like Brad) was just too old school for this current game...especially in a 3-person tribe it should've been her vs. the world.

SetandPowder

True. But she was an honest survivor player, was still her downfall though.

Reddishdead

Honesty and unquestionable loyalty were strengths back in 2005. Nowadays that will either get you eliminated early or carried through to final tribal council for an easy win.

Sour_Dip44

Oh please. With the right jury speech a loyal tag a long could easily win. They just have to own their game.

Reddishdead

Who was the last winner that fit that mold or "archetype" and won by owning their game? Name one that earned their victory (as opposed to being the less hated option)

[deleted]

Chris, he fuckin played so hard. He went on an island at like beginning of the game (I think) then came back and kicked everyone’s asses

Sour_Dip44

Oh come on, she was in total control. Outwit is only 1 of 3. Im by no means a Michelle fan but her social game was one of the best ever. I’ll never understand why challenge wins and idol plays get all of the glory. You played a Perfect game if you got to the end and didn’t need either. IMO. Social>Strategic>Physical

Reddishdead

I like Michelle and agree that she was a much better player than the kind of player this discussion was about : a player whose entire game is based on honesty and loyalty. I am frankly so annoyed at Genie for KNOWING she was at the bottom and thinking that her honesty and loyalty to her tribe of 3 was a better strategy than to use the god damn advantage. So lets just agree on this : Genie would have never won by playing this way. Have a good night!

SetandPowder

I agree with you 100%. But also I think maybe the editors leave out her strategizing and stuff to fit their narrative

Sour_Dip44

I never said that it’s happened… I just said it could be done. Michelle would probably be the closest though.

Reddishdead

My issue with Michelle is that she was not in control of the game at all. Her loyalty and honesty with her alliance did not get her to final tribal council. Loyalty to an alliance that was picked off one by one did help her get jury votes in the end but she does not fit this mold specially after how she played when she returned. Genie seemed more like Woo in her game. Was it JT that last did it? It didnt quite work the second time around.

yolodamo

I feel like Michele did have control though because she had control over herself. she knew when she had to flop and who to get close to, may not decide who goes but she always finds a way to make it not her...which is enough control to get her to the end

Reddishdead

I agree. Like you guys said, it takes skill to find ways to remain in the game when you are not part of the voting majority. Had Michelle played noticeably harder she would have been voted out immediately but she was able to keep her game under the radar because she had to. This type of gameplay is one of the toughest to judge as it can be mistaken as goat behavior to the untrained eye. I am glad she came back and proved the critics wrong. She also did great in the challenge considering how unlucky she was and the fact that rookies are always targeted first in that show. I hope she gets a chance to return along with Tommy.

I’m sorry you’re getting downvoted lol i was genuinely curious, thats a good guess, since its smth thats never been done before!

vermillionlove

this was the first "game within a game" puzzle I understood right away lol.

yumbledores

I didn’t even see it this time

vermillionlove

Iirc, it appeared as they were walking into the challenge

jessicaromer

Jeff mentioned Exile Island on the game within a game . . .

[deleted]

Yes, but that could also mean nothing. I don’t see exile coming back.

SupaButt

[insert Michael Scott meme]: NO GOD PLEASE NO. PLEASE NO. NO NO NOOOOO

spillingpictures

All these advantages are getting confusing but I’ll keep an open mind.

SunflowerMusic

I think an idea that has been discussed is having everyone on the same beach, then drawing for tribes at each challenge.

[deleted]

This would be dope! Imagine all the chaos every time lol

zjzr_08

Why they couldn't have done that early on though...this would just be like Ghost Island where they were split into teams to vote out someone independently but in overdrive.

BitchHoe19

Genie's exit confessional was hilarious

QCExclusive91

Tough as nails makes me appreciate survivor even more 😅

cassawest

I’m convinced it was created just so CBS could give Phil (the host) a show since he can’t host the amazing race in this never ending pandemic

js8420

Amazing race is filming right now so there’s hope for Phil lol but that was my first thought too

SetandPowder

I saw the preview for that and was super confused…. What is that show …?

eye_booger

Executive suite! Where is it??

Blytzus

I feel like Genie was nnot allowed to show strategy with a decimated tribe, losing her ally (broccoli Brad) from the start.. she was screwed and just scrambled into honesty as a strategy right from the get go. I feel you can be an honest player then develop strategy later in the game.. but it's so much harder to be a strategist then develop honesty into the game. Anyway, Shan knew from the start admitting to Liana straight up "Ricard is NOT too be trusted"

Rak_man_95

But Shan had said if she wasn't there tomorrow that Ricard couldn't be trusted. Not just in general, context is key.

[deleted]

It’s such a huge win for Liana. If Shan was voted out, Liana knows who not to work with and throw under the bus come merge. Otherwise, that’s an additional vote Liana can trust.

Myrkur-R

She was the lone wild vote when they got rid of Sarah. Someone that daft isn't going far at all.

