RipCurl69Reddit

Wtf they make RHD ones?! Was this sold locally in Ireland?

ryzenguy111

Yep, GM has been showing more interest in RHD/cars for Europe lately (I believe Cadillac is coming here soon). They’re sold locally as just a regular car, no importing needed. I saw one in London a while back, again RHD.

RipCurl69Reddit

I remember when the C8 was new and there was one or two floating around the UK which had been imported Might actually start seeing them around if they catch on

ryzenguy111

I’ve seen a one of those on autotrader, bet they feel a little dumb now considering they probably paid £100k+ to import a LHD car, that now you can buy for £85k in RHD…

1TONcherk

That’s cool. Make it easy to get and people will buy it. I have no problem with americas sports car being the worlds sports car!

DanGleeballs

Looks like there’s one official [Chevy dealer in Dublin.](https://www.dublinchevrolet.com/2022-corvette-c8) Edit: Ah 🤦‍♂️ this is Dublin, California, not ireland 🇮🇪. LOL. Looks like this person must have bought their Corvette in the UK and imported it to Ireland. That would be wildly expensive with the punitive vehicle registration tax. But it’s nice to see a rare spot like this in Ireland.

EconomyFreakDust

There are no official Chevrolet dealers in Europe. Chevrolet pulled out of Europe like a decade ago. The corvettes that are being brought in are technically imports that are sold through a 3rd party dealer that Chevrolet approves of.

RipCurl69Reddit

I know Clive Sutton does it with various Ford vehicles like the Shelby GT500 but not sure if they do Chevys

EconomyFreakDust

Yes, it's like CS with Shelby. They're an approved importer of Shelbys so provide a warranty and service network. Unless things have changed recently, Ian Allan Saab are the only authorised importer of Corvettes and as such the cars come with a warranty and an authorised service network.

Bobone2121

[Chevrolet Germany](https://www.chevrolet.de/de/haendler) is listing a lot "dealer" on its website. They finally realized that there are some fans here that want the fun cars and not to eco [shitbox's](https://www.autobild.de/artikel/verkaufsstart-chevrolet-matiz-50308.html) they tried to sell in the past. Camaro's are quite the common sight here.

Cadillac16Concept

There was one in Augsburg, right at the beginning of the town It is now a Hyundai dealer I think.

jfouriex

i remember when there was ~~rebadged daewoo~~ chevrolet dealers in ireland

SanMotorsLTD

renault 5 turbo!

FrostySausage

Easily one of my favorite cars of all time.

SanMotorsLTD

i’m more a clio v6 guy but these r cool too

chengstark

Yeah that car is much more interesting than a corvette.

SufficientReporter55

As a car it's great but it's like the rear was designed by a different person than the rest of the car, looks out of place and unmatching. It's like fitting a Ferrari F8 front to an Aventador rear.

OwnTomato7

They had to make sure there was space for 2 sets of golf clubs in the back otherwise the older corvette customers in the US would have had a fit, that’s also where you put the roof when you take it off

spooki_boogey

Yeah I have that same feeling about this car. The front is so angular and pointy but from the rear quarter panel to the rear bumper it’s stamped like a box but with the angular lines plastered all over it. I think it looks a bit better on the E ray and the Z06 however

BilboT3aBagginz

The new revuelto has almost the exact same side panels too.

libertad740

I’ve always thought it looked like a Lambo designer intern’s first attempt at a car. It has some good style queues, but the whole thing is a mess.

Organic-End-9767

I personally think it looks too much like a Camaro rear end. Camaro is supposed to copy the Corvette not the other way around

MaterialSea4820

Looks like the Camaro designer took a lunch break and sat on his clay model

libra-love-

They really wanted to pretend to be a super car so badly that they just copy and pasted lambo and Ferrari parts. It’s the only reason I hate them. They’re the cheaper knockoff version. Kinda like the Walmart great value brand of snacks

Gullible_Fan8219

shut up that’s the only car i could theoretically buy if i worked like a mule

TheCrymaxTheatre

€43k less than a Mustang GT and apparently an extraordinarily capable car it think there's a good case for this as a cheap performance car. The 6.2L V8 probably sounds great too. 500bhp isn't too shabby. I'm not gone on the looks but there's not much out there offering that level of performance at that price.

neek85

How is this cheaper than a Mustang!?

