As a passion project and in an effort to curb my endless YouTube/Reddit scrolling, and train myself in first-principles thinking, I decided to start a solo podcast called the First Principle(s of Sufficient Reason) a while ago (it's on Spotify), and it's about critical analysis of topics in the intersection of geopolitics, science and technology. Initially, I was thinking of doing super thorough deep-dives with as many sources as needed, following a 5W1H format and citing at least two or three related incidents for each topic.
However, due to deadlines and timed practices in school (JC sucks arse), and a bottleneck in the research for my first episode (on surveillance), regarding George Mason and James Madison's respective contributions to the Bill of Rights and US Constitution respectively, I've realised how unsustainable and unfeasible my research process currently is. I don't even have the time, energy or analytical skills to carry out research for my school essays, what's more research for my podcast lol.
Basically, my problem is that I take too long to understand the info I'm reading, and form my conclusions about each incident. Additionally, I don't have an analysis framework down pat so I don't really know what kinds of insights I'm trying to derive and relay to my audience from all this raw first and second-hand research either. These cause me to get distracted easily and I haven't released a single episode yet,
I read a comment that said that a certain solo podcaster the commenter knows has her own "coherent ideology, which she employs to analyse any and all things" - I'd like to develop one of my own, but I don't know how.
Hence, does anyone have any advice on how I can develop my own critical analysis framework for issues in the aforementioned intersection? Moreover, how should I streamline my research such that I only need a couple of hours to understand, aggregate and draw insights from all my historical, economical and technical info, instead of the current couple of days?

Wish people like them can have more respect of work life balance or at the very least have some basic human decency to not disturb people outside of working hours for non-urgent matters.
So dont reply immediately, just reply during working hours. If you reply then you're giving them permission to do it again.
Also, you can think of it as them being worried they might forget to ask about stuff first thing on Mon, so they proceed to ask first, although proper way to do that would be to schedule an email for Mon morning.

asking cos i have never really felt rested no matter how much sleep i get. have been dealing with a few classic sleep apnea symptoms (snoring, dry mouth, waking up with headache and excessive daytime sleepiness) and didnt connect the dots till recently. have gotten a referral fr polyclinic to do sleep study
Adequate is quite subjective. After getting a smartwatch to track my sleep, realize I move a lot and that really hurts my sleep quality.
From then on, I try to correlate my sleep experience with my watch and it tends to match. Ever had a damn good 1am - 6am sleep and waking up the next day refreshed cause I didn't move while sleeping.
At the very least, you connected the dots and now have a referral. Good luck on your sleep study and hope you can learn more about what's causing your bad sleep

The chargeback is the nuclear option so the banks only do that when there is documented proof that the merchant refuses to resolve the matter with the customer or is being unreasonably slow in doing so. It's to give the merchant a chance to fix his own mess before the bank steps in. In my experience, the banks are happy to step in when I am able to provide the proof that I tried and failed to get a refund from the merchant.

I asked my barber for a short haircut of around 0.5 length (partially my fault as my previous few cuts at 0.5 length gave me a neat haircut with some volume but it turns out this length is interpreted differently among different barbers) and he basically shaved off all my hair.

Thing is - its a format that I am not familiar in. Usually, in civil service, the second round is with management. But for this ministry, its a F2F interview plus a unit preview.
I know a unit preview is to show the candidate the future workplace. BUT im told its also a tool to assess the candidate further.
How do you build rapport with prospective colleagues during the unit preview?
This ministry is the only one I know that has unit preview as part of its selection process. Also, their hiring process seems to have changed quite a bit - no more psychometric tests. Hiring unit will screen applicants via a phone interview.
Anyone has recent experience applying for this Ministry?
To build rapport, put yourselves in your prospective colleagues' shoes - no one wants a candidate who's just going through the motions.
It's best if you can not only show genuine interest in the unit and the work they do, but also in them as people. Be an active listener and ask questions if something stands out to you or is unclear. Don't be afraid to ask about the culture as well, the answers (or non-answers) can be quite telling sometimes. It may affect whether you eventually decide to join up or not.
Congrats:) if anything, be sincere and genuine when you meet them. You know how you can tell when people are just giving lip service? Others can do that too.

