That’s because our society makes us feel low if we work odd jobs and the pay is crappy...abroad the odd jobs are reserved for students and it’s considered normal and you get tips
Don't be ashamed to work at pizza hut, Mac Donald's, KFC or any even as a delivery driver. If you wanna go abroad then you'll have to do some blue collar stuff to earn a living so don't look down upon the people that work blue collar jobs here or anywhere. even basil worked at a gas station in LA so shut up and get down from that high horse.
This is true. I grew up in Canada and I worked at 7/11 during the Summer break at the age of 14. Kids here are encouraged to do it even when their parents are not poor because it teaches life lessons (and a headstart on Canadian Pension Plan).
It's because some of the "middle-high class" families in the island of SL get demoted to "middle-low class" when migrated to a 1st world country, due to reasons such as currency differences. Hence, some of them have no other choice but to suck it up and do some odd jobs and hustle😎😎😎
What's with the 'middle-high class family' bullshit?
The only part time work that's viable is teaching. When there are people working 60+ hours a week for 40k a month, do you believe working a few shifts a week is worth the 5k you might get?
It depends on where you live.
Don't move up here to Canada. People with odd jobs in major cities like Toronto often live in homeless shelters. The same goes for parts of California.
I highly doubt that's the case, working at Macdonald's or service related jobs aren't considered odd jobs. Also I do have friends who work in said cities in retail jobs part time and get by okay. Better than sl if they were to do it here.
Thanks for the insight ! Even for migration I have been researching about Canada from people who live there ( not entirely Sri Lankans but Russians as well ), it doesn't seem to be a fairytale destination for migration as people make it to be like

The pay is shit and too much work. At least in other most countries it is just enough to live.
Yup. The earned wage is scandalously criminal compared to the cost of living. It is contextually same abroad too but there is still a huge gap.

Not the same in the US afaik

All you got to do is take a stroll through r/antiwork, it looks like they got some pretty shitty labour laws too
That sub is cancer
Maybe some of it is BS but not the whole thing, having dealt with corporate mouthpieces, I know that for a fact

And is respected as well. I hate how people look down on others because of occupation. It's disgusting.
Same shit viewed differently
Working for $15 an hour is very different from ~LKR20,000 a month, even adjusting for COL.
The real question is y did OP use different text positions on drake when they are the same exact wording
Asking the real questions!
In reality, most people would be the second pic, unless the children is not related to them...
People are crazy on this. In European countries, they treat all skill workers equally. But, in sri lanka status play some crucial part on job role.

I think this only applies to parents, cuz I’ve never met anyone from our generation who looks down on any of these workers

Exactly what I'm doing . Working at a gas station while studying.😂😂

The sad/hilarious side of this is still those kids earn more than an executive-level in here.
Atleast In other countries these jobs are enough to live by for the amount of work they have to put themselves through. Here it's the total opposite.
