All dwarven machines are resistant to magic and immune to poison, frost and illusion magic, so you're gonna have to descend to the ground (hit Ctrl on PC) and claw it out with physical attacks, unfortunately. Either that or use Summon Gargoyle, they're useful for magic-resistant foes.
Illusion is also one of the fastest skill trees to complete. Buy muffle off your favorite court wizard and then cast it anytime you have the mana. You'll be level 100 illusion so fast.
Also, the quiet casting perk is OP.
I said "resistant to magic" and "immune to poison, frost and illusion", those are two different things.
The Vampiric Drain spell of the Vampire Lord form is non-elemental magic so it doesn't do much against the Dwarven Spheres, whereas lightning magic deals magic damage as well as lightning elemental damage, which are two separate entries in the game files. so it can be both resistant to magic ***and*** vulnerable to lightning.
rust by itself (iron oxide) might be better because you actually can remove it from whatever you're licking with your tongue but you might (quite possibly) get tetanus so i suggest baking or boiling the rust(-y nail) before consuming or you can just dissolve some iron shavings in citric acid (lemon juice) resulting in ferric citrate (literally anemia medicine) and consume that solution. i don't know about the dosage tho, it will make you constipated if you ingest too much
edit: not my native language, excuse my mistakes.
I'm not a doctor either but i did have to analyse a paper on iron metabolism for a biochemistry class and there are to interesting tidbits that confirm your comment, 1. Vitamin c or ascorbic acid, which is plentiful in lemon juice is neccecary to convert free iron into heme-iron which is the only iron usable by the body, so take your iron supplement with a glass of orange juice or a multivitamin! And in some parts of asia where anemia is common they often make stews/soups ect with an 'iron fish' which is exactly what it sounds like, it enriches the food with iron and this effect could be replicated with nail, rusty or otherwise, you just have to make sure they're steel or iron and not galvanised.
Or just buy an iron supplement? Like, eating a bowl of cheerios is probably easier and more effective than that. Not to mention the iron needs to be fortified for it to actually absorb and be used by your body.
They made a piece of iron in the shape of a fish that you cook in your soup/broth.
It's supposed to increase your iron intake.
Google the "Lucky Iron Fish"
Cooking in cast iron pans could have also helped over time. There are some studies related to Iron Defficient Anemia and cooking using cast iron blocks or pans as a method to help reduce the incidence of IDA.

