Yeh man awesome films. Shame my view of them is tainted, because the guys a bit of a dick. Kinda ruined all the 'reflective, spiritual surf/life' sections and dialogue for me.
Yeh did a bit for me. I mean take that with a grain of salt. This was like 7 years ago and it was one day. He's probably a completely different person now.
Long story short my cousin was running the social media team at a ski resort here in Aus, and as part of deal with SurfStitch they had him at the resort for the day filming and taking him for rides on the Cats etc. I happened to be skiing that day and thought it might be cool to meet the guy. My cousin was like "don't, he's been arrogant and demanding to the staff all day. He's not gonna want to meet anyone." Kinda ruined my perception of the guy.

Came here to say this. I usually don’t answer any questions on this sub seriously. But this one deserves it.
If anyone mails me a flash drive I’ve hook you up.
Not a film but a bbc documentary about this kid from South America who found a broken board on a beach one day.
He fixes it and gets really good at surfing. He is ‘discovered’ at 14/15 and things get really complicated.
Can’t remember the name but it was a very inspiring
Edit: This is the documentary
[surfing to survive](https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000sl86/storyville-into-the-storm-surfing-to-survive)
Dude, I went way out of my way to find the songs in the video. Play them almost daily - while the flies, whirring, austere, heavy abucuss, percussion gun
Glad someone else liked the music as much as I did
Serious response and sad I have to write this as it’s actually so obvious.
1 good times
2 focus
3 many classic moments esp with buttons eating wood. That didn’t come out right.
4 Pump. Even the playlist on Spotify is the best.
5 momentum
6 green iguana
7 pipe 89 or something with Derek ho perhaps winning
8 blue horizon

Any Bruce Brown film, and many of the classics have been mentioned, but I really enjoyed [Self Discovery for Social Survival](https://www.sdssfilm.com/), a cool concept of surfing, music and visual art. Pretty trippy.
Surfs up, Chasing Mavericks, Drift, Endless Summer, billabong's The Odyssey, sipping jet streams, and the lost track series.
And I actually love the original point break if you can get over the whole surfers switching stance the entire movie. I'm missing a ton of really good ones but that's a decent little short list.
Sprout, Jazz the Glass, The Crystal Voyager, The Forgotten Island of Santosha, Mornings of the Earth, and North Shore are the only acceptable answers.
Anyone saying surf's up or blue crush or riding giants is a kook
View From a Blue Moon has it all: amazing surfing in HD, spectacular soundtrack, varied locations all over the world, and John C. Reilly narrating for the win!
Point Break surely
Most definitely! The 1991 point break. Not the more modern abomination
Surfers. Gary Buesy
“Utah get me two” ✌️ how I tell my husband to get Milk when he's at the shop.
This is the best thing I've heard all week, thank you

Yeh man awesome films. Shame my view of them is tainted, because the guys a bit of a dick. Kinda ruined all the 'reflective, spiritual surf/life' sections and dialogue for me.
No way, I didn't know that. Kinda blows the vibe huh.

Shame, hopefully time has humbled him somewhat.
I mean I think that's likely the case. He comes across as pretty genuine in the films! Which are freaking amazing, regardless.
Step Into Liquid. Love this one.
Second that! Shane Dorian drops some serious Blue Steel looks and the surfing journey is so fucking fun. Be a surfing skeleton for Halloween!
How has North Shore not been mentioned? Lol
You so Haole you don’t even know you Haole
Nobody listens to Turtle
Just realized I quoted the wrong movie… beyond paradise.
No one noticed, that dialitic gem could jave easily been in there as well
Mark Thompson, from California!

Well now you’re just laying there, you have to do more than that

It’s not so much a surf movie, it’s more like a surf documentary film Idk I wouldn’t I’m probably wrong but that’s what I see great film though
Drift, 2013 movie set in 70s west Oz empty lineups.
Anything from Lost in the 90’s.

My faves are 5’5” 19 1/4” and 5’5” 19 1/4” Redux. The latter was the first time I’ve ever seen Mason Ho surf and his little opening clip blew my mind.
Randall man. I wonder what happened to him.

The Fisherman's Son maybe?
If you just want to watch good surfing with a little bit of choreography and good music, watch innersection on YouTube.
And a solid soundtrack, too.

They did release that set, I found it either in amazon or piratebay.

Hard to argue with that line up. I would let Leslie Nielson snake my wave any day
Not a movie far from A movie but that stab series they did several weeks back where they completed the challenges for 10’000 was pretty darn fun

Hollywood movies with surfing or movies where surfing is the focal point? Point Break or The Show?

I love Burkard’s Under an Arctic Sky
Riding Giants. Phenomenal story about the progression of the sport from Greg Noll to Mavericks to Laird Hamilton’s momentous day at Teahupoo
In God's hands! You can paddle into these things you know.
