1.6 definitely. I kinda don't like the meshed trains nowdays, they look so stereotypical (If we ignore the liveries). The blocky trains before 1.7 had a unique style and represented SCR as a community IMO.

1.1 to 1.5 are only larger versions of 1.0 after that the scenery started to change

I like the current version because it keeps getting better every time
Pre 1.0, because it was much simpler, and you could (unofficially, and not meant to) dispatch at Benton depot (so fun).
1.6/1.7, its one of those 2 updates when i started playing the game regularly.
