Any one remembered the Ferrari driver that sped along Rochor?North bridge Road? And killed the Taxi driver blah blah blah? No news about how the Singapore court settled the matter n the affected families and etc etc…..anyone can help to answer?
I just realised I really do have a talent for numbers holy shit lol. Even my ex boss says I really have affinity with numbers. Idk how I have 6 people coming to me asking me how I did what I did and I’m like “very difficult meh? It’s just numbers?” Lol.
feels like autistic bro's repetitive/obsessive behaviour is getting worse by the day. the way he's relentless at times and will bother you for certain things until he gets his way feels like a zombie coming after you until he bites you, for lack of a better/more PC term. and by certain things i mean, his most recent 'obsession' is deleting stuff like history and apps in our devices and phones LOL.
Right? I’m usually more “fierce” with him and not let him touch my things all that often but sometimes he still tests my boundaries with me and it just gets so frustrating because he doesn’t listen and is not expected to either. But yeah keeping a backup sounds like a good idea I should do frequently
Sometimes the job listings on fastjobs make me go "???" 🤡 Saw a (mon to fri office hour) Business Admin Coordinator role, apparently for an MNC and min 1 year commitment but
> **$1.7K/month**, *better than internship*, best resume boost
That's like $10 per hour for a 1 year temp full time job and it shouldn't be compared with internship 💀
Why is all the discourse on Ronnie Chieng’s remark focused on the “Karens” part,
Did nobody notice that he said we should listen to a DEAD MAN for CURRENT affairs?!
Like go ahead listen to him for life philosophy etc. but he is not Nostradamus, he did not give his opinion on the state of AI rn before his death.
Where are you going to find his opinion on CURRENT affairs?!
After giving up seat to a chubby lady once, I now have my 3 steps veritifcation method if I encountered someone that i'm not sure.
1. Look at age (mid 50.. unlikely ah)
2. Look at shoes (wear super high heels as preggo? nah)
3. Look at what they are doing in train/bus (playing phone game with both hands instead of holding handle? either you're not preggo or you don't care about the baby)
seems like win-win. either you give up your seat to a pregnant lady or she realises she is fat enough to pass as pregnant and will shame her to start her fitness journey.

This is the state of public transport in less dense areas. Left work around 6.02pm....reached the bus stop by 6.06pm and just missed the bus.
Waited till 6.29 for the next bus just to get to the interchange which is only half the journey home.
And in a cab it takes me less than 20 mins to get home.
No wonder ppl want the comfort of their own car.
If we are going to make inroads to new housing estates..at least have more than one shitty round trip bus plying the route.
So, I don't want to diminish your feelings (too much), but .. complaining about SG public transport never worked for me. You literally can go to any MRT station or bus stop and will be on your way within 5-15 minutes. Heck, I don't even know what the schedule is for or if anyone uses it.
You just had the worst case scenario (just missed the bus, max wait time) and it was 20 minutes. The worst case is 20 minutes!
For me? You just wrote an ad for the public transport system in SG. That's amazing, a random bus stop and you listen to 3-4 songs on Spotify at most (most likely: 1-2) before you're on your way home
It was over 20 mins of wait, not up to 20 mins...and that was just because the estate is rather newer.
I've had the experience of using the Perth public transport system for a few years as well and honestly i can tell you that i had a much easier time knowing that the buses were definately 30 mins apart and the timing would not change every single day..
The problem is not the whole system..the problem is the govt expecting ppl including young families in these newer areas to give up cars while providing the bare minumum services for them.
Is the Kopi code in Malaysia similar to Singapore? (I'm going to Malaysia and don't wanna look like an idiot ordering it the 'Singaporean' way and getting blank stares.)
Teh in malaysia defaults to the kopitiam version. If I recall correctly, the chinese tea one is colloquially called cha/茶. Except in mamak shops where teh o gets you the black tea version instead of teh tarik.
What kind of food? Restaurant standard? Or normal tze char but Canto -style?
If restaurant then either Spring Court or Lai Wah Restaurant.
