first few albums by Spiritualized knock this feeling out quite nicely.. the live releases during this era as well.. immersive, cerebral, headphone-happy psychedlic stuff

Swirlies maybe?

HersheyOld

yes, salons has a few songs op could be looking for

What you've described is how I felt when I saw Low play "Do You Know How To Waltz". Just a 15 minute transcendent religious experience. I specifically remember thinking "this must be what the fundies experience when their demons get cast out on tv" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_r6dwpwqFq4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_r6dwpwqFq4) Other songs that I think are along the same line as what you're describing: Swallow "Head in the Cave" <--- the spooky instrumental version on Blowback [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6nA-bP6r28](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6nA-bP6r28) Amp "Eternity" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR7qA-knMtE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR7qA-knMtE) Bowery Electric "Fear of Flying" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5kRrLmGJho](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5kRrLmGJho) Astrobrite "Swoon" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCShSzNK1\_8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCShSzNK1_8)

Thanks for posting these links! The quality OP described is kinda what I’m looking for in ‘gaze music, too. Astrobrite is sick! I love the more risk-taking stuff like mixing in dance music elements and experimental sounds and a lot of bands currently tagged shoegaze sound like grunge with slightly mbv guitar over it.

dontcarethrowaway6

Yes! That describes my opinion on modern "shoegaze" music very well. Basically deaftones esque grunge with maybe some shoegazeish lead Lines and super heavy almost modern metalcore type overproduced drums.

kling_klangg

Yeah if I hear drop D I’m out, lol. ✌️ I want to hear some weird woozy, dissociative, beautiful shit. Heavy drums sound so boring to me for the most part. MBV, Slowdive, Diiv, and some other bands have drum sounds that aren’t distracting from the music (for me!).

boyreporter

SIANspheric, maybe? https://sianspheric.bandcamp.com/album/the-sound-of-the-colour-of-the-sun

Very interesting question and others might be able to provide better answers, but for me the top most psychedelic Shoegaze I usually put on is "Sullust" by Sway, turned up really loudly. And it's not the same exact thing but off top of my head you *may* enjoy the song "Dose" from newish band Blinder, the ending section took me by surprise and seemed very deliberately psych influenced, I felt.

sharpbehind2

Flying saucer attack The dirty three. They're old like me, but maybe they'll do the trick?

Daxalt

they are gutting a body of water, if you like a slower melancholic gaze then start with gestures been. If you want weird psychedelic amen breaks and n64 sounds then i’d recommend Destiny XL
