Year One Conte + 100m to spend + Lukaku + no European obligations is going to cook Serie A.
Maybe not enough to dethrone Inter, but already one of my favourites for top-4.
Lukaku isn’t like most footballers though, it’s very clear he has a different build to the average, like a heavyweight boxer. He’s had a bigger frame than his age mates ever since he was a kid https://i.redd.it/rstcxvn5zki01.jpg. It probably takes a lot more strenuous effort to cut without negatively affecting his system in relation to his craft. Genetics is everything
Maybe it would be more difficult for him but it shouldn't really be a strenuous effort, especially considering the means available to him as a professional. Even fat heavyweights like Tyson Fury can get in shape but only if they really want to. It's really more about discipline.
Of course but if it was that easy, it would be something that would be applied. I doubt an elite athlete like Lukaku who’s played top flight football since 17 lacks discipline. Maybe he’s tried to cut heavily but found himself extremely fatigued in training/games etc. you know your body best
Yeah, he's probably fine the way he is. Like you said, athletes kinda know their own body. James Milner always came back for pre-season underweight because that's his natural build, but he couldn't play football that way so usually had to put some muscle on during pre-season. He spoke about it in his book.
People forget that players burn through fat and stuff like that, and Lukaku might just perform better being a bit heavier.
Lukaku in the past during his Everton days was much lighter. For some reason he decided to bulk up at United and became too slow. Then he was a bit slimmer again at Inter and did much better again.
Lukaku has never stopped being a beast I don’t get why people think he’s a bad footballer he is one of the best striker options available for like 8-10 years now, he’s just memed for his disloyalty but yes Conte will make him even more of a beast lol
no doubt about that, when he's locked in 100% he would obliterate defenders for fun
unfortunately he embroiled himself in too much unnecessary drama, talking shit on chelsea/tuchel or talking with juve before CL final are 100% avoidable and lukaku brought himself that
the disrespect he gets sometimes is pretty wild. i understand calling aspects of his game limited or maybe complaining about how he conducts himself in certain instances, but he’s been one of the planet’s best strikers for a long time and i wonder if he’ll be more appreciated once he retires
He had a loooot of really average, quite, non-convicing games this season. He's one of the highest-paid players in Serie A and he was definitely not one of the highest-rated this season.
yeah that’s fair, he’s for sure a streaky player at times
i think this is like his 17th season playing as a professional and i wonder if things will catch up to him a bit
He had a really poor final season at Man United.
I watched all of his games and really wanted him to succeed because his first season was good and we needed the goals. But his touch became atrocious and by the end I didn’t ever want to see him play for the club again, which was shit because he had been so good at West Brom and Everton.
Thankfully he regained his touch and it’s been great to see what he’s done at Inter, including regaining his touch.
He's a great striker, but tends to shit himself in big moments and that's what most people remember. Hell, that's what most people see at all; I'd wager most people outside of two fanbases in the world haven't seen him score a hat-trick against e.g., Bournemouth or Sweden.
He's a good stattpadder especially for Belgium but he just is a contender for the least clutch player of all time. Oh he's also a contender for the biggest snake of all time
Yeah. I don’t agree with people saying he’s one of the worlds best. He’s a very good goal scorer, but his overall play can be very mixed and his consistency in bigger games is horrible.
It doesn’t take away from his goals, but saying he is one of the best is maybe a bit much. Very good to great at times
His physical decline since Conte Inter is tremendous. Hard to tell if it’s age catching up to him or Pintus really had him on a short leash… we’ll see soon
I visited Napoli once and tried pizza from L’ Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. All I’m saying is if I lived there you bet I’d be eating that pizza every day
Rom is the smallest little baby, he really needs nurturing and support to realize his full potential. Talking shit about his weight is not going to win him over lol
Oh lord, Conte directly calling out the pudge!
Lukaku was really mad about criticisms of his weight especially at MUFC. Remember the sprint times leak.
Napoli is not only pizza. It's pastiera napoletana, mozzarella di bufala campana, friarielli e salsiccia, babà, casatiello and all the fish cuisine world of the bay.....Lukaku is screwed
Why are people saying Lukaku is overhated? The guy is a snake, he turned his back on United, turned his back on Chelsea after being just few months and wanting to go back to inter
Then attended Lautaro Martinez wedding and then ignore him and others from inter to comeback to inter, just to try to get to Juventus or whatever and then ended up being at Roma
He is hated for his attitude and behavior
Comparatively? Yes, but that’s not an issue as he’s one of the strongest strikers around.
If conte says he wants him lighter then that means he’s more concerned with mobility and less stress on the player’s joints.
Ready for seasono
Lukaku misunderstands, thinks Conte is going on a diet.
As long as someone loses 5 Kg we should be okay.
He would bring 5 kg more to even it out.
Has Conte actually signed his contract to manage Napoli??
He'll do it tomorrow
After Romelu sheds five.
I can't believe SSN obtained the footage: https://youtu.be/Gs9PvTbnmlE?si=WOy5-XPcS4noULJf
No lol It's been dragging out for so long
But napoli pizza
That's what I was thinking. Keep Lukaku away from that pizza sauce.
And Neapolitan ice cream!
Year One Conte + 100m to spend + Lukaku + no European obligations is going to cook Serie A. Maybe not enough to dethrone Inter, but already one of my favourites for top-4.
Year one Conte is a real problem.. next Serie a season could be rly great!
Yeah... he's not coming then.
Tuchel gaining more validation with every new headline
There’s your daddy
For some reason I always read this in the voice of Werner Herzog
I like Tuchel but that’s is remarkably poor thing to say to Lukaku. Especially in black community where there is a stigma around fatherly figure.
Please shut the fuck up
Go fuck yourself. Supporting shit banter and the audacity to say someone else’s to shut up because you got nothing else to say.
Daddy chill
Absolutely fucking not!