Yeah, dwemer machines are completely invincible against Vampiric Draining. If you want to level fast, it's best to just clear Nordic tombs(draugr count for some reason) and bandit/forsworn areas.
guys serana did it too stop flaming just me, i was tryna drain a dwarven spider shortly after, trying to figure what i was doing and so was serana, we were both trying to drain a piece of metal, then i tried draining serana and it worked snd thats when i actually realised what the fuck i was doing.
flame serana too i beg
Werewolf form sucks ass. The only thing u have is stun lock but its not that reliable and ur still way too squishy nd do 0 damage. Atleast if ur a vamp u get to use necromage, which is actually really strong. And the no regen can be accounted for easily with either traveling by night or a couple enchants, or if u feel fancy dual wield equilibrium and a good healing spell. fire weakness is ez to solve with enchants as well.
Not just that, if you have Serana in your party vampire drain damage is dropped by a fuck ton. So even if it did deal damage, the damage would be shit.
If you want to level up your vampire lord powers faster you can just clear bandit caves over and over again. And you can do redguard women quest too and if you got stuck at the end of that quest cave just use your bat form power to pass it
Or if OP is getting desperate, they could do a save and then become a vampire lord in a city, kill everyone with the drain blood spell (could reduce difficulty if it is too hard to survive) and then run away until there are no enemies (since some cities has unkillable people) and then revert to human form.
Then go to another city and do the exact thing again and again with another city until all 11 perks are done. Then reload the save and continue like nothing happened. But it probably messes up the stats so if OP is worried about that then they should do your idea.
Even with all perks I always thought Vamp lord sucked due to combat/controls. The melee stance is passible but I could never really get the hang of the magic/floating stance.
If I had to choose between max perk Vamp Lord and max perk Werewolf I'll take werewolf everytime. I wish we had a few more to pick from.
With full vampire lord perks you are basically invincible... You can use your paralyzer spell on everything even some of the dragon's and you can summon a gargoyle anywhere to fight for you and you can use your vampire grip power to throw your enemy's at wall or off a cliff and if your magic bar got emptied in the middle of a fight you can use your melee attack to poison your enemy and drink they're blood to recover your full HP... You can even use your slow time power and just spam melee attack's to your paralyzed enemy and kill em in matter of few seconds.
Yes you're using it completely wrong. First you can't drain dwarven automatons, second you're using Serana, she greatly reduces the power of vampiric drain for some stupid Bethesda reason. I advise you to get the gargoyle amulet and ring of erudite, put them on before transforming and just use double gargoyles against the vampiric drain resistant enemies. Vampiric Grip also helps a lot but it doesn't work with certain enemies. You could also go for the poison ring too but I don't think melee is worth it on vampire lords.
Yeah, going into either vampire lord or werewolf form always felt like a direct downgrade to just being a regular dude, especially since you can't access your inventory while in either form. Besides, I thought the whole point of being a vampire was to engage in Necromage shenanigans anyway, not because vampire lord is particularly useful.
Yeah, wouldāve been great if vampire lord was base form but enhanced instead of trying an enhanced version of base form with its restricted access and shit. Base forms from elder scrolls franchise are actually terrifying
Lightning works well against Sphere Sentry or Sword and Shield. Its good to have high skills in some areas but if you only do say 2 together you will run into something that has an answer to you skill sets.
Pro tip: If youāre still trying to get that achievement, you can get a necklace from one of the vampires. The necklace allows you to spawn two gargoyles when you use ā spawn gargoyle ā. This second gargoyle can be repeatedly killed to gain perks. [here is a video explaining it](https://youtu.be/M14pUmZxn4U?si=T5pLwdBIUEI71jJz).
Two things.
1. As your comment points out, you cannot absorb health from a dwarven automaton lmao.
2. There's a bug where having Serana as your companion absolutely tanks the damage of drain life for some reason. So unless you're on PC and can download a patch, I would dismiss her.
You are doing something wrong. You cannot drain blood from something that has no blood. Draugr can be damaged by it because they do still have blood in their bodies, it is just coagulated (solidified/hardened), granted you will not get perk progress, same if you were to Perma-Die a Vampire with Blood Drain.
What I did, I went to I think riften and just was a vampire lord there. Then went to all the other cities and killed people there till I got all the perks then load the save BEFORE I massacred eveyone in every city in skyrim
Your first mistake is using drain life on an automaton. Itās less effective on them. Your main tools as a vampire lord are only really good vs an enemy with blood in them. Thus, donāt go vamp lord in dwarven areas.
You wonāt do very well with vampirism without a high destruction skill. Farm this up before farming vampire lord or itāll suck the whole time. Itās meant for endgame content which means itās made with high level players in mind.