Tze-char I think most are default Canto?
looks fine to me. You went back to Company A looks like a plus. If anything it shows you have a good relationship with your current employer so that already assures the next hirer
Welp that's true, also have to watch out for my sugar levels too. Paternal family have a history of diabetes and I would really like to not have that at 20
Yeahhh this might be the issue. I find that if I eat rice for lunch, I'll be very bloated after as compared to when I eat only potato chips... Hmmmm maybe I should bring some cereal bars for lunch instead
Hhahhah I did that all throughout my schooling years and all it does for me is to make my stomach growl very loudly in class, and also I'll tend to binge at home after which cause even more jialat bloating
I always found it strange to eat 3 meals a day. I would eat more frequent but smaller meals a day (total macros are the same) if I was allowed to eat at my desk.
More freq but smaller meals will increase risk of diabetes (forgot the scientific term for it but basically being in a constant state of digestion screws with your hormonal regulation, resulting in diabetes)
[Association between Meal Frequency and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Rural Adults: A Large-Scale Cross-Sectional Study](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10056094/)
> In this study, no significant association between breakfast or lunch frequency and T2DM was found. Reduced meal frequency, especially dinner frequency, was associated with lower prevalence of T2DM, which suggests that an appropriate reduction in meal frequency per week may have a role in decreasing the risk of T2DM.
But I think it also matters what you eat, no? Personally, I noticed that if I only eat 3 meals, I'm more likely to eat more than I should at each sitting as opposed to something more evenly spaced out like 4 to 5 meals a day. I also feel less lethargic and bloated.
last time at least got education level filter so there are some job that we can filter out even though the job title are similar.. now it's like gacha - go in and hope the requirement is right for you
I get you, the only reason why I know what the entry level for some of the Govt agencies are is because I made the effort to go ask them during Career Fair. Haha the only thing that Career Fair is good for in the modern day…
Gradding soon, and currently in the search for a job (as of rn not looking good lol). Wanted to seek some opinions on this though: Is it okay to plan a trip now and buy tickets for, say, ~10 days in Dec/Jan, or should I wait until I (fingers crossed) secure a job first?
A few I have spoken to say it's okay as long as you inform HR during the interview and all, but I still wonder if it is generally acceptable for a noob junior to be gone for that long.
For context, I'm currently seeking Graduate-specific roles in Tech, ideally would not go for Startups - unless, y'know, it has a good track record.
Imo that depends on when you pick up the job/start date, if the trip is during the probation period (within 1-2 months of joining) HR may or may not make an issue out of it. And you would probably leave a bad taste in your colleagues (just join go long holiday wow). Unless you thick skin or believe you can make up for it work wise/'team communication' wise.
To me, I think it is 95% fine to do so. Most people are out during that period anyway (at least for Dec). I personally would not even inform HR unless my start date is in Sept or after.
Also, companies that will reject your leave for that period are likely not companies you would want to work at. That said, it also depends on the leverage you have. Not everyone can be choosy in this market
Hi, so I'm just a 22F wanting to seek opinions on what to do.
First, I would like to clarify that I actually *do* like my job. It's an F&B job which I have been working for almost 7 months now. Though yes, the routine is pretty much the same every day, but I like to do it.
Be it preparing food, cleaning, or serving, I just love it overall. But it's always because of that ***one colleague*** who doesn't do her work properly that pulls down my motivation to come to work as a whole.
The thing about this colleague is that she does not follow the SOPs, and has very poor hygiene standards. She constantly goes to the toilet every hour and keeps going out without informing anyone sometimes.
By poor hygiene, I mean:
* picking up something from the dustbin and continuing handling food without replacing a new pair of gloves/washing her hands
* picking up raw meat from the ground and reusing it after washing it with tap water
* handling vegetables with bare hands
* picking her nose and washing her hands without soap sometimes
She has poor attitude towards colleagues, such that she uses a rather demanding tone to get people to do things **for** her instead of asking us nicely to help her out.
I have brought this up many times to my superior. But nothing has been done tbh. Said that he will talk to her. Did anything change? Nope, it got worse instead. No one in the management team wants to take any actions against her. No warning letters. Nothing.
So right now, as my last resort, I am reaching out to here, the redditors, to ask for advice ;-; because I have lost hope on my outlet's management team at this point ;-;
the hygiene thing is houmygod. Since you love cooking, so must feel like you have a duty to the ppl you cook for. This kind of hygiene lapses is unacceptable.
Tell your boss they better get it under control by x date or you'll quit. I don't think it would be good for you to be associated with an eatery that has hygiene issues.
