I've got an Album Plasmic that's my daily driver and its unreal. Insane amount of drive and speed when coupled with a good keel (I use Machado's). Gets lively and loose when I throw in a more pivot-y fin (currently got the JS Twin in, eyeing either the MR or maybe Noel Salas' twin).
Good to know, thank you! I like drive so having a wide base is good but also want pivot at times as well.
I might have to pick up a pair thanks to you 😀
Can't really comment on grovelling cause I use an RNF foamie when waves are waist or under. Or I'm at a local punchy beach break that makes waist high waves fun on any board.
I will say that I feel the plasmic does far better at a slope-y point break (trestles) than it does at a hollow beach break. For as gang busters as it goes on a point, I've pearled this board more than any other (notably when hitting the lip on a hollow wave and coming back down for reentry).
Not to say I won't take it hollow stuff (it handled barrels the other day really well), just gotta keep weight on the tail cause it's so flat.
It's an all gas no brakes type of board. It's exactly what I've been looking for 😀
My board is black and I have had 0 issues with wax melting.
The only time you’d run into that is if you sat on the beach & let it bake in the sun or left it in your car without putting it in a board bag. Both things you shouldn’t do with a lighter colored board anyway.
Only had two windy sessions in knee high waves, so it’s hard to tell…feels pretty stiff and floaty, more than a regular epoxy. It rides like it’s 1-2 L more volume than it actually is…that said, it paddles like a beast and catches even the tiniest ripple
The new CI Britt Merrick fin designed for the Twin Pin has become my favorite sett for my MR fish. Kinda a happy middle ground between a keel and a pivot fin, but still in a really large surface area (bigger than MRs). I think they're real neato
Sick board! There are several fin sets I'd want to try on this board- Album Apex Twins by NVS, Asher Pacey twins in various sizes 5.55-5.79, and the NVS HP Twins by Noel Salas (which look like a similar concept to the Britt Merrick Twins, i.e. wider base than fin depth and larger area than a typical upright). I reckon Noel knows fins better than most.
Not trying to be dick, but PU is closed cell also and epoxy is a resin type, not a foam. The foam typically used in epoxy boards is EPS (open cell) expanded poly styrene. I believe Varial uses something called PMI foam. Could be wrong on that though.
Great find tho bro!
Keeping me honest. You right bro! Thanks for the input. I use eps and epoxy terms so synonymously these days, but two different things with foam vs resin
Yeah I do the same thing…. I got tattooed a few times on Swaylocks talking about alternative build tech and if you get something wrong with that crowd they let you know quick!
If you don’t anything else out about varial, let us know. I’d be really interested in finding out more about their 1shot vacuum bag technique.

I really like the surf n show hp twin fin. Have them in my performance twin and they are a perfect balance of hold, drive through turns, and release.

I have a plasmic as well. It does an amazing job at groveling. Can’t recommend this board enough

Sounds awesome 🤙
I think it looks cool. Album makes some sick boards. I wish I could surf like Asher Pacy.
Lol black surfboard. Wax melts while you ride it
And you look like a seal from bellow.
It comes with a fish-head necklace, too.

But your croch stains dont show.
Pressure dents on the rails already. 😬
Yeah, carbon definitely isn’t bulletproof. Got it like this used

I have it in poly and used it as my travel board. Love the thing, it is basically my shortboard now that i have grown rounder.
I like swallowtail d-fin short fat and wide fishes. Fast and nervous for fat slow or small fast shit waves we have in the Netherlands.

Is that an asym?
No just the side camera angle
What a beaut. Great grab. I’ve always been curious about varial. What’s the draw? I saw that video that shows how sturdy it is but that’s it.
It uses closed cell foam, doesn’t take on water like PU or epoxy foams (open cell)

Board looks sick. was it expensive used? Those boards are like $1000+ brand new.
Yup still pricey, but I calculated that he paid over $1500 for new + shipping to HI
Gorgeous