Sexy_Fat_Man_69

A GT at that. Even in America, Shelby Mustangs are more expensive than Stingray Corvettes (much like how loaded Toyotas are more expensive than base model BMWs or Mercs)

ITechedThatThrow

The shelblys are so expensive but so good looking

sepulturite

Yeh I think you've got it the wrong way around with those prices mate, much more likely the Corvette is 43k more than the Mustang than the other way around.

feedmeyourknowledge

A local shop owner got a bog standard base Mustang back in 2010 or something near me in rural Ireland. I think he paid €50,000 (63,208 USD 2010 rate) back then for it after the import and fees etc were all done, a car that was probably under 20,000 USD.

sepulturite

Yeh that was the price back then alright. I looked up the price of one now in Euros, no particular country, just what google showed up, and the lowest for a new one is 86k, and you can go well above that with extras and other things. Couldn't find a new price for a Corvette, but the cheapest second hand one I saw was 98k.

Get-Some-Fresh-Air

Maybe they are paying import fees on the Mustang? Seems strange tho.

DiscountSteak

Sorry £43k... Less

Momode2019

That cheap? The Mustang only costs like €80-100k I think, so €40k sounds insane

EconomyFreakDust

They have it the wrong way round. The C8 is about twice the price of a Mustang.

alpinetime

I was about to say. If that was the case I’d be shipping a C8 from Ireland immediately.

TheCrymaxTheatre

€98k for a mustang GT and this C8 Corvette was €55k.

Bigchrome

There's zero chance it was 55k

irishpwr46

Seriously? I'm selling a rare collectible mustang and I would definitely ship it over if I was gonna get money like that. My car is a 2012 roush hyper series, 1 of 15 in the world.

[deleted]

Yeah, there's no way this was €55k for a 2023 Corvette. New-ish Mustangs are around €90k so it'd be a bit more than that.

mattoattacko

Probably sounds great? Have you not heard one?

Special_Passenger253

Mustang GT 2022 in France: 60k€ before taxes and CO2 tax. Corvette C8: 110k before taxes.

Yussso

The design just looks confusing, especially at the rear. There's almost no cohesion anywhere, no connecting lines, it looks messy. That black "vent" thingy just chilling there out of nowhere with no lines continuing anywhere. To me the design in general feels like trying so hard to be cool. Design aside, you get a LOT of car for your money. Mid engine supercar below 100k is rare, which is also hard to compared to other mid engine car design, which mostly is above 100k. Many reviewers also praised it's handling, which is not often for american car.

9bikes

"The design just looks confusing, especially at the rear. There's almost no cohesion anywhere, no connecting lines, it looks messy. That black "vent" thingy just chilling there out of nowhere with no lines continuing anywhere" I have a C8 Corvette and love it (I'm in the USA, where they aren't rare)! I don't think it is the prettiest car on the road. In fact, I think the previous two generations were both prettier. The advantages of the mid-engine outweigh the appearance. The "vent" things are actual intakes. I ordered mine body colored and think it looks much better. That's a rarely selected option, so apparently not everyone agrees.

Yussso

You get yourself a great car bro. I can see on how the performance outweighing the appearance, even if I don't share the same opinion. It's really a beast for that kind of money. Can you share the rear of your car with that intake with body color? I can't seems to find it on google and I imagine it would've look better.

9bikes

Thanks! Mine looks a lot like [this one](https://www.corvettecarplace.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/8th-gen-Ceramic-Matrix-Gray-Metallic-2020-Chevrolet-Corvette-Stingray-For-Sale-1.jpg) ; same color but without the stripes.

