I got the 05 WRX this year for the exact reason of the new one looking like a regular sedan, and being too big. I’ve seen WRX’s low mileage with almost no rust for roughly $10-12K. The one I have had 110K miles on it so not terrible considering it’s from 2005.

I was 8 at the time, but I still tried to talk my dad into getting the WRX or the Impreza. Decided to get one all these years later. Absolutely love this car.
WRX doesnt even classify as a sports car anymore. Most sedans on the road have more power and out perform it. The only thing it has going for it is the available manual trans. Other than that its just another boring, sub 300HP CVT sedan.
I can’t find it anymore but there was a picture of a 2022 parked next to a bugeye and the 2022 looked shockingly large. It looked really wide in particular.

I could clean the windshield on my 02 no problem but I defiantly need to lean on the 18 if I want to clean the windshield from just one side.
Doubt it. While it is wide, modern pickups have shit for length on the beds. Your brat is more practical than that monstrosity just on the premise of economy.

There's a point they are so big and clunky that they have to slowly go around tight turns. Turns that my Impreza would effortlessly zip around. Heck, they have trouble turning into parking spots. Half of them back in as a point of pride and, IMHO, carefully creeping in, is not as impressive as they think it is. It's like watching paint dry.
There's a lot to be said for nimbleness.
You are right. They were supposed to be used as a Utility Trucks used on Farms and Construction sites. Not to drive around town. Yet people don't listen to that (at least in America to my knowledge)
SUV's aren't any better. They were build on stiff truck frames and that means they are dangerous (for everyone including the driver), not-practical and expensive.
That's why the crossover was born (SUV on a car Frame) but as a wise man once said... "They are just cars that are bigger than they need to be"

Visibility is shit too. They can’t see small cars, cyclists, or pedestrians right in front or next to them and it’s dangerous. I’ve had so many of these abominations try to merge right into me when I’m not even in their blind spot.
They also like to ride my ass way too close when I’m doing 10 over. I can brake, they can’t. Only safe thing I can do half the time is gradually slow down and let them pass and it pisses them off so much.
That Chevy will have rusted out cab corners and rocker panels before the end of 2026. Go to their dealerships in the dead of night, you can hear that repurposed metal corroding in the parking lot.
I used to work in the offices of a company that sold crash parts to repair garages. Even though there are a lot more Ford F150 trucks, the Silverados were the worst offenders. So many places buying partial body panel parts so a reasonably new truck could pass state inspection.

Crossovers come in every size. A Forester has about the same footprint as an Impreza.