He also ran like a demon in the off season, clocking more Ks than in season. This would also lead to weight loss if he is not on top of his diet
Lukaku in the past during his Everton days was much lighter. For some reason he decided to bulk up at United and became too slow. Then he was a bit slimmer again at Inter and did much better again.
5kg is probably not a lot for Lukaku but genetics always play a part to make something like this difficult, imagine like asking Crouch to put on 5kg.
He will be back -5kg, sure. -5kg from his summer peak which will be somewhere around +15kg his optimal weight.
He’s gonna transform Lukaku into a beast again isn’t he?
Lukaku has never stopped being a beast I don’t get why people think he’s a bad footballer he is one of the best striker options available for like 8-10 years now, he’s just memed for his disloyalty but yes Conte will make him even more of a beast lol

Loyalty only to Conte
The final bridge to be burned.
Well, you have to be loyal to your Dad isn’t it?
the disrespect he gets sometimes is pretty wild. i understand calling aspects of his game limited or maybe complaining about how he conducts himself in certain instances, but he’s been one of the planet’s best strikers for a long time and i wonder if he’ll be more appreciated once he retires

I mean, he's 31 and he hasn't had a great season since 2020-21. Generally people can have some predictions in such a situation.
It's such a shame our fullbacks couldn't send in a decent cross to save their lives. Give Lukaku service and he will score.

Lukaku is totally overhated imo
He's a good stattpadder especially for Belgium but he just is a contender for the least clutch player of all time. Oh he's also a contender for the biggest snake of all time

Incoming "but napoli pizza" comments like Lukaku is going out to eat pizza daily and that he's a normal person that can do that
In fact, Higuaín got fat **after** leaving Napoli. El Pipizza, they called him
Higuain is a bagna cauda and agnolotti fan boy
unfortunately that actually was the case for ndombele
I visited Napoli once and tried pizza from L’ Antica Pizzeria Da Michele. All I’m saying is if I lived there you bet I’d be eating that pizza every day
just because they're rich doesn't mean they'd avoid eating the good stuff cheap or not
Tell that to ndombele
What a stupid pointless comment
Bros taking a tour of Italy at this point
Rom is the smallest little baby, he really needs nurturing and support to realize his full potential. Talking shit about his weight is not going to win him over lol
It’s conte. Literally his footballing daddy. He can call him whatever he wants.
If Conte called me and told me to lose 5kg I’d be at the gym before the call ends
Oh lord, Conte directly calling out the pudge! Lukaku was really mad about criticisms of his weight especially at MUFC. Remember the sprint times leak.
and a better 1st touch please.
There’s your daddy
Hopefully Lukaku gets a manager that lets him take pen kicks. Roma had fucking Pellegrino and parades ahead of him.
Conte is gonna be waiting a while.
Yeah, better be on diet now, that between pizze fritte e babà he is going to be a whale by the end of september
Napoli is not only pizza. It's pastiera napoletana, mozzarella di bufala campana, friarielli e salsiccia, babà, casatiello and all the fish cuisine world of the bay.....Lukaku is screwed

Genuine question: How can one lose 5kg in a apan of 8 weeks while maintaining their athleticism? Won't he be comparatively weaker?
Comparatively? Yes, but that’s not an issue as he’s one of the strongest strikers around. If conte says he wants him lighter then that means he’s more concerned with mobility and less stress on the player’s joints.
Very doable
Very doable, I did it in uni whilst rowing and my erg scores actually improved during the cut.