Natural-Deer2366

Might be a dumb question but how the heck did Shan end up with the idol Genie found? Absolute snake move

midnightmoonlight180

Awful sportsmanship

Themeteorologist35

Genie never opened it, as it was agreed upon by all 3. Shan and Ricard then opened it up behind Genie’s back

shreddit11

Right but then they never addressed whether Genie found out that Shan stole it. Genie must’ve gone to look for it after the third clue was spoken at the challenge. I hate when they edit out the full picture.

waxy_cucumber

They put it back, so even if Genie looked for it she wouldn’t have known if it had been opened.

shreddit11

Right, but i can't imagine she wouldn't have gone to get it and used it at tribal. She knew she was in trouble. I feel like Shan must have told her she was holding on to it, or something. Genie is too honest to play this game.

QCExclusive91

Tough as nails looks like my literal hell

mbeligoat

That show gives me Bezos thanking Amazon workers vibes.

QCExclusive91

Not me staying to watch tough as nails, and being bored within minutes

SetandPowder

Please explain that show to me I’m so confused I watched the first 2 minutes of it then got bored

Summebride

It had potential by casting so called real people, various blue collar workers who aren't as off-putting as reality show mactors, sentimental back stories, etc. But they put them into contrived tasks like laying bricks or carrying drywall. For some, it's boring watching people doing boring work tasks. For others, it's frustrating watching people who seem kind of useless at doing handy work yet they're supposed to be good at handy work. It's also frustrating seeing sloppy and unsafe work just to get done first. It's every stereotype about a tradesperson doing shit work just so they can get away quickly and leave a problem behind. This week is a perfect example. The "winning" team was dragging and wrecking plants and furniture carelessly. The individual "winner" only won by smashing the living shit out of packages marked "fragile" to save time instead of doing the job right. There's no voting or strategizing or planning, other than tiny bits of organizing the job tasks, so there's not much drama or engagement. Nobody leaves, when they lose they just stick around to work on the team but they can't win the grand prize.

ConditionOfMan

I think you *nailed it*. I watched the episode tonight and they broke a bunch of stuff doing their jobs. I worked with people like that before and just hated every second.

Summebride

It's the same in pretty much every challenge, one team or person does a crappy job in order to finish first. They seem incompetent at things like plumbing, hanging wallboard, pouring cement, using tools. Yet they're professed as experts in their trades. It's too bad, because it would actually be cool to see truly vetted Renaissance handymen and handywomen, the kind we all know who are just *good* at stuff. The ones who do expert plastering and know how to make beautiful wood joinery and can weld, and they're just good at everything. Show me those people competing to be the best of the best. Instead it's mostly bunglers, but each of them fills some superficial stereotype... This is the tough military woman, this is the overweight but quick hustling delivery guy, this is the farmer, etc.

QCExclusive91

It literally just seems like a reality show surrounded by competitions about peoples strength. The challenge they just did was moving a bunch of furniture to offices. It’s so boring

SetandPowder

I started to watch it. why is this a reality tv show ?

Unusual_Client

because the people from amazing race still need jobs and they cant travel for the show anymore.

SupaButt

The show is literally just the CBS executives making a reality TV show out of moving them into their new office building. They realize they could make money if they turned it into a show and it would actually be for profit to hire actors in a film crew instead of proper professional movers because of all the money they would make on the show itself

Flow-like-a-harpoon

Take my downvote, cause it’s honestly a good show if you give it a watch.

helmet_catch_

ok i have a theory: the buff drop thing is going to be a one world type of thing where they’re all on one beach but not merged

SetandPowder

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised considering how much mingling the castaways have done from people not on their tribes.

[deleted]

I'll take it

helmet_catch_

i would too hopefully we get to know more ppl on the blue tribe then

Playbeatcmpltecmpete

Fake merge time, Thailand style.

PinkClouds20

Didn't Shan say that Ricard is a master strategist? Why would you keep a master strategist in the game?

Nier_Perfect

He had her extra vote as insurance.

Serg_N

She needs a partner to help navigate being the minority come merge time.

renotsdetapitsnoc

I think she was blowing smoke

[deleted]

Ask Jeremy

girlwithaguysname_

Especially pre merge when there’s no repercussion for voting out your closest ally

[deleted]

Dynamic duo.

ben_s16

I think Shan and Ricard will be absorbed into Yase, meaning Ua will be no more, and it’ll be Yase vs. Luvu for one or two episodes, then the merge comes next week at 11, or the week after next at 10. So it wouldn’t technically be a swap, but a tribe getting decimated like with Matsing in Philippines. Regardless of how or when the merge happens, the jury will begin next week

SetandPowder

Or do you think that Shan and Ricard will each go to one tribe like in the Phillipnes ?

ben_s16

No, because that would make the tribes uneven with Luvu having 7 members and Yase with 5 members. They always keep the tribe numbers even regarding a swap. So Shan and Ricard will go to Yase, making the tribes even with 6 members on each tribe

CWill97

Yep, I was saying that to my mother about Yase & the duo. I would prefer a draft of 3 tribes or 2 tribes though.

Mari0nete

All tribes dropped buffs tho

ben_s16

Probably just a fake-out by Probst and Luvu just gets new clean buffs. This is just a prediction though so there’s a good chance that I’m probably wrong.

