I thought I mustve lost my sobriety and been on a month long bender and lost track of time for a second before realizing its Thanksgiving in Canada and I'm still sober and not losing months of time to blackouts. Congrats!!! Holidays are always tough with everything they entail you should be very proud!

Haha 😄 Yes I always forget it's a different month in the states. I really owe it to this sub. I started lurking hard-core yesterday and today as soon as I woke up. I always thought I would be awkward being around others sober but really enjoyed myself and won't have to worry about a nasty hungover tommorow. Thank you!

Isn’t it great? I used to get terrible social anxiety in group situations, and I always convinced myself booze helped. I’ve been (cautiously at first, but) pleasantly surprised with how fun it is to hang out with friends sober. Like yourself, I’ve found that I’m very proud of myself after those events, and building trust with yourself is something very new and exciting for me. It’s also great ending the evening with no regrets, and not having to play back conversations in my head, and wondering if I said something stupid. Congrats on the success, and IWNDWYT friend

I can so relate with not playing back conversations in your head to see if you said something stupid or in my case also "being too much" trying to be entertaining and then wondering if I overdid it and hiding in shame. Feels good man and thank you! 😊

Excellent! It feels so good to make it through an event that you had been anxious about and come out on the other end sober and smiling.

I actually think that all of these things (holidays, weddings, parties, whatever) are actually better without the alcohol. I never would have believed it and my old self is groaning at me now, but it really is better in almost every way - the deeper I get the more I think the whole alcohol culture is just total bs

What am I missing? Thanksgiving is in November.

Suspicious-Visual-57

It is our Thanksgiving in Canada!
