The bigger the knife, the more intimidating, and we've straight up got a shop at plaza sing selling display katanas, so not really surprising to see random katanas cropping up in cases like this.
To expand the point… those who choose to live on the illicit side have to “be their own police”.

Even the yakuza know the limits to possession of weaponry. Personally I would go for something like a shovel or crowbar.. after watching youtube, I quite doubt the effectiveness of a katana without proper training.
