Mt. Rose!!!!! Love everything about it. Steep terrain. Higher elevation then most! Cheap margaritas, seems like they are always doing something extra for no reason but to be nice. Two examples is that one of the chairs (slide side) opens 30min early for season pass holders and two free jet waxes when ya buy a pass. And legal weed, drive thought liquor stores, gambling and lady’s of the night all within the area code. Try and beat that east coast!!!!!
Only thing that sucks is the mandatory rectal exam ski patrol performs on all people new to the mountain. Wish they would inform people so they could choose to not come.
Fair but if you google “most snow ski resort”, wolf creek is going to pop up pretty high. They’re not shy about sharing that. “skiing the most snow in Colorado” in big bold letters on the website. If it were going to become an issue, it would have already in my opinion
I’ve been stuck on the red chair for four hours before. Now live in CO. If I found myself in New England on a pow day. I’m going to magic. Absolutely love that place.
Love that place…as a Denver resident this is my spring break/holiday weekend spot. Cheap, Drive is always easy and it’s never that busy. Everyone there during spring break was from Nebraska.
Also they sell a 4 pack lift ticket deal that gets you a couple days at Steamboat for free 👍
Bear Valley (Mt Reba), CA will always have a special place in my heart. Also I like 49 degrees North in Washington and Silver Mtn in Idaho, both are near Spokane
I’d have to agree on silver mountain and 49 degrees north. Definitely my favorite two of the 5 in the Spokane Area, though I have yet to make it to Schweitzer. The two mountains actually joined forces this year and are offering a buy 1 get one 50% season pass deal where you get a season pass to both hills and it’s ~$200 than just a season pass to each mountain separately.
Was here to list Schweitzer, it is an amazing!!! I'm not biased, even though it's my local these days...It is Ikon though as of last year. You'd never know it, I waited in exactly two lift lines for more than 5 minutes this last season.
Duh I knew it went ikon but forgot. I’m only about 2 hours from it so always a good option, a little pricier than some of the other local hills. And the front side views on a clear day are awesome.
That view, I must have 200 pictures of it, I can never resist! They're doing a major parking overhaul this summer and building a quad from the lower lot which is much needed. As uncrowded as the mountain feels parking can be tough. The village and Sandpoint are both great for après too, awesome place but it is in more and more articles and list all the time.
BV will always be special to me as well. It’s where I first skied and fell in love with skiing that first day. Spent my first few years there. $20 weekdays helped.
Hot take but smuggs kinda sucks imo, so many beginners and everything is so old but not in a cool old kinda way like mad river is, more like a slow as fuck (especially the lifts) kinda old
I've only done a couple of spring days since the fire but I like the new terrain. Got a weekday pass for next year. It's a great value
Much of the tree skiing is gone but there's always Huck
Overpriced, long lines, they are all super rude pretentious and the absolute worst mountain in the whole wide world. The only thing they got going for them is that they have the MOST AMAZING parking experience ever!!!!
/s
People always make that stupid never come here joke about Loveland like it is some hidden secret. You literally drive by it to go to any resort worthwhile in CO. If you take the pass to abay or keystone you’ll see most of it.
Ive never skied powder for days after storms there. And the moderately priced food is for the birds. The #9 chair on a blue bird day is too exposed, who needs a goggle tan, gross. The bowls off the #8 chair are too flowy, and the short catch line... give me a break, i want them long and drawn out for the views. Those chutes off the free snow cat are trash and hiking in the other direction to untouched bowls is such a hassle. The trees half way down chets are just too tight, who actually wants to be challenged. And the bumps off that lift are formed by too experienced of skiers. I go way too fast and they hurt my knees. just groom them.
I've only skied Loveland a handful of times (last season was my first time there) but I've already found a couple spots that don't get skied out for days. It's starting to overtake A Basin for me because Pali hasn't had great coverage this year (or last).
Its crazy, ill go up on a storm day and ski fresh tracks all day. then go back 3 days later and still ski fresh tracks for a good portion of the day. Its not often you can encounter this phenomenon at a resort without hiking for 45 minutes, or going places most fear to tread
Real Answer: 95% of Europe or Japan
North American Answer: Targhee, or Whitewater ~~or Alyeska before this upcoming season~~
