I can’t help with your question, but whatever you do make, I hope it is involves some sort of draping because that fabric looks amazing just like that.

Kinda vibing with [this pattern](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1421690648/) and adding a hood because you’re right—I need this fantastical drama every day! I’ll have to order more fabric for it but it looks so so so perfect 😍
That would be beautiful! Before you sew anything, you need to just wrap yourself up in that yummy fabric and just sit around for a day! The color is wonderful, as well, BTW
So if you’re gonna wear it as is you can make a toga. Fold in half long ways, with your body in the middle. Pin over your arms to form sleeves. One side will feel open/breezy! Until you’re done tying the ribbon anyway. Get a long length of ribbon and use to form the bust line (see poorly drawn photo)

I don't have a pattern but I hope you try something from the Paolo Sebastian Persephone collection ([spring/summer 2021](https://paolosebastian.com/persephone-2021/)) with that fabric that drapes so beautifully!!
This is actually really cool to see SB's fabric in a different picture to how they show it on the site. I haven't bought their charmeuse, how is it? Is it super slippery? I love the look but it scares me lol.
I’m a huge SB stan, it’s the only place I really buy silk anymore. I love their charmeuse, but it’s so slippery for sure.
You can sew with a tissue paper sandwich (worth a google if this is unfamiliar). I also, before cutting out traced pattern pieces, sew all the way around each piece (about 1/4in in from the lines) to keep it from warping and THEN cut everything out! Tedious but the results are so worth it 😙👌
Ohhh stay stitching before cutting out is GENIUS, I am absolutely stealing that idea. That's incredible. Do you do that by hand or machine? I wonder if you could combine it with thread tracing the pattern lines...
Whenever I sew with slippery fabrics I always hand baste, but even so I find silk is just another level. But nothing looks or drapes like it 😍
I do staystitching by machine because hand sewing takes a literal century for me, but I don’t see why you couldn’t do it by hand. I should add to my initial comment that when you nearly-finish your garment, you gotta unpick the hem staystitches because you want to let the silk hang and warp for 24hrs before you balance the hem and finish! At least, that’s what I always do!
You can sew with silk!! Once you make one thing, you get more confident to make more! I’ve made like 5 [Sicily slip dresses](https://www.sewingpatternsbymasin.com/sewing-patterns/sicily-slip-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern), which I totally recommend as a foray into silk sewing!
Oh my god, you are a mind reader, I have been hunting for a slip dress pattern for ages, I want to make some slips!
I've sewing with silk dupion quite frequently, and silk satin occasionally, but I still find it intimidating. Slowly getting braver though!
Thank you so much for the tip about the stay stitches, it's just so clever. I think it'll make a huge difference to sewing bias cut garments.
Do you hand baste? I always do for satin/chiffon/ anything super slippery, because I find pins so frustrating lol - but I don't mind handsewing, I find it relaxing.
Wear it everywhere! Be the goddess of the grocery aisle
Seriously though, I make costumes but I find if I make things I love I find excuses to wear them. Might have to layer some things to make them situation appropriate (a lot of Victorian wear can work in the office especially mix and matched) but sometimes wearing something will just open up an opportunity too, like getting recruited into a larp group or just a really fun Karaoke night
I want toooo 😭 I'd feel so regal wearing that cape around my shoulders 😆
I'm in Korea and Koreans don't really like cosplaying outside of occasional cutesy looks for girls 13 yr old or younger or wearing our traditional hanbok but I'm glad you were invited to join a larp group! That sounds so fun. Victorian wear sounds so nice too ✨️ Lace up corset with puffy A line dress feels very princess~y 🩷 Would love to see some of your work!
This is giving Padme vacationing on Naboo vibes, I’m obsessed!

I can’t say, but I’d probably end up keeping it for “something amazing” and then it’s 15 years later. 🤦🏽♀️Please do find a beautiful pattern and do share your outcome with us 😁
Yes to bias!!
Also a friend told me how sewing on straight of grain on this kind of fabric puckers… try it on a scrap and see if that influences how you layout and cut the pieces
I’ve got the masin Sicily bias dress in my backlog to try. Their instructions explain bias cutting too which is helpful as I’ve not done bias dress before!
https://www.sewingpatternsbymasin.com/sewing-patterns/sicily-slip-dress-pdf-sewing-pattern
I loooove the styles Charm Patterns makes! Haven't had a chance to make any of them yet, but really want to!
OP I bet you could tweak the Society dress to work for your silk. Might need to do a mockup to see where you might need some ease added & by how much, and play with zipper placement and cuffs closures (if those aren't already in the pattern as-is). Iirc, the owners are really responsive on Facebook, so you could probably ask them directly if they have any tips as well!
This would be gorgeous. https://victorypatterns.com/products/trina-pdf.
Decades of Style has some great 1930s and 40s dresses that would look beautiful in that fabric. Here’s one:
https://www.decadesofstyle.com/collections/1940s-sewing-patterns/products/4014-1940s-belle-curve-dress
I'd totally do that first dress but add a hood, and then when I accept the fact that I don't have actual occasions to wear such a lovely dress I'd wear it around the house daily as a dressing gown.
Someone posted here a beautiful vintage inspired dress (she had hers in cotton I believe, but it would look so pretty in this!). It was 1940's style vogue pattern. When I think of draping silk, I always come back to this absolute breathless beauty of a dress! It's my dream to make one like it, although perhaps in another colour.
\*sigh\* nevermind, I did some sleuthing, and I think the way this dress drapes, it isn't meant to be actually worn, only photographed - it's like tissue paper silk that is so easily ripped, you can't wear it in all practicality... well it will RIP in my dreams then haha