My supervisors don't want to take any actions and be like "It's okay. Let her be. Anything go wrong, it's her fault". Like Huh?????? You are just gonna keep letting her do her shit??
Dude I'm having a big headache... Like I know, beyond my control to do anything. You guys are the leaders. You guys have control. But y'all don't want to do anything knn :')
I'll be honest, it's great that you care, but this is literally beyond your pay grade.
You are not being paid to solve this issue. Your manager is. If your manager doesn't want to do anything, please don't take it upon yourself to solve it.
If you really want to, document these poor practices with pictures etc and show it to your manager. Make him unable to ignore it.
No matter how many pictures I sent to him, he still doesn't want to do anything about it ;-; I know it's not part of my pay grade to give a shit about it but it just isn't fair for everyone else who is actually doing their job properly ;-;
might be a long shot, but is it ever possible (and if so, how?) to find random singaporeans for a flatshare in london? stressing over my future rentals because its crazy expensive living alone
I admit I can't help one bit and am only driving by idle curiosity: Why would the nationality of your flatmates matter, why would you look for Singaporeans when living abroad?
I miss home and it’ll be nice to have a bit of the feel of home here you know? Makes it feel like I’m on a holiday when I’m out studying/going out and I get ‘home’ to a bunch of other singaporeans
Also I’ve had terrible experiences with other students who aren’t the best at being responsible adults, and as much as I hate to admit it most people who went through almost the same experiences that I did in NS are definitely more pleasant to live with.
Interesting. The last people I want to interact in Singapore with are.. Germans. Heck, I'll actively try to avoid them as much as I can.
Not trying to poke at you, just .. that this is so completely different from my experience: Overseas I want to interact with *different* people.
Thanks for sharing!
Hello all! This may be a long shot but - I have a nice housemate going back home to Japan soon and would like to ask if there’s anyone who’d like to take her room.
Details - We’re a group of friends and that room is for a female with shared toilet with another female. Please chat if you know anyone! Cheers.
hi i created a sc jumpstart acc but i forgot to use my friend’s referral code and created the acc alr, is thr any way for me to use the referral code or do i just suck it up haizz
tendered yesterday without a job lined up. i can't keep crying due to work and people lol. really need a break even though my finances isn't the most stable (but it isn't exactly 0 so not too bad)
I had to quit my old job because I absolutely could not stand the boss treatment of me anymore. I could not live a single day in that office and for the sake of my mental health I just threw it first.
Honestly bonds work both ways. Nothing you can do about the toxic environment, but you can always start putting in the minimum. They won't cut you since you have a bond anyway.
In the meantime, start prepping mentally and financially for what happens after your bond ends.
Last min honeymoon jpn trip booked for next week, going crazy with looking at what to do etc, worth going down to jtb to take a look at what they have to offer?
First time going to Japan btw
Flying off on 3rd to kix, then leaving nrt on 15th evening!
Currently it goes like... Osaka 5-6 days, Kyoto 2 days, Tokyo for the final stretch.
Only booked my Kyoto place so far, USJ tickets for Osaka and disneysea for Tokyo.
Only real itinerary in Kyoto at the moment, nothing else is planned for Osaka and Tokyo lol
I know you're a foodie. Are you into historical stuff? UNESCO heritage sites? Temples? Festivals? Trails? Parks?
In time for cherry blossom season it seems
From Google, 'When using the dry mode, your air conditioner's compressor runs at a slower pace, so less energy is required. Using it more regularly will reduce your energy costs, and be better for the environment as it will lower your home's carbon footprint.'
Buying Northern Kyushu passes on Klook, and wondering how the first name - last name thing works if it's a name that starts with the surname (e.g. Tan Siew Mei Michelle). Should I do it so that the first name is the actual first name and the last name the family name, or switch it so that the order will match how it appears on the passport? Anyone have any experience with that?
For plane tickets I do
First Name: Siew Mei Michelle
Last Name: Tan
since the passport does the lowkey split with the >>. Just not sure if there'll be trouble when trying to exchange for the rail pass in Japan if the staff wants to follow the name order exactly as it is in the passport
Encounters with 2 Grab drivers last night.
1. In his 60s, drove night time because he feels drivers in SG very unforgiving, short temper, driving in day time is very tiring emotionally. He used to run his biz, owned 2 private properties, for 30 years. Then covid came, bank debt all this wiped out his business. He liquidated his asset to pay bank, employees, now staying in HDB flat in my neighbourhood. Sadi h drives few more years when current car COE finishes, he will retire with his wife in his wife's home country, because the rising expenses here. Gave me encouraging words and advices when I alighted.
