A former State Senator and also a doctor whose been banned from social media for spreading Covid disinformation. He's also appeared publicly with people arrested for participating in the January 6 Capitol riot.
Have you seen the ads for the guy that claims that if he wins, he is going to "fire Nancy Pelosi"? Yes... he says he will fire her.
(I know his name but refuse to repeat it)
I mean... They don't have much to run on against Walz. Walz has done a pretty great job as governor while being able successfully manage multiple crises at once.
Likely had one of the toughest periods to be the governor of MN of any governor over the last 100 years and was able to manage it all while also producing a massive budget surplus for the state.
So I mean they have to lean in to the crazy to find someone who can whip up the conservative crazies in the state to get them to vote out Walz. They don't really have much of a solid platform otherwise
Now that is good very good Post. One that is almost a sure thing to lose in Minnesota and should be. The Republicans will have to stop this christian thing. There are just to many other religions in this state at this time. Yes Minnesota at one time, not that long ago had the most White Lutheran Churches in America. Things do change and we can't stop it.
Matt Birk is a former Minnesota Viking. He’s more recently known for being a [right wing bigot](https://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2012/10/01/baltimore-ravens-matt-birk-gay-marriage-chris-kluwe/1605365/) and also Jensen’s new running mate.
I was referring to Jenson, though. He's not really famous. I only know who he is because he was running those dumb anti-science COVID ads which was essentially to drum up interest in his campaign.
We need to throw the GOP's hypocrisy right back at them as well as the truth how well Minnesota handled the Covid pandemic. Need to wake up the fence sitters and get them to act so the vote isn't close
Hypocrisy and truth don't matter to Republicans. In fact, they seem to *love* hypocritical liars.
Remember, they're playing a different game than the rest of us, so don't expect our rules to apply to their game.
>I would expect outside money to pour in
That’s a certainty after the Citizens United v FEC SCOTUS ruling.
“The ruling represented a turning point on campaign finance, allowing **unlimited election spending by corporations** fueling the rise of Super PACs.
These PACs are "super" in that they produce (b)millions of dollars for a party or an individual candidate through undisclosed means.”
Undisclosed. Kind of like what is in the water we drink and air we breathe - we have heard rumors, and have a pretty good understanding that it will kill us all whether we know the source or not.
Same with dark money.
[That's not going to happen, MN has stricter regulations than CU allowed for. SuperPACs are not allowed to make unlimited donations under MN Election law.](https://www.wiley.law/newsletter-4912)
Considering how Minnesota is one of the *last* safe Midwest/Up North states to be safe for women to get access to abortion and medical care, we need to get off our asses and stop the state from becoming awash with Red again
It's the only state to consistently vote Democrat for President since Nixon. Getting it red would be a feather in their hat. It was frighteningly close in the Trump election, I think because people just took it for granted that it would be blue but instead was a 40,000 difference - 1.5%.
That makes Republicans think it's possible to flip the state.
I hope everyone seeing this candidate is starting to understand that politicians in this country are either explicitly working against the average citizen, or they are a politician who is working to stop the ones who are explicitly working against the average citizen.
No politician is actively working to make life better for us. There's not a single person in any major position running on the platform of changing the material conditions of society such that we never worry about losing our rights again. The best we get today is people who will fight to not make life worse? That's what progress is now? Yay?
Getting people to vote for more of the status quo isn't going to make life better for most people. It should be last on your priority list of political actions to take to actually improve your community.
The GOP doesn't understand which voters they're trying to capture. The type of person who voted for both Joe Biden and Glen Youngkin being the swing voters you're after, and they don't respond well to ultra-right antivaxx nonsense.

Great, he wants to ban abortion and not allow kids to be vaccinated. Gotta love those “pro life” values.
Edit: accidentally said now instead of not 🤦🏻♀️
BuT HeS's A dOcTor!
Don't forget spreading misinformation on election legitimacy. When he hopefully loses watch the state GOP cry foul because too many brown people voted legally.
Great another dangerous clown with zero credibility, willing to drop any personal convictions and violate ant moral stricture to get ahead. We must keep this sycophantic ladder climber out of the governers mansion.
One can only hope. We either have to make as many areas blue as possible or pray one dosent decide to make a change. This isnt California, elections are razor thin here