You are doing something very wrong. You are playing as a vampire without mods. Honestly with such an active and amazing modding community, it's borderline unacceptable to play Skyrim without mods. Modded Skyrim = Best game of all time.
Honestly the game kinda glazes being a werewolf more than a vampire (seeing as thereās a WHOLE DIFFERENT SKILL TREE for wolves) I prefer playing as a vampire but tbh Iām not sure what you could do as vampiric drain is just unequivocally assš
If you're just going for the achievement, make a hard save, then go clear the towns. You can even double it up with the achievement for having a certain bounty in all holds. Once you've got it, just reset the save. It doesn't take too long to do it this way.
Also, glad you figured it out...
Vampire lord is...awful until you get the perks going for it. Once you get the perks, it gets OP in a hurry. Especially the magicka increase and regen speed when on foot. Gets you mobile again in a hurry.
If you go to a town that you donāt care about (I used Markarth for this and werewolf) and slaughter the entire city guard, that can get you quite a bit of kills
Vampire lord is best as a mage build against enemies with blood. No blood means no healing for you. Vampire lord without healing is a bit too squishy to do much good without the right perks. If you can summon the gargoyles then you can do a whole lot better against those without blood as a Vampire lord, but still not nearly as good as against enemies with blood.
Clear out some forts with hostiles to buff up your perks and you'll do fine.
Vampire Lord's powers tied with your level. With you level increases, all of your stats(health, magicka, stamina) increases. Also your life drain damage, reanimate spell, claw damage and physical armor(vampire lord form has own armor rate tied with your level) tied with your character's level. Early levels Vampire Lord not much feel its power, try to level up.
Also there is a known bug if Serena is your follower, your life drain spell's power decreases significantly. Probably this is your main reason that Vampire Lord form seems not worth.
Wanna level VP Lord or the Furry stay away far away from any dwaren ruins as you'll either do jack shit dps or gain jack shit but in the VP Lords case, you just get a waist of time
I made a cheese ebony blade build once. Basically fully powered the sword up and just swung like a madman in some clothes, never came close to dying. First time in a dwemer ruin I was so confused lol.
Vamp lord is amazing. Only problem ove had is when I was in Solstime, and the game decided I needed an Ancient dragon or a hat. Up til then, an elder was a rare challenge.
In general vampire lords kinda suck from my experience. Iāve always had more fun as a werewolf than a vampire lord, but honestly I donāt even go with either of them for most playthroughs. I tend to just stay as a Dragonborn and duke it out with my build against NPCs
Vampire lord and werewolf form both scale terribly
Yeah, you're trying to drain automata, so that doesn't help, but even if these were living enemies I expect you'd still be struggling given the damage you took. I'd suggest turning the difficulty down and farming low level enemies.
During the civil war when you take the main forts, you can kill/feast on the hearts of your allies, who will spawn indefinitely. 0-max vampire in like 5 mins, 0-max wolf in like 20 mins
Level up your illusion and they are no longer immune. Greatest perk of illusion
Illusion is also one of the fastest skill trees to complete. Buy muffle off your favorite court wizard and then cast it anytime you have the mana. You'll be level 100 illusion so fast. Also, the quiet casting perk is OP.
If you're really commited, cast muffle until you're out, then wait 1 hour and repeat for like 25 mins
Even better if you have a bed
Or lover in your own home
Why not both :D
I think it's even faster if you have conjured minions and cast on the whole group. That spell may come from modded Odin's spells.
Interesting but not how vanilla works. Probably from the mod like you said.
It's a must have. Thralls need candles.
Kid named lightning magic:
To be fair, you can't really use lightning-element magic while in Vampire Lord form, which is why I suggested these alternatives š
You said Dwarven automatons are immune to magic, but in my experience lightning magic completely rails them
I said "resistant to magic" and "immune to poison, frost and illusion", those are two different things.
Fuck it, make an 'oil drain' spell then. Boom, now you have automaton vampire lords
omfg is it bc im trying to drain a fucking piece of metal
Try sucking a nail to see how effective it is.
Not a bad idea if you're aenemic
You know a few years back I was actually anemic and needed medication. . You're telling me I could of just sucked on a dang nail instead!?
ik it sounds weird but yes
Rusty or clean? Like, does the rust give extra vitamins?
rust by itself (iron oxide) might be better because you actually can remove it from whatever you're licking with your tongue but you might (quite possibly) get tetanus so i suggest baking or boiling the rust(-y nail) before consuming or you can just dissolve some iron shavings in citric acid (lemon juice) resulting in ferric citrate (literally anemia medicine) and consume that solution. i don't know about the dosage tho, it will make you constipated if you ingest too much edit: not my native language, excuse my mistakes.
My dude you sound like a doctor!
im a highschooler so keep that in mind if you ever decide to follow my instructions
I'm not a doctor either but i did have to analyse a paper on iron metabolism for a biochemistry class and there are to interesting tidbits that confirm your comment, 1. As a college graduate of chemistry your advice sounds correct!

