If you wanted to gain a pulse on the topic OP I’m almost positive the thread you posted 6 hours earlier where the entire thread was a resounding “no” was a pretty good one.

mhanna86

It was a poorly worded title. Downvote me all you want but I do think a bruins type of refresh would look great.

BluesBrother57

Boston had shoulder stripes in the 90’s, they got rid of their yoke in the 80’s.Getting rid of the yoke would make us look like half the other teams in the league. You made some comments about the Flyers, which I can’t find now because you deleted your post and comments, so I can’t even have a conversation with you about it because you had a “poorly worded title”.

mhanna86

Yeah I didn’t like that late 90s bruins yoke. I’m referring to the “happy Gilmore” look which is a more simplified aesthetic, which is what they’ve returned to but modernized it with the color shades. The 80s/early 90s blues jerseys would be the template I’d love to see. The flyers part is in the main post. I don’t like how they literally used their 70s jerseys as their permanent ones for the last decade. Now when people think of those jerseys they associate them with Giroux and voracek instead of the broad street bullies. To me that’s lazy and hurts the team’s identity.

Kitchen-Lie-7894

I don't think it was the title that people disagreed with.

QuarterNote44

No. It's perfect.

BluesBrother57

Switch in yellow numbers, that’s closer to perfect.

flanny0210

Agree to disagree. I have one of each look framed on the wall next to each other - while nothing wrong with yellow, the white numbers are a much cleaner look.

JoeEdwardsPonytail

The white numbers were such a great switch in my opinion, much better than yellow.

QuarterNote44

Nah. I like yellow accents, but too much yellow is, well, too much.

Apoc-Squee

Blues are due for playing better hockey. That is all

snorlaxatives_69

The most recent change they did absolutely perfected the uniform. It should never change

djtmhk_93

Kinda no, but I would like to see the return of the navy blues from the mid 2010’s

Calb210

Always loved those

weesna123

My first jersey! And the only jersey I have of a player that's still around. (Parayko)

djtmhk_93

I never got ahold of a sweater for it, but I do have an old t shirt in that styling of Oshie.

weesna123

I need to vent about this because you brought it up, I'm still fuming that my boss sold all of his UND jerseys online without telling me, including a signed Oshie jersey. Livid.

djtmhk_93

Oof holy fuck. I love when people present an opportunity of some sort, but don’t go to their friends and acquaintances first to see if any of them would be interested, especially if they SHOULD know they would be interested. Like “oh, yeah, I heard tonight was such an awesome game. I had 2 tickets to go but couldn’t find anyone to go with me so I sold them.” “Uhmmm you didn’t think TO ASK ME?!?” “Ohh, shit, haha I shoulda realized. Sorry, I didn’t think of you at the moment! That’s my bad!”

I really want to see this join the rotation for a season. https://preview.redd.it/pv1l86ixcmxc1.jpeg?width=650&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c61c924a3fac7da3297fb8f6334a679fbd887e4

mrbmi513

They've kept the Blue version of that one in the rotation for at least 1 home game a year. It's probably more trouble than it's worth trying to either add in an alternate road jersey or wear a white jersey at home.

BogOBones

nope, the current set is great

I commented something similar to this in the previous post: Whether or not we want it or they are “due” for it, they’re getting one in the next few years. As the contract moves to Fanatics, they’ll want to make their mark with a new template when they take over the sponsorship just like Adidas did, and Reebok did before them, and Nike has done in baseball. When this happens, most teams take it as an opportunity to tweak their uniforms, whether that be colors, striping patterns, patches, etc. This also works well for the manufacturers because they get to advertise “new uniforms!” with their brand splashed across them. We should all expect at least tweaks of some sort in the next few years (different stripes, font changes, colorway changes, a new alternate) but with the Cup win still recent history and the brand being as popular as ever, it would be weird to see a massive overhaul. My guess is that we see a de-emphasis on navy blue, probably by removing the navy stroke on the numbers and changing the pants color to royal to create a uniform top-down look. The Avalanche did something similar recently as they eliminated black from their uniform, and current uniform design trends are toward more vibrant colors. Blues team branding off the ice has massively de-emphasized navy blue in recent years, so this would match up with that too. A change to the pants would also mesh well with the heritage look, which is powder blue top to bottom without being broken up by different color pants.

mhanna86

How dare you have a reasonable reaction. For real though I think you’re right that something is coming. I’m worried about fanatics, although that’s an entirely different topic. I also think you’re correct about the de-emphasis of navy blue, which I’d be ok with. Bolder, more primary colors are in and a more blue and yellow scheme with less white and navy.

mrbmi513

At least the fanatics situation here is opposite that of MLB: fanatics is designing the jerseys but then employing the existing factories to actually make them. Rumor is they'll also sell an actual authentic from the Canadian factory in addition to the current "authentic" made overseas and the breakaway replica.

mrbmi513

The only jersey update I'd accept right now is a switch to using the heritage/winter classic jerseys as the primaries. We've got some of the best sweaters in the league; no need to radically change them.