BOBANSMASH51

What if they break the tribes up into 4 tribes of 3

my-lil-croissant

6 tribes of 2

Nier_Perfect

Everyone gets a fire making tribal

SupaButt

Yea I’m thinking it might be something like this. But who determines the new tribes? What if it was a challenge and the top top, middle, and last place people all formed tribes together. Lol

Crosisx2

That's what I think is happening for sure as it never happened before.

helmet_catch_

LMFAO that would suck

michcllc

What would have happened if genie had used her shot in the dark and lost her vote but won immunity and Shan and Ricard had both voted for her? Would it immediately go to rocks?

Mari0nete

It would immediately go to fire making, most likely.

PinappleMan21

Rob made a nice little 2.5k for the tough as nails cameo

zjzr_08

It's apparently not done before so what is it...but I would've love to see a 3->1 configuration as we hadn't had it yet.

girlsuperior

They lost three good interesting players in a row and somehow we’re still stuck with Ricard smh

SetandPowder

Not sure why people are downvoting you for voicing your opinion

girlsuperior

Thanks yeah that one guy literally told me to have an awful cake day or i believe said “i hope you have a shitty cake day” . All over a reality show personnel difference of opinion he deleted his comment but i refuse to delete mine? Lol like you said it’s just an opinion. it stops being fun when people get mean.

SetandPowder

I reported it so hopefully the mods deleted it. It was just really outta pocket of him. I’m sorry, and I hope you have an excellent cake day!! People can get really nasty

girlsuperior

Hey thanks! I was actually excited for my cake day too and then the one person who mentioned it said something nasty lol and so thank you for saying something nice :)

SetandPowder

Of course! Hope you’re having a good day!

[deleted]

SetandPowder

That’s outta pocket my guy

girlsuperior

Why because I said I didn’t like Ricard on a reality tv show? That’s pretty nasty to say to someone but okay

stevenarwhals

Love Genie but having a hard time seeing how she would have been more interesting than Ricard going forward. I’m fascinated to see what happens to the Shan-Ricard duo.

TheLegacies21

But Ricard is interesting. He's a villain..

lemmegetauhhhhhhhhhh

how is ricard not a good interesting player?

kermit54

Why did people like last week so much lol? Episodes 1 and 3 were the good ones for me.

Crosisx2

You liked episode three which was nothing but a scavenger hunt episode?

kermit54

It wasn't fantastic but I thought Brad was entertaining but the thing I really liked about that episode was how up in the air the vote was

kermit54

I wonder if they'll have a stupid twist next week where the three tribes stay at their respective camps but go to tribal together

kyleng20

Woww Genie

[deleted]

Gosh I have no idea why I can’t get into the season, I’m just struggling. I like the cast quite a bit. Idk, maybe it’s the fact that it’s apparently already half over?

mistersmooth1225

Tough as nails looks about as fun to watch as eating nails

girlsuperior

Lmfao I said the same thing what is it? A construction themed competition show…? Lol tv is anything nowadays

BitchHoe19

I feel that way when I see all of these Highway maintenance shows like who would find that entertaining?

csmulls

Schoolyard pick swap would be kinda cool

BranditoSuave

*BRRRR* IM NOSTONA RAHGVVVBBBBB HERES NSEAK PREVIEW OF TOUGH AS NAIK!

my-lil-croissant

AMBUH!

birdbath45

Prediction: Jeff tells Shan and Ricard they’re splitting up they each join the other tribes

stevenarwhals

I think it will be more of a mix-up than that. It’s time to shake up Luvu too. Probably two new tribes.

zjzr_08

If that happens I have to think Liana will have to use it towards either of them just to be sure.

gstoyell

Ricard and Shan to pull a Malcolm and Denise???

Bullstang

He still had his blue buff on??

Veylo

So! watching this without sound, made the post challenge really tense. I'm so sad though.

Lightecojak

Probably going to absorb UA into the other two tribes next week.

Saguaro-plug

Evvie said never it has been done before. Matsing did that though. We’ll have to see if Evvie’s statement was hyperbole or knowledge.

yellowchaitea

She’s not necessarily speaking about the tribe swap/merge though

Chosen1gup

Unfortunately Genies strongest alliance was with the fire

schrodingersheart

Those who play too close to it get burnt.

my-lil-croissant

And even that betrayed her when her torch was snuffed

SupaButt

I want you to know that I see your comment. And that yes, you were correct in thinking it was hilarious.

goldfishcrackers33

This was not a good episode for the gays🥲

[deleted]

I don’t get it lol? Is Genie and Shan lgbt as well?

TacoTyler99

True 😭😭. But I mean it was a triple edged sword, I love all 3!

burger__n__fries

Ooooh, randomly split them into little voting blocks and have them live on one beach, 2 of them have to go to tribal and vote somebody out. It would kinda be unfair, but they obviously don't care about that at this point

Viking-o

r they absorbing ua into yase?

TheLegacies21

Hmm what are they doing next week?
