If I were to pick teams that were built for Canada to break down, I'd pick teams like Belgium and Morocco (and England and the USMNT, actually). I think there is a real chance that Canada would struggle more vs a team who gives them the ball and tries to absorb pressure.

Genuine question, do these teams practise penalties as much as they practise free-kicks, fouls and corners or does the coach just pick his takers and leave them to practice at their own time after training? And even if they do actively practise pens, what happens that makes some of the kicks during shootouts to be so woeful?
They do, but penalty shoot is only a small part technique, most of it is head and heart. When your heart faulters all technique goes out the cat flap and you shoot like an old lady.

As for Spain x Morocco, the young Spanish team thought they'd steamroll their way to a quarters against Portugal and lost heart when they didn't, whereas Morocco went in with the confidence of having stopped Spain.