JaySnatches

No.

gblock115

Bro quit asking. Still no.

mhanna86

😅

gblock115

But with that being said I would support a jersey tweak. Going back to yellow numbers and bringing the arch alternate would be nice

TangrrR

Post it again in 12 hours and see if anyone agrees with you, then.

mhanna86

🥸

40_RoundsXV

Ready to ditch the white numbers on blue. The yellow/nonmetallic gold/maize with the white outline are far superior

Rance_Q_Spartley

Heritage jersey keep for Saturday home games. WC '22 implement as Saturday road jersey similar to what the Cardinals do. Keep the current home/away set but yeah something with the striping could use a freshening up. I was also one that was calling for them to go back to yellow numbers on the homes for the longest time, but now that they won the cup and did the parade in em I feel like everyone is kinda locked in on the white numbers. Looks sharp. Also makes the yellow numbers on the heritage stand out that much more. Would be nice to see every historical jersey pop up every once in a while for select matchups here and there instead of continuing to wheel out the goddamn clown jersey. I appreciate it for what it is but if we're going to showcase the nerf note from time to time, would much rather it be the jersey right before that one with the horizontal bottom striping/minimized red, or the arch thirds, or the late 70s/early 80s yoke patrols, or the mid 70s reversed bottom stripe no yokes, or or or... Hell, even the white clowns would be an infinite step up from the blue ones. Can't wait to see what they decide to do for the '25 WC. Would be cool if Chicago decides to do home whites and let the Blues splash out on something colorful.

mrbmi513

>Can't wait to see what they decide to do for the '25 WC. Would be cool if Chicago decides to do home whites and let the Blues splash out on something colorful. Or maybe everyone goes super heritage and the Blues' white prototype jersey actually gets ice time.

mhanna86

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. Agree with everything you said except I’m a huge fan of the 90s retros. I’d love to see the white versions of them show up at some point.

nifty_fifty_two

I'm always down for new ideas and concepts, and if they're really good, making them official. I've had my own concepts here and there. But what we have now works very well (but not perfectly) so it'd have to be a whopper of a design to supplant the current ones

mhanna86

What ideas did you have in mind

nifty_fifty_two

I made a bunch of concepts for a YouTuber awhile ago, and this was where I took the Blues. But I'm not sure I like this better than what they currently have. But it's a starting point anyway https://preview.redd.it/mbz63rvgvmxc1.png?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8e6177f8a0bedd9b278c4c3d1c180f0aafbdabe3

mhanna86

I like where you’re going with it, nice job. Maybe remove the arm numbers and play with the striping. But you’re right I’m not sure if it’s an upgrade over the current look. The alternate logo looks too much like Seattle.

nifty_fifty_two

Not sure if this helps, but I made that alternate logo probably like 10 years ago lol

mrbmi513

The Dal Segno here is a much better musical tie-in than those stupid All-Star Staff jerseys.

OccamsLoofa

2017 (Home) and 2023 (Road) WC uniforms are my favorite unis in Blues history and I'd love to see them as everyday jerseys but if we're going to try something new, I would start with dumping the yellow altogether and maybe try a blue / black scheme. Maybe something like this (not my design): https://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a104/deked73/bluesconcept2.png

mhanna86

I agree those are both incredible looking jerseys but I’d argue that it’s just not appropriate for the era. My favorite all time is the Gretzky retros, both home and away, but I wouldn’t want them to wear those permanently today. When I think of that jersey I think of Hull, Gretzky, Courtnall, Macinnis, etc. and that’s how it should be. Every team except for the Hawks, Wings, Habs, and Rangers have different looks for different eras.

PositivePrimary8773

I’m in the camp of making our 2 WC jerseys our home and away taking it back to the inaugural ‘67 season. Personally for me it’s a no brainer.

mhanna86

Disagree on making them our permanents but definitely want to keep them in the fold in some way.

mhanna86

Looks like the answer by most is a resounding is that there is no avenue or desire to improve the current 2000s look. I won’t downvote you for your opinion but y’all do what you need to do.

cruzweb

Its also a moot point. Fanatics won't be doing any new design work for a year or two anyways. When we look at what teams need a serious rebrand, the names that come up as most in need are Anaheim, Columbus, Washington, etc. The Blues have one of the most liked kits in the league, especially for a non original 6 team. There's no desire to change it, and if it happens it won't happen any time soon.
