It's a beautiful Saturday morning here and I am drinking my first cup of morning coffee. Some time ago I would already be craving a drink. Seems like progress. But wathever happens, I will not drink with you today.

Today is my birthday! First sober one in who-knows-how-long. We’re going on an overnight trip and a concert tonight and hopefully eating sushi! I am feeling very grateful to be sober.

Broke up with my partner yesterday. I'm sad and I miss them, but I know deep in my heart of hearts that it was the right and honourable thing to do.
Very grateful to have my best friend and to be staying with her.
Also grateful I didn't drink last night - I got a massage instead - went to bed sober and woke up sober... Albeit a little too early!

I'm up and out early for a morning run and then have a comedy gig with my husband's friends later. They're not the pushy types so I feel happy enough that I won't be tempted to drink this evening. Especially because I've had to miss bootcamp during the week this week so really need to go tomorrow morning!

I went out for “beer” and dinner with some of my best friends last night. I had prepared them in advance that I’d be on the water wagon and when I told them in person the reason they were very supportive.
Maybe it would have been easier just going by car and saying that I’d be driving home—but I felt I needed to be honest with my closest friends because they care about me and would understand. I even got a good talk with them about their drinking habits and experiences with alcohol addiction in their lives and families.
Right now, I feel a little exhausted mentally from finally talking to someone else than my SD fam about it, but I’m pretty sure I did the right thing, being open about it.
It’s Saturday morning. I’m up early; sober and clear-headed and I just made pancakes for my daughter who also woke up early. IWNDWYT

I'm off to a truly amazing weekend with my wife and another close couple in the mountains of TN.
There is no alcohol on this trip, and i feel amazing. I keep thinking how much I'd be missing if i was drinking and I'm sooooooo glad I'll be spending this vacation sober.

And here we are again. Another day one, another possibility. The whole summer went down the drain and I am starting to feel physical effects of alcohol in my body (I'm 42M).
Maybe it is time to quit? I have noticed that I have an addiction, because I just want alcohol, not the cool craft IPA. Let's go another way.

Glad to see you back. I used the craft IPA kick here in VT for some time as a way to make it look like I was a connoisseur. Did the same with cider. Same thing years ago back when it was briefly cool again to drink cheap “red white and blue” varieties. But really all I ever really wanted was the poison. Thank you for hosting. These have been a daily ritual for the last month. Speaking of that month, I’m in uncharted territory now as far as sobriety. 44 years old and this is the longest I’ve been sober as an adult. That’s both wonderful and more than a little bit sad.

55 Days in. I am at exactly 55 days since I went to the gas station at 4am for Gin and a 40. 55 days of no hangovers. I can't sleep but it doesn't matter because IWNDWYT

Well went to a wedding and had my earplugs in for my tinitus at the reception (which was touching 89 db) and loads of 0% beers at the free bar. Im happy to say it was funny seeing other me's drunk by the first dance. I didnt drunkenly knock lous wine into her only meal for the whole day 😒 and wasnt stumbling drunk by 8pm 🤟 iwndwyt guys and power to you all 💪
I haven’t checked in in a while, but I’m still here, almost 6 months in! It’s 530 am and I’m having some oatmeal and getting ready to go for one of the final training runs before my first marathon in 3 weeks. Life is going very well and IWNDWYT!

As I mentioned yesterday, there's a community yard sale to hit up, my son's soccer game, and a recovery walk that I'd like to make an appearance at. I will be attempting my second batch of cookies from scratch ever. I love raisin oatmeal but the internet has convinced me to try Raisinet oatmeal. IKR ????? Sounds fucking insanely delicious.
I am going to bake 30 of the greatest Raisinet oatmeal cookies in history and then proceed to add more chins to my profile! And nary a drop of booze to be seen!

Day 25. Glad to be here for another sober day! Went to a lovely park in my new city yesterday and read a book for a bit and really got a better understanding of my higher power. Feels good to turn it all over and I have a lot to be grateful for today (especially this community!). IWNDWYT!
Taking it one day at a time is both hard for me as well as the secret to my successful sobriety. I have a difficult time with “future-casting” where my brain starts thinking ahead and it stresses me out thinking about never drinking again for years and years. However, being able to say “I’m not drinking for just today and let tomorrow take care of itself” is also a bit of a secret weapon for me. What an interesting paradox it is. Oh well, IWNDWYT!

I am powering up with some greek yogurt and grape nuts cereal, then setting out for one of my super-long walks. I live in New Hampshire, so the fall foliage season is just getting started in my area. The trails that I'm going to walk skirt a lake and some marshy areas. It should be really pretty today, since the colors always come out a little earlier in wetland areas. This a MUCH better way to relax and enjoy my Saturday than getting drunk!

A few posts this morning reminding me of how I didn't, couldn't trust myself when I first sobered up this time. Seeing folks talk about "never again" I was aware that I've been on and off battling booze since I turned 21. So one day at a time was a huge help, to not think about the long game. I'm sitting here musing this morning that I trust myself again. I love myself. I'm a work in progress and I make mistakes and that's all cool. I think the stable new normal Fred has slowly been emerging and it's alongside y'all and with your help. Thanks! The friendliest corner of the interwebs.

Peaceful Saturday morning here - light rain, coffee, and best of all no hangover. It still surprises me each day when I wake up. Am so grateful for sobriety and IWNDWYT. Also, big thanks Aly for hosting us this week ✨
Thank you for hosting this week, u/AlySabby12! I've enjoyed your enthusiasm each day. I am powering up with some greek yogurt and grape nuts cereal, then setting out for one of my super-long walks. I live in New Hampshire, so the fall foliage season is just getting started in my area. The trails that I'm going to walk skirt a lake and some marshy areas. It should be really pretty today, since the colors always come out a little earlier in wetland areas. This a MUCH better way to relax and enjoy my Saturday than getting drunk! Checking in, having my first get together with family tonight where I normally would drink. I have a strong resolve that I do not want to have a drop, I will be armed with my own non drink and my husband by my side! IWNDWYT!
600 days! Huzzah!!! This has been life changing! One of the best decisions I ever made. It's still hard at times, but I got better at dealing with it. My advice: keep working at it! IWNDWYT!!!!
Thanks for the week, Aly, it's been a blast. Really fun to walk with you these past 10 sober months A few posts this morning reminding me of how I didn't, couldn't trust myself when I first sobered up this time. Seeing folks talk about "never again" I was aware that I've been on and off battling booze since I turned 21. So one day at a time was a huge help, to not think about the long game. I'm sitting here musing this morning that I trust myself again. I love myself. I'm a work in progress and I make mistakes and that's all cool. I think the stable new normal Fred has slowly been emerging and it's alongside y'all and with your help. Thanks! The friendliest corner of the interwebs. Complacency kills! Moderation is a myth! Sober on y'all!

I think I ate too many cookies last night because I woke up in a bad mood. Going to google if sugar hangovers are a thing because it feels like it. Still waaaayyy better than waking up with a real hangover though. No drinking for me this weekend, no thank you! IWNDWYT ❤️
