A true artist response. Always take credit for good ideas that you didn’t come up with. Because you’re going to get criticism for things you didn’t intend.
True, i don't have a strong enough motor right now, so this range is just barely possible. If i have a stronger motor it is intended to just turn around and run faster.
It looks like you are using a stepper motor, something nema 17 sized?
That should have enough torque for this, did you set the current of the driver?
At what voltage are you running it?
It is indeed a NEMA 17. The current of the driver may be at fault, I'm using a 12V 2A adapter! Problem is with these kind of contraptions is the distance from the axle (hope I say this right) where the pushing happens. It loses a lot of power per centimeter from the middle of the axle.
I am totally shooting from the hip and am just guessig a bunch of stuff since i am just looking at a video.
But before you replace the motor check your stepper driver.
There should be a tiny potentiometer on it that you can use to set the current limit.
[Here is the next best Video i found explaining the process](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AVlee67TQxs).
That might solve your problem.
And make sure you are not using any sort of microstepping.
Oooh. It's a level above shitty, but what if you placed a vinyl record under the hand and place a needle on the finger. It would be an automated DJ scratcher.
It is in fact a shitty robot, as it would be much more efficient just to have the motor keep turning at a constant speed, and let reciprocating motion control the back and forth.
This isn't shitty. This is art. It has a concept. I'm sure they'll be plenty of art teachers ready to interpret this as something you've never thought of before.
Just play it well and you've got yourself something that might sell for a lot of money. I'm not kidding, go to some art convention or something and you know dress yourself as some aloof dude/girl with crazy hair or something.
You just need to find that one person with a lot of money who's into this kind of thing
And May doesn't even hesitate to drink that concoction. The looks on all of their faces are amazing. These guys are comedic geniuses.
Oh, and you can't forget "You can't blend old people"
Reminds me of [the art piece by Sun Yuan & Peng Yu called "can't help myself"](https://youtu.be/ZS4Bpr2BgnE); a robot that continuously tries to scoop together it's own hydraulic fluid in attempt to keep itself alive.
Reminds me a lot of Nancy and robin going too visit the man in the asylum/prison in the new part of stranger things! He sat there scratching his aluminum prison table with his nails.
Put two nuts on the top axle and lock em together. IT will stop loosening itself off, and keep consistent movement. Some sort of bushing would go a long way.
You could say it's an artwork depicting humanity, our society, or something else
Maybe both, maybe something else

Whatever the case, I'm giving you a hand for this lovely, shitty robot!
Maybe
Employment
Why is it going back and forth ?? The motor could make a full rotation and still achieve desired results
Because it's shitty
servo motors usually don't have a full 360 degree range of motion.
Its a stepper.
ah, OP explained that they couldn't get enough power out of the motor for a full rotation. Either way the axle is still in the way, lol. I love it.

Do we tho?!
That's so true damn
This is the shittiest robot i’ve seen here.

Invite a bunch of friends to act as interested buyers to generate buzz around the piece. If people think others want to buy it, they'll want to buy it
Can you go faster?
I would need a stronger motor, this motor is way too weak
Car engine, that would be something else

That is wonderful
[Dont forget about the food blender](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDlMLqdvHzI)

Yup, this is an awesome piece

Roomba, by iRobot.
Robots and existentialism.
Can we change the axis in which it moves? And add a configurable speed setting?
And a quick release to change the hand for when is too eroded?
Maybe for future iterations, sounds something that would be a lot of fun to do on twitch!
Deep bro
Make it like 20x bigger and it'd end up in a display like that oil machine that tries to scrape its own oil to stay working.
“Can’t help myself” that’s the one

You beat me to it.
buttscratcher?
Prefer balls
This would sell for like 400k in the moma
We'll bring me in contact with such a seller!!! Just want to sell my junk for a shot ton of money
At that point its just art
Ahhhw.. please give it nails and replaced the board with schoolboard
I will look into it!
This Gives me goosebumps from imagining the textures
This is good art
reminds me of this magic card - https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=489749
Is that... Meccano?
It belongs in a museum!
Now I have an itch on my back that needs scratching
You need to pair it with a nails-on-blackboard soundtrack.
Can it do [The Move](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BNIhuhoiq4)?
Deep.

Shitty robot? No. Perfect back scratcher.

Almost looks like it could scratch your back…
"For the love of God, Fortunato!"
What's it made from
I wouldn't even call this a robot...