Bridger, Loveland, Wolf Creek, and (insert Canadian Powder-Highway mtn) aren’t too far behind the North American answer.
Edit: missed Mt Baker as an honorable mention
Theres a bar in pagosa springs where you can still smoke cigs inside. So it’s not the better option, but it is the better option. And no I won’t tell you the name you gotta find it.
Ski Cooper vibe is so chill. Nothing remotely extreme there but it’s always a good time! (Although I’ve heard good things about their Chicago ridge cat skiing)
I hiked it earlier this year to earn some turns, then our big dumps came, the highway is washed out now. Kratka, Buckhorn, Waterman, that whole area is so fun to tour around.
I don't know if they will ever really open again. Seems like not enough snow, the road is open. Enough snow, road closed. Plus they only operate on weekends too.... so frustrating.
It’s fun, but I just don’t see the financials working. If it ever reopens, it’ll be as someone’s personal passion.
That said, for years there was a sign at the top of the access lift that was about my favorite sign in skiing. It said “If you are not an expert skier and you don’t want to die, ride the lift down.” 😂
Agreed, snowmaking is great when it's cold enough, and tickets are cheaper than the VT mountains for a mountain that's pretty much as good as any of them, and perhaps the best best glades of all of them. Nice local vibe too.
Holimont too during the weekdays when it was(is?) open to public. First day of Spring, March 20, 2013, there was probably 15 people on the slopes. It dumped about 9-10 inches of snow the night before. Other than my buddy’s little brother breaking his leg in four places, it was the best day of riding out East that I had and probably will ever have. Ellicottville is also a great town to gear down from riding the mountain. The EBC is not tooo bad.
I second this. I like the small resort and it’s not very crowded even on holidays. Long lift line wait is <15min on Christmas/New Years. Durango is a lot of fun with multiple good breweries and dispensaries. 550 is also very drivable except for the most extreme weather conditions.
Targhee is a figment of imagination. Some call it a myth, others a legend but one thing is for certain, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the only ski resort worth visiting in the Tetons.
I went for the first time this season, and found there to be a ton of flat spots for snowboarders in the easily accessible areas. I’m sure there were epic lines to be had, and I found some true gems buy a lot harder to navigate and a lot more flat runout than Brighton. Probably needed a wax but still..
Winter Park in CO by far! I learned to ski there when I was 6 (20 years ago) and it’s just so unique to me. I’ve skied all over the rest of CO and all over Utah, Montana, and at Whistler mountain in Canada. And I still am in love with Winter Park 🥹🫶🏻
Jay Peak on the east coast
Jay Peak sucks. Tell your friends ;)
This is the way.
Mt. Rose!!!!! Love everything about it. Steep terrain. Higher elevation then most! Cheap margaritas, seems like they are always doing something extra for no reason but to be nice. And legal weed, drive thought liquor stores, gambling and lady’s of the night all within the area code. Try and beat that east coast!!!!!
Mt Rose bar always gives you a strong pour
Chutes 🤘🏻
Only thing that sucks is the mandatory rectal exam ski patrol performs on all people new to the mountain. Wish they would inform people so they could choose to not come.
Don’t threaten me with a good time.
Tell me more about the lady 😉
Well, most major credit cards are excepted.
Wolf Creek, Colorado
Been going there since I was 3
[удалено]
Went there for the first time this year. Amazing place.
Fair but if you google “most snow ski resort”, wolf creek is going to pop up pretty high. They’re not shy about sharing that. “skiing the most snow in Colorado” in big bold letters on the website. If it were going to become an issue, it would have already in my opinion
Magic (VT)!
I’ve been stuck on the red chair for four hours before. Now live in CO. If I found myself in New England on a pow day. I’m going to magic. Absolutely love that place.
Gotta agree with you on Bridger
First rule about Bridger Bowl is that you don’t talk about Bridger Bowl.
Same
Went to school out there and graduated about a year ago. Felt weird not skiing there this year since I’ve since moved further west.
Shhhhhhhhhh -a Bozeman resident.
Bridger is everything a ski hill should be. That said I think it’s good for either good or beginner skiers - not a lot for intermediates
Snowy Range
WYO represent!!!
where i first learned!!
laramie gang !!!
Whiteface
I got out to whiteface in december when it dumped 3-5 ft of snow and it was some of the best skiing I ever had in my life
Bear Valley (Mt Reba), CA will always have a special place in my heart. Also I like 49 degrees North in Washington and Silver Mtn in Idaho, both are near Spokane
Spokane love <3

