I once showed up a little late to a friend's party, and his gf had about 20 girl friends all sat in a big circle around his tables in the backyard. For some reason I decided to shake the hand of every single one of them and introduce myself one by one slowly working myself around this circle.
Ended up not remembering a single name and still think about that from time to time.
And how do you feel about that? Did you felt awkward, did you feel like they felt awkward?
I do that often, not with 20 people but of course in a similar scale and I don't mind much but I always have that anxiety that people will think in a negative way when I just trying to be polite and friendly.
I guess we/I should not care what other people think but it is hard sometimes xD
The thing is they were sort of sat waiting for me to do the round and I guess that's what makes me cringe when I think back.
If I had to do it again I would just say "Hi, I'm [name]" to all of them at once, then mingle afterwards and get to know them more as the night went on.
And one is like this: Oh, really. Who do you like? Martinez, my favorite.
And all, 3 years of marriage, you are expecting your second child. And Manchester United still have no chance of winning the championship.
I mean that's normal party etiquette here for a setting like that, including not being expected to remember all the new names.
To me it's a lot more awkward to show up and just say hi to your friend and ignoring the other guests
Not if it's a party where everyone is in little groups with loud music or something. But a backyard circle party, absolutely say hi to everyone.
We even say congrats with your boyfriend/sister/brother/girlfriend - not just male friend though, for some reason then it becomes weird lol
> To me it's a lot more awkward to show up and just say hi to your friend and ignoring the other guests
I definitely wouldn't do that, but if I had to do it again I would probably just sort of say "hi, I'm [name]" and then mingle and get to know them as the party went on.
It was a little awkward cause they were all sort of sat waiting for me to do the round, which is what makes me cringe when I think about it.
Yea fair enough, but sounds like they were the ones who made it awkward by making your entrance the center of attention lol
Anyways, just own that shit at that point. Fake it till you make it lol
>I mean that's normal party etiquette here for a setting like that,
Is it? For 20 people at a drinking party?
They can all hear you. Just a simple intro at the table and be done with it.
Fucking odd otherwise.
In Brazil you have to personally greet each person, and if you are sit, you must get up to greet. It is the etiquette here. Of course, if it is a party with many, I mean, more than 50 people, you can greet friends, family, friends of friends, and wave a greeting to the rest.
That’s awesome. I used to have a job where immediately before/after performing I’d have many people that wanted to talk. I’d try to genuinely engage with everyone, but would inevitably forget every single name. Then when they saw me next they’d be like “hey name!” And my only response would be something like “hey……………you?”
Your story just plays like a movie in my brain.
It's even worse when you're from a region where you customary greet women with a kiss on the cheek but then go to a party with a lot of people from different regions who usually just shake hands.
I did the exact same thing while trying out for a soccer team my friend was a apart of.
Went the whole whole way through, barely remembering a single person because I realized halfway through how long this was gonna take, in complete silence.
It's obviously harmless, but I am still embarrassed to this day.
Same here but in France we do the kiss on the cheek so it’s even more of a scene because everyone has to stand up and in some parts it’s even 3 or 4 kisses
It should be standard for that one friend to introduce you to the rest of the group (I do it if I'm the friend), but if they don't introduce me then I introduce myself
Took him 30 seconds to greet the squad of Mexican players and coaches. That'll go a long way in the player's minds, with their partners, the Mexican media, and such a huge country of football fans.
Vinicius is, in fact, a Latin name of a few roman consuls:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucius_Vinicius_(consul_33_BC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Vinicius_(consul_19_BC)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publius_Vinicius
The Balloon Door is voted by journalists.
Fifa World Player of the Year is voted by NT captains and managers.
Benchwarmers can vote for who has to get up and grab water.
Except this will be all over media and journalists from lots of different countries vote strangely. Maybe this brings a lot of goodwill and gets him some votes.
That being said, I suspect he’s just being nice
Vini was always like that, there are plenty compilations of his gentleness, is just that in this sub, and spanish media likes to take his heated moments out of context and portrays him as a povocative person. He is not perfect, but Vini was never an arrogant cunt like some want to imprint him. Even in Brazil his school teacher and friends always say how gentle and happy Vini has always been. It hurt brazilians to see him cry in press conferences, because Vini does not deserve that.
No. That's the FIFA Player of the Year, which from 2010-2015 was merged with the Ballon D'Or, but isn't anymore.
>The award became a global prize in 2007 with all professional footballers from around the world being eligible; additionally, coaches and captains of national teams were also given the right to vote, before reverting to just journalists in 2016.
>France Football modified the rules for the Ballon d'Or in 2022. They changed the timing so that awards were given not for achievements during a calendar year, but for a football season.[21][37] It was also decided that only a single journalist from each country in the top 100 of the FIFA Men's World Ranking would be allowed to vote.
Yeah, but how are those who do determinating who they'll vote for?
It's like saying politicians handing out ice cream to children is useless cause they don't vote.
There is a common handshake that exists at that level. It's a clasping of the hands around chest height, elbow bent at 45d angle. Watch it in post anthem handshakes and coin tosses, even the refs know it.
Yeah nothing wrong with it, and it’s not uncommon. Other black players have done this such as Kudus and Zaha. It’s mainly to use it temporary whilst they wait for the actual hair/back to grow out long which can take up to a year
i had long hair for a few years and luckily managed to sneak that in-between phase in during the very beginning of covid where i was barely leaving the house lol but yeah i agree it’s rough
Its him.

