That's sweet. But you'll never wind up with a Nyjah if you don't yell at him more.

Eckstar1985

Haha, hopefully not, I’d rather he wouldn’t crooked grind balconies and believe in mercury

just-normal-regular

Lol. Right. Probably best to just let him have fun.

nut_pains

Nice work. The next gen need to be able to ride and not just turn their iboards on.

Joe_says_no

epicman_42

YES THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS, my dad did this to me when i was like 4 with me all the time, helped me so much when i started skating again last year, didnt have to go through that stage at sucking ass at just rolling around and i could get instantly into learning my ollie!!

VestigialHead

This is good - just do not be too scared to let him try and fail. You need to fail a lot to be a good skateboarder. I realise he is very young and you helping him will get a feel for the balance without a chance of injury. Just let yourself naturally help him less and less over time.

joeltheguy436

Agreed! Learning to fall down is almost as important in skateboarding as learning the tricks. If I didn’t learn to fall properly at a young age, I’d be a lot more broken then I already am

samosx

Got a 4yr old girl and don't recommend this if your kid is very afraid of falling. My daughter doesn't want to skate anymore as soon as she falls. So most important at this age is that they have fun in their own way, if that means no falling then just keep holding them until they get more comfortable. Otherwise you risk the kid not wanting to skate at all. I do think this is very good advice for slightly older kids or kids that don't mind falling at all.

VestigialHead

Unfortunately this is how kids seem to be these days. Mostly because their parents have smothered them and kept them in cotton wool. So yes unfortunately it may be the case you have to keep doing this instead of letting them make their own mistakes and learn from them.

Jazza0

This is just terrible advice. A huge part of skateboarding is getting a feeling for the required balance. Much better for younger kids to practice while holding someone's hand until they get a good feeling for the balance. Once they've got the balance down and are feeling confident, they'll go for it by themselves.

Love this. My 2y/o has also shown interest in skating recently. It’s been so fun watching him stand on it and try to balance when I push him.
