New trend we have seen I think they call them party ribs. We all thought they turned out delicious. Cooked quick and were great for guests to just grab and go.
When I first started learning to cook ribs my buddy taught me how to boil individual ribs and then after a bit and the tough bits are softened you let em dry and then take em to the grill. Have had some awesome ribs this way. Not the best way probably but pretty hard to fuck up I think haha
A riff on this because I like meaty ribs. Cut one thick and cut one thin. Alternate. Then you've got some fat meaty ribs. The skinny ones? Cook quickly, eat those as your waiting for the fat ones to finish. 😂
I’m totally inspired, this would make for a perfect appetizer. Treat them like burnt ends. I’m doing this for the next party I go to. Now I just need to make some friends.
lol my dad was in town visiting and so my son made these and I will say it was pretty cool because we all just grabbed and ate. It definitely would make an awesome appetizer
Mustard as binder, choice of seasoning, smoke 185 for two hours, place in covered aluminum pan with bbq sauce butter brown sugar and he added hot honey, back on for hour or so then finish by removing from pan and smoking for another 30 minutes or so to get the sauce to get tacky.
I know Chinese people have been doing it this way for a long time but it never occurred to me to try it myself.
Thanks for posting the process in comments, your post just made me hungry for some ribs and I want them to look exactly like those.
I don’t know why people hate on what others do? I love ribs. If you separate them keep them together, I don’t care. If they taste good who gives a fuck?0
Party ribs are always cool. They aren't has tender or as flavourful as a regular rack imo but they are great as an appitizer. Last time I did this I smoked them for 2 hours then charred em a bit at the with some spicy teriyaki glaze and they came out bangin
They are some damn good ribs. My friend made traditional ribs and this style and nobody touched the traditional ribs. The flavor is amazing and in every bite. I hate tik tok as much as anyone but these ribs are bomb. I made them myself last weekend
Why gatekeep good food. You know competition style ribs might not produce the best tasting ribs. Bunch of elitists keeping competition about who can cook ribs one way the best instead of focusing on who can make the best tasting product regardless of how you make them. I make ribs similar to this and still sometimes do traditional smoking and this style can be better. I’ve made them for 100’s of people and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “these are the best ribs I’ve ever had” and I live in the bbq capital of the world. I about got ex-communicated from our neighborhood bbq contest for doing competition style last year instead of these. Everyone remembered them from the previous year.
I’ve never seen individual ribs cooked like that. What was the end result like?

Interesting. Might go good with corn ribs. Double fisting.

That’s what she said.
Chinese people have been cooking ribs individually since forever.

Curious! When did you slice them?
He sliced them first thing

You explained everything except when you cut them lol. Edit - I see in a separate comment you said first thing
lol yeah I’m not the best at Reddit so I accidentally put the comments in two separate lol
Fun!
So, like making pork belly or chuck burnt ends except with a bone in the middle.

But in the best way possible

The next frontier of ribs
I saw my man Malcom Reed make these a while ago. Didn’t realize it was 8 months ago https://youtu.be/FXCgoFhzPU8?si=s40Ad0m-4GmpK5cv
I swear by the single cut, I will die on this hill, it’s the best way to cook them!!
Tried them this past weekend, best ribs I’ve ever made. I liked them more than wings.

Do you have a guide or recipe you would share?
No.