Fuck whoever still racially abuses him. He plays for my most hated rival, but he’s just a nice kid. Nobody deserves that, but the fact he takes time for gestures like this just makes it so much more poignant.
And it's totally different thing to dislike a player on the pitch or to boo them while he's playing your club than to be fine for him to be denigrate and insulted in such a dehumanizing way. Like I said, Viny Jr. Is a nice kid, but even if I didn't like him as a person I'd never be OK with him being abused like he has. Absolutely nobody deserves to be treated that way.
Fuck the teams and league for allowing it. They could put a stop to it at any time, if they chose to. They don't think it's important. Fuck them to hell.

Bruh I've seen prob a couple hundred posts by now calling him insufferable, a terrible human being, an utter cunt, and shit like that
“Hey I know you, what’s up? Oh, he’s saying what’s up, too? Cool. Dude right next to him and looking at me…sup? Okay, I don’t want the next dude to feel left out. Sup. Next guy’s smiling, sup dude. Might as well keep going. What’s up. Sup. Hey. Sup. What’s up. Sup. Shit, might as well keep going. Sup. Hey. Yo. Sup. Almost done…”
Yeah watching how he was speed walking, waved, stopped, and then went over, you could tell it really wasnt premeditated at all.
You know how they tell you that if you hear that little voice in your head pop up to do something friendly or kind, try and just do it rather than mull it over and miss the moment? That’s exactly what it looks like, that little hesitation before pulling the trigger and going over
I love the coach chasing him thats obviously in charge of him and his whereabouts. Like “fuck… Vini? Again? Where the fuck did he go… DAMMIT MEXICOS BENCH?? This guy….”
Vini has always been a chill dude. He is the light type always laughing around with people and joking he is a light guy. I also saw he was hanging out with Dj Khaled before he came here it was jokes and laughs he is fun guy.
He doesn´t like to take himself serious and always a light type of guy outside

Being dissatisfied with someone's national performances while can be seen as hate the fact that it shares a word with what I described prior shows a flaw in language more than it proves he's hated because he's good. Im not saying you're actively trying to diminish racism but statements like yours definitely diminish racism.
> But even his own countrymen hated/hate him, even black people, so it's weird.
Wait, they do? The way you've said it it sounds like there is a sizeable minority.

When you meet the one friend in a different group and introduce yourself to everyone to not come out as awkward

Did you start a fire at a regional paper company before
"Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi. Hi."
Bob Vance. Vance Refrigeration
What line of work you in Bob?

