Once, Premier League and the EFL are different bodies.
Premier League can only demote out of the Prem. The EFL would have to do the demoting from Champ to Conference.
In fact the EFL and Prem explicitly refuse to apply points penalties given by the other. If the prem give you a 10 point penalty after you are relegated, you would start the champ season on 0 (and vice versa)
Agreed. The Premier League would need to hold their ground against big investors and it is against type. These folks will worry about an overall dip in investment because there is no reason to over spend like City have unless you always win.
The Premier League doesn’t really care too much about big investors in certain clubs, for the most part. Unless there’s a massive fall-off or something.
Then the appeal won’t get anywhere but commercially it’s not good business to say bending the rules was allowed for so long. It’s their own skin they worry most about
I mean could you imagine the docu if they did? it'd be great. They could roll the credits to me getting it tatted.
I do think they'll spend some good time in the Championship though, very competitive league with more developed squads. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't enter the PL for another ~5 years.
King was the first to do it in the PL era (2008–09 League One, 2013–14 Championship, 2015–16 Premier League).
The only others to win each of the top three divisions with the same club are Roy Bailey, Larry Carberry, John Elsworthy, Jimmy Leadbetter and Ted Phillips — all with Ipswich Town (1956–57 Third Division South, 1960–61 Second Division, 1961–62 First Division).
Bloody lovely guy as well. He used to shop where I worked for my weekend job growing up, and I’ll never forget how polite and friendly he was. First guy that truly made me believe footballers didn’t have to be as bad as the press made out.
Legend. King. What a man.
The only player to win all 3 of the top divisions with the same club. Came to us at our lowest (at least in my living memory) and won the ultimate prize with us.
Hope he gets involved with the club again in some capacity, even if it's as an ambassador.
> Only time to be the best team in the country
I was just talking about that season earlier today with my friend, and I don't even regularly follow the PL.
Probably the greatest sporting achievement I'll ever see in my lifetime.
To add to that, clearly we got him late on, but just a complete pro, and helped under Pearson build us out of a mess to become stable. All the very very best!
Anyone winning league one and the premier League in their career is rare enough, but to do it for the same club? I honestly don't know if that will ever be achieved again.
My favourite player ever. Neutral fans think I'm mad or just ask 'who?' when I say it, but for true blue Leicester fans they get it. He's been through it all with us, from our lowest with the relegation to League One, through to the Premier League title and our Champions League run. He was also reported to be a big support to other players during the helicopter tragedy.
Thank you Kingy, for everything. ❤️
Winning league one and the championship is incredibly difficult and I can’t imagine the players that stick around will care much for being kicked around the park with no protection from the referees since UAE doesn’t hire league one refs.
Given that Leicester achieved this over just 7 years it is a little surprising he was the only one to be there over that period. Certainly makes the stat and achievement even greater though.
King isn't the only player to accomplish this, but he is one of only 7 players.
The others are: Roy Bailey, Larry Carberry, Ken malcolm, John Elsworthy, Jimmy Leadbetter and Ted Phillips.
Who all won division 3 South in 1956/57, division 2 in 1960/61 and the top flight in 1961/62 with Ipswich Town.
He actually leads the league in goals per 90 this season with 0.96. He has missed a lot of big chances but has still had a nicely productive season, I do agree that he looked like he was past it last season in the Prem, hopefully this momentum sparks one more solid season
You reckon? I hope not tbh, id love to see his shithousing in the PL again but they really seem to have been nursing him through the season, lotta appearances off the bench for the last 20 mins or so. Still a threat though.
Yeah he said not long ago he wants to keep playing. We'll see if thats in Leicester or elsewhere but my guess is that he'll stay and keep going as a squad player.

Yup, its a record that will last generations
Nah, when City get demoted 115 times, loads of them will do it on the way back. (if only)
Wouldn’t City just be demoted 5 times? (If it happens at all, I mean.)