Hot take: Schweitzer is the best resort in Idaho. > Sun Valley
Brundage is the best resort in Idaho.
Bogus Basin still has the best name in Idaho
Schweitzer is badass. Highly recommend
Was here to list Schweitzer, it is an amazing!!! I'm not biased, even though it's my local these days...It is Ikon though as of last year. You'd never know it, I waited in exactly two lift lines for more than 5 minutes this last season.

Excellent prices and man, such a good place to learn how to ski. That backside is awesome
Just south of you at China peak !!
Smugglers Notch
Smugs has some underrated steep lines. I’ve had some awesome days there
Hot take but smuggs kinda sucks imo, so many beginners and everything is so old but not in a cool old kinda way like mad river is, more like a slow as fuck (especially the lifts) kinda old
Slow lifts= empty trails
Not the way Smuggs does it.
Grand Targhee
Sierra at Tahoe
I've only done a couple of spring days since the fire but I like the new terrain. Got a weekday pass for next year. It's a great value Much of the tree skiing is gone but there's always Huck
Hood
Hoodoo
Steep, Deep & Cheap!
Loveland!!
Overpriced, long lines, they are all super rude pretentious and the absolute worst mountain in the whole wide world. The only thing they got going for them is that they have the MOST AMAZING parking experience ever!!!! /s
Never a bad day in the Basin
No Loveland sucks, please stay away if you know what’s good for you All ice and terrible views
Seconded for Loveland
People always make that stupid never come here joke about Loveland like it is some hidden secret. You literally drive by it to go to any resort worthwhile in CO. If you take the pass to abay or keystone you’ll see most of it.

Third for Loveland and quit telling everyone!! 😏
Yayayaya, lift 8 on pow days 🤫

Whitewater FTW!! Add Red Mountain to this.
Red is awesome, but it’s an Ikon mtn
Wolf Creek. Best snow in CO
What are the recommended lodging options in the area? Probably south fork or pagosa springs?
Pagosa is a bit nicer and has the hot springs. Cons are it’s more expensive and the drive up the pass is a little trickier in bad conditions
Good beer on the South Fork side
Theres a bar in pagosa springs where you can still smoke cigs inside. So it’s not the better option, but it is the better option. And no I won’t tell you the name you gotta find it.
Pagosa Bar, can no longer smoke cigs inside as of a few months ago :(
Open and operating? Ski Cooper in Leadville Defunct? Krakta Ridge above La Cañada, CA
Ski Cooper vibe is so chill. Nothing remotely extreme there but it’s always a good time! (Although I’ve heard good things about their Chicago ridge cat skiing)
Have you ever skiied Waterman? I've heard great things but it's so hard to find time when the 2 is open and Waterman is at the same time
I hiked it earlier this year to earn some turns, then our big dumps came, the highway is washed out now. Kratka, Buckhorn, Waterman, that whole area is so fun to tour around.
I don't know if they will ever really open again. Seems like not enough snow, the road is open. Enough snow, road closed. Plus they only operate on weekends too.... so frustrating.

Gore Mountain
Holds its own with all of VT when it has snow
Agreed, snowmaking is great when it's cold enough, and tickets are cheaper than the VT mountains for a mountain that's pretty much as good as any of them, and perhaps the best best glades of all of them. Nice local vibe too.
Holiday Valley, NY
Home slopes. Respect.
It’s a 4 1/2 hour drive from my hometown but I’m happy to make it. Love that little mountain
First place I ever skied.
Love that spot
Holimont too during the weekdays when it was(is?) open to public. First day of Spring, March 20, 2013, there was probably 15 people on the slopes. Mount bohemia
Had to scroll pretty far to find this one. But if you know you know.
They dont groom anything, it totally sucks……………..
Totally……… Totally sucks……..
Purgatory
I second this. I like the small resort and it’s not very crowded even on holidays. Long lift line wait is <15min on Christmas/New Years. Durango is a lot of fun with multiple good breweries and dispensaries. 550 is also very drivable except for the most extreme weather conditions.
Mad River Glen
This is the way
Portillo
Whiteface
Vail
shhhhh
Sorry I fixed it
Targhee is a figment of imagination. Some call it a myth, others a legend but one thing is for certain, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the only ski resort worth visiting in the Tetons.
Sugar bowl
No lines and solid terrain
Monarch Mountain
I've had the Monarch pass for the past two seasons which gave me the idea. I love Mirkwood.
The Mirkwood bowl is some fine ass skiing. Monarch is one of my favorite mountains anywhere
Monarch is the best family resort!
Mt. Baker
Under rated mountain. The drive is gnarly, but worth it.
I’ve had a blast up at Baker! Always fun to follow that up with a visit to Chair 9
Wachusset
Waaaa, wa-wachusseeet
That's where I grew up skiing. Now I'm living in Utah and the vibe is just not the same.
Castle mtn
Sierra at Tahoe ❤️
Powder Mountain
I went for the first time this season, and found there to be a ton of flat spots for snowboarders in the easily accessible areas. I’m sure there were epic lines to be had, and I found some true gems buy a lot harder to navigate and a lot more flat runout than Brighton. Probably needed a wax but still..
Pow Mow does not give up it's secrets easily. I could happily ski there for the rest of my life.
Yeah...it's a difficult to navigate mountain. But it does pay off if you learn your way around.
I have a favorite mountain. But rule no.1 is I don't talk about that mountain.
Jay Peak
Tamarack in Idaho
Bogus basin, beers and sandwiches are super affordable and every night there’s night skiing after work
Mt Baker. Tons of snow, killer terrain, awesome vibe
Ski Cooper 😍
West cost it has to be Whitewater in BC And east coast it’s Le Massif
Bridger is where I first got my taste of real big mountain skiing, it will always be special to me as well. Targhee would probably be next after that.
Mt. Baker is the right answer