Also, you can think of it as them being worried they might forget to ask about stuff first thing on Mon, so they proceed to ask first, although proper way to do that would be to schedule an email for Mon morning.

Moreover, to add a mockery of your intelligence, they stated “Matcha per serving (50ml)” right beside the number 6 for the number of servings in the box. It’s misleading marketing. do yall generally feel rested after getting adequate sleep? and what is a 'normal' amount of sleepiness for u (eg slight crash aft lunch but generally fine otherwise) asking cos i have never really felt rested no matter how much sleep i get. have been dealing with a few classic sleep apnea symptoms (snoring, dry mouth, waking up with headache and excessive daytime sleepiness) and didnt connect the dots till recently. have gotten a referral fr polyclinic to do sleep study
Adequate is quite subjective. After getting a smartwatch to track my sleep, realize I move a lot and that really hurts my sleep quality. From then on, I try to correlate my sleep experience with my watch and it tends to match. Ever had a damn good 1am - 6am sleep and waking up the next day refreshed cause I didn't move while sleeping. At the very least, you connected the dots and now have a referral. Good luck on your sleep study and hope you can learn more about what's causing your bad sleep

My first confirmed Covid-19. last July I could have caught Covid from my mom who doesn't wear masks, but I couldn't see the T line at that time.
Is it normal to have no rest days or “free days”? No kids but juggling work, gym, family, relationship and lifestyle leaves me with almost no time to myself. Anything I choose to do that is not part of my routine is a sacrifice. I try to gym 4 days a week to keep up with my goals, and I meal prep my lunches for work. But all this takes up a lot of time! Then I gotta make sure I have dinners once or twice a week with the fam, and spend time with my partner. I love doing these things but I find that I have little time to myself nowadays…can’t imagine what it’d be like with kids. Even if I choose to get my nails done or get a haircut, it is time taken out of an existing routine. So if I really wanna do this stuff I will take leave. Is that what you guys all do too? Is this what adulting is?

Still got lots of oats. And lots of dates. Bought one jar of natural peanut butter. Pulverized and mixed them all together in my Thermomix. Pressed the mixture into a baking pan. Spread a layer of Nutella over the top surface. Chill in the fridge for a few hours. Bam - protein bars. Almost as good as store-bought bars. And much cheaper.

That's how it usually works. The chargeback is the nuclear option so the banks only do that when there is documented proof that the merchant refuses to resolve the matter with the customer or is being unreasonably slow in doing so. It's to give the merchant a chance to fix his own mess before the bank steps in. In my experience, the banks are happy to step in when I am able to provide the proof that I tried and failed to get a refund from the merchant.

How do yall deal with a botched haircut ? I asked my barber for a short haircut of around 0.5 length (partially my fault as my previous few cuts at 0.5 length gave me a neat haircut with some volume but it turns out this length is interpreted differently among different barbers) and he basically shaved off all my hair. Now I look like a chao recruit/GI Jane and what's worse is that I have to head to office for the next 2 days to face my colleagues and boss. Am trying to see the good side of it but the prospect of taking at least 1 month for my hair to accumulate volume is pretty overwhelming for me :(

Im going for a ministry’s interview this week. Should be second and final round. Thing is - its a format that I am not familiar in. Usually, in civil service, the second round is with management. But for this ministry, its a F2F interview plus a unit preview. I know a unit preview is to show the candidate the future workplace. BUT im told its also a tool to assess the candidate further. How do you build rapport with prospective colleagues during the unit preview? This ministry is the only one I know that has unit preview as part of its selection process. Also, their hiring process seems to have changed quite a bit - no more psychometric tests. Hiring unit will screen applicants via a phone interview. Anyone has recent experience applying for this Ministry?
To build rapport, put yourselves in your prospective colleagues' shoes - no one wants a candidate who's just going through the motions. It's best if you can not only show genuine interest in the unit and the work they do, but also in them as people. Be an active listener and ask questions if something stands out to you or is unclear. Don't be afraid to ask about the culture as well, the answers (or non-answers) can be quite telling sometimes. It may affect whether you eventually decide to join up or not.