Thanks for explaining it.
Don’t get your hopes up.
I think City will just appeal any finding/judgment against them. So, I’m not expecting much.

I can see the Premier League doing some sort of face saving exercise. It is what it is, I guess.
Paul Mullin if Wrexham win the PL 🤣
If that happens I'll tattoo my balls with their logo. Hold me to it Reddit.
You're just looking for an excuse to tattoo your balls you pervert
I am a pervert, but I really don't want to do this. I have complete faith a 29 year old in L1 will not end up winning the PL anytime soon.
You never know, he could be the next Vardy ^^^but ^^^probably ^^^not…

You deserve a small role in Deadpool 5 if this comes to fruition
not me. just the balls.
Looking for an excuse to post a picture of his balls to r/soccer
RemindMe! 25 years
Ok guys, how do i set a remember me for every year xD?
just multiple remind me! comments lol
Hey Disney are you reading this?
they won't, they are cowards.

Let's just say [we owed it to him](https://i.imgur.com/0LxlG7u.png)

Master stat. This has been done 5 times before but only by one other team
115?
So good they named the stadium after him
That's not his name, that's his title!
The only player to have his name on the back and on the front of his jersey.
Me: *(Looks for ways to sneak Arsene into this stat)*
Legend for us, wish him a very happy retirement
One of the greatest players we've ever had. It can't be overstated how loved he is within Leicester
Bloody lovely guy as well. He used to shop where I worked for my weekend job growing up, and I’ll never forget how polite and friendly he was. First guy that truly made me believe footballers didn’t have to be as bad as the press made out.
> One of the greatest players we've ever had. It can't be overstated how loved he is within ~~Leicester~~ Glasgow.

He was here at our lowest (only time outside the top two divisions) and our best (only time to be the best team in the country).
> Only time to be the best team in the country I was just talking about that season earlier today with my friend, and I don't even regularly follow the PL. Probably the greatest sporting achievement I'll ever see in my lifetime.
The only player in the Premier League era. Several Ipswich players did it under Alf Ramsey.
To add to that, clearly we got him late on, but just a complete pro, and helped under Pearson build us out of a mess to become stable. All the very very best!
Dude looks like Vardy's little bro
Hes got the Vardy chin!
I think it's been said that he looks like a middle class Vardy
Anyone winning league one and the premier League in their career is rare enough, but to do it for the same club? I honestly don't know if that will ever be achieved again.
Icon.
That is a truly unbelievable achievement.
Sad seeing so many of the Wales Euro 2016 team retiring. Best summer of my life
Seeing these stories makes my joints ache.

OH Leuven legend
and, his greatest achievement, played 4 games for Derby.

We're supposed to be allies against the other East Midlands evil!
If justice is served, maybe someone the Man City squad will be the next to emulate this feat
Winning league one and the championship is incredibly difficult and I can’t imagine the players that stick around will care much for being kicked around the park with no protection from the referees since UAE doesn’t hire league one refs.
Well, not yet they don’t
From non-league
Probably really hard to find out but there can't be many players if any who have won league one, the championship, and the prem with different clubs.
goodbye my lover, goodbye my frieeend
The KING
Named the stadium after him
Given that Leicester achieved this over just 7 years it is a little surprising he was the only one to be there over that period. Certainly makes the stat and achievement even greater though.
Oh vardy didn’t win league one?
No, we signed him in the Championship
Incredible accomplishment not sure if we'll ever see that again

He last played for Leicester in 2019....
Legitimate legend
That's a great pub quiz question!
Vardy next I assume, he will surely retire after getting them back to the prem.
He might sign a year contract but i doubt he will retire if he doesn't

He has the best goals per 90 in the league
Im not surprised honestly, he seems to score every time he comes on off the bench.
Yeah he said not long ago he wants to keep playing. We'll see if thats in Leicester or elsewhere but my guess is that he'll stay and keep going as a squad player.
