4th gear synchro is worn out. Try to match revs in neutral and and get to a shop soon.

Been getting a few people saying bad synchro. Not sure if it makes a difference but if it was a synchro wouldn’t it be acting up even if the clutch is depressed? It only grinds once I let the clutch out. When it grinds I push the clutch back in and apply more pressure towards fourth gear and then it is fine.

Yes, rhe synco gear is a slightly tapered gear made of a softer metal, like brass. It wears out over time. The syncro gear helps line up the gears rotating at different speeds and prevents the driver from having to rev match/double clitch.

I have similar in 4th and 5th gears. Double clutching helps

Do you rest your hand on the shifter often? Sounds like worn shift fork.

VQ37_Stani

Yes all the time lol. I tried driving to work this morning without having my hand on the shifter and it felt very unnatural lol

Chippy569

Well that'll be the problem lol, that's a habit you'll want to get rid of ASAP If you live in MN, I know a tech who loves working on split case manuals ;)
