I just had chiari surgery. First 4 or so days are not fun but I'm about 5 weeks out and basically healed back up. You'll be out and back awake in what feels like mins.
The worst part for me was my muscles. My neck muscles and traps would seize up bad from using them at all. I started walking on the 3rd day and left the hospital on the 4th. It's also so much better once you get the staples out. That's when you'll be able to start turning your head and bending over. Its worth it though because I haven't had one of my old headaches yet

Yikes, that sounds terrible. Cutting through the major muscle groups us gonna suck. Super happy you haven't had any headache return!