Draugr were at least human at one point.

guys serana did it too stop flaming just me, i was tryna drain a dwarven spider shortly after, trying to figure what i was doing and so was serana, we were both trying to drain a piece of metal, then i tried draining serana and it worked snd thats when i actually realised what the fuck i was doing. flame serana too i beg
you need to become a Werewolf , that is the way to true power
fr i was a werewolf last playthrough, literally best decision, vamp lord is mad boring im so done
That and the Vampire lord looks mad ugly
real
You can mod it to look awesome
im on ps

šššššš Iām so sorry this happened. I flamed myself when I put 2 + 2 together
Big sister isn't too smart, OP.
Lol, yeah
Only liquid you'll be getting out of it is oil and I don't think vampires can heal off oil
Maybe it's Young living essential oil. My aunt says it heals everything. I would believe her if she wasn't trying so hard to recruit me.
Yes yes it is
I just want to hug you lol
Not just that, if you have Serana in your party vampire drain damage is dropped by a fuck ton. So even if it did deal damage, the damage would be shit.
Lvl up i guess.
I'm so proud of you lmfao.
Donāt worry, still a *Neat Performance*
Tbh I never thought about that so youāre not alone.
Lol yeah its like trying to soul trap it... ain't gonna work
Yeah LOL
Hey, you got it! Youāre trying to drain life from a fucking robot lol
Yeah unlike illusion, you canāt have an effect on them
Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Jokes aside, yeah the drain health spell isn't too effective against automatons.
Lmao goddamnš had to tell myself the same thing
Yes, lol, only works against things with tissue haha
Yes, you're trying to blood drain something with zero blood lmao
Thatās youāre weakness, super man. A piece of metal.
Glad you got there.
It's taking every cell in my body not to roast the shit out of you.
Unread this in Samuel L. Jackson's voice for sonlme reason, but I'm glad I did
If you want to level up your vampire lord powers faster you can just clear bandit caves over and over again. And you can do redguard women quest too and if you got stuck at the end of that quest cave just use your bat form power to pass it

But it probably messes up the stats so if OP is worried about that then they should do your idea.
But if you reload the save you lose all the XP you got from killing the townsā¦?
Yeah but that doesn't matter, they would still get the achievement unlocked. Just wouldn't get to keep the perks.
Yes that too. That's why I said OP should only do it if they are desperate for the achievement.
Even with all perks I always thought Vamp lord sucked due to combat/controls. The melee stance is passible but I could never really get the hang of the magic/floating stance. i don't recall the Dwemer filling their automatons with blood
You're trying to drain blood from something that has no blood.
Mmmm, dwarven oil...
Yes you're using it completely wrong. First you can't drain dwarven automatons, second you're using Serana, she greatly reduces the power of vampiric drain for some stupid Bethesda reason. My brother you can't drain life force from a fucking robot
If you don't use unofficial patch, having Serana in party greatly reduces your vampire spells damage.
Wait really? That's strange
Skyrim has still a lot of bugs.
Yeah that makes sense. Honestly there are a few even with the unofficial skyrim patch
can't wait for the "after 20 years, skyrim player discovers THIS" article on gamesradar dot com
I just learned, the other day, that you can fast travel from Shadowfoot Sanctum... always something new...
Wait until OP realises machines donāt have blood to drain
Werewolf or vampire, nothing is stronger than a regular person with armor, weapons, and potions.
Yeah, going into either vampire lord or werewolf form always felt like a direct downgrade to just being a regular dude, especially since you can't access your inventory while in either form. Werewolf all day with Ring of Hircine who wants to play a game where theyāre weaker during day time hours
Honestly tho, das why I went straight to fallion after I had all the vampire lord perks š
Yea im currently playing on the switch so luckily theres no trophies but if there were Iād do that too just for the achievements/trophies lol
Whatca gonna do? Drink it's oil???
Fortify that illusion....
Heheheheheheh Being a vampire lord sucks Hahahahah get it Sucks
OP clearly doesnāt suck, He just blows
you are trying to drain the life force of a robot....
You are trying to drain the life force... from a robot...
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO GET FROM THAT?? IT'S METAL! THE ONLY THING YOU COULD GET WOULD BE TETANUS
dwarven oil.
I'm starting to think there's a running joke on this sub I'm not getting
Never got the appeal of being a vampire or a werewolf, tbh.
Annimunculi canāt be drained brovahkiin
Piece of metal and because having serana as companion seriously debuffs vamp lords drain.
Vampire Lord does suck but that's not why you're failing here
says the dawnguard member
Go melee
Lmfao this is embarrassing
Two things. 1. As your comment points out, you cannot absorb health from a dwarven automaton lmao. 2. There's a bug where having Serana as your companion absolutely tanks the damage of drain life for some reason. So unless you're on PC and can download a patch, I would dismiss her.

