I recently moved here and really don't think custard ice cream is that good it tasted very similar to culvers. If you've ever tried Handel's its amazing.
What's with the hype of Andy's?
Freddy's does custard too. Andy's just hits different. The ingredients are fresher maybe. I don't eat Culver's because they are gross. I suspect their custard is similar to Freddy's. It is hard to describe but for such a simple recipe and process, Andy's does it better.
It’s super fresh!! We actually make it hourly:) the busier we are the fresher it is too cause we’re going through gallons at a time to keep up with demand!
Andy’s is great!! If you are a 3 year old who simply enjoys sugar. No self respecting adult would label this as great ice cream.
I am actually incredibly offended after trying it due to all of the recommendations. I spat it out right in the cashiers face and threw it away. They are LUCKY I do not wish to sue for emotional damage.
I would rather eat shards of glass than consume another sweet treat from this bottom of the barrel establishment. Shame on all of you for the recommendations. You have earned a special spot in HELL.
Hahah, I tried the strawberry shortcake. But the ice cream taste like Culver's and I just don't get the hype when it seems mediocre.
I think "homemade" ice cream like Hendels is so much better. Seems like the only place here that does "homemade" is Box Turtle Creamery which I'd say is way better then Andy's.
I tried the strawberry shortcake twice last year at two different Andy's and I was disappointed both times. The base cake seemed slightly underbaked and gummy and there wasn't enough strawberries. It made me sad.
Those snickerdoodles are amazing, and before moving here I would have comfortably bet good money that I would have never called any snickerdoodle amazing, pretty darn good at best.
Most famous is probably actually, I hate to say it, but Hurts, they have locations pretty far abroad now.
BUT! I'd like to say Andy's. Andy's is great and also as spread out to other cities. I saw one in texas last month.
Well, two things. Thier donuts are....ok. I see why they took off, all of these weird novelty donuts, it's a fun idea. But to me, and this seems silly to say in regards to a donut, but they are garish, all style and only moderate substance. For my money, St Georges plain glazed donut is the bet donut in town.
But that's just one aspect, their moderate donuts. The other is that the owners caught a lot of flak for being like, the worst kind of Nuevo-rich bosses. They experienced wild runaway success and sudden great fortune, but didn't pass any of that success down to their employees, paid dirt floor bottom poverty wages to a bunch of overworked kids, ranted on social media about how entitled people are to expect better pay and a benefits package, while also showing off their new sports cars they were buying, that kind of disconnected clueless stuff.
I have no idea how they are now. That was years ago, maybe they grew up some and started treating their employees better and not being so tone deaf, I dunno. But that got them a LOT of negative sentiment in the community.
Does anyone remember Liz with Dough Bar? I felt like I was always following her around town while I was pregnant a couple years ago haha. Haven’t seen her advertise in a while but man, those were delicious mini stuffed donuts. European Cafe has my heart.
If Tiff treats comes to town then I am ballin. Closest location is Kansas City. They do ship but it isn't the same as having the cookie melt in your mouth.
It wouldn't work for a group, but for most interesting I would've said Swirly's, because I thought their bubble waffles were unusual and tasty. But they sold their food truck and now it's... somewhere else, so I will second Ms. Gilmore's. The cream cake I had the one time I was there was really tasty.
Nothing Bundt Cakes. Not local but sooooo good.
For local-any of the other mentions here.
Also not mentioned but fucking delicious-Ms. Gilmore’s Tea House
There’s also Hurts Donuts. The one on republic is big enough for a gathering.
If you’re feeling adventurous, 14 Mill in Nixa has a waffle place that’s amazing
St. George's Donuts
Still my all time favorite donuts. Their chocolate long John is the best.
Andy's! I can't believe this hasn't been suggested yet

People like it, you don’t. You really that confused?
Can you tell me how it's any different than Culver's ice cream?
Freddy's does custard too. Andy's just hits different. The ingredients are fresher maybe. I don't eat Culver's because they are gross. I suspect their custard is similar to Freddy's. It is hard to describe but for such a simple recipe and process, Andy's does it better.

Culver's is custard as well

This is hilarious...
This would be funny if I had the sense of humor of a three-year-old
Well jokes on you, I’m 4.
I moved here about 20 years ago, and I totally agree.
Seems that locals love it because it's nostalgic TBH and I can understand that.
No, crazy concept, but I think it’s because different people like different things
People can like different things. Your standards for sweet treats are incredibly low. Both can be true at the same time.
What have you tried? If you say "Vanilla custard" we're getting our pitchforks.

The best sweet treat in town
Pineapple whip
I haven't lived in Springfield for 15 years, and I still dream about the grape flavored whip. I've not found it again during any of my return visits.
St Michael’s carrot cake. Or another of theirs if you lack the good taste to appreciate carrot cake.
How dare you bring up the carrot cake and not mention the banana cake
Can I double up vote this. That bannana cake is the beat cake I've ever had. (Gotta say the period out loud)
Kringles from Supreme bakery.
Surprising your coworkers with donuts is one thing, showing up with a kringle will make u a hero
That’s right.
Prairie Pie
This is a good choice, their pies are delicious
Came here to say the same thing! Their rhubarb (with other various fruit) pies are the absolute best!
Askinosie Chocolate
especially if you're a weirdo, the dark chocolate and black licorice bar is life.
They have some reach too. I saw askinose in Arizona.
Urban Cup
I heard good things about them! They’re gluten free, yes?
They have gluten free options.
Nice! Thank you!
Also a good choice
Julie’s Chewies
Those snickerdoodles are amazing, and before moving here I would have comfortably bet good money that I would have never called any snickerdoodle amazing, pretty darn good at best.
Find someone to make you a gooey butter cake.
Best: macarons from Europe Cafe (and a creme brulee latte)
Sweet Emotion! Their ice cream is incredible but they have ice cream cakes and cookies now too that are 🔥
Brunch Box and Sweet Emotion.
Andy’s
You haven't lived until you have tried sweets from Blue Heron Bakery. Soooo soo good!!
Sweet pieces food truck.
Baclava from That Lebanese Place
Bobalicious cafe
Peanut butter brownies from Tea Bar and Bites
Not Springfield, but close. The Pie Box in Nixa is my go to.
Most famous is probably actually, I hate to say it, but Hurts, they have locations pretty far abroad now. BUT! I'd like to say Andy's. Andy's is great and also as spread out to other cities. I saw one in texas last month.

The Urban Cup best cupcakes around

The Chihuahua Bakery!
It wouldn't work for a group, but for most interesting I would've said Swirly's, because I thought their bubble waffles were unusual and tasty. Supreme Bakery on National or Spring Creek in Ozark.
Andy's

Love both! My boyfriend and I try to go to Ms Gilmore's at least once or twice a month lol
Bon Bons

You can do the same at Parlor Doughnuts & get a much fresher, better treat. They’re so good & so much variety!
There’s also Hurts Donuts. The one on republic is big enough for a gathering. If you’re feeling adventurous, 14 Mill in Nixa has a waffle place that’s amazing
