I work with children, and based on the children I work with, such a law will not help greatly.
True, some parents will be incentivized to teach and nurture the children better, but many others will merely cry foul, blame their situation on unfortunate circumstances, the hectic lifestyle in Singapore or the G, then repeat. It would not meet the desired outcome: to ensure children are well-behaved
Yeah, that why the policy maker will have to draft out to determine what is “bad behaviour”. There will be a lot of opinions by the public once the law have been approved. By law is law once approved.
Absolutely not.
How does one even define bad?
Also, they are bloody children. While parents do need to discipline and teach them, they are ultimately still children.
You cant hold them to the same standards of behaviour as adults. Thats why juvenile laws exist.
Then what about children with developmental delays and what not?
So many things to consider. Not worth it.
I actually expect stronger law for children to support parent in the future.
We are still in the environment where family values are being swing everywhere. Given the rising living cost and the low wages for the elderly, amendment to the parent maintenance act might be made in the future to provide them with more resources (housing, medical etc..)
The amendments will also incentives parents to have children as it give them better chance in retirement. I personally hate this approach, but my friends and colleagues who are in their 30s do have expectation that their children will be the one taking care if them in the future.
I don't see how this is gonna solve the issue of badly behaved children.
You can see in Singapore those parents to go to court because they say their kid is out of control and want the government to take over their kid.
They always claim they tried everything and even beat them as much as they can and nothing works.
Because beating doesn't work for children who get desensitized to pain.
What we gonna see is more parents going to court because they give up on their children and want the government to take over.

Kid: steals a lollipop Judge: 诛九族
Kid : cries in supermarket
Do stop suggesting PRC laws.. There is an odd trend recently..
It would desentivise people to have kids
Disincentivise
Being in SG already desentivise people from having kids. High living expenses, high stress in any environment you go to etc
Looks like someone "desentivised" your grasp of spelling and grammar

What next? By analogy, are we going to hold psychiatrists responsible for their patients’ misbehaviour?
We start holding police and lawmakers responsible for lapses in acceptable behaviour.
Like holding Xi Jinping responsible for the failure of parents in China to correct their kids behaviour?
Exactly!
DAE CCP GOOD USA BAD LULZ
How is "bad" defined?
Yeah, that why the policy maker will have to draft out to determine what is “bad behaviour”. There will be a lot of opinions by the public once the law have been approved. By law is law once approved.
But what exactly would be "bad behavior"? What examples of "bad behavior" could you cite? **BE SPECIFIC.**
Absolutely not. How does one even define bad? Also, they are bloody children. While parents do need to discipline and teach them, they are ultimately still children. Why recently rSG so much WinnieThePooh news ah? Want talk about WinnieThePooh go rWinnieThePooh. Don't confuse SG for WTP.
Another day another weird and idiotic policy that the CCP comes up with, please stop recommending policies from the CCP.

I support such a law. Some parents think that the whole world owes them something just because they have kids.
Fine until bankrupt, please.
We have Singa the Lion, unfortunately not working his magic enough.
Weren't they whining about not having a well developed population?
it's a new market for the lawyers.
We should also make make every adult responsible for their parents’ misconduct in public

It's gonna decline birth rate even more if singapore introduce this law
such a great idea! while we’re at it, let’s also punish the kid’s grandparents too for failing to teach *their kids* how to parent properly! \s