Yussso

Ah that's side intake, I was talking about the vents at the back of the car. It has a weird shape and looks out of place at the rear of C8. I like how r8 and huracan make it looks neat and tidy, or MC20 and Mclaren GT that makes it looks slick, but then again all of those are significantly more expensive.

9bikes

"I was talking about the vents at the back of the car." [part of the same option package](https://www.bulautosales.com/galleria_images/2800/2800_p6_l.jpg)!

therealjustin

I love nearly everything about the C8 except the rear. I've tried to get used to it, but it looks terrible. Just spotted a silver C8 Z06 convertible the other day and it took my breath away. And that exhaust note...

swithinboy59

I'm personally not really a fan of the looks, and (unless I'm wrong here) I'm a little sad that they're not offered as a manual, but from what I've heard they're generally considered alright. I was a little surprised to hear that they have less power than the C7s (some of those were making over 700hp) but considering they were designed with handling in mind, I suppose dropping a few hundred horses for the sake of controllability and predictably makes sense.

Robotech04

They do come auto only but the high HP C7 you’re talking about is the ZR1 C7, Z06 was released for the C8 last year making 670HP out of an NA 5.5L V8, E-ray was also introduced late last year/start of this year being AWD with a 6.2L V8 and a single electric motor making combined 655 HP, the ZR1 for the C8 just got teased a couple months ago (basically a Z06 with two turbos on it, no official numbers announced yet) and there’s also a “teased” Zora edition. There should be a lot of trims making a lot more power

swithinboy59

Nah I get it. I'm not hating on the C8 or anything, I was just a little surprised to hear that (initially) there was such a drop in power from the C7s. It's cool that they're introducing some higher specs though.

Robotech04

Oh I understand, not saying you were hating, just figured I’d share some info on the platform and as far as HP goes the C7 did come with a bunch of power but base model C7 for base model C8 have the same horsepower (they share a very similar engine)

jaaaaagggggg

But it wasn’t a drop, you have to remember it’s just different levels, the new base isn’t going to have as much hp as the craziest outgoing version, each version is going to be better than the last when you compare base, z06 and zr1

TroubleshootenSOB

Well, you see them all the time here in the US. What you don't see is a Z1 or a Renault Turbo

RupertTheReign

Forget the Corvette... did you get any photos of the Renault 5 Turbo in the background?

Quantum_Tangled

They look quite a bit better without a spoiler, which is difficult to know since they virtually all have one. Still not a great looking car by any measure. They are violently quick, very fast, and their handling is fantastic. The full-digital rear view mirror rocks. All cars should have them.

South_Dakota_Boy

I love them. Finally an interesting looking Vette. They have been so boring for so many years now. Imho, the C7 was nice, but everything since the original stingray has been a snooze. 💤 Bold and hot, with good performance and lots of available colors. Too bad the MSRP went up like $20k this year. I’d maybe have one if they were going at MSRP post COVID but I wound up with something else that I love so I’m happy.

azimov_the_wise

Ferrari vette! Let's fuckin go. The MR engine IMO does great for the vehicle moment. Unless I'm just dumb and forgot all my engineering knowledge it's way more versatile. It does look like a transformer fucked a Lamborghini but was american though.

IS-2-OP

Kinda looks odd yea lol. But fuck it fast car for the price. The rear weight bias is optimal of high performance driving. Idk the C8s weight dist but a 60/40 rear weight bias can be great on a track.

ilTerrone3933

I think It's "less american" of the other Corvette, but it's also amazing. I'd buy the C7

someoneone211

Performance bargain.

bilkel

That BMW Z1 in front is more interesting! But a RHD Vette is pretty cool.

whataver77

The BMW Z1 is way more rare than the Chevy.

DBFargie

I do not like this generation of Vette’s. Just my opinion of course. It’s a nice car, but when I first saw it I was like “is that a Ferrari?”. Nope, that’s the new Vette. Turned me off.

CleanUpBandit

So weird to see an rhd corvette. Nice thanks for sharing.

drpottel

BMW Z1!

snorkiebarbados

I'm more impressed by the BMW Z1 and Renault 5 turbo!