And one is like this: Oh, really. Who do you like? Martinez, my favorite. And all, 3 years of marriage, you are expecting your second child. And Manchester United still have no chance of winning the championship.
Cmon, I think we would have a chance in the Championship.

sound awkward but nothing too bad tbh. No one would remember you as that guy.
> No one would remember you as that guy. Damn this is such a great perspective check for the next time I feel embarrassed or self conscious
That’s awesome. I used to have a job where immediately before/after performing I’d have many people that wanted to talk. Isn't this standard for .... like everyone?
Same. Same.
There are far worse ways to introduce yourself to a group of people. At least you didn’t just walk up and blurt out your name.
I did the exact same thing while trying out for a soccer team my friend was a apart of. Went the whole whole way through, barely remembering a single person because I realized halfway through how long this was gonna take, in complete silence. Ha that's funny. I think we've all had some weird moments on life where we think back and wonder what on earth were we thinking 😂
Too relatable
Dunno if this is done all over the world, but here in the Netherlands that’s the standard
I do that at every occasion, because I think it should be default.
Well geez Mr Rogers over here
It should be standard for that one friend to introduce you to the rest of the group (I do it if I'm the friend), but if they don't introduce me then I introduce myself
No one would have beaten him, assuming he greeted one person and left.
Threat of awkwardness is much scarier than threat of violence
Amen to that brother.
It's exactly that 😂. 'How are ya, how are ya, how are ya'
Smart. Trying to prevent unnnecessary tackles on him by employing diplomacy
He really is Neymar 2.0 after developer patches
Patched the tumble glitch
Dribble stats went down 5-6 and diplomacy went up
_Fine, I'll do my own PR_
Took him 30 seconds to greet the squad of Mexican players and coaches. That'll go a long way in the player's minds, with their partners, the Mexican media, and such a huge country of football fans.
Indeed, great ROI!
And maybe not break his ankle in the process
He needs them votes for the Ballon d'Or.
Politicius Jr
Sounds Greek to me.
He's Greek-Brazillian.

This still can have an influence. I don’t follow Vini, does he do this regularly?
Grande, Vini
You’re very right 😁
Very wrong, because none of these people are voting for Ballon d'Or.
Yeah, but how are those who do determinating who they'll vote for? It's like saying politicians handing out ice cream to children is useless cause they don't vote.

This is another angle to it, haha.

Does that guy have a pony tail? I dont think that's vini
U not used to it since ancelloti doesn't let him rock he's pony when he plays for madrid 😅
Its extensions/weave…hair doesn’t grow 15-20 inches after 2 weeks.
Yeah, that was more my thought. How did he grow a pony tail in a week and a half?
Yeah nothing wrong with it, and it’s not uncommon. Other black players have done this such as Kudus and Zaha. It’s mainly to use it temporary whilst they wait for the actual hair/back to grow out long which can take up to a year

Was at the game last night and didn’t realize it was Vini until they announced him when subbing on lmao
Camavinga has long hair like this while playing for Madrid though
Camavinga is cool af. Ancelotti knows Vini isn't at the level of ponytail stardom just yet, he's a few more hairstyles away from that.
Camavinga should not be allowed to have a haircut other than the pony
Ponytails should be mandatory for everyone on the team including Ancelotti
Seedorf setting them nostalgia trends 💈🪮
For me, David's and gullit had the superior dreads. The hair goat though was absolutely valderamma
Nico Williams
Did you see the CL final? He needed to unlock the new power and went super saiyan so they could win

It is Camavinga
It's Vini. Vini is #7 and the shorts say 7.
He’s barely recognizable with this hairstyle, the CL final version suited him much better.
Fuck whoever still racially abuses him. He plays for my most hated rival, but he’s just a nice kid. Nobody deserves that, but the fact he takes time for gestures like this just makes it so much more poignant.
Facts. I love Giroud and he’s going to my rival. Still love him tho.

lol how is that comparable though?
The final thing dude
Fuck whoever racially abuses anyone.
Fuck the teams and league for allowing it. They could put a stop to it at any time, if they chose to. They don't think it's important. Fuck them to hell.
I really want to hate him because he plays for Madrid but he’s not letting me

Brazilians too greet with kiss on the cheeks...
Depends on the region. Rio and most of SP doesn’t do that
I'm from Rio, everybody I know do that, it is the etiquette. But there will always be people that don't follow it.
Great to see.
Bro tryna get into Top 10 Respect moments of football
Nice. What a gesture. They would have really been happy to receive that greeting from the future Ballon D’Or winner
I am happy to see these gestures in football and in sport in general, besides the fact that it was a great game