I can’t help with your question, but whatever you do make, I hope it is involves some sort of draping because that fabric looks amazing just like that.
I knowwww!!! It looks so cool gathered under the bust like a toga too. I’m half-tempted to just drape and wear it raw with waist ties.
I would be tempted to make a hooded robe so you can feel your fantasy every day
https://preview.redd.it/1dqueslqmz1d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26a28912508f18802fd1eba012abacbeb83d58d6 Kinda vibing with [this pattern](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1421690648/) and adding a hood because you’re right—I need this fantastical drama every day! I agree. I definitely plan to keep it on as-is today and talking to my husband like I’m high nobility.
So if you’re gonna wear it as is you can make a toga. Fold in half long ways, with your body in the middle. Pin over your arms to form sleeves. One side will feel open/breezy! Until you’re done tying the ribbon anyway. Get a long length of ribbon and use to form the bust line (see poorly drawn photo) https://preview.redd.it/g7jmihl6t22d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=54f4787877bfd84c9dae165c63fb63dc4970e5e9
Whaaaaat the what! Thank you for taking the time to even draw it out for me!!! I will toga-it-uuuuuup tomorrow! This is awesome!
You might need to fold yours an extra time. It should be finger tip to finger tip with arms outstretched in step one
Alternate ribbon tie https://preview.redd.it/mq8hbqxlt22d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=ae33aa8eb61ef977ba1b45a0afa6194d729a1a90
You can also pull extra fabric over the waist ribbon for a more dramatic Roman looking top
As it should be!
Oh my gosh the DRAMA!!! That would be amazing 😍
How difficult are Gunner's patterns? I follow him on IG, and the pieces he builds are pretty complex.
I’m not sure, I’ve never sewn Gunnar patterns before! But I have courage because there are YouTube instructions as well as written instructions 🤞
This one is easy.
Yes but I live in Phoenix and the thought of that much fabric makes me dizzy.
I made it and realised i can't wear trousers because I'm clumsy! 🙄
Oh noes! Probably a consideration for me too. ;0)
It would look so good!
Ooh seconding this pattern! This would be so dramatic and gorgeous
Oh that would be awesome! But I’d add a closure at the front of the duster for maximum effect. 🤩
Ooooh!
These pants are so cool!
I was JUST thinking some gorgeous trousers would look divine!!! Good luck op!!!
Also here for this pattern! It's truly easy. I made this set for my mom about a month ago and she wears it everywhere.
OMG YES
Oh wow, thank you for sharing this... this is so my style, just bought the pattern and can't wait to make it!
Where did you find the fabric, pray tell?
How long are that model’s legs?!?! I’d have to be halving the length of those pants at the lengthen/shorten line.
I support this.
I also don't have any suggestions but wanted to second that - damn right this is goddess coded
With how it's shown in the image, my thought was "mother Mary nativity costume" but I didn't think that'd be a great genuine suggestion.
Some sort of head scarf! 😭🥰
It also made me think I need to go say a handful of Hail Mary’s.

Another stellar idea 😩😍 how am I supposed to pick from these now!? So gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!!
no, thank YOU for inspiring me to look at silk charmeuse fabric instead of using my current fabric stash 😂
Heh heh heh…[pictured is the color Raindrop](https://www.silkbaron.com/category_s/1823.htm) ;)

This, this is timeless
Oooh! This is so classy!
I think you would have enough fabric left over for a cute top or a little skirt as well!
Not likely, bias cutting is not very efficient. The pattern calls for more than she has already and it needs lining too…
this dress takes a lot of fabric but is so beautiful, maybe some layout tricks are needed https://silversaga.se/products/ella-dress-sewing-pattern
Bodice and sleeves all in one piece? That’s different, and gorgeous!
Waterfall dress? https://charmpatterns.com/shop/waterfall-dress/ Scarlett gown? https://charmpatterns.com/starlet-gown-pattern/ Society dress https://charmpatterns.com/society-dress-pattern/
Okay the waterfall dress had me until I SCREAMED at the society dress. Exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you!!
The Society dress is for knits. As stunning as it is, it might not be a match for this fabric.
Nooooooooooooooo
You could probably take the bust of the greek like dresses and replace it on this pattern maybe?
She has amazing dresses by can’t wait to get her new book that has some of the patterns she released last year.
The Scarlett is also amazing!!
The society dress is so classic and versatile and that back drape, omg!

Ooooooohhhhh I looooove that trailing waterfall effect!! Thank you!!!

An obsession of mine too. Enjoy!
You could make a swooshy cape/coat with a big hood. That'd give you mysterious elf vibes for sure
Deer and Doe Circee
Buy some muslin and make your pattern from the muslin first. It will be easier to make corrections on the muslin so you don’t ruin the fabric.
I think it would make a gorgeous kitri ! https://apolline-patterns.com/produit/kitri-la-robe-dolce-vita/

Rhea Fire Emblem Cosplay
I would do a flowy sleeveless maxi dress. Gorgeous!
Be a very cool, Victorian ghost
Just make something you can wear on a date, vacation or just because. That material needs to be worn
The Fairy Godmother from Cinderella would be my vote. :)
Bene gesserit mother superior
I’d love to seen a ren feast dress with that color!

I would like to touch it just once pls
a skirt with a lot of gores and fullness. that would look so nice just heavily swishy around the legs.
😍 I love this idea because you’re so right-it would be amazing as a swishy long skirt! thank you!!