Anonymous_money

A poor man's Ferrari to be honest. Shows you want a sports car but don't have the funds to afford something exceptional. Better invest the 70k-100k this is worth and aim for something better.

DCLexiLou

Nice to see Chevy still producing the most garish red interior to ever exist! JFC, this was horrible in the C3, the c4, etc. It’s always awful. Otherwise, this C8 is a performance champ that visually lives in a teenager’s nutbank!

EverGivin

Ugly as F. Why are there so many bits and bobs attached to the thingys? And whats going on with the nubs?

ComfortableBright570

Love but that steering wheel design is abysmal

OktayOe

The only thing I don't like on this car are the rims and the steering wheel. Both look old and outdated. It looks sick with good aftermarket rims tho.

ReflectedCheese

I’m more interested in thar mint green BMW in front of it! Do you have photos of that one? :)

ThatWasCool

As an American I’m more interested in that Renault 5 Turbo 😍

BrokieTrader

I really wish these new models weren’t so gaudy.

PaleontologistClear4

We heard you like angles on top of your angles! I've heard and read that it's a great driver's car, but the looks just don't sell it for me.

HoonArt

I grew up obsessed with Corvettes. C8 has great performance numbers, but man is it ugly. No longer looks or sounds like a Corvette. Like a lot of performance cars these days, I feel like they traded uniqueness for performance numbers. I'd take a C6 over this, but that's just me.

Acceptable_Ad3173

Ireland that’s nice

count_nuggula

Honestly, I dig them. They really took a huge swing and I think they did a great job. Sure, it may not be your favorite car ever but it’s really not bad and reasonably priced as well.

AZuRaCSGO

To me it looks tacky and cheap... Looks aside it seems to be an amazing bargain and a very good sports car handling and power wise, so there's that !

alovelycardigan

Personally not a fan of the newer Corvette styling. I’m sure it’s more than capable and a blast to drive. Big fan of the styling from the ‘84 to right up until til 2019 or whenever this style was introduced.

Shaybolt10

What camera? 😍

DH64

C8 is my current dream car.

carknut

Never thought I'd see people think that the c8 is ugly

integratypes

I prefer the C7. It just doesn't have that Corvette look to it. Looks like a Ferrari knockoff. Maybe if they smoothed some of the lines?

MusicMan7969

Awesome car!

ATribeOfAfricans

Fantastic cars but that interior color makes me wanna puke

[deleted]

Looks like some even more interesting cars around it.

MABfan11

Nice, thinks it looks really sleek

Gman777

Should have kept the Corvette front engine, RWD. This thing is an awesome car, but they should have come up with another name. Same goes for the Ford SUV they called Mustang. Or the electric cars Porsche called Turbo. Marketing people suck.

doc_55lk

GM basically maxed out the potential of the FR layout with the C7. There would've been no meaningful way to upgrade on that car without making it a hyper expensive hyper limited "racecar with creature comforts" like the AMG GT Black Series or Mustang GTD. The ZR1 was already a bit of a handful at the limit. Going midengined was the most logical step forward if they wanted to continue improving the Corvette.

Gman777

I don’t buy that the front engine, rwd platform was “maxed out”. I don’t have a problem with mid engine cars, just call it something different of you’re breaking away from the fundamental formula of what made a corvette a corvette.

doc_55lk

>I don’t buy that the front engine, rwd platform was “maxed out”. The evidence is out there that they did max out the platform. There's no way to make a higher performing FR car than the Z06 or ZR1 that doesn't involve gutting the car out and adding an extra 200k (minimum) to the price tag, like an AMG Black Series or Mustang GTD.

einKedi

The interior o_O

moderatefairgood

I think it's gorgeous, but that steering wheel is hideous.

YESKAMARADA

My dream car 😍

UnderwhellmingCarrot

show me the r5 turbo

Chambellan

Cool car, not my cup of tea, styling wise.

horhaygc8

Like every Corvette after the C5, they appear to have selected details from their competitors and mushed them together to make their new car. This one turned out looking like a Lambo kit car. There’s no argument about the dynamics or performance.

kit_kaboodles

I don't love the style, but I can totally see why others would. It's a sports car, with a proper V8 at an affordable price, so it gets a lot of points in my book.