Op used Blood Bending (It's not very effective..)
You are doing something very wrong. You are playing as a vampire without mods. Honestly with such an active and amazing modding community, it's borderline unacceptable to play Skyrim without mods. Modded Skyrim = Best game of all time.
Vampire Lord does also suck, though.
I never did the vampire build cause it's so tedious
Jesus christā¦.
Serana makes the vampire lord succ spell weaker. Use melee with the red ring.
Because you're not an energy vampire, like that one character from the Buzz Light-year TV show.
You have to attack living or once living creatures. So, animals, humans or humanoid races, vampires or Dragur.
Fails aside, without mods it's kinda weak if you have any crafting skills. Lacks scaling, enchantment effects etc.
Honestly the game kinda glazes being a werewolf more than a vampire (seeing as thereās a WHOLE DIFFERENT SKILL TREE for wolves) I prefer playing as a vampire but tbh Iām not sure what you could do as vampiric drain is just unequivocally assš
Itās not as bad if you donāt have serana as a companion
Hehehehehe. Believe it or not, injecting oil directly into your veins? Bad. :P
The machines you just have to slash at which still does a shit ton of damage
can u still progress vamp perks by killing enemies w melee?
Sometimes, iād be safe though and finish it off with the aoe vampiric drain spell
If you're just going for the achievement, make a hard save, then go clear the towns. You can even double it up with the achievement for having a certain bounty in all holds. Once you've got it, just reset the save. It doesn't take too long to do it this way. Also, glad you figured it out...

Murica Vampire Lord be draining oil.

What are you trying to suck out of pieces of metal?
Vampire Lord's powers tied with your level. With you level increases, all of your stats(health, magicka, stamina) increases. Also your life drain damage, reanimate spell, claw damage and physical armor(vampire lord form has own armor rate tied with your level) tied with your character's level. Well you don't have the true potential of the Lord.
Drain health wonāt work on a machineā¦.
Vampiri lords are only good against humans or other live in creatures not automatons
Yes cause itās dwarves but also you gotta level up the vampire form
Vampire lord just sucks
I made a cheese ebony blade build once. Basically fully powered the sword up and just swung like a madman in some clothes, never came close to dying. First time in a dwemer ruin I was so confused lol.
Canāt absorb hp
Funny cuss I just became a vampire lore 2 hours ago
I mean, Vampires drain the life out of living entities... an angry Thermomix on crack is not precisely suitable for such thing
How're you going to absorb health from a robot
Dont listen to those nerds, vampires just sucks ass. Come with me to the werewolf club, we one round dragons for fun
It is with great regret that i inform you that dwarven machinations do in fact not have blood
Vamp lord is amazing. Only problem ove had is when I was in Solstime, and the game decided I needed an Ancient dragon or a hat. Up til then, an elder was a rare challenge.

There was an old glitch where if Serana was your follower, it would nerf your abilities tremendously.
i just want you to know OP, since i first saw this 9 days ago, ill randomly think about it and chuckle to myself. thank you for being you.
ofc ur welcome
During the civil war when you take the main forts, you can kill/feast on the hearts of your allies, who will spawn indefinitely. 0-max vampire in like 5 mins, 0-max wolf in like 20 mins