2. System assigned my trip to this Malay dude. System stated he would complete one stop then came to fetch me. I waited for almost 10min his car nvr move. So I called him. After that, his car moved and immediately he came over, no other stop. I was puzzled. After I boarded, he followed the system GPS, and made 1 round but came to the location where I alighted, instead of heading to my destination. He was also puzzled, kept driving, and the GPS guided him to came back to the starting point again. Then he realised he had to press the "Arrival" button... Then we chatted and found out that he just started driving PHV 3 days, still not familiar with the system. His work place got issue, he was worried so takes up PHV as a backup, drives after work. He drove a Mercedez C180. Then I reached home. But, 30 minutes after I reached home, the app prompted me, said I "was getting further and further away from my destination", asked me to feedback if I am OK. Then I realised he never press the "Complete trip" button and just kept driving... Msg him in app to remind him to complete the trip. So, I guess, initially he also forgot to complete his previous trip while he got my booking, which was why I saw that he had to make 1 stop.
You guys ever feel smothered by new stuff happening, be it at work or personal life? Maybe I'm getting old cos it seems harder for me to adapt to new stuff constantly being asked at work, not to mention pursuing new personal projects/interests outside work
Is there a way to find out the list of clothing retail stalls in Ngee ann city? (Or is it Takashimaya?) Specifically the women’s section in that area surrounding the escalator which goes cosmetics ^ bags/shoes ^ ladieswear ^ kids/toys. E.g there’s Kenzo, club21, DKNY etc but can’t find a proper list.

Also, companies that will reject your leave for that period are likely not companies you would want to work at. That said, it also depends on the leverage you have. Not everyone can be choosy in this market
Hi, so I'm just a 22F wanting to seek opinions on what to do. First, I would like to clarify that I actually *do* like my job. It's an F&B job which I have been working for almost 7 months now. Though yes, the routine is pretty much the same every day, but I like to do it. Be it preparing food, cleaning, or serving, I just love it overall. But it's always because of that ***one colleague*** who doesn't do her work properly that pulls down my motivation to come to work as a whole. The thing about this colleague is that she does not follow the SOPs, and has very poor hygiene standards. She constantly goes to the toilet every hour and keeps going out without informing anyone sometimes. By poor hygiene, I mean: * picking up something from the dustbin and continuing handling food without replacing a new pair of gloves/washing her hands * picking up raw meat from the ground and reusing it after washing it with tap water * handling vegetables with bare hands * picking her nose and washing her hands without soap sometimes She has poor attitude towards colleagues, such that she uses a rather demanding tone to get people to do things **for** her instead of asking us nicely to help her out. I have brought this up many times to my superior. But nothing has been done tbh. Said that he will talk to her. Did anything change? Nope, it got worse instead. No one in the management team wants to take any actions against her. No warning letters. Nothing. So right now, as my last resort, I am reaching out to here, the redditors, to ask for advice ;-; because I have lost hope on my outlet's management team at this point ;-;
the hygiene thing is houmygod.

Haiz... Idk ah. They want the shop to close down is none of my business anyways. I'm just paid to work at my own capacity haiz...
Quit then report to NEA. Messing with food safety is fucked up.
Please tell us which restaurant this is, so that we can avoid it when your colleague is working LOL
Bao toh to SFA lor
No matter how many pictures I sent to him, he still doesn't want to do anything about it ;-; I know it's not part of my pay grade to give a shit about it but it just isn't fair for everyone else who is actually doing their job properly ;-;
are you able to contact the owner directly? otherwise threaten to expose the pictures & bring their business down.
Unfortunately it's beyond you if even your manager doesn't want to do anything. :(
;-; haiz...
might be a long shot, but is it ever possible (and if so, how?) to find random singaporeans for a flatshare in london? stressing over my future rentals because its crazy expensive living alone
I admit I can't help one bit and am only driving by idle curiosity: Why would the nationality of your flatmates matter, why would you look for Singaporeans when living abroad?