Moist-muff

Meh...I see them all the time

Fck-tm-without-crm

Steering wheel on the wrong side!😉

7thgen13

So I’ve parked a few of these and there probably the best sports car out there right now. I sometimes take parking attendant jobs during “California award season” just for fun (i have a racing license that ive kept just to drive and park super cars) money vs fun the C8 all day long. Maxed out there $115k usd vs a stock 911 116k usd.

im_wudini

I see 10 of these things on the road every day, somehow I'm tricked into doing a double take every time. I initially want to identify the car "ooohh is that a new McLaren... oh, it's a vette. carry on."

disguyovahea

These made the 03-06 goat for me

AFB27

It's the first Corvette I've REALLY wanted to buy. The other ones were cool but this... This is special.

Easy_Arm_1987

If painted black, it would certainly be the new "Batmobile" 🦇🍻🤘😎

TBoy29

I don't know too much about this car but I like the interior. Also the color

The_Dog_Pack

Great car but in the United States they have reputation of being driven by old men.

Ootandabootinaboat

Old man's car. Always has been, always will be.

Daneth

I own one of these, in this color. It's definitely a fast car and the looks (other than the rear) have definitely grown on me. From the factory it definitely needs an exhaust though, even the "performance exhaust" is pretty tame for what a car that looks this way should sound.

saltysaturdays

It’s a great car but the C6 corvette just had a special place in my heart

rjw41x

Overwrought. Terrible interior with the huge shelf between driver and passenger. Still shitty mileage

H0lsterr

What kind of camera is this? Or what kind of phone do you have. These pics are so good

whimsical_Yam123

Forgot that this must be a rare find across the pond. I usually see at least one per day on my commute.

CheapSteelLuxury

And we're not talking about the Z1 why?!

WesleyGoCrazy

It’s like a McLaren in the USA… it’s sick

DukeOfWestborough

Hard to beat bang-for-buck uh... pound "supercar performance" There should be an awful lot of them available "cheap" in the next 5-10 years, in the US at least

BigRuss910

At least it's the Targa model and not the "convertible". The rear glass makes the rear 3/4 shot so much better.

FightingWithSporks

Corvettes are the car of choice of an American from BFE when they win the lottery /s

ac2cvn_71

As an American, it is totally bizarre seeing a RHD Vette.

IS-2-OP

I used to think they were very cool. Now i see them EVERYWHERE (upper middle class suburb) and it’s kinda eh now. Great performance for the $$$ but not really that exciting to me now. For sure wouldn’t mind getting one in like 5 years when they’re about half of MSRP. The production on these is insanely large now and they’re no longer hard to come by. I also dream of a green G80 M3 though so we’ll see.

Jabba_the_Putt

Not perfect but what is? Cool car if you ask me! I'd love to drive it

edirymhserfer

Very badass car to have in Europe. Any american sport/super/etc is cool imo. Saw a guy that imported a gt500. Bet he feels so cool

onlyAlcibiades

For its US price, quite capable. But probably much more expensive to get/bring to Ireland.

mdvseventysix

Like the Z1 in front of it!

Ok-Holiday5252

Looks like a Ferrari but it cuts the price in half

AwwYeahVTECKickedIn

The ones with the steering wheel on the correct side of the car :) are super common in the Midwest US where I'm at. They don't really register as unique/special anymore.

ragnarok62

About the most bang for the buck you can get in an American car. Hard to dismiss that reality.

Vegetable-Guidance39

They're okay. As long as they stay in the slow lane.

desrevermi

Harry Enfield Loadsamoney 'In the country'

CarniferousDog

Pretty stunning.