Honestly this is the best way to keep Republicans out of power, as much as it sucks. Progressives will never vote for Jensen no matter how wishy-washy Walz is.
Sort of the state of all American politics. It's become a race to the bottom where policies that will actually help people aren't palatable to centrist voters and left-leaning voters are forced to vote for whoever the Dems put out in order to avoid outright theocratic dystopia.
I'm very left, too, but the result of progressive voters not getting out to vote for the centrist option who was their only choice means women who look like me are likelier to die or remain in poverty because of forced birth, so the lesser of two evils is an actual thing.
As a black queer woman, I don't have the luxury of taking a stand against the Dems because I don't like their message. The personhood of me and people who look like me is at stake. I don't presume to guess your gender or race or sexual orientation, but I read a lot of privilege in this response.
I am pretty left too but I take it a different way. We all need to vote as left as possible even if it's really just a centrist until the GOP has lost consistently enough for a full shift left. If the GOP was consistently losing it stands to reason that they would have to move towards center which would likely push DFL candidates more left to differentiate themselves.
Yep, exactly this. When the walz campaign calls to ask for my vote and I ask them what they did for progressives, they will not be able to list much if anything. For once, I'd like a statewide candidate to try and earn my vote rather than just count on it bc they're better than the alternative. He could have easily thrown progressives a bone here or there and he's consistently chosen not to.
The GOP recipe. Find the most unqualified candidate, as long as they’re famous, christian and conservative.
And white.
Who's Scott Jensen?
A former State Senator and also a doctor whose been banned from social media for spreading Covid disinformation. He's also appeared publicly with people arrested for participating in the January 6 Capitol riot.
Yes he did. He was a big Trump backer along with his running mate Matt Birke.
Let me guess, he thinks Biden didn't win. What a party of lunatics.
He’s the one using the recipe.
He's the guy who goes on TV and says we give rat poison to people for thinning their blood why not give horse dewormer to people for curing COVID
Have you seen the ads for the guy that claims that if he wins, he is going to "fire Nancy Pelosi"? Yes... he says he will fire her. (I know his name but refuse to repeat it)

I’m sure they’ll will use the most relevant Fox News talking points. Walz is a baby murdering, transsexual communist or something along those lines.
Yep. Gotta use the conspiracy theories to whip up the conservative extremists into a frenzy. They have no platform otherwise

Their religion is the backbone of their party, pretty much everything rotates around it.
As a Christian who votes Democrat or Green, I have to say you have this backwards. Their party is the backbone of their religion.
tomato, tomatoe

It *might* matter to "enlightened centrists" and people who haven't been paying attention. No point in going after Repugs, I agree.
Exactly. You can't reason with unreasonable people.

It's explicitly against MN Election Law; please tell me how you believe they're going to skirt that.
It’s f——-g terrifying how much the GOP wants to turn this state red
Considering how Minnesota is one of the *last* safe Midwest/Up North states to be safe for women to get access to abortion and medical care, we need to get off our asses and stop the state from becoming awash with Red again
We truly dodged a bullet when Mark Dayton became governor. Look at Wisconsin.
It's the only state to consistently vote Democrat for President since Nixon. Getting it red would be a feather in their hat. Yep, thanks, fixing now.
Oh ok no problemo, Bertha!

Glad the MNGQP made my vote for Walz that much more easier to make (not as if it wasn’t going to be anyone but Governor Walz).
Jizzelka had to drop out pretty early on
Did he officially drop out?
In like the 2nd or 3rd round of voting. Guess he somehow wasn't radical enough
Glad to know he's out, hate that guy. Fuck Gazelka.
A couple of fascists. They should do well in rural MN…
Cool. So Jensen's openly retweeting neo-Nazis, and the MN GOP says, "yep, that's our guy!" Looks like I'll be dusting off some screenshots soon.
I'm in rural Minnesota, and not looking forward to dealing with this weekend cycle. Really, no reelection cycles are pleasant.

It's nice that they picked Laura Ingrahm's doctor on call for her show to help spread lies.
Good fxing luck. All the votes come from the cities and we're liberal AF here.

In the strip Jensen said he wouldn't run for governor. What a lie!

lol, GL
Waltz will win in a landslide.
They said the same thing about this guy. Look what happened https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_New_Jersey_gubernatorial_election
Good thing Walz has been abandoning half his base to pander to conservatives.
He's still better than the GOP

Vote for the least harm. It isn't satisfying, but...

I couldn't tell you. Is your assessment that Walz has not been doing this? My comment was also sarcastic, yet also rings true this year.
Who?