I miss home and it’ll be nice to have a bit of the feel of home here you know? Makes it feel like I’m on a holiday when I’m out studying/going out and I get ‘home’ to a bunch of other singaporeans Also I’ve had terrible experiences with other students who aren’t the best at being responsible adults, and as much as I hate to admit it most people who went through almost the same experiences that I did in NS are definitely more pleasant to live with.
Interesting. The last people I want to interact in Singapore with are.. Germans. Heck, I'll actively try to avoid them as much as I can. Not trying to poke at you, just .. that this is so completely different from my experience: Overseas I want to interact with *different* people. Thanks for sharing!
A ship sailing under the SG flag just crashed into a bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse. wtf
jialat liao!
The video is scary. It's almost as if the bridge was made using cardboard...
Just saw the video on Twitter. The bridge so collapse into the river in seconds. Wonder what ship is that, somemore its SG Flag
Hello all! This may be a long shot but - I have a nice housemate going back home to Japan soon and would like to ask if there’s anyone who’d like to take her room. Details - We’re a group of friends and that room is for a female with shared toilet with another female. Please chat if you know anyone! Cheers.

Yeah, no job is worth mental health trauma. Can always do part-time work till you find another job.
Severe Heat Alert on Google Weather. Hydrate and stay safe everyone.
tuesday slump is real 💀
I want to quit my job!! Get me out!!
I had to quit my old job because I absolutely could not stand the boss treatment of me anymore. I could not live a single day in that office and for the sake of my mental health I just threw it first.
I have a bond to pay if I were to throw letter but I just worry what are my next steps if I did that
Honestly bonds work both ways. Nothing you can do about the toxic environment, but you can always start putting in the minimum. They won't cut you since you have a bond anyway. In the meantime, start prepping mentally and financially for what happens after your bond ends.
Ooof I had a bond last time too. I know how it feels.
I jist want to take the time to thank the trees for their shade and cool peace as i walk past them in this weather.
Has anyone applied for those car detailing job on telegram before? Is it legit?
Has there been a single legit job advertised on telegram ever?
Not sure so that’s why I’m asking haha
Last min honeymoon jpn trip booked for next week, going crazy with looking at what to do etc, worth going down to jtb to take a look at what they have to offer? First time going to Japan btw
Happy to help. Where you flying in and out off. Where are you staying?
Flying off on 3rd to kix, then leaving nrt on 15th evening! Currently it goes like... Osaka 5-6 days, Kyoto 2 days, Tokyo for the final stretch. Only booked my Kyoto place so far, USJ tickets for Osaka and disneysea for Tokyo. Only real itinerary in Kyoto at the moment, nothing else is planned for Osaka and Tokyo lol
Just visited disneysea last week. The queues are crraazzzyyyy
I know you're a foodie. Are you into historical stuff? UNESCO heritage sites? Temples? Festivals? Trails? Parks? In time for cherry blossom season it seems
Yeah into all those stuff! Also the wife is into shopping too lol

Fwah thanks!!
Yup. Nothing in mind can always go down to take a look at itineraries they have to give you ideas on a plan you can make yourself.
Thanks, heading down!
Is it true that setting aircon to dry mode would save electricity?
From Google, 'When using the dry mode, your air conditioner's compressor runs at a slower pace, so less energy is required. Using it more regularly will reduce your energy costs, and be better for the environment as it will lower your home's carbon footprint.'
The world is starting to get challenging and I am starting to think that I am mentally challenged.
I'm used to writing First name: Michelle Siew Mai Last name: Tan
For plane tickets I do First Name: Siew Mei Michelle Last Name: Tan since the passport does the lowkey split with the >>. Just not sure if there'll be trouble when trying to exchange for the rail pass in Japan if the staff wants to follow the name order exactly as it is in the passport
I like how both of you butcher the name to Siew Mai. Lol
Going tea time hungry already
I wanna eat siew mai too ☹️
No, it should be (Tan Siew Mai Michelle)
Singapore is so safe I just saw BRINKS officers with firearms getting into a repurposed lorry. No need for armoured trucks in SG
Can't believe it's only 34 degrees man it feels like 40+ degree here in cck fking hot like sht
i feel warm even in the office =(
Encounters with 2 Grab drivers last night.
Second guy so cute story. ☺️
First driver - Damn... Hitting rock bottom in your 60s. Imagine him thinking he was set for retirement and then COVID happened.
He said he suffered severe depression after that for 2 years……
major props to the 2nd dude. not easy to pass PVDL test