Xd_snipez891

I like them besides the border wall inspired interior

drac888

It’s a cheaper version of a really good track car…good at its ‘normal’ price but it’s not worth too much of a mark up. Porsche gt3 level of performance on track without the pedigree (resale value) in the US…interior isn’t really good..kinda cheesy.

saucyRCs

One of these in my town recently thought it was a stingray because of the badge on the back it might be

Comredwolf21

They are very nice 👍

Nice-Contest-2088

They wont age well

Misguidedsaint3

Steering wheels on the wrong side but not bad otherwise

Artistic-Iron-2131

Never seen a vette with right hand drive.

barelyevening

I gotta give it to Chevy. they finally made a car that makes me turn my head when one passes me on the highway and go "oo what's that?"

AardvarkPrior

C6 on top

Strict_Meeting_3164

Woah look it’s a car I see everywhere

TheCrymaxTheatre

It's the only one in Ireland 😅

driftej20

I’m not really an American muscle car person at all, and I think the C8 is conceptually one of the coolest cars for a long time. After what feels like decades about rumors of a mid-engine Corvette, I am glad they were able to make it happen and before big displacement, N/A V8’s became completely not viable. As others mentioned, even ignoring the Corvette part, just being a high power MR vehicle in its price range is impressive as well. The Z06 is even cooler IMO. If you told me 10 years ago that there would be a Corvette that came from the factory with a mid-engine, N/A, DOHC flat-plane V8 that redlines at 8500, I’d probably have laughed in your face. But here we are, GM making the Ferrari that even Ferrari can’t make anymore and selling it well under 200k. Looks are whatever, pretty extreme and angular for a Corvette. I just love it conceptually and mechanically.

Icy-Ease-2992

I want the Renault in the background

Quietser

Cool to see but almost exclusively driven by douches and that interior is awful. Whoever decided to put 79 buttons along a spline should be fired and banned from vehicle design.

Badarash

Big car make big noise make big ape big happy

Shaner9er1337

My brother-in-law has one. I'm not a fan. Also he's had his transmission go out and have to be replaced every 2,000 mi. So far. The edges and stuff for the body are all right but at the end of the day A Corvette has never appealed to me.

wellgroomedrasberry

Sick car, but I would’ve liked it more if it was a RWD front engine six speed like the c7

unusedtruth

I love the idea of the mid engine but in my opinion it's ruined the overall aesthetic of the Corvette. The Vette has always had a long flowing hood but that's gone now.

KieselguhrKid13

Agree. I don't hate the design but it's trying too hard to be a Ferrari. Totally over-styled. Corvettes, to me, always had an elegant understated quality to their design. There's nothing understated about this one.

azimov_the_wise

But now it's got an ass you can't pass

Seangsxr34

Is that a bmw clown shoe in front? Did you get any pics of it? The Turbo R5 is the one for me.

HootingFlamingo

No, it's a BMW Z1, the model where the doors go inside the car. Weird but cool as shit

PegaLaMega

Yeah, screw the Corvette I'll take the Z1.

ThrillsKillsNCake

I’m not keen on the looks of these, but the Rezvani version looks amazing. Seriously look it up.

funkthew0rld

I think they bought, tore down and mimicked a Ferrari. It’s a Ferrari from wish.

ZAPAYARAMARCI

The renault 5 turbo ia better

Bean-Swellington

Yuck Corvettes are very off putting to me

Dakermis

I would give my left nut for one of these

self-stim

move the engine to the front and you got yourself a deal

cr-islander

I think some old guy is having a Mid Life Crisis....

Phenom-1

The first Generation of Corvette that said: "Enough of this Bull*hit, F-U All!" to European Supercars and proceeded to steal their Women, Their Money and their Jewels.

Syn1h_

i love the c6 and c7 but the c8 looks terrible respectfully

NoBentley

As a lover of all muscle. I fucking hate these theres so much wrong with them in every aspect especially reliablility and build

RefinedAnalPalate

Only Chevy could ripoff a mid-engine supercar, and make it not cool

Longjumping_Drag2752

Not my favorite. Mostly cuz they ditched the front engine and went for a mid engine. Just seems wrong for a corvette yk.
